Schedule Task - Windows 2008 R2 - User Session

I am migratiing the schedule task from windows 2003 to windows 2008 and find some of behaviour change on handling user session by Task Scheduler.
I have a simple batch to call "net use" command to map a network drive for copying file to remote server. And I have scheduled 3 similar tasks and run as same user (e.g. testuser)
In windows 2003 enviornment, the mapped network drive resource will not be accessed by another schedule task. In windows 2008 R2, howerver, the network drive mapped in one of schedule task can be reached by another task. Does anyone have
idea on this behaviour change?
Here are the testing script

Sorry for confusing, I have udpated the script for this testing

The schedule task 2 are triggered while the schedule task 1 are running, In the windows 2003, the schedule task 2 could not list out any mapped drive. In the windows 2008, however, the schedule task 2
can list the network drive mapped by schedule task 1. The question is if there are any changes between windows 2003 and 2008, hope it can clarify.

  • Using Windows 2008 R2 RD Session Hosts in Windows 2012 RD Deployments

Just a couple of observations from our attempt to deploy Windows 2008 R2 RD Session Hosts as part of a Windows 2012 RD Deployment. Hopefully these save someone the angst of not finding answers in other documentation.
    1. Our first hurdle was trying to add a Windows 2008 R2 server (RD02) as a Session Host in the Remote Desktop Services area in Server Manager on our Windows 2012 RD Deployment server (RDCB01), which had the Connection Broker, Web Access and Session
Host role services installed. After some side-tracking through AD issues, we eventually discovered that we had to manually add RD02 to the list of servers to manage in Server Manager on RDCB01. Then it was visible and could be selected.
    2. Now that we could, we tried to actually add the RD02 Windows 2008 R2 Session Host to the 2012 Deployment. This failed the previously unheard of compatibility tests with the error "Compatibility check failed" "The server is not running at least {0}". A
    list of requirements is shown:
You will not be able to proceed with the installation unless ALL the following criteria are met:
The server must be available by using Windows PowerShell remotely.
The server must be running at least Windows Server 2012.
The currently logged on user must be a member of the local Administrators group on the server.
The server must not have a pending start.
We were also concerned that we could not change many of the properties of Published Applications on our 2012 Publishing server. In our case changing an icon was critical for user acceptance to distinguish between application functions.
It seems RDS is an all or nothing approach between 208 R2 and 2012 versions. The only thing we were able to get going in time was some limited Published Application capability.
I agree with other posters in their assessments of wholesale changes to RDS in 2012, and a lack of readily available definitive information.

    Hi,
It seems that no official documents suggest that 2008 r2 could be involved with the 2012 rds infra.Even on the server 08 and 08r2,i don't suggest mixing them for potential incompatibility.
Any further discussions about this issue are welcomed here for all of you.

  • Task scheduler in windows 2008 R2 cluster.

We have clustered server and there's two nodes - Active(A1)/Active(A2).
Ordinary client can connect A1, but A1 is failed then connect A2 by windows 2008 R2 cluster.
We have a task scheduler exe module created by .net framework in each node.
When A1 server is operated, we wanna just A1 job scheduler active.
And A2 server is operated, just only A2 job scheduler acitve.
Can We contoller  this situation in exe module or Failover Cluster Manager?

If you upgrade to Win2012 or higher you can.  Here's a blog on it:

  • Windows 2008 R2 users allow to install some apps

    Dear ALL,
We have windows 2008 R2 as domain controller and file server with more than 500 users. all domain users don't have any rights to install any software or application without administrator rights.
All users having reliance data card for accessing all our servers form home or remote are any where in India.
    my problem:
without administrator rights they are not able to re-install reliance software and we need to re install if dongle is not work. as remote are if dongle is not work then we are not able to install and uninstall remotely because they have no connectivity.
is there any way that all domain users having rights to install or uninstall only specific programs like reliance data card software.
if it done then its great and biggest solution for me to provide users support.
please help me all ms masters.

No, its not possible to do it. But, you can use some 3rd party tool like Avecto. It provides restricted admin rights to the users.

  • How do I run a scheduled task as a specific user (proxy user)

I am a little stumped here.
We have some Taskdefinition that we can schedule so they run every N minutes or once a day and so forth... works fine...
How can I set which user it is supposed to run as?
I dont want it to run as me or any of the other admins, I wan tit to run as a specific proxy user so that it is easy to see which task that did what changes to a user or resource.
I know that the reconcilliations and active syncs can use a proxy account, and I noticed that I can change a tasks user by editing it in debug after it is scheduled.
But I would like to add it in the taskdefinition itself, trying to find info on how to do that....
either I am missing it in the manuals or I am blind...

  • CF scheduler erroneously runs ALL scheduled tasks simultaneously !

    Hi everyone,
Our scheduler.log (attached) shows that ALL 13 tasks have been activated simultaneously at the same time daily, in addition to the correct staggered scheduled times.  Furthermore the name of the thread in the scheduler log is "MAIN", quite different from the names of all correctly initiated schedules.
I have noted on the net a bug of this sort in previous versions of CF but not in CF8 or 9.
Has anyone encountered such a situation with a rogue thread starting up all scheduled tasks simultaneously ?
We would certainly appreciate any help here.
    Cheers Rod
Extract of our scheduler.log attached !

Strange, I use the scheduler regularly and have never seen
this behavior. I think you might be on the right track in emailing
you upon failures. You may also want to email you upon success as
well, at least until this problem gets resolved.
A scheduled task is just another user session as far as your
application is concerned so you can use specify a CFERROR template.
You can also use the output from the scheduled template as a log
and in the cf scheduler admin specify to log the output to a file.
    Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • [Forum FAQ] Group Policy Preferences Scheduled Tasks Item not working when the option Run whether user is logged on or not is selected

    Scenario:
We use one of the following Group Policy Preferences Scheduled Tasks item to deploy a task to clients:
Computer Configuration -> Control Panel Settings -> Scheduled Tasks -> New -> Scheduled Task (At least Windows 7)
Computer Configuration -> Control Panel Settings -> Scheduled Tasks -> New -> Immediate Task (At least Windows 7)
User Configuration -> Control Panel Settings -> Scheduled Tasks -> New -> Scheduled Task (At least Windows 7)
User Configuration -> Control Panel Settings -> Scheduled Tasks -> New -> Immediate Task (At least Windows 7)
(Note that on some platforms, "At least Windows 7" is replaced with "Windows Vista and later.")
After designating a user account to run the task, we select “Run whether user is logged on or not” option, and “The Do not store password…”
check box is automatically grayed out (See Figure 1).
    Figure 1
After finishing configuring the task item, on a client, we run command
gpupdate/force to forcefully update group policy. However, on the client, when we check if the task is listed in Task Scheduler snap-in, the task is not displayed, and when we run
gpresult/h report.html to collect group policy result for troubleshooting, we see an error as similar as shown in the following figure (Figure 2).
    Figure 2
    Cause:
To make the scheduled task run whether the user is logged on or not, we need to store the password of the designated user account. However, for the content of the scheduled
task item is stored in Sysvol where it’s not safe to store passwords, this function has been deprecated.
    Workaround:
We can run the task with system account
NT Authority\System, or we can use specific user accounts to run the task when the given user is logged on. (See Figure 3)

    Hello Everyone,
    Succeeded !!!!!!!
Even i was struggling with this same Problem to execute a batch via Window scheduler and set the setting to "Run whether the user is logged in or not".
I tried many time but the batch runs with " Run
whether user is logged on" and not with "Run
whether user is logged on or not".
what i discovered is that there was one mapped drive
path in my batch file which was not the complete path like y:/AR.qvw actually what i did i changed that map path to the complete path like \\servnamename\d$\AR.qvw and the batch executed successfully with the setting "Run
whether user is logged on or not"
    The
conclusion is that check the dependency of the script on external resources because when you check this option "Run
whether user is logged on or not" It actually conflicts. This my discovery.
    If
you have any question write me on [email protected]
    Thanks

  • Configuring status alerts on scheduled tasks in SCOM 2012 SP1

I have spent all day looking for helpful documentation on configuring a SCOM alert that will notify on a scheduled task (call it task_1) that has failed to run.
In event viewer, this status is being reported as Event ID 322. I'd like to report on this.
Looking for the community's help to list out high level steps on getting this to work. Here's what I've already done:
imported the YASC MP into SCOM from
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/yasc/archive/2008/04/16/monitoring-scheduled-taks-with-ops-mgr-2007.aspx
under Authoring>searched for 'task' and found my MP listed under 'scheduled Task (Windows Server 2008 or higher)>Check Task Last Run Status>right click monitor>create a monitor>unit monitor...
    this is where i'm confused...
the next window to pop up is asking for the type of monitor to create. I'd like to be able to select one that only reports on when the task has failed to run.
Has anyone been able to successfully configure this?
    Appreciate the help!

Creating an alert based on an Event ID is really straightforward and does not request you to import any 3rd party Management pack (you can but you don't have to).
For rundown of the steps required to accomplish this pls check the following blog:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jjameson/archive/2011/03/18/operations-manager-alerts-for-event-log-errors.aspx

  • Schedule Tasks

1.how to list all schedule tasks
2.how to start a schedule task (thru code)
    a) user defined tasks
    b) predefined tasks

In the Oracle Identity Manager Design Console, go to Administration -> Task Scheduler. There you can have all tasks.
About run your tasks... The SchedulerBaseTask has a method called runAsThread, for example, and you can invoke it after you get an instance of that class.
There is a very good blog post about that: http://rajnishbhatia19.blogspot.com/2008/10/running-task-scheduler-from-dos.html.

We just went through this too. If the plan is fairly complex, and has allot of conditional tasks you will have difficulty.
The explanation I got from Shweta is that the calculation that determines the OLAs before my scheduled task was to start looks at ALL the potential tasks and combines them, essentially saying the duration is much longer than what you think it should be, ie the sum of all potential task OLAs, not just the tasks that became active.

  • Issue with Bulk Load Post Process Scheduled Task

    Hello,
I successfully loaded users in OIM using the bulk load utility.  I also have LDAP sync ON.  The documentation says to run the Bulk Load Post Process scheduled task to push the loaded users in OIM into LDAP.
This works if we run the Bulk Load Post Process Scheduled Task right away after the run the bulk load.
If some time had passed and we go back to run the Bulk Load Post Process Scheduled Task, some of the users loaded through the bulk load utility are not created in our LDAP system.  This created an off-sync situation between OIM and our LDAP.
I tried to use the usr_key as a parameter to the Bulk Load Post Process Scheduled Task without success.
Is there a way to force the re-evaluation of these users so they would get created in LDAP?
    Thanks
    Khanh

The scheduled task carries out post-processing activities on the users imported through the bulk load utility.

  • Custom Schedule Task error

    Schedule Task Logic:
SQL query to get list of user id's
For each user get resource objects
Update UPN for AD resource if Status 'provisioned' or 'enabled'
    1) After Schedule task processes 500-600 users i get following error in log for each subsequent user.
09:42:27,608 ERROR [XELLERATE.DATABASE] Class/Method: tcDataBase/readPartialStatement encounter some problems: ORA-01000: maximum open cursors exceeded
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01000: maximum open cursors exceeded
         at oracle.jdbc.driver.SQLStateMapping.newSQLException(SQLStateMapping.java:70)
    2) i do check for isStop() method and try to return from code but Schedule Task keeps running till all the users are processed.
NOTE: Number of users to be processed are 9-10K.
    Thanks a lot.

    Here is the solution:
    1) Login to the OIM database as sys and run the query:
    SQL> select name,value from v$parameter where name like '%curs%';
    NAME - VALUE
    cursor_space_for_time - FALSE
    session_cached_cursors - 20
    cursor_sharing - EXACT
    open_cursors - 300
change cursor_sharing parameter to *'FORCE'* in the init.ora or spfile, and bounce the database.
    2) The method should be isStopped() for checking the Stop Execution checkbox in the shceduler.
    Thanks
    Sunny
