List vertical scroll bar position change issue

When and How to get the Text.ScrollPos value of a String control when scroll bar position changed

Hi,
I'm working on a feature triggered by scroll bar position of a string control changed.
But I could not find a good way to catch the scroll bar position changed event,
the scroll bar is controlled manually by mouse down → mouse move → mouse up, I want the get the Text.ScrollPos value when user mouse up, and compare with the maximum value.
But the problem is, mouse up on the scroll bar could not trigger String: Mouse up event!
So I have to get the Text.ScrollPos continuously in the background in Timeout event, but I think it’s not efficient.
Do you have any better idea on when to get the correct destination value of Text.ScrollPos?
I plan to store the value of Text.ScrollPos in the bottom(maximum value) in a shift register, then compare the current Text.ScrollPos value with the max one.
If it comes close to the bottom(90%~100% of the maximum value), then the close to bottom LED will turn on.

I don't think there is any build-in event for this.
One solution would be to create your own user event at the initialisation of you main and launch a thread which is going to be pulling the value of your scrollbar position:
Then you can build your main as if they were a scrollbar move event.
And dont forget to close the thread and destroy the event at the end.

ScrollPane vertical scroll bar positioning

I have a ScrollPane that holds a number of number of sprites. The sprites are like rows and I would like them to fill the width of the ScrollPane.
My problem is that if there are not enough sprites to fill the vertical space of the ScrollPane, then no Scrollbar appears and there is a narrow gap left on the right side of the ScrollPane. If I make the sprites wider, when the vertical scroll bar does appear some of the sprite is cut off and the horizontal scroll bar appears (I never want the horizontal one to appear).
Is there a way to move the scrollBars? or perhaps another way to solve my issue?

assign your sp's horizontalScrollPolicy (and/or verticalScrollPolicy) to "off".

DataTable Scroll bar Position Changing

Hi,
I have a datatable with scroll bar on 'A' screen and when I go to 'B' screen and come back to 'A' screen again the data table reloads and showing the table from the first record onwards instead of showing the selected n th record by holding the scroll bar state.
Is there any way to scroll the scroll bar of a data table to the particular record either by backend logic or by java script.
I used h:PanelGroup to the data table for scroll bar.

That's getting harder. Put the tables in a block element, e.g. div, and onload set div.scrollTop to the amount of pixels it have to be scrolled. I am not going to give raw code here as you're here in a Java/JSF forum, not a Javascript/DHTML forum. If you still stucks, even after googling on the given keywords, consult DHTML forums like dhtmlcentral.com and dynamicdrive.com.

Help with a vertical scroll bar issue with a List component

hi. i have a basic <s:list> that uses an XMLListCollection as it's data provider and a very basic itemrenderer. when a row in the list is clicked a function gets the list.selectedIndex then populates some text fields with more xml data. that all works fine.. the problem i have is that the vertical scroll bar on the list seems to be "clickable" - just like a row in the list. the scroll bar scrolls normally but when it's clicked the selectedIndex becomes -1 which is not helpful b/c the value -1 is passed to the XMLListCollection.

thanks but still problematic...surely the <s:List> component shouldn't return a value when the scrollbar thumb is clicked? i created a very basic list (see below) and made the list dimensions short enough so that there is a vertical scrollbar and found that when the scrollbar thumb is clicked the trace(event.currentTarget.selectedIndex) returns a number. that's annoying b/c i just want a selectedIndex value for a row that is clicked not the scrollbar.
any ideas to get around? cheers

Flex Tree Vertical Scroll Bar Issue

When i click on the + image of flex tree than first time the vertical scroll bar is not coming but when when i minimize it and again click on + than it appears can any one tell me what is the issue??

Page shift due to vertical scroll bar issue

I'm working through a vertical scroll bar issue in my design, using a ProjectSeven CSS page template. When testing the site in my browsers (FF/Safari/IE/Opera), and IF the scroll bar is not present, the entire page shifts to the left (the width of the scroll bar) when I click a link in the left column of my design. The page does not shift when the vertical scroll bar is present. Support at P7 suggested the following fix:
html, body {
height: 100.1%;
margin: 0 0 1px;
I've tried placing this markup in about ten different places but can't seem to find the right location in the code. Is it possible for someone in the forum to take a look at my page source and show me where/how to locate this fix?

Scenario:
In the viewer I'm working with the mouse vertical scrolling for searching some scenes, then I go to vertical the scrolling bar of the window to scroll in bigger steps... well, the viewer jumps to the previous position.. so I have to start my searching again.... and every time I go the vertical scrolling bar I get this jump to the original position... JScrollPane - change vertical scroll-bar

I am developing an application to be run on a touch-screen monitor. The customer has asked that I make the vertical scroll-bar on the tables easier to use. How do I set the width of the scroll-bar(s) in a JScrollPane?

Do you want to set the width of all vertical scroll bars (and in that case, probably also the height of all horizontal scroll bars too) OR the width of one specific scroll bar of one specific scroll pane?

Problem getting vertical scroll bar in tree

Hi,
I am adding nodes to a tree control dynamically. But somehow,
a vertical scroll bar doesn't appear during the process. I guess,
somehow, the tree is not able to detect the change in the height,
hence, is not giving the vertical scroll bar. However, after a node
has been populated with the sub-nodes, when I close that node and
re-open it, then the scroll bar appears. I really need to fix it as
soon as possible. Plz help!

Focus vertical scroll bar in report div

Hi everyone,
I just want to know if the issue has been resolved by someone :
I have a report within a div and a vertical scrolling bar to scroll the rows. When I click on a row of the report the row is highlighted. Now, if the clicked row is at the end of the report, the scrolling bar goes up, and the user has to scroll down to see the selected row. So how to focus this scrolling bar once the user clicks on the row ?
I guess I have to compute the id of the selected row times the row height and send this value to the css parameter of the scroll bar (but AFAIK there's no such parameter in css for positioning a scroll bar) ... Someone has came up with a solution ?

I didnt' know about the scrollTop attribute. So for those how are interested : Each time I click on a row, I store the scrollTop position in a Hidden field. On each body onload, I call a javascript function to position the scroll bar of the div like this :

Vertical scroll bar disappears when I minimize the screen

I have Firefox 10.0.2. I do have a vertical scroll bar with both the up and down button; however, they all disappear when I minimize the screen. When I am in Ancestry, for example, when I minimize I get a horizontal scroll bar but there is no vertical scroll bar. I have no clue what to do. I minimize screens a lot when I am in Ancestry and it gets very frustrating. Can anyone help?

Some new pages open without a vertical scroll bar...even tho the page is very long.

It only happens with one particular vendors website. They can't explain it. Most of their web pages work fine.
I selected an imbedded link from one page and a new browswer window opens and populates but there is no left margin vertical scroll bar. And there is lots of data below to view. CAnt get there from here.

Does it make any difference if you change the zoom level, such as by holding down Ctrl and tapping the + key or the - key a couple of times?
New windows opened by a script can be customized by leaving out some elements. Presumably if they were doing that, they would know. However, just in case, you could prevent sites from removing the scrollbars from popup windows.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste '''window_o''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''dom.disable_window_open_feature.scrollbars''' preference to switch it from false to true.
(The name of this preference is difficult to understand, but it means that Firefox will block the site from turning off scrollbars on a new window if set to true.)

Vertical scroll bar disappears on the timeline?

After I use the vertical scroll bar once it disappears and I am unable to scroll. If I click the film strip on and off, it comes back. Is there a way to always keep the scroll bar visable on the timeline?

That has got to be a bug. Go to the Motion menu and Provide Motion Feedback... !
Otherwise, you can scroll with your mouse. I use a mouse with a scroll wheel, but I think I remember the magic mouse has a scroll gesture(?).
You can make the layers smaller by mousing over one of the lines in the layers list to the left of the timeline. The cursor should change to a double-pointed arrow. Click and drag the layers smaller.
You can open the timeline window wider by mousing over the Timeline top border, and click drag to make it larger.
I use this feature so rarely that I had never noticed before. When the scroll bar does appear, it's not "fully formed" either -- just a grey bar -- no resize controls on the ends at all.
