Lion, Exchange 2010. Mail loses all emails in an exchange account

I am running Lion on an new 2.0 GHz i7.
We are using Exchange 2010 SP1 and I have 2 exchange accounts setup in Mail. Every two weeks or so Iose all the emails in one of the accounts. After a few minutes Mail seems to realise, and startes resyncing all my emails. The mailbox is 2GB in size so this takes about an hour time during which Ihave no emails.
Fortunatly so far this has only happened while I'm working in the office but if it happened while Iwas work off-site it could take a lot longer to sync
The other exchange account has not had this problem.

Since posting this Ihave archived my mailbox which has reduced it from 2GB to about 800 MB. I did have growlmail and dockstar addons running so I uninstalled them.
It seemed ok for 4 days, and I installed herald which is a notification addon (hate the fact that mac mail doesn't have any kind of notification of new emails) and guess what the issue has occurred again.
All emails dissappear and the whole mailbox has to re-sync.
I'm getting really frustrated with this and am being forced to consider using Outlook Mac 2011, something Ireally don't want to do.
Does apple actually look at these posts, can someone please help I really don't want to use Outlook

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

Go to your profile page.
Select the Notifications tab clear out anything that shows there.
Go back to your profile
In the Actions box select Preferences
Select the Email Notifications Preferences tab
Set the values as you like
Go back to your profile
In the Actions box select Manage Email Notifications
delete any that show
Steps 4 & 7 seem to be the same, they are not. Make sure you do all of the steps.

Why does Mail mark all emails as read when I close it with an email open?

If I use Mail with say, Gmail, and I open an email in Mail and then later archive all email in Gmail, then any future email that I receive are marked as "Read" in the Mail app. This appears to be because when you open an email in Mail and then it no longer exists (because it's archived) then Mail moves on to the next email, therefore marking it as read because it's opening it.
Is this really to be expected? Is there a way for the Mail app to "reset" itself like some other apps do, once they close, rather than save the last state that the app was in?

Does the iPhone still do this, or no longer?

Mail saving all emails with attachments in "Drafts"

Since I upgraded to Mavericks (not Maverick or Maverick's...??) Mail has put a copy of every email I send that has an attachment into the "Drafts" folder. The email has been sent and received by the recipient, and you can find it in the "Sent" folder as well. Never had this issue before. I can't find a preference that has any effect on it.
Any ideas??

I'm using a PC for my email at the moment. I'm not sure if all my wife's emails have been downloaded. However, Mail has made a Home/Mail/MessageUidsAlreadyDowloaded file. This was created when I sent an email to test what happened. I was unable to make Mail download all her emails, so I guess they must have gone from the server. She has a different email address to mine, but it's run from the same ISP account; as I said, she logs in, automatically, through Mail to her email. I have contacted the ISP about it, but they are unable to see any trace of emails that colleagues have sent my wife and which she sends home to herself. All of these files happen to have attachments, but I cannot see any setting of Mail which would account for them being rejected. Also, I can't be entiurely sure that only emails with attachments don't get through; there may be others, 'unattached'.

Why the **** does Mail toss all email and accounts with trashed preferences

It's a common thing to toss an app's prefs when the app misbehaves and becomes caught in an unusable loop of open and crash.
So, Mail crashed 30 times each time I opened it, even after I rebooted and cleared all messages I could from my accounts via webmail. Nothing solved the problem. Finally I had to toss prefs. Of course Mail opens right up after that...just that none of my account exist now.
How the **** else was I ever going to get Mail to stop crashing?? Should I have to lose all my Mail??
Hard to believe. I'm now just hoping I can re-import my accounts since it looks like the info is still in my user/Library/Mail folder. What a freaking PAIN!
Not to mention terrible account set up has become. You sit and wait for 10 minutes while it verifies server input...something has gone drastically awry with Mail. I'm thinking of going back to Entourage at this rate.

Sounds like something has gone wrong with your copy of Mail. Probably either the Mail app (or support files) or some of your data files have become corrupt. You could try reinstalling Mail (using [Pacifist|http://www.charlessoft.com>). You could also try archiving all your mailboxes, writing down any account settings, trashing all your Mail files and setting up everything from scratch.
However, to complain that your settings were lost when you threw out your settings file seems a bit silly to me...

TS3276 Why does my mail send an email from a different account form the one selected?

I have several email accounts configured in my mail app.
For no reason it started sending email from one of my accounts with another email address, so when people reply to my email (from a particular account) it goes to another inbox and I sometimes miss it.
Any tips?

In Mail>Preferences>Accounts>you can set Each Mail account to "Use Only This Server" located at the lower right of the window below, which you specify once. Then the Mail app will not have a choice of server available to pull those shenanigans.

I have 2 Apple ID's and want to 'close out' or stop using the older one. A) can I delete an ID? and B) if I do, do I lose all the purchases under that ID? Thanks in advance for any help!

Not without asking Apple to delete it. You're probably better off just stopping making new purchases with it instead.

Crnt FF: 1 of 5 e-mails loses all e-mails upon viewing but shows qty of mails are there. Search can find all of them, just won't show in the InBox

1 of 5 email ACCOUNTS receives mail OK, but as soon as you leave that account and come back, nothing is shown in the Inbox. The Status Bar however, shows that there are 32 e-mails there although the Inbox is devoid of any text.
Using Search, I can find ALL 32 emails by searching for a word in the subject field or the body fields. The mails ARE there! They just do not display in the Inbox.
So ... how the heck do I get the Inbox to show its contents again?
This was working until day before yesterday when I read an e-mail from a trusted source, and it automagically disappeared, along with all the others in the inbox. ALL other accounts are working just fine.
I tried creating a new email account but it wouldn't let me, giving me an error that the "incoming already exists". No number or anything; it come when I click DONE in the creation process. The new account will not write to the disk.
I have run NOrton AV, AVG, MalWare Bytes, Windows Defender, Spybot and another I forget the name of right now. ALL showed nothing found after each success live scan. I am reasonable sure I do not have any malware.
The e-mails in that account are pretty important and I do not want to lose them if possible; they are for a high school 50th Reunion planning committee.
Windows 7 HP, Dell XPS L702, 6 Gig RAM, Intel i7 Processor and lots of disk space. I have also compacted with no change. The messages are all still there, but nothing shows in my inbox; it's empty. I only see them using Search the Messages for terms I know are in them.
Happy to provide any other info needed to evaluate this. Oh, the account Sends OK too; it's a POP3 account setup.
Any help would be most appreciated!

It's almost like, since the messages show a qty in the status bar, that their text has been changed to white, the background color. But when i use Search Messages to get at what's there, the text color is black as it should be.
Any further comments welcomed.

Mail Inbox all Emails do not display sender's name or E-mail address

After the last update in my Mail all the sender's names or E-mail addresses changed into No Sender. They are real E-mails not spam or junk E-mails. Once I open the E-mail I can see the Sender's name and E-mail address. It is very inconvenient not being able to see who is the sender befoer openning it. How do i fix this?

I am fighting with the same problem. In conversation mode my reply shows me as "From" on the left pane. I switched to Classic view which makes life a bit easier as I can see the "Subject" line and guess that this is an email I'm searching for. Can't find the way to put name of the Sender who started conversation in the info summary on the left.

Apparently TalkTalk mail will work with Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 ''if'' you set the browser to ''lie'' to TalkTalk mail by saying that you are still using version 3.6.

Note: when you open about:config the first time, it will display a warning message that you should be careful with the changes you make. That's definitely good to bear in mind.

Signed out of mobile me -- will I lose all email now?

I was reading posts and took someone's suggestion about signing OUT of "mobile me" (because obviously it's no longer in existence) in order to sign back in to icloud. However, it's been so long since I've used mobile me that I can't remember my password. I thought it would be the same as my Apple password, but apparently not because that doesn't work.
So if I'm signed OUT of mobile me on my computer, does that mean I will no longer receive email on my computer?
Or am I safe because mobile me doesn't exist anyway.
I have a Mac Air and I'm on 10.6.8 so I can't actuallty access icloud in my system preferences or change it from mobile me to icloud.

It's better to sign out - before you do so go to the iDisk and Sync panes and stop any syncing which may be running.
If you migrated your MobileMe to iCloud before 1 August you can set Mail up to access iCloud emails:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
If you didn't migrate then you can't do anything with iCloud until you upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion.

IOS Mail Retaining All Email, Can't Selectively Delete Old Messages

Thought I missed something in setup for my POP3 accounts, but apparently not. Got almost a years worth of email on the device with thousands of messages, many with large attached files, and no apparent way to trim it down. Unlike every other mobile PDA device I’ve ever owned, there is no way to set a limit to how many days/months/years of email messages that an iPhone will retain. There is also no way to selectively choose email messages for deletion based on how many days/months/years old they are. Am I missing something fairly obvious here?

Webmail on a server has no effect on POP3 clients, like the iPhone's IOS mail. Once they're picked up by the email client, only the client, itself, can access them.
Email clients for more than 30 years have had this basic function. Absolutely amazing that Apple deliberately left it out of this one.

IPhone 5 says using 4GB of storage on mail but all emails are deleted?

Hi, recently my iPhone 5 has been asking me to create more storage and I noticed that 4GB of the space being used was on mail. I have 2 accounts a GMail and a POP3 - All of them are regularly deleted so there shouldn't be any real impact on storage - Can anybody help as to why the device is still saying I'm using that much on mail?

I'm running into the same issue (on both my iphone's).
The one that is hit worst has 5,2 Gb wordt of storage for mail and no accounts in there (anymore).
How can we recouperate this space without doing a reset?
Apple, please advice.

Los all emails in all inboxes

I connected my iphone 3GS to my macbook last night. I started syncing and I went to bed. I got up this morning and the only content in my inboxes was what came in over night. My inboxes were fine before the sync. I have checked on my three accounts via computer and the boxes are empty there as well. Each box has a different login and password. No one had my phone. I checked my trash folder and none of the missing emails were there either.
How did this happen? Is there a way to restore them? How can I prevent this from happening again?
