Livemotion

Hola a todos
¿Alguien sabe si ocurrirá algo con Livemotion?
Saludos

Hola, Juan.
Claudio.

  • Two LiveMotion on same PC, how to install?

    Hi
I'm having trouble installing two LiveMotion webcams on the same PC.
Plugging the second camera shows "Unknown device" at Windows XP Device Manager.
Trying to manually install the driver for that device, fails (no camera shows at
drivers list after selecting the *.inf file)
I could manage to install both if one is plugged to an USB 2.0 port, and the other
to USB ., but then WebCam Center shows one camera fine, but when selecting the other
camera, it shows a black screen.
I've tried on other PCs (modern 3.2Ghz machines with lots of ram and disk, etc), and also on PC's using Windows 2003 Server, XP Pro, etc. Same problem.
Should I tweak the registry ?
Any suggestions will be appreciated ! regards !

    teechart,
If you are connecting the WebCam to the same USB controller in the computer. The USB controller might not be able to provide enough power to the two WebCam and thus this will lead to unable to detect the hardware which I believe is the exact case as it works fine when you used another USB controller(Your USB.) to connect the second WebCam. You could try using a powered USB hub to test this and see if you get the same problem.

  • Picture going black with LiveMotion

Hi, I have 6 web cameras (4 Creative Live Motion and 2 Phillips). I prefer the LiveMotion due to Pan/tilt but also have 2 Phillips due to high light sensivity of only 1 lux.
My problem is that it seems to occur some kind of problem with the LiveMotion webcam driver. I am running 5 webcams 24/7 in my vacation home and it is quite annoying when the picture goes black on the LiveMotion cameras. It is several weeks (sometimes moths) between each time I visit my vacation home so I do not have the opportunity to disconnect and connect the camera (USB-plug) to reinstall the drivers.
This have happened once on three of the LiveMotion connected PCs and twice (now for the second time) on one of the PC/webcams. I have noticed that on old/slow computers the image may go black but is possible to retrieve again by reducing the image resolution/size, frame rate etc. However all these LiveMotion cameras is connected to Pentium 4 PC's with Windows XP pro SP2 and a minimum of 1 GB RAM. 2 of the PC's do however not have USB2, only USB1/1.1
Visiting my vacation home I was able to disconnect the webcams and reinstall the driver and got back a correct image (not black) and the mentioned 3 LiveMotion Webcams and PCs. Now (6 moth later) for the second time the image from one of the webcams has gone BLACK ...and I am not able to fix it by reducing image size, frame rate etc nor can I reinstall the webcam driver since I can not disconnect and reconnect the webcam cable.
Any suggestions on what to do/try to fix this problem remotely (over winXP RDP)?

That shouldn't happen. Reboot and hold down the option key. Choose the Lion Restore Disk to boot from. Select Disk Utilities from the menu and run Repair Disk.

  • LiveMotion 2 question - I know this is GoLive

Hey if you guys are still using GoLive, you might be using LiveMotion as well.  I still use it and get a lot out of it.
I am having an issue with creating a "play" button.  I created a stop button but the play button gives me an error message.
Here are the settings and error message.

  • My first Adobe LiveMotion attempt

I know I am supposed to be working on a Premiere Pro single track editing tutorial, but I had to take time out and help my wife's brother put up a web site. Don't expect anything too fancy, and I didn't design the dart game, but I did design the banner.
I sat down after breakfast on Saturday, and before lunch (the same day) I had opened LiveMotion 2.0 for the first time, designed an animation using clipart I downloaded from the Adobe site, and created a Flash movie to put on a web site.
If Premiere were this easy, everyone would be editing instead of hanging out here!
Check out my meager attempt. But remember, this is the first one I have ever done.
You can even play the dart game, if you wish. But don't linger too long. You have footage to edit, remember? :-)
By the way, apparently all of the folks in that type of business use 800X600 screens because the people who order delivery services are the admins and warehouse people who don't ever get new PCs. So I designed it for 800X600.
It is just a placeholder until he decides what he wants. But it was an interesting exercise.

    Steven

In general Flash animations and sites are designed for 800x600 screens. You'd be surprised by how many people are actually still using that resolution or something close to it. The last thing you want is for a group of people not to be able to see your entire animation.
Look at the Total Training website's front page, which I believe was done in LM2. It's pretty small on my 1280x1024 screen, but its probobly huge, like full screen on an 800x600.
Just one of the joys of catering to a wide variety of people. They don't call it
    i world
    wide web for nothin' ;-)

  • Upgrading from LiveMotion...

Some of you may remember a cracking piece of software the nice people at Adobe created in the late 90s called LiveMotion. I have been using LiveMotion for 10 years quite happily, but I have reached the limitations of the software now and need to upgrade.
I assumed Illustrator was the best upgrade (as I use mainly the graphic design capabilities of LiveMotion rather than the Flash creation thingy) - however having downloaded the demo, I was dissapointed to find no obvious way of using object layers I realise you can group objects together, or create whole canvas layers, but in LiveMotion you could add a number of indepenent layers to a square or circle, intersect objects with others etc etc.
Am I being retarted, or is there no way to do with with Illustrator? I have searched the web for "Illustrator Object Layers" with little sucess. Could someone please advise me whether this is still possible. Or if there is another software package which I might find easier to upgrade to from LiveMotion.
    Thanks.

LiveMotion was Adobe's short-lived answer to Flash before Adobe just gave up the uphill battle and bought Macromedia to acquire Flash. As such, it's real purpose was web-centric vector animation, like Flash. As an animation program, its features and interface (like the "object layers" you mention) were designed to facilitate animation (like button states or Symbol frames that are, in effect, separate layers that move and transform along with the objects).
Illustrator is a much older program originally intended for static illustration destined for print in a PostScript environment. It parallels programs like Altsys/Aldus/Macromedia FreeHand, Corel Draw, Deneba/ACD Canvas.
    Two things:
First, you mention having been using LiveMotion mainly for static illustration and having run up against its limitations in that regard. That's quite understandable, because programs like it (including Flash) typically have a comparitively rudimentary set of drawing features. That's understandable, because the program's primary thrust is animation, not drawing. Simple practicality necessitates at least basic drawing capability, but just as with Flash, when your drawing needs exceeed the built-in features, you switch to a drawing program, draw your vector paths, and import them into the animation progam.
Inversely, programs like Illustrator have more drawing features, and only a few "me, too" sub-feature "hooks" to animation programs. Based on your description, it sounds like you would be better off using a drawing program for your purposes. But you should expect a considerably longer learning process--especially with Illustrator--because of all the programs in its category, its interface is the most confused and least intuitive. If you decide to focus on Illustrator, trust me: You need to start by setting aside any and all LiveMotion-based expectations. Put your mind in "clean slate mode," read the documentation start to end and work through the procedures it describes as you progress. Users who think they can just "jump right in" with a program like Illustrator just end up lengthening their learning process and leaving too many basic gaps in their understanding.
Second, you mention the specific "Object Layers" feature. You are probably correct in your suspicion that the "under-the-table" constructs of so-called Object Layers in LiveMotion are functionally much the same thing as Layers and Groups in programs like Illustrator. That is, both are object-based programs, and their files' content is therefore basically a bunch of individual objects stacked in a specific order. Within any big consectutively-stacked set of objects, you can organize them into "bunches" any way you want. One program may label the "bunches" Layers, or SubLayers, or Groups, or Appearances and another may call them Object Layers or Frames or whatever.
But what you have to bear in mind is, while constructs are often much the same under-the-table, that "table" (the user interface) is quite thick. It imposes a particluar way of thinking on the user, based on alot of assumptions about what the user intends to do, or (often in the case of Illustrator) a seemingly arbitrary rationale. That's why the above admonition: You simply have to clear your expectations and work through the documentation in order to come to understand the (often dubious) "logic" of the program. You have to learn how Illustrator's interface "thinks" so that you can "think like Illustrator" when using it, because like it or not, you are trapped above that thick and quite opaque "table."
In some ways, the kind of construct you are seeking (Object Layers) would probably be more akin to Appearances in Illustrator than to Layers or Groups. The so-called Appearance palette lets you do what seems like applying additional Strokes, Fills, and Effects to what seems like a single object. These attributes (not to be confused with Attributes, another Illustrator interface term), collectively called Appearances, are, of course, actually additional copies of the source object that have their own stacking order and that get re-drawn on-the-fly. So if you alter "the" object, all its additional copies (Appearances; additional strokes, fills, effects) get re-created accordingly in near real-time.
It gets more confused than that. As described in the previous paragraph, you can apply Appearances to objects. Well, in Illustrator's world, a Group of objects is, in itself, another Object. So is a Layer. So is a Compound Shape (created with the Shape Mode Pathfinders). So you can apply additional Appearances at any of those logical grouping levels; you can apply Apperances at the base Object level, or to the Group and/or the Layer in which the base Object resides.
As you can imagine, it all gets quite confused. What's an Apperance versus an Attribute? What's a Tracing (a "Live Trace group") as opposed to a Live Paint Group? Again, picking the brains of other users (who may very well be--and quite often are--just as confused as you) in a forum like this one little issue at a time, is not the way to learn a program like Illustrator.
So again: Clear your expectations. Read the documentation.
All that said, one more thing:
You have conveyed very little at all about what your actual use is. What are you designing for? What is your market area? What is the intended delivery method of your graphics? Are you a hobbiest? A web-centric designer? A print-centric designer? A manufacturing employee with a very specific vertical market need? Are you handing off your work to a web developer? A set of printing vendors? All of the above?
Adobe's whole marketing scheme of recent years is toward its expensive bundles (so-called Creative Suites). Thankfully, you can still buy the individual apps; but the pricing is structured to entice you buy a suite. Many many people do, and end up with alot of expensive software they have no need for and will never use. Then they become "trapped" into a bundle upgrade scheme.
Based on what very little information you have provided so far (a Live Motion user who doesn't actually use it for its primary purpose, but only for "graphics"), I'm inclined to recommend your taking a look at Xara Designer Pro. Its quite powerful, but its interface is far less confused than Illustrator's. You can use it for standalone print-destined vector illustration, and you can easily export its pages--just as they are--as functional web pages. Those pages can contain interactivity (links, buttons, rollovers) and even some animation. It's a clean, feature-rich, versatile standalone application, and quite a comparitive bargain.

  • SWF from Livemotion

    Hi
I have dragged and dropped a SWF created in Adobe Livemotion into Keynote and all I get is a question mark icon. Is it possible Keynote does not support SWF files created in Livemotion?
    Thanks / Eckhard

I think Ken drake (kyn on these forums) has used LiveMotion to create things for Keynote before, but I don't remember if he was using Flash or some other output. Keynote will usually play whatever QT can play, but the basic rule is, if it's Flash 5 or lower it'll play. You might want to check the settings in the export window and try a few things. Make sure there's no compression setting too, as that might affect playback ability.

  • Where is pan/tilt software for livemotion?

I used to have this software before, but I threw away the installation cd.
I can not see where to download the "Pan & Tilt Control" software.. The only thing I get is the web cam center, which is different.
I hope I'm just a very poor searcher...

apparently there is one in development now, similar to iStar

Forum und helfe Euch wo ich kann.

    Hallo Forumkollegen

  • Simple button help needed!

I want to make a simple round button that glows when you
mouse over it and depresses when you click it.
Apparently to do this I need to use Filters to make the glow
and bevels. But Filtersonly work on movie clips, buttons and text.
So I make a circle and convert it into a button symbol
(Btn1). Then I make another button symbol (Btn2) and use the first
button symbol (Btn 1) on the Up Over and Down frames of Btn 2.
Assorted Filters are applied to Btn 1 on the Up Over and Down
frames to get the effects I want.
I test the button (Btn2) using Enable Simple Buttons. It
works perfectly - glows on mouse over and depresses on click. Then
I try Test Movie -- and the button doesn't work!!!
Not does it work when exported as a SWF file!!!
I watched a tutorial video that came with my Flash Pro 8
Hands-On-Training (HOT) book and he used pretty much the same
technique -- except he only tested his button with Enable Simple
Buttons. I'll bet my house his didn't work with Test Movie either!
The stupid thing, is I was just able to achieve exactly what
I wanted very quickly using LiveMotion 2!
What is wrong here? Why is it so impossible to create a glow
button in Flash? Why has it been easy in Live Motion for years?
    All help appreciated!
    Thanks
    craig

I thought the nesting button situation might be the problem
BUT there is no other way to apply Filters to Up, Down, etc. Also,
a freaking tutorial book described that as a valid method, but
    obviously it ain't.
I tried using movieclips as well but basically had the same
    problem.
I mentioned LiveMotion 2 because that ancient program can do
easily what Flash Pro 8 seems incapable of.
What is the logic behind not allowing Filters to be applied
    to simple graphics? It's absurd!
There's got to be a way...

  • 2 macs share same hard drive?

I need help with a solution.
I need to use older Adobe Software (LiveMotion) Unfortunately, it does not work with OS X beyond 10.3.
I want to use the new OS X on my G5.
I want to use one of my older Macs, I have a G4 and a G3, (would prefer to use G3), and leave it set with older system software to design in, but, use my G5 for everything else.
This will only work if the 2 computers can share a hard drive (firewire), or have access to the same hard drive.
How simple is it to share a monitor with the two?
Or I can set up two separate stations as long as I have access to the hard drives.
    thanks for any help.

    Hi George
You can share your hard drive files through Personal File Sharing. By default, this will share out your user folder (or the whole hard drive, if you log in as admin), but you can customize this more using SharePoints (which I recommend).
You can share a single monitor (and keyboard and mouse, if you like) between two Macs using a KVM switch such as this one.

  • Cannot install GoLive 8.01 0n new MacBook Pro/Snow leopard

Purchased a brand new MacBook Pro (with the new Snow leopard) so I could leave my house and still work.
The most important application I use is Adobe golive CS2 8.01.
I have the 6.0 disk, and the upgrade registration number but they will not install in the MacBook Pro/Snowleaopard. I've tried 50 times. It will allow an install of the 6.0, but says my registration number is invalid for the upgrade.
Adobe doesn't support the product anymore on any level. I'm beside myself. The laptop is worthless to me without that application.
I've tried replacing the keylogin, prefs reinstalls etc... nothing.
I'm desperate. If anyone has any ideas, please help.

Downgrading, install GL, then upgrade sounds like a good move. Let me know if it works... if you do it. I understand the frustration of having to go to all this trouble. I've had my share of problems lately. First my MBP hard drive went bad. Had to reinstall everything. Then I took it on a trip so I could keep up with client work, and it died again. Took it to Apple in Portland, Maine. They had to ship it off for repairs again. This time the Logic Board and Video Display. Now my G5 is acting up again. Often too busy to deal with it.
I'll follow along to see how things go for you. Keep us posted if you would.

  • How to make a title randomly 'jumping around', not 'flowing'?

I'd like to create my own 'watermark title'.
Idea: the ©k.schluter slightly rotates a bit and randomly (done), and 'jumps' randomly across the screen.
Apply a 'random generator' to the titles x/y position, makes it moving/flowing.
What I want is an instant move to a new, random position.
    I miss a parameter - which one?
    Even better would be:
that title isn't onscreen all time, just 'now&then, here&there'
    thanks in advance!

I would absolutely love to have conditionals. Also, more access to different kinds of data, like: the bounding boxes of text areas, groups, current states of emitters (all of these have dynamic bounding rectangles.) In the link behavior, a switched alternative to scale: a mathematical function... would be OUTSTANDING (as long as it can be relinked by "chain" in other behaviors. Shouldn't be too difficult to manage -- works just like a spreadsheet; one of the oldest formula applications on computers. I personally would rather see any conditional/language-like instructions implemented as JavaScript and NOT BASIC (or: !BASIC), or even as ActionScript (basically a specialized JavaScript) was implemented in LiveMotion (Adobe, ca: 2000-2003).  I would like to have timers (setTimeout, setInvterval) that would not be interfered with by FCPX retiming and users stretching or collapsing effects in the storyline (an automatic Clip.stop() could be called at the end of the last visible frame in FCPX).
As for node-based apps, all we really need is a way to integrate Quartz Composer projects/modules into Motion -- with links into and out of the Quartz project. That would be pretty cool too.
There is, supposedly: FXPlug... but after 30+ years, I'm getting too old to learn another language (Objective C which looks just nasty to this old C programmer) and there is too little information (example code) online about developing plugins with it... at this time... for someone like me, that is. The last serious Mac Programming I did involved the "Toolbox" and "Quickdraw", and a 16/32-bit 68K Motorola microprocessor. By the time the G3's came out, I had pretty much moved over to web technologies (Java, JavaScript, PHP, etc.) Bottom line: I need more help than I can find and the people who are actually developing these things aren't sharing.

  • Re-Opening Pages?

Hello and please pardon my simple question. I am just beginning to use iWeb and don't see how I can save (I use "save to folder") and then later reopen an existing page I have created. I am used to working in LiveMotion where the files are saved with the .liv extension and can be reopened and changed later. Is there a similar feature in iWeb? My particular problem is being able to add additional links later to an existing page once I have saved it. I am creating a series of QT movies that I want to link to. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
    Rick

    Rick,
Everytime you do a "Publish to Folder" or "Publish to .Mac" or you quit the iWeb program, it automatically saves all of your work into a file called "Domain" in your /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ directory. This is the central repository for all of iWeb's information about your website. Because of this file, everytime you open iWeb, your website will be available for your to edit/update.
So in order to open your web page to edit it, all you have to do is to open iWeb. Once you are finished editing, then you would choose "Publish to Folder" if you intend to upload to your own server. iWeb will then regenerate the entire website for you in a folder. Your changes will also be saved automatically into the Domain file for the next time you open iWeb. This way, the information in the Domain file always reflects what has been published from iWeb (unless you make "custom edits" to the HTML code).

When I install new languages in ISpellingMgr implementation it adds entries to the application language list permanently i.e. if I remove my plugin - names of my languages still persist (because they were written to "InDesign Defaults" file). Is there any way to change such behavior? I need new languages only in current session.

    I'm starting lesson 8 so far !
It's not that difficult, compared to the latest Quark Express version we used.
I have to admid (so far...) InDesign seams to be more "user-friendly" !
We decided to start with InDesign, for the simple (logical) reason having the benefits of the real compatibility between other Adobe products.
We use (since decades) Adobe products: Illustrator & Photoshop mostly.
What i deplore by Adobe, is the lack of client concerning. BUSINESS is THE major aim they have in mind !
How many products Adobe decided to stop with...? While thousants of users insisted to keep it on the market ?
No way, they like to prove they have the power !
Adobe Dimensions : Adobe Streamline : Adobe LiveMotion : Adobe Type Manager...SVG : Remember ? How many others ?
We live in a technical evolution, correct, but not necessarely justified. Except for Financial Managers...!
And the human people is under influence of those manipulated situation, and is in a real trowback period !
