Living in switzerland... don't want Swiss iTunes store as "Home" store ...
American living Switzerland ... not really interested in Swiss top ten or reviews in German ... I started with iTunes from the US then suddenly I was redirected to Switzerland .... since then haven't found a way to set the startup store back to US .... anybody got any tips ??? Probably all automated with my email address ending .ch
Sorry, then, but with a Swiss billing address, the Swiss store is the only one you can use. This is by demand of the record companies and other content owners who don't want to allow cross-border sales. Note that if the credit card was issued by a US bank, then even with a Swiss billing address, you may not be able to open an account even in the Swiss iTunes Store. Usually the card must be both issued by a bank in the country in which you have your residence and must be billed there before it will work.

Don't want ENTIRE iTunes library on Apple TV 2
I don't want my entire iTunes library available in the living room on my Apple TV, so in iTunes > Preferences > Sharing I selected "Share selected playlists" and checked the 8 or 10 playlists I do want to share. However, the Apple TV is not recognizing that! How can I make this work?

By inconvenient I mean if I want the rest of the family to be able to listen to iTunes on the Apple TV (with the new user account I created for that purpose) it means I can't use my desktop computer in my own user account, because only one account can be open at a time.
And by not fully effective I mean that even though the new user account on the Apple TV sees only the music that I've put into that library, the user STILL has access to every TV show I've ever purchased (or downloaded free) because they were bought with the same Apple ID. Grrrrrr.
But if I create a separate Apple ID for the new computer user account, I assume it will not let that account have access to (share) ANY of my iTunes purchases, music and all?
This is frustrating enough that I'm almost tempted to return the Apple TV to the store before its two-week refund period is up.

How can I delete the apps I don't want to update, from the App Store Notification list?
The number of apps, waiting to be updated is growing, and growing! I want that number to go away. I am not going to update the ones I don't want.
How can I clear the list, so I only see the number of ones I have not looked at - the new notifications?You can't clear the notifications unless you udate the apps. There is nothing that you can do about it - unless you delete every trace of those apps everywhere - in iTunes, your iPad, all iDevices .... and I still don't think that totally eliminates the updates. If you download an App and it is tied to your ID, the notifications will appear somewhere - maybe not on the iPad - but in iTunes at least.

I'm probably being really dumb, but I can't work out how to remove music/vids etc from my ipod but retain them in my itunes library on my PC . I haven't got room for everything on my 8gb ipod touch. I just want to put stuff on there when I want to watch/listen to it. If it get's full I want to just take it off but put it back on at a later date. My ipod touch is new - I had an older generation ipod before and didn't have a problem with this. Is it because I have signed up to icloud or something? If so, how can I change it?
You can manually manage or you can sync by playlist/artist/album/genre/checked songs.

I am having difficulty updating my iphone apps. Living in Bermuda it wants to default to a nonexistant Bermuda app store. I solved by turning off the location finder, but this is a function I use and need, and dont want the hassle of constantly switching back and forth. Is there a simple solution
I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/ -

My user ID was created when I was living in Switzerland.
Now I live in Brazil.
When I installed my Apple ID, it says the products I buy are from the Swiss Apple.
Since I now live in Brazil, I would like to change that, otherwise my purchases will be in Swiss Francs.
How can I change this?

My husband has a ton of songs in iTunes that I don't want on my iPod nano. Is there a way to set up a separate account on the same computer in iTunes? Do I have to un-tick all of his songs (would take forever!! And then he would have to tick them again)....when we sync our iPods?
No. Its not possible.
Alternatively, create another user account in your computer. Install iTunes in that account with the library you wish to sync. -
I recently purchased a song from itunes and when the song downloaded, it deleted/removed my entire song library. Only leaving the one song.
My photos and aps are still there, but no songs. Anyone ever encounter this and how do you fix it? I don't want to loose my songs as some are not in MY itunes library. HelpIf the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup. -
My PC died and in turn so did my main iTunes library. My iPhone was synced to the library that is gone. Now when I try to connect to another library, it tells me the phone must be wiped clean before I can manage music with new library. Any way around that? I don't want to lose the music that is on my phone. I am looking for a way to tell the phone to "forget" the old library and let me start working with a new library.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone. Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos,etc) , your contacts and your calendars. So do NOT sync yet. This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data. Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync. They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup. -
I have the latest version of iTunes and when I went to go open it, it can't! It says: "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.Error 7 (Windows error 126)" What do I do now? Should I uninstall and try installing it again? I don't want to loose any of my music and info. PLEASE HELP!
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Bug? iTunes forced me to encrypt backup - I don't want this. How can I stop it?
It's all in the title really...
When I just did the latest sync of my wife's phone, iTunes insisted that the backup needs to be encrypted. I looked down, the option is unchecked. It has never been checked. I unplugged the phone. I shutdown itunes and rebooted. But when I plugged her phone in again, it again has said I MUST encrypt this backup. Why have I never needed to do this before? Why has apple decided I must do this now?
So reluctantly I put a password on it, thinking that once it's on, I can uncheck it later.... nope...
So I enter a password, which I REALLY don't want to do.
I sync, backup complete... The encryption option is now dulled, I can't uncheck it...
Changing the password does nothing to remove it because you can't leave the new password blank.
I have not forgot my password, I just don't want one.
and please, no suggestions or comments that I should encrypt them all, it's up to me. I just don't want it for either of our phones!
edit: and now it's done it to my phone too... This is BS...

Doing this has allowed me to make an unencrypted backup of my phone! YAY!!!
It has also allowed me the option of UNCHECKING the encryption option on my wife's phone...
As you can see, I can uncheck it, and it gives me an option to enter the password to UNLOCK the encryption.
This has now been done and encryption removed!!!
Message was edited by: iMadivad - in trying to unlock the backup, I initially used the wrong password. I had actually put the innitial password in incorrectly. It took quite a few goes at getting it right, I had mistyped a double character sequence. I had at least 10 goes at getting this right, it appears there's no limit to the number of times you can try and get the password right - I suppose, this is why there are brute force attacks on unlocking this file out there. -

You should never update without importing your photos as you would with any digital camera.
The pics are very likely gone.
