Live Upgrade broke my SJS Application Server

I'm trying to live upgrade a server to the Solaris 10 10/08, from 11/06. During the live upgrade I got the following error:

INFORMATION: </var/s on boot
environment <sol10_1008_stage1> contains a list of packages that failed to
upgrade or install properly. Review the file before you reboot the system
to determine if any additional system maintenance is required.File contents:

Any input would be appreciated.

    Hi Paz,
Thanks for taking the time :)
    To answer your questions:
    1. Has this WebServices ever worked or is this the first time?
The web service is working perfectly fine on my working station, the problem appears only when I deploy it on my actual server, which means that the web service is working.
    2. What Apache Axis Version are you using?
    1.4
    3. What JRE version are you using?
Both my development pc and my server run jre 1.5.0_14
    4. In the actual server environment, can you confirm all information are exactly same as DEV environment...
    Oh yes! Absolutely.
My recent assumption is that some windows service might be needed to run the web service client and obviously I have no clue which one it might be.
Just to make sure; is the security policy of my Application Server set correctly?

  • Is it possible to upgrade to Java System Application Server 8.2

    Hello,
I am using Java Studio Enterprise 8 with JSAS 8.1.
Can I upgrade to JSAS 8.2? How to do that?
Or does Java Studio Enterprise 8 not support JSAS 8.2?
    Thanks,
    Kuifje.

I guess you can try installing 8.2 and registering it in the IDE. If it works - cool, nothing lost otherwise. You can as well upgrade the IDE to NetBeans 5.5 Preview, it supports 8.2 as well as 9.0. And there will be another release soon.

  • Solairs 9 Live Upgrade

    Dear All
I am upgrading Solaris 8 to Solaris 9 using live upgrade on Sun Enterprise 450 Server . All the steps are completed but i am getting problem only while activating the boot environment of Solaris 9. Upgrading was successfully completed from Solaris 9 (1of2) CD . While i am activating the ABE for solaris 9 , it says that the upgrade is not completed and some packages still need to be installed and giving Error 142. If i continue upgrading from the CD (2of2) it is not accepting . Can anyone suggest how to complete the upgrade process so that i can activate Boot environment .
    Thanks / Regards

Use remove SUNWXall then upgrade SUNWXall in your OS-Profile.

  • Bug in bundled Application Server prohibits Acegi security integration

I am using JSC 2, Update 1 and have run into a problem trying to integrate Acegi security into my Web app. After some hours of frustration I have found that the problem apparently stems from a bug in the bundled Sun Application Server (version 8.2). If I deploy my application to Tomcat 5.5, the problem disappears.
The exception that occurs on the bundled Sun Application Server is:
    java.lang.ClassCastException: org.acegisecurity.providers.UsernamePasswordAuthenticationToken
For information about the appserver bug that causes this exception look at:
    http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=13150&messageID=83666
The last three entries in the above thread discuss the problem and also link to other places where the problem is discussed. See in particular these links:
    https://glassfish.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=221
    and
    http://www.jroller.com/page/agrebnev?entry=acegi_does_not_work_at
The Glassfish bug database indicates that the bug was fixed in the b38 version of Glassfish. However, the fix apparently hasn't made it into the bundled Sun Appserver 8.2.
I hope this information will spare someone else the frustration of hunting down the source of this problem. Since Acegi is becoming a very popular option for adding security to Java webapps, I probably won't be the only person to run into this little gotcha.
Also, I'd appreciate any info the Creator team can provide about when the bundled appserver might be fixed.
    Thanks,
    Charlie

Could someone on the Creator team please comment on this issue? Is there any plan to upgrade the bundled Sun Application Server to version 9.0? (I'm assuming this bug is fixed in 9.0 -- although I haven't been able to verify that. Actually, I'm not very clear on the relationship between the various Glassfish versions and the various Sun Application Server versions.) Or is there a plan to support Glassfish and/or Tomcat as development servers (rather than just deployment servers).
It seems like my only other possible alternative is to use Netbeans 5.5 with the Visual Web pack. But since the Visual Web pack is a pre-beta release I'm leery about using it for developing a production Web app.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • New install of SJS Ent 8 on Solaris, can't start Application Server 8.1

    Hello,
    Appreciate in advance your help.
Just downloaded and installed SJS 8.1 on a new Sun Solaris 10 box. I'm able to run the IDE and have started the Tomcat server, but when attempting to start the SJS 8.1 application server, I get:
The Sun Java System Application Server 8.1 could not start.
More information about the cause is in the Server log file.
    Possible reasons include:
    - Port conflicts. (use netstat -a to detect possible port numbers already used)
    - Incorrect server configuration
    - Corrupted Deployed Applications
    The problems are:
    - There is no server.log file in the expected directory at /opt/sun/jstudio_ent8/AppServ8.1UR2/domains/myDomain1/logs
    - I ran netstat -a, but could glean no useful information
    - I have not modified the server configuration since the new install
    - I have not deployed my application (since I can't start the server).
Forgive my ignorance since I'm not a Solaris expert. I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

No difference in server.log after setting level="FINEST".
Don't know if it would help, but the contents of my server.log file follow:

how to have a live feed from application server log file (realtime viewr for apps log files)
hi , thank you for reading my post.
is there any way to have a live feed of Application server log ?
for example is there any application that can watch the log file and show the changes as new log items come in ?
can some one with more experience help ?

Your question would be more suited to the Developer Forums
    http://devforums.apple.com
    but anyway...
My goal is to develop a web application that is able to run on iPhone too, to capture the audio and video content from its camera and mic.
Web Apps running in Safari don't have access to the camera or mic hardware.
Or I should built a native application distributed through Apple store?
That is your only option, although such a system already exists:

  • How to make upgrade from application server and not from central instance?

    Hello SAP Gurus!
I have SAP ECC release 6.0, and I´m gonna make upgrade to enhancement package 6.06, do you know if Can I make upgrade from application server, but not from central instance?
    Thanks.

    Hi Victor,
Upgrade process has to execute from the server where message server is running.
So I guess it is not possible to initiate the SAP upgrade  from application server.

  • Application server problem after upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0

    Hi all,
We have recently upgraded our test server form 4.6C to ECC 6.0.
In one of the programs we are using open dataset to write files to
application server. This particular folder had been mapped through "Map Network
Drive function" in windows. The path we have given in the program
    as "<Drive>:\<Folder>\File Name".
    Code :
    <b>DATA : zdsnb(45).
    ZDSNB = 'R:\SAPPayroll\zpaysheet.prn'
OPEN DATASET zdsnb IN TEXT MODE.</b>
In 4.6C this particular format was reading without any problem. But
after the upgrade, system is throwing an error "File cannot be read".
We have checked the NTFS share rights and rights for the mapped drive.
    It's "Everyone" full access.
Our OS: Windows 2003 server 64 bit
    Database : MS SQL 2005 64 bit.
Most of HR related testing is based on this access. Pl suggest a
solution, so that we can go ahead with our testing and upgrade of other
    servers.

Am a little confused by which way your slashes are going, but if they're Ok try adding phrases below.
    open dataset p_uxfile <b>for input</b> in text mode <b>encoding default</b>.

  • Upgrade JVM in sun java system application server

    Hi:
Recently I've been trying to deploy some new applycation in my sun java system application server 9 running on solaris 8. When I attemp to do it the server throw me a exception because the server jvm is older than my pc jvm. Then I follow the steps I find in http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19501-01/819-3653/819-3653.pdf to upgrade the jvm in the server, however the exception persists. It seems like I have not do anything. Can anyone help tell me how to upgrade the jvm ?

You need to delete all the files under the 'generated' directory to force the server to recompile them after the JDK upgrade. Also check in domain.xml and make sure the JVM parameter is pointing to the JDK that you have installed. It is also worthwhile to check asenv.conf to see which JDK that file is pointing to as well.

  • Sun Java Application Server 8.1 Upgrade Solaris 9 to Solaris 10

I have Sun Java Application Server 8.1 (version 8.1_02 (build b06-fcs) ) and HA which are currently installed on Solaris 9 box (Sparc).
Now, I plan to upgrade Solaris 9 to Solaris 10. What should I need to do before and after migration?
    Thanks.

Before I start, disclaimer -- I have no knowledge of Hibernate and the following comments are based on the stack trace you have included.
I think your permissions might be set all right but you might have an error in the hibernate query. It looks like hibernate uses antlr to parse the queries. While parsing the query, antlr is encountering an exceptional condition and is trying to exit the VM (by calling System.exit()). Obviously, the hibernate code does not have that permission and therefore the exception is logged.
My guess is if you fix the query such that hibernate/antlr can parse it, you will not run into this error.
    Hope this helps,

  • Upgrade 10g Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.3.3

    Dear All,
I am very new to application server
we have an 10g Apps Server Release 2 10.1.2.0.2 and we want to upgrade this server to Release 3 10.1.3.3
J2ee Applications are deployed on this application server which we want to upgrade
Can anybody please help me in this regard?
    thanx in advance

10.1.2.0.2 is the BI and Forms install. 10.1.3.3 has no BI and Forms install. The next version to include BI and Forms will be 11g, which was initially slated to ship last winter but has been delayed. If you need BI & Forms the highest you can go is 10.1.2.0.2. If you want to license an additional install, you can put 10.1.3.3 onto another server.
