Load balance not working right with jdbc connection string?

For months we've used the following connection string to get Tomcat to open connections to our Oracle 10g RAC:
jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST
= db1vip) (PORT = 1521)) (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = db2vip)
(PORT = 1521)) (LOAD_BALANCE = yes) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl) (PREFER_LEAST_LOADED_NODE_ORCL = OFF) ) )
Today, db2 became inaccessible during prime time, and the web app completely hung--when you tried to type in a username and password to log into the site, it would just hang indefinitely, and the Tomcat log files were complaining about being unable to open a connection to the database because of a network adapter error.
I would have expected the JDBC driver Tomcat was using to just switch to the other database server, but none of our Tomcat machines did that, and I'm wondering why (they all just hung trying to connect to db2). Our guess is that the difference this time is not that Oracle was down on db2, but that db2 was down entirely. Maybe that connection string works only if the server is up when the database is down, and not when the server is unreachable (we couldn't SSH to the box, and when we tried to get to it locally using a remote access card, a lot of options were grayed out and we couldn't see a shell, so all we could do was reset the box).

  • Load balance not work,still sending new connects to node at100% CPU usage

    Trying to verify that Oracle RAC load balancing ( using Load Balance Advisor and services) is working before I recommend changes to a production RAC DB.
    Even though I bury (100%CPU usage) one of 2 nodes ,new connections(using a new service I created and set GOAL=SERVICE_TIME and CLB_GOAL = SHORT ) still connecting there.( connection split stays at 50/50) . Any ideas why ?
    nodes are HP Itanium ( hpux 11.23) , database version is 10.2.0.5
    There are 2 RAC databases on this cluster (one TEST and one Model Office)

    Hi Dan,
    you will have to point all your systems to the Web Dispatcher in the SLD. If you don't do this, the browser will always retrieve the URL to the central instance, bypassing the Web Dispatcher. After you configured as the system to contact the Web Dispatcher, the browser will receive the URL of the Web Dispatcher and send the request to the Web Dispatcher.
    On the Web Dispatcher, you'll have to configure an appropriate rule to handle that request. You can use 1 IP and different ports. Each port means another system. Or several virtual IPs and the same/different port.
    IP1:8001 -> WD -> BI 1
    IP1:8002 -> WD -> BI 2
    or
    IP1:8001 -> WD -> BI1
    IP2:8002 -> WD -> BI2
    In this case, you can keep the flexibility of using several backend systems with different names/IPs/Ports and one Web Dispatcher.
    For refence, you can consult the following 2 documents:
    General Information about how to use Web Dispatcher:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/8105db90-0201-0010-cfbe-ae94d43e2e48
    How to implement Web Dispatcher as a single point of entrance
    p. 40-42: "

    (Unfortunatly, I'm right now not able to locate this document again in SDN, but it exists somewhere. Good luck!)

  • RV042 Load Balancing not working correctly?

    We have an RV042 on firmware version 1.3.13.02 and 2 ISPs:
    WAN1 = Telepacific T1
    1.5Mbps down and 1.5Mbps up
    WAN2 = AT&T U-Verse
    12Mbps down and 5Mbps up
    I have it set to Load Balance, Primary WAN = WAN2
    Network Service Detection enabled, only pinging the Remote Host of 4.2.2.2 and set to Generate Log
    Bandwidth is set to:
    WAN1 = 1000Kbps upstream & downstream
    WAN2 = 5040Kbps upstream & 12000Kbps downstream
    It seems to pick WAN1 a lot of the time.  Do I have something setup wrong?

    Ok, so what do you recommend? To setup binding for ports important to direct over say… WAN1 (my fast access) shall I also keep the bandwidth management set up as is, example:
    For me it’s confusing because this config appears to be clear to me that has to control traffic the way I want .
    Thanks for your response.

  • FingerPrint Sensor/Software not working right with Windows XP Pro SP3

    Hi All,
    I have a 3 month old Satellite Pro S300-S2504 (2.4 GHz CPU, 3 GB RAM, Bluetooth, firewire - was a custom build with most of the options I could get). The O/S installed was/is Vista Business. It came with a dowgrade XP Pro SP3 disc as well.
    I bought a second hard drive - swapped it with the original and installed Windows XP Pro on it - having grown tired of Vista. I don't intend to keep both O/S's - but I didn't want to mess with what I had until I got XP working - and that's the reason I got the second hard drive for XP. Anyway, XP Pro is installed and working except the fingerprint sensor. As soon as I booted for the first time - with nothing but the factory everything installed, it prompted me to register fingers for the sensor. I tried but I got a database not found error followed by a sensor not working error. I got the latest updates for the fingerprint sensor, removed what I had - rebooted and installed the newer program - I got the same error. I then uninstalled the program again, went through the registry and removed all entries whose key had TrueSuite in it, rebooted and installed the latest version again - rebooted - and got the same errors. Looking in Device Manager, the sensor is working fine but once I try to register a finger and it fails, I then look in Device Manager and the sensor has a yellow error indicator. I used System Restore to go back to the original configuration and then tried the Fingerprint drivers/patches for Vista and for Windows 7. All of them installed but I got the same database not found error followed by the fingerprint sensor not working error.
     I did end the program, then using Task Manager, I ran the Fingerprint utility as administrator - still got the same errors. I've completely reinstalled from the Windows XP restore CD four times trying to solve this and I can't get the fingerprint reader to register fingerprints - I always get that error.
    I have a lot of graphic editing (movies) software as well as file conversion programs and a very stable version of Roxio Easy Media Creator that all works fine in Windows XP - but it all has problems running in Vista and I'm tired of the bugs that Vista seems have - and I want to use Windows XP Pro. I will try any suggestions.  The fingerprint sensor and software works reliably in Vista. I even updated it and that went fine. I suspect there's a problem with the XP version of the software for my computer. I did notice that Toshiba doesn't sell the this model series with XP downgrade as an option anymore. I wonder if this is one of the reasons.
    Anyway - I would very much appreciate help with this. Any ideas at all are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Dennis

    Satellite Pro M10-S405
    ..a clean Win XP Pro install and it still doesnt work.There is a Win Xp key on the bottom of the laptop, but I cant seem to use it.
    The Product Key that comes with the computer is useless to activate a retail installation. You would need to purchase a new one or convice Microsoft that an old one is no longer in use.
    In the device manager it shows
    Ethernet Controller
    Multimedia Audio Controller
    Network Controller
    Unknown Device needing Drivers. I have searched and downloaded drivers and installed them but it still doest work.
    Get the drivers from here.
    Install the chipset utility first, followed by the display driver. Be sure to install the common modules prior to any Toshiba utilities, including power management.

  • VPN load balancing not working correctly

    I have two vpn3030s configured for load balancing. They appear to recognize one another as the correct vpn(priority 10) appears to be the master. The slave however keeps getting an error message i the log "LBSSF master peer[205.172.49.252] is not answering HELLO".
    He appears to timeout the master and switch himself to master where he immediately sees the master and goes back to slave. I am not sure the address above is correct for the error message, 205.172.49.252 is the virtual IP shared by both concentrators. I would expect to see hellos sent and received between the two physical interfaces. Any ideas? I am getting a buffer error on the master as well so all this may be memory related. Not sure at this point.
    Johnny

    it may be due to IP conflict.

  • Sticky load balancing not working  because of Address Translation

              This came up before - see below. I don't understand what the
              soltion is/was.
              WL Server puts it's ip address in the WebLogicSession cookie
              which is an internal address 192.168.201.41
              WL proxy knows WL Server only by an external address like 139.141.38.21. Since
              it does not know of any WLS with an IP
              address of 192.168.201.41, it round-robins the request instead
              of sending it to the primary WLS.

  • Session replication in oc4j load balancing not working ..

    Hi All,
    I have windows 2000 machine. I have installed 2 instances of oc4j running on ports 8888 and 8889. I started the loadbalancer.jar in the first instance, started the first oc4j instance and then started the second oc4j instance. I have a common application deployed on both instance1 and instance2 and that is nothing but out famous SessionServlet.
    If I access this servlet using http://localhost:80/app/servlet/SessionServlet then I am getting a count as 1 . My loadbalancer that is started from first oc4j instance(running on port 8888) is showing that the request is routed to the first instance. I stopped my first instance1 and then again from the same browser/session/client if I access the same servlet using http://localhost:80/app/servlet/SessionServlet then still I am seeing the count as 1 instead of 2 . At this point my loadbalancer is showing that the request is routed to the second oc4j instance(running on port 8889) since first instance is stopped. So why am I seeing the count as 1 instead as 2.
    Also,
    1. Is it enough that we start the loadbalancer.jar in the first oc4j instance. What about the loadbalancer.jar in the second oc4j instance ?
    2. We all know that Apache HTTP Server runs on port 80. But since I didnt[i]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

    thank you debu, I have one doubt . In the clustering/load-balancing documentation at metalink(doc id: 151717.1) it is said that in point 4b that we should add the tag <cluster-config /> to orion-web.xml file but this file will be created only after the web application is deployed and it is accessed atlest for one time. So is it that we should first deploy the web application and then access it for atlest one time then stop the server and add this tag .. or is there any other way workaround ?

  • Network Load Balancing not working with UDP traffic (Server 2012)

    Hi all,
    I manage an application that receives traffic from mobile devices on cellular networks. The traffic is UDP. I have set up two x Server 2012 VMs to form part of a NLB cluster. Each server has a second NIC dedicated to NLB. The traffic is simply NATed from
    our firewalls to the virtual IP. When looking at the traffic using a packet sniffer, I can see the traffic being routed correctly to the virtual IP, but the problem is that the return traffic is sent from the IP address on the actual NIC. My application does
    not like the fact that the return traffic is coming from a different source IP. Is there any way to force the return traffic to also come from the virtual IP address?
    Thanks!

    Hi
    NLB return traffic for UDP would come from the node IPs.
    You could use NAT on your firewalls so they come from the same public IP.
    Otherwise you'd be looking at something other than MS NLB.
    Cheers

  • Mighty Mouse does not work right with my macbook why?

    I have a macbook 2.2 ghz intel core 2 duo and i am running 1.5.8 When I connect my mighty mouse to my macbook it seems to work fine. But for some reason I can not use the right click and when I try to scroll up and down using my finger in the middle of the mouse it does nothing. But when I connect the mouse to my new Imac it works just fine. Why is this?

    Hey Matt,
    Have you run Software Update since you got the mouse? The system requirements state:
    System Requirements
    Mac computer with Bluetooth wireless technology
    Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0* or Mac OS X v10.6.1 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
    Existing keyboard and mouse for setup
    Two AA batteries (included)
    http://www.apple.com/magicmouse/
    You probably need the Wireless Mouse Software Update in order for the mouse to function properly.

  • Delta Loads are not working: 0FI_GL_10 With enhancement : HR Data in source

    Hello Friends. Thanks for your answer on theory which I know, Please help me with this situation. I read all the sdn response to my message and have below for your suggestion
    QUES1: Why the 0RECORDMODE is not coming in Standard DSO and hence it is not there in Transformation in between Infosource and DSO. What do I need to include 0RECORDMODE in standard DSO. What is the correct OSS to Implement on SP 10 to solve this.
    Ques2. As suggested by you If I run the Delta loads after waiting for 1 hour of Init load. say init load was done at 11 am . i will do the delta at 12:10 am to psa via Infopack and then wait for an hour to run the DTP from PSA to DSO. Delta Records come in but it also bring in the records in DSO that are not changed from about 7 hours in ECC. and make our total Balance incorrect.
    Ques3: We have this Cocatenation of Keys in DSO since we exceeded the total number of 13 key in DSO.
    Cocatenation#1 GL ACCT and CHRT OF ACCTS
    Cocatenation#1 SEGMENT AND CONT AREA
    Cocatenation#1 Version, Value Typem, Valuation view, Currency Type.
    <b>
    Since business want to include HR Data in Keys Like Employee Number, Emp Code, EMPSPIMCODE. Payroll ID and I can not remove these fields from Key in DSO as per the business.</b>
    Also the above fields GL ACCT , CHRT OF ACCTS, SEGMENT, CONT AREA
    exist in Data FIELDS OF DSO. so what are the steps to modify the design to fix this asap.
    Please email me at [email protected] if you have any docs to resolve the above
    Thanks
    Soniya
    null

    Did the full load bring all records from sourcesystem to PSA?
    Was this an issue with the first delta you have tested ?
    Concatentaion of multiple keys into one should not be an issue here as that must have been happening in DSO and delta brings incorrect records to PSA itself.
    Are you validating delta records against FAGLFLEXT inputing the timestamp value  or RSA3 ..how ?
    <b>Check if this note helps</b>
    Note 1002272 - NewGL-DataSource 0FI_GL_10, 3FI_GL_*: Missing record.
    Is delta bringing incorrect records to PSA or DTP brings incorrect records to DSO from PSA ?
    May be you should revisit the logic behind for the enhancement of 0FI_GL_10.
    I am facing a similar issue as well but here delta doesnot even bring a single record ( ODS has 20 keys )...will update if resolves and you do the same.

  • SmartView 11.1.1.3.01 does not work right with Windows 7 64 bit

    We have a user running Windows 7 64 bit and Smartview 11.1.1.3.01 that is having a host of issues
    1. After initial install SV works as expected
    2. If He either shuts his computer down or closes excel and reopens smartview he is not able to save data, nor when doing adhoc query analysis is he able to manually enter dimensions into the cells and click refresh. For example, He will open the connection and ad-hoc query analysis. Drag over the year dimension, enter FY12 in the cell, click refresh and FY12 disappears, he can manually choose it out of the tree and it will stay.
    All Windows XP users do not experience this issue
    any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanx
    mike

    Which version of MS Office are they using?
    Did you confirm the plugin was installed using the run as administrator windows command - as there have been issues when not using this caused problems too.
    Can you try using the later version plugin: 11.1.1.3.500. Be careful though that you don't hit the following:
    Issue: After upgrading from Smart View v11.1.1.3 to Smart View v11.1.1.3.500, the connection screen box is blank in Excel 2007 on Windows 64-bit systems.
    Cause: The registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hyperion Solutions\HyperionSmartView was not updated during the upgrade and contained incorrect information.
    Solution
    In the registry editor, delete the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hyperion Solutions\HyperionSmartView and run the Smart View v11.1.1.3.500 install.
    Note: By deleting this key, you will lose stored information for: Connections, Login, Options, Preferences. These will need to be recreated.

  • IDVD not working right with Snow Leopard...a possible fix

    I was having the following issue with iDVD and my new fresh install on a new hard drive of snow leopard 10.6.4:
    iDVD would open to the screen where you chose what you want to do
    I would click create a new project and get to name it
    Nothing would happen but I knew the program was still running. I could see it in the activity monitor
    I would go to quit iDVD and it would ask me to save changes and the beach ball would start spinning and I would have to force quit from the dock
    Then I found this post after looking litterally all day for a fix....these instructions worked for me and my iDVD is now working normally...
    (1) Go this folder:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/GraphicsAppSupport.framework/Versions/A/Framew orks/
    (2) There should be 3 aliases there:
    ImageIO.framework
    ImageKit.framework
    QuartzComposer.framework
    (3) In my case, the QuartzComposer.framework was actually a folder. I removed this and created a new alias to
    /System/Library/Frameworks/Quartz.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/QuartzComposer .framework
    After making the new alias, iDVD now works just fine. Not sure why this frameworks folder had become damaged like this. I am hoping that there are no negative effects on any of my other applications, but I've kept a backup of the original folder just in case.
    I moed the quartzcomposer folder to 2 levels back and made an alias and put it in the A/frameworks folder and viola...iDVD worked for me! I am a happy mac user now

    Thanks, had exactly the same problem.
    Switched to administrator
    $ su adminusername
    Navigated to the folder
    $ cd /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/GraphicsAppSupport.framework/Versions/A/Frame works
    Listed the contents of the folder
    $ ls -le@
    Renamed the folder QuartzComposer.framework
    $ sudo mv QuartzComposer.framework/ QuartzComposer.framework.old/
    Replaced with a symbolic link to the correct framework
    $ sudo ln -s /System/Library/Frameworks/Quartz.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/QuartzCompose r.framework /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/GraphicsAppSupport.framework/Versions/A/Frame works
    iDVD works!!!

  • Windows Network Load Balancing not working

    OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
    Tested in our environment both are able to talk to each other. One will be converged as DEFAULT and another will be just converged.
    When deployed at Customer site, Server1 is converged as Default as seen in Server1.
    Server 2 is converged as Default as seen in Server 2.
    Server1 and 2 are in the same subnet and have no firewalls in between. (They seem unable to detect each other)
    NLB Configurations is using multicast.
    Would like to know how to resolve this issue.

    Hi,
    First, please try to ping each other with FQDN on the servers.
    Also, please make sure that the servers are connected to a layer2 switch or hub.
    To verify if this issue is caused by the misconfigure of the network device, pleae try to connect these servers to a hub for the test.
    Besides, is there any warning or error related to this issue in the event viewer of these servers?
    Here is a troubshooting guide for NLB, it may be helpful,

  • Dell printer not working right with 10.6.4 update

    I updated to 10.6.4 yesterday and now my dell 5130cdn isnt working properly. most of the time i get a network host is busy and then it eventually prints 5-10 minutes later . Ive deleted the printer and reinstalled the mac os driver dell. no change.
    Do i just have to wait for Dell to update their driver ( if ever) or is there any suggested fixes?
    Thanks

    Am experiencing this same problem. Got a new Dell 5130 cdn Color Laser printer. Hooked it up to the network, my wife can print to it fine from her PC, my kids (running OS X) have no problem, but when I try to use it (running Leopard - 10.6.4) I get the "Network host 'DELL9CDE5B.local.' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds" and it keeps extending.
    It does eventually print, after a few minutes. Takes about 3 or 4 minutes per page to print. Tried Print Therapy, no help.
    Called Dell, they said they don't offer support for OS X system. Huh? I said I would return the printer, all $1,400, they then "escalated" things and said they would have someone call me w/in 24 to 48 hours.
    Very frustrating that it appears Dell doesn't have drivers that work with 10.6.4.
