Live muse site defaults to tablet when on desktop

I have just published my site to my hosting provider but it keeps showing the tablet version of the site instead of the desktop. I'm reluctant to delete the tablet (and possibly phone) versions but how do I get it to show the right site on the desktop? Is this a bug? Is there a workaround?

That worked for me on my desktop.
Changing the javascript file like that only stops non-touch screens from reporting as tablets. It won't stop laptops or desktops with touch screens from showing the tablet version in Chrome. (Because these touch screens also have more than one touchpoint, like tablets).
How is the above being dealt with?

  • Muse site not displaying correctly when 'Published' to BC

    Hi all
    Strange incidents happening with a Muse site I'm designing for a client. When I use the Publish feature (which uploads the site to the default Business Catalyst domain you get with the Muse subscription) it throws  the elements all over the place, so buttons, type, imaegry and widgets aren't wheere they should be.
    I've cleared the cache, restarted the browser, tried in other browsers and still the same result, so pretty unhappy.
    When I 'Preview' the site in a browser everything seems perfect.
    Bizarre thing is when designing my first ste the opposite was the case; lots of visual problems when using 'Preview' but perfect when 'Published' to BC.
    Anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening?

    Thanks for the reply, think we have the solution. Apparantly Muse is not uploading the updated CSS files. I created a test domain on my own website to use for this project and uploaded via Fetch and everything worked fine.
    So it looks like it's an issue with Muse

  • The Muse-Site is on Tablet sluggish, not smooth. What can i do?

    All Muse-Site are sluggish on Tablet. They don't run smooth and soft. On desktop everything runs fine on scrolling, but not on Tablet. What can i do?

    The larger the number of individual attributes being updated during scrolling the larger the load on the CPU. The larger the amount of image data being moved and clipped at different rates, the more likely it is the CPU/GPU performance will begin to lag on lower performance devices.
    What version of Muse was used to generate the site? Major changes were made to how scroll effects are implemented within the browser to significantly reduce the CPU load when animating multiple attributes and/or objects in the 7.2 release
    A site that makes heavy use of scroll effects in terms of the total number of attributes/objects being animated and/or the total amount of image data being animated will lag on lower powered devices and slower browsers.

  • Adding animated html 5 und js from flash into an existing muse site

    Hi Guys,
    i have a problem adding an animated flash content to a muse site.
    I have done an animation in flash und published it as a html 5 and a js file. fine!
    The next step i do is placing/or importing the html in muse.
    but how to put the js within a script tag, and the image i used in flash into my muse site?
    1. issue: when i combine both scripts (html and js in one script) it does not work/the animation does not work.
    2. issue: when i add the js into the page properties html head section it also doesnt work..
    so where is the problem? or how can i insert the js correctly? should i also upload the image file? where to upload the image file?

    This is a reply to my own message. A work around that will allow our team to move forward is to make a screen capture of a screen capture. We have content experts who are equipped with Camtasia. These folks will make their narrated movies. I'll then capture their movies with Captivate's screen capture by following: Insert > Recording Slide. Google Chrome of course has the Flash player installed by default so I open the mp4 (M4V) or FLV movie via Chrome and use Captivate's Recording Slide, choose Video Demo option. This gets me a Camtasia screen capture into Captivate. Import audio on its own and it matches up with my test of a movie 1 minute long (longer videos might slip out of sync - will test this).
    However, the movie does not have the convenient playbar attached, so video navigation/control can be gained via a Captivate playbar for the slide itself. This offers a double set of navigation options b/c I also created my own set of navigation controls with Flash, but with a simple set of instructions users will know to use bottom playbar for video control and my flash buttons for slide navigation. Its a bit clunky, but this is what I have for now until the engineers have time to target the following:

    I know that they don't actually touch anything on the site. However when you create a tablet version of your site, they "take care" of the redirection to the tablet version. So I am wondering if a search engine views the tablet version as duplicate content when everything is nearly the same... or does muse put something in the code that would let robots know this like a canonical tag?

    Yes, you can publish site and delete it whenever you want to. If you will keep the site in trial mode, you won't be able to add your custom domain to it.

  • Problems with some Muse sites not fitting iPads/tablets properly.

    I have just altered two of my Muse websites to have a 100% browser width slideshow, using the latest version of Muse.
    When viewing on a desktop it looks fine but on an iPad and other tablets, there now seems to be a gap down the right hand side of the whole website as I scroll down.
    I've checked the design and the width's of all backgrounds and other items are the same, with nothing overlapping that may cause this, so I can only presume it's an issue with the new 100% width slideshow?

    As I say on a desktop - no problems but it's when I view the site on a iPad and other tablets.
    Before the new version it worked absolutely fine and there was no need to build the site separately for tablet use.

    It’s hard to say… after 10 minutes my firefox browser, laptop is still trying to load the page but the right hand issue may be your ipone trying to render the scroll bar.
    Off topic; open some of the images in a good editor like photoshop and cut them back to something less annoying in size… at least the ones on the front page.

    Muse is not redirecting to my tablet site on tablets (tried both iPad and Galaxy tabs). http://walkerdesigntablet.businesscatalyst.com should lead to my tablet site, not my desktop site. It previews correctly within Muse with the tablet version....ideas for what's wrong?

    We have seen this issue crop up from you and others, and we are always doing our best to get the problems resolved as quickly as we can. We on the Muse team, and at Adobe as a whole, take a lot of pride in our product, and as such spend a lot of time making sure to identify issues people are having and work to fix the problems as we identify solutions. We understand that your time is valuable, and that issues that prevent you from doing what you need to do with our tools can be costly.
    Most of the time, when we identify issues people are having, we work hard to spend our time, rather than yours, investigating the problem, coming up with a fix, and, if needed, coming up with a workaround solution to get you back up and working as quickly as possible. We want to get out of your way as much as possible and let you use the tools we provide as best you can to be creative and to do your work.
    Occasionally, however, there are times when we are unable to figure out an issue on our own, and have to come back and ask questions, get clarification, and have you help us narrow things down a bit so we can get the issue resolved. More often than not, this is because we aren't able to reproduce the issue you are seeing on our own, and need a bit more info about how you are hitting it so we can see the same thing, and make sure we are addressing your problem. When we do come back with questions or requests for clarifications, we usually do our best to minimize the amount of time you need to spend helping us, while making sure your issue can be resolved as quickly as possible.     As for the confusion regarding the BC vs non-BC difference in site version served, I posted in another thread recently, though that isn't something you'd have necessarily seen, so I'll summarize it here.
    When determining which site to serve up to your visitors, we have different logic between Business Catalyst and a non-Business Catalyst site. On BC, we take advantage of the fact that we have the ability to run code on the server, and that BC already had some of this functionality, to do the processing and redirection behind the scenes. When your visitor sends the request for the webpage, along with that, they send along information about the browser and device they are using to view this information. The information isn't a lot of information, but it is often enough to be able to identify a general type of device being used, and with that information, we look that up in a large database to determine what type of site fits best for that device. We then will redirect the visitor to the appropriate page, if necessary, so they get the right viewing experience.
    When using a non-BC server, however, we do not know what sort of server or resources you have, so we don't run server side code, nor hook into any database. This makes it nearly impossible to do the same thing, so we take a different strategy for deciding what the best viewing experience is so instead, we ask the browser what the dimensions and pixel density are for the monitor or device you are viewing on. From there, we do our best to calculate what type of device you are likely on, using some basic tiers, and redirect to the appropriate layout if necessary.
    Each of these approaches has pros and cons, and we do our best to tweak both of these methods to ensure your site visitors get the best experience they can. But, because we use different methods for determining which site to serve, it does mean that some devices, especially those on the edges of each of the device categories, can change behavior between these two approaches. This is where the difference is coming from.
    The link listed in my previous post is meant to provide us enough information about the device being used so that both approaches can be optimized to get the right experience, which is why I requested the information from it. In this particular case, sometimes it can be a balancing act in making sure that the tweaking for your device doesn't break others, but the more information we have on this matter, often times the more accurate we can be. We have a number of devices we test Muse sites on (I have about a dozen sitting on the desk behind me at the moment, and there are more in other peoples' offices), but sadly there are just too many devices in the world for us to have them all, so getting more information about things when we are serving the wrong page is important.
    I'm sorry you are having problems, and hopefully you can understand our request for a bit more info to help us come to a solution.

    By search you are referring to Google search ?? or you are using any search module in your site and the keywords shows same topic multiple times on page ?
    Please elaborate more, provide site url.
    Regarding using keywords, description etc, you can add that to your page using page properties > metadata section.
