Add in the /etc/hosts the IP of the machine and the hostname
Example:
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.1.200 my_hostname
That should do the trick !!! [Don't put that exact IP and Hostname replace with your own ]

LISTNER PROBLEM

Hi friends,
I am in serious problem. I am using AIX, oracle 9, sap4.7
I restore the data files ,orarach,redolog from PRD server to Dummy PRD server(both have same SID & same palteform)
now when i start the listner than it gives a error

And when i reboot the system than it gives an error:-

Installation problem on RHEL ES 4(Nahant Update 2)

I am installing oracle9iR2 (9.2.0.4) (32 bit) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4(32-bit) (update 2). but i am facing following problem during installation.
actually it says
Install is successful.

10g grid control installation (hanging problem) on RHEL AS 4.0

Iam trying to install enterprise manager 10g(10.2.0.1.0) grid control on RHEL AS 4.0. At a stage after specifying security options the OUI hangs for long time (for about 15 mins) then it works fine till 100% installation then hanged for all day which i nevar see - (execute configuration scripts step). After a huge frustration i stopped the installation. Did anyone has come across this kind of problem..can anyone help me out of this problem...thanks in advance..

Oracle Database 10g relase 1 Installation Problem on RHEL 3 ES

Dear all
I'm trying to install oracle database 10g r1 X86_64 on Intel Xeon Machine with EM64T technology with RHEL 3 ES update 2 X86_64 edition. The problem is described below :
Oracle OUI .runInstaller collapsed with such a following error:
An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the
VM.
Unexpected Signal : 11 occurred at PC=0x8077470
Function=[Unknown.]
Library=(N/A)
Is there anyone can help me ??

Check pushitz website and ensure that you have all the required rpms installed properly.
Check the log files in the installation directory. That should give some more details as to what exactly is going on.

Oracle 11g install problem on rhel 4.4

i was trying to install oracle 11g to rhel 4.4
during the install process , there are two warning when runing environment check
one is kernal parameter
i set four kernal parameter like this:
net.core.rmem_default = 262144
net.core.rmem_max = 262144
net.core.wmem_default = 262144
net.core.wmem_max = 262144
but oracle warning me they should be set as 419430
the other is swap space :
i set 2G,but oracle needs 4G.
i neglect them and continue

VLM configuration problem in RHEL 3.0

I am using oracle 10g R2 in RHEL3.0.
My kernel version is 2.4.21-37.ELsmp. So, it will support upto 16GB RAM.
I have 8GB RAM installed and so want to increase SGA size using VLM.

When I start the database, it starts well without errors.
But while maintaining cubes (working for OLAP), the database suddenly gets down.
There is no any alert message in alert_{instance}.log file inside bdump.
Can anyone help me what has happened. What is the cause for database getting shutdown suddently while working.

Listner problem in 11g

We just installed the 11g software and created a database but unable to connect the database through client .

I figured it out. :P It might help other who deal with dynamic Faces. DON'T include form within form. Check html code generated by your program if is form within form then it is bad. get rid of all forms there can only be one form for all components. i.e.
TextInput custom control has its own form
You embedded this control in your page them it inherit its "form" tag too. Keep this in mind

Set your environment correctly according to the installation guide. Obviously lsnrctl is in the path,but ORACLE_HOME is not known or invalid.

I'm having a nightmare with V40z under RHEL 4 update 2!

Dear All,
i have noticed that most of you trying to be very helpfull, i appreciated that really.
I have to work with sun V40z in my company, RHEL 4 update 2 has to be installed in that machine. Problem: Installing RHEL AS V4 Update 2 on V40z results in very slow 2D graphics (e.g. just moving a window around). One CPU (of 4) is permanently around 50-100% as the window are moved. A linux 'top' command clearly shows that it is 'X' (windows) that is taking all the CPU - so we suspect a graphic driver problem.
i have tried using the RHEL drivers supplied by Sun Microsystems with the V40z, however these will not install on RHEL update 2, the driver installation recognises update 2 and reports that the drivers are only supported on Update 1.
I am not too sure where the problem is! is it only drivers!? or i did something wrong?i have spent the whole last week trying to solve this problem searching in different froums and trying countless hints!!
i have tried to switch the graphic drivers to VESA generic instead of Trident Blade 3D but that didnt solve the problem, it actually made it worst!
any help would be appreciated!

I have several v40z's running RHEL 3, not 4, but I'll take a stab at it.
RHEL 4 is a supported OS according to the SUN compatibility matrix, so that isn't an issue.
First, I'll assume that you loaded the full RHEL4 distro, and didn't leave anything out like KDE of GNOME or other desktop packages.
Then, what typically causes poor graphics performance is a driver that is unable to address the screen properly, and uses lots of CPU to 'render' in a next best fit manner graphics instructions that it cannot do natively. This is typically done when a graphics driver for that specific graphics chipset is not found and a default driver is used just to get the system going. The logic is like this: I'll try x, no, doesn't work, try y, no, doesn't work, take the default z which is a really barebones graphics driver that does straight VGA.
I would get the specification for the graphics card on the v40z. Say it is an Nvidia card. Then I'd go the the nvidia site and download the latest linux driver for that card, and load it on top of the RHEL supplied driver.
