List all running scheduled tasks on local/remote machine

Hi All,
I'm in need of a PS script, which can list all the active/running scheduled tasks either on local or remote machine.
Please share if you have one readily available.
Thanks in advance!!!
Pavan

Hi Pavan,
Have you checked the script repository? That's a good place to find prewritten scripts:

  • Run Scheduled Tasks with MSA on 2008R2

    Is it actually possible for a scheduled ask to under with an sMSA as opposed to a gMSA?
    I have created an sMSA, added it to a server computer running 2008R2 and installed the sMSA. Now running the command
    schtasks /CHange /TN taskName /RU
    sMSA_Name$ /RP ""
    gives error : Logon Failure: unknown username or bad password
    Any ideas? Thanks!!

    Hi,
    Based on my research, Standalone Managed Service Account can only be used to run services, but not to be used to run scheduled tasks on Windows Server 2008 R2.
    More information for you:

  • What permissions are required to see scheduled tasks on a remote server using SCHTASKS /S {server}?

    When I attempt to run SCHTASKS /S {server} some servers return:
    ERROR: Access is denied.
    On servers where I am a member of the local Administrators group I can run this command successfully. There are many servers where it is not appropriate for me to be a local Administrator but would be fine for me to monitor the status of scheduled tasks
    on the server.
    What permissions need to be granted to me to see the scheduled tasks and not be a local administrator? Is this even possible?
    Thanks,
    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,
    Based on my research, any user can schedule a task on the
    local computer and they can view and change the tasks that they scheduled; however, to schedule, view, or change a task on a
    remote computer, we must be member of the Administrators group on the remote computer.
    Therefore,
    What permissions need to be granted to me to see the scheduled tasks and not be a local administrator? Is this even possible
    It is not possible.

  • Powershell get scheduled task jobs on remote computer

    Hello guys!
    I couldn't find any answer or question about this, I need to query scheduled jobs on server (2008R2) with name which contains variables.
    I can get list of jobs, but I don't know how to display only that I need.  For example, there is job $something.$RandomText.$RandomNumbers, So I'm trying to filter jobs by name ($something).
    Script which I found is:
    $sched = New-Object -Com "Schedule.Service"
    $sched.Connect('remote server')
    $out = @()
    $sched.GetFolder("\").GetTasks(0) | % {
    $xml = [xml]$_.xml
    $out += New-Object psobject -Property @{
    "Name" = $_.Name
    "Status" = switch($_.State) {0 {"Unknown"} 1 {"Disabled"} 2 {"Queued"} 3 {"Ready"} 4 {"Running"}}
    "NextRunTime" = $_.NextRunTime
    "LastRunTime" = $_.LastRunTime
    "LastRunResult" = $_.LastTaskResult
    "Author" = $xml.Task.Principals.Principal.UserId
    "Created" = $xml.Task.RegistrationInfo.Date
    And one more thing, I'm using windows 7, so I can't use get-SceduledTasks function.
    Maybe there is some simpler way to do this?
    Best regards,
    Ronald

    Just see the values in $out and check the Name. The name may differ.No results will be produced if it;s not eq to your $something
    $sched = New-Object -Com "Schedule.Service"
    $sched.Connect($env:ComputerName)
    $something = 'GoogleUpdateTaskMachineCore'
    $out = @()
    $sched.GetFolder("\").GetTasks(0) | % {
    $xml = [xml]$_.xml
    $out += New-Object psobject -Property @{
    "Name" = $_.Name
    "Status" = switch($_.State) {0 {"Unknown"} 1 {"Disabled"} 2 {"Queued"} 3 {"Ready"} 4 {"Running"}}
    "NextRunTime" = $_.NextRunTime
    "LastRunTime" = $_.LastRunTime
    "LastRunResult" = $_.LastTaskResult
    "Author" = $xml.Task.Principals.Principal.UserId
    "Created" = $xml.Task.RegistrationInfo.Date
    $out | ? {$_.Name -eq "$something"}

  • Error in running EJB Client on a remote machine

    I delploy my beans and can run the EJB Client locally. However when I try to run the Client on another machine, there are errors.

    Do anyone facing the same problem with me?
    And how can I solve the problems?
    This is really URGENT, please help

    You are running on Windows 9x or Me, right? The darn OS has 300 or so bytes allocated for environment by default.
    Try setting the Initial environment to 4096 in the Properties|Memory tab for the batch file. That will get rid of "Out of environment space". The syntax error is another matter; Windows (except NT and derivatives) shells do not allow '=' in an environment variables value. You cannot overcome that. Some software (Sybase for instance) interprets # as = just because of that. Unfortunately, the JVM doesn't take such an approach.
    Better, grab copies of Unix utilities for Windows (www.gnu.org) including the wonderful shell 'bash' and write .sh scripts, which are inherently more powerful.

  • Running scheduled tasks even if their time is missed?

    Hi
    I have some tasks (e.g. iSync-ing to my mobile phone) which I need to schedule periodically, but would like them to run (albeit in a delay) if my Mac happens to be off at the time of their scheduled run.
    Both cron and launchd jobs seem to ignore a job that is overdue and hasn't been run.
    Is there some tool or workaround that can run missed jobs as soon as the Mac wakes up or goes online (if the job requires internet access)?
    Thanks

  • Modifying my script to list all folders and their lastwritetime on remote computers

    Hello,
    I've got the following script that is trying to report on a list of computers (in computerlist.txt) the contents of the C:\Users folder and list in the resulting CSV File the Name of the computer, the Folder Name and the Date it was last changed (sort by
    most recent first).
    $servers = GC C:\Powershell_Scripts\computerlist.txt
    ForEach($server in $servers) {
    If (Test-Connection -comp $server -count 1 -quiet) {
    Get-Childitem ("\\$server\c$\Users") | Where-Object { $_.mode -like 'd*' } | Select-Object $server, Name, LastWriteTime | Export-Csv C:\Apps\Powershell_Scripts\LastLogin\Reports\directoryFile.csv
    I'm part way there but my script is not showing each computer..only the last computer in the list.
    Please assist with making the necessary changes to this script.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the reply Mike.
    I am running version 3.  I've added the -Append to my script but it doesn't seem to like it.  Here's the error I get:
    Export-Csv : Cannot append CSV content to the following file: C:\Powershell_Scripts\Reports\directoryFile.csv. The appended object does not have a property that corresponds to the following column: ServerABC. To proceed with mismatched
    properties, add the -Force switch and retry.
    Where ServerABC is the name of the first server in computerlist.txt.
    Here is how I added the -Append:
    $servers = GC C:\Powershell_Scripts\computerlist.txt
    ForEach($server in $servers) {

  • Last Run Result Email Alert from Scheduled Task

    Hi All,
    Ive a newly require need to move 3 files from a local server to a remote server via FTP each evening.
    Local server is a Server 2008 box.
    I have setup WinSCP to transfer the files over successfully via a Scheduled Task
    Now i need alerting!!
    Ive setup the email function in Task Scheduler and it does send me an email but a pretty pointless one at that as it doesn't tell you the Last Run Result status code.
    So all i know is the job has run but i don't know if with errors etc.
    Each morning ill have to FTP to the remote server and manually check the time and date stamps myself to make sure the copy was successful.
    Ive checked the event log and it writes an Event ID 201 to the Task Scheduler Event Log and that has all the info i need in the description, but i cant attach that event to my scheduled task as there are lots of 201's for all different scheduled tasks that
    run that by the OS.
    Anybody know how i can get the last Run Result in the body of the email or the subject line at least - so i know if it is a 0x0 the job has been successul and anything other than 0x0 that there has been a problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to find and export all Scheduled Tasks in Domain with multiple servers.

    Hi everyone,
    I have been given a task of finding all of Scheduled Tasks in the Domain on all of the servers. So far I have manage to create a script that will pull out all Scheduled Tasks from one Server, in this case Domain Controller.
    Butt in my company are more than 150 servers so I am looking for a script that can connect to AD (or LDAP), than to certain OUs, then pull out Server list and than query them for Schedule Task. I have found already some scripts online and tried to adjust
    them butt they simply didnt work.
    I am new in the company and still learning about the system,  this is my first real task so any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Just a tip that I found after running across this myself - if you run a
    Get-AdComputer -filter {operatingsystem -like '*server*'} | ft name | out-file servers.txt
    and then save the output to a text file, it may look good, but there may be white space at the end of the computer names. Make sure that only the computernames are in the file and then the script works great.
    http://absoblogginlutely.net
    This would happen because you are trying to get around the format of the output.  When you want the raw value do it this way;  it is faster and easier:
    Get-AdComputer -filter {operatingsystem -like '*server*'} |
         %{$_.Name } | out-file servers.txt
    Now there can never be any extra spaces and there will be no header to cause problems.
    This is why it pays to spend time studying the details of how PowerShell works instead of just sticking things together until you get a result.  PowerShell is designed to do all of these things without fudging or guesswork but it requires that you actually
    learn how it works.  I highly recommend stating with a good technical book on PowerShell.

    Hi Bindu,
    I am developing web application in asp.net. When application run from IIS(hosted in server machine running from client machine using web browser) application should list all the configured printers in local and network.
    From this message, this is a web application in asp.net, and it also related to IIS.
    You should post in the dedicated ASP.Net Forum

  • Scheduled Tasks - Administrator Best Practices

    Hi all,
    I've gotten assistance this week with a couple scripts and scheduling them as tasks. I actually have well over a dozen running on our Exchange server using a special user with a complex password. This user is not used for logging into any machine, but it
    is a member of 'Administrators' group and can be used for tasks requiring elevated privileges.
    What I am interested in learning is what the best practice is for running scheduled tasks. We have several, such as querying AD for members of select OUs or users who meet certain criteria. We also have automated emails regarding certain mailbox metrics,
    etc. You get the idea.
    Despite the complex credentials, this account is still discoverable and could be used in nefarious ways. Is it possible be running tasks on Server 2008 R2 (2012 possibly) without administrator credentials? Are there certain restrictions for the tasks (like
    is a scheduled reboot allowed by a standard account, but not querying Active Directory?).
    I also have noticed a checkbox with 'Run with  highest privileges' and do not fully understand what this means.
    When I try to run the task as a regular user (no remote permissions) and it says 'Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type as this computer.'
    In short, can I safely remove our special user account from 'Administrators' and place into regular users without breaking all of our tasks?

    Hi KSI-IT,
    Firstly, based on my research, if you want to run the task scheduler with a user account, the user account must have the corresponding permission, in other words, you can also manually run the script with the user account.
    1.  For the error you posted 'Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type as this computer', please make sure the task account has "logon as a batch job" privilege.
    To add the privilege of the account, please go to
    [Local Security policy\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment]
    -Log on as a batch job.
    Add the domain\username account and any others you may need and retry.
    2.  For the setting 'Run with  highest privileges', this means that it runs with the highest privileges available to that user. This is different from the context menu's 'Run As Admin'.
    It generates the highest privilege token for the specific user, however, it cannot run as a different user, for a standard user with no elevated permissions, 'Run with highest privileges' does not do anything.
    Reference from:
    What
    effect does "run with highest priviledges" in task scheduler have on powershell scripts?
    I hope this helps.

  • Schedule Task - Windows 2008 R2 - User Session

    I am migratiing the schedule task from windows 2003 to windows 2008 and find some of behaviour change on handling user session by Task Scheduler.
    I have a simple batch to call "net use" command to map a network drive for copying file to remote server. And I have scheduled 3 similar tasks and run as same user (e.g. testuser)
    In windows 2003 enviornment, the mapped network drive resource will not be accessed by another schedule task. In windows 2008 R2, howerver, the network drive mapped in one of schedule task can be reached by another task. Does anyone have
    idea on this behaviour change?
