Load Balancing help needed...

I've been asked to research/implement load balancing on our Java only NW2004s EP (Unix) installation.
I've read the help files here, but not sure I understand what I'm supposed to do, if anything at this point.

Right now we have only one system, so from what I can tell, implementing the SAP Web Dispatcher for load balancing isn't an option.
I see there is also load balancing from the Java dispatcher. This I think is our only option at this point until we move to a production scenario with some other systems clustered.
Nonetheless, I don't really see any implementation details on configuring the java dispatcher. Which gives me the impression that it's job is automatic.
Could someone point me in the right direction so that we might might get some kind of load balancing implemented, or atleast get us moving in the right direction?

CSM Load Balancer Help

Hey,
Just a quick question....
Does anyone know a) if it's possible and b) how to have two servers off the CSM but instead of load-balancing between them make them a failover pair i.e. if server A goes down server B will take over - done using the same VIP?? It's needed because the application on the servers can't do load-balancing yet but can work in a failover way.
I'm reading the book trying to work it out but if someone has done this before that would be great!

I'm using CSM 4.6(6) and have given what you suggested a go but have run into problems.
When I disconnect the primary server I see that go out of service but that also knocks out the VIP and it never fails over to the second server. Am I missing something? I've attached the relevant parts of the config and would be greatful for any advice.

I also had a go at creating that variable but it wouldn't let me...just said variable not configurable - but I'll play with that and see if I can work it out...I'm not so bothered as long as the backup part works.

CSS Load Balance Help

Hi there,
I need a help, and I have this following situation:
*My Service is web and its listen TCP ports - 443 Https and 80 http
*The port 443 is only used to login and after its login all web requisitions are by port 80 www
*We have 02 services running and we want a VIP in order to serve the 02 ports mentioned.
*The access persistency must occurs in the CSS. A same client requisition on port 80 or 443 must redirect the user to the same server already answered the login requisition in the https login
Is tehre any configuration possible to do in order to accomplish that?
Any help is welcome.

Linksys RV042 Dual Wan with Load Balancing Help?

I'm a newbie to routers. I have purchased a Linksys RV042 hoping I could connect my two modem and provide internet to my collegues in the camp. My internet connection is running under EAP-TLS using a Motorola modem from Go Telecom here in Saudi Arabia. Need help to configure the router to accept the two modem.

Can't even load software help needed!

Just got a 5G 30Gb video iPod - only problem is that I can't even get the software to load onto my laptop - it appears to load, but when I look for it, it simply doesnt exist.
Anyone any ideas please?

Interesting - I search for "ITunes" & find loads of files in C\Windows\Downloaded files...
These appear to be setup files - when I click on ITunessetup.exe, I enter the same setup process as from the CD - with the same result - at the end of the setup process the process just seems to stop (nothing on the screen, no new files added anywhere...).
One file entitled ITunes.exe seems to load just iTunes (not Quicktime), but when I try to activate ITunes, I get a message "associated files missing" - or something similar.
nother file Quicktime.exe tries to load Quicktime thru' a wizard - this seems to work until at the last moment there is a message "the wizard was interupted"
I have tried all the above with antivirus both on & disabled.
This is the 1st time I've had anything from Apple - is it normal to have problems which am beginning to suspect are due to non-compatibility with windows - I am on the point of returning the iPod.

IPTABLES POSTROUTING Load balancing help

Hi there,
I have an interface with 5 IP addresses assigned to it (as virtual adapters) let's call them x1,x2,x3,x4 and x5.
Currently I have SNAT POSTROUTING forwarding rules from local source range to specific public ip address. Below is an example for the current rule
-A POSTROUTING -s 10.8.0.0/24 -j SNAT --to-source x1.x1.x1.x1
What I would like to achieve is that new established local connections will be postrouted and assigned to one of the IPs above (x1/x2/x3/x4/x5) randomly / round robin. I tired to look for a solution online but I didn't find any information for how to do so. I almost sure its feasible.

COPA Profit is more than FI balance - Help needed

Hi,
I am doing reconciliation for FI-COPA. COPA profit is 34499.04 more than FI profit. I have executed Assessment cycle also. After that i am getting this difference. Sales revenue is matching with FI-COPA each other.
How can i find out the problem for this differance? Kindly provide me some inputs to over come this issue..

Hi,
when reconciling Fi with CO check the following things:
- Which FI accounts do not have a corresponding cost element? (e.g. cost of goods sold). Can you find the equivalent amount of cost in COPA? For example, if you get COGS to COPA from billing documents and the month of the billing document is not equal to the month of the movement of goods sold from stock costs are shown in a different month in COPA than in FI.
- Are you using any COPA conditions (KE41 etc.) that are posted to COPA without a corresponding FI document?
- As all FI postings with a cost element go to CO, in these cases you have to check if all the internal orders and cost centers have a balance of zero after settlement (= end up in COPA). Use standard reports to check this.
- There could be a problem with the +/- signs in COPA. Depending on your customizing, costs from SD documents can have a negative sign in the COPA value field, while costs that are directly posted from FI have a positive sign. You have to keep that in mind when making the assignments to COPA value fields and when defining your reports in KE30.

11i load balancing web nodes without use of Hardware http load balancer

I am looking at note 217368.1 (Advanced Configurations and Topologies for Enterprise Deployments of E-Business Suite 11i) and some other notes on load balancing but some aspects are not clear.
Aim is to implement load balancing traffic to web nodes without using Hardware ( BigIP, cisco etc) for HTTP layer load balancing.
Which is more preferable between dns or Apache Jserv load balancer ?
Need details like failover capabilities, death detection of node, functionality testing and ways to monitor Apache Jserv load balancer.
Any help in this regard is welcome .

Oracle recommends using loadbalancing hardware rather than using DNS. If you want the features you mention above, you will need a hardware loadbalancer.

KB2830477 breaks RDS load balancer connections

All clients worked fine prior to KB2830477. Once that patch is installed the clients are unable to connect to our load balancer from outside our office; such as from home or on the road.
Removal of that patch allows them to connect once again.
The events on the RDS load balancer show clients connecting properly. The balancer sends the redirection info back to the client.
The events on the RDS server where the client was redirected show nothing.
It's as if the latest RDC patch breaks the ability for redirection. Or, perhaps, there's a special setting on our load balancer that needs to be updated due to this new patch?
... any helpful tips?

Load balancing and HA for office web apps server Lync 2013

I have 12000 users, 3 FE servers in a pool, 2 edge server in a pool, HA required, IM/presence, A/V, WEb conferencing required. plan to have 2 office web apps server a farm with HA, below are my queries
1. which type of load balancing i need....DNS or HLB for office web app servers? if its HLB then is it mandatory?
2. i have already 2 HLB for FE pool .. one for externa url , one for internal URL...can i use the same HLB for office web app servers ?
3. one more question regarding EDGE pool load balancing, can i use the same HLB in EDge pool also that i am using for FE pool?

WebApps runs on https and you cannot load balance http traffic using DNS load balancing. you need to have a HLB.

you can use the same HLB for that

for that one, you probably need a separate HLB.

Network Load Balancing for AFP Sharing

Dear all,
Anyone can kindly teach me how can I configure network load balancing with 2 xserve?
Currently I success to bond 6 ethernet port with a virtual IP in a single machine and I have a link aggregation setup in my switch. It works fine.
How to configure 2 xserve with 6 ethernet port per each to have a single virtual IP?
my switch do not support link aggregation with a virtual IP to do the load balancing so I just can consider to do it in software level.
Anyone know whether OS Leopard/Snow Leopard can do it? Or any suggestion for 3rd party software can perform this?

It sounds like you need a load balancer. There's nothing built-in to Mac OS X Server that's going to support one virtual IP address shared across multiple physical servers.
Your problem, though, is likely to be one of throughput - I don't know any cheap load balancers that will sustain that kind of throughput, so you may be looking at some serious $$$$s.
There are some software-based load balancers that might be able to handle the load balancing side of things but many of them are designed around HTTP so might not work so well for other protocols.
In addition, the software load balancer is going to suffer the same bottleneck as your AFP server, but doubly so - two servers with 6 x 1gbps links each you have a theoretical limit of 12gbps.
To run that through a load balancer, the load balancer will need double that - 12gbps for the client-side, plus 12gbps for the server side. In reality you're probably looking at needing 10gbps interfaces and switches if you're really pulling that much bandwidth.

Network Load Balancing setup giving RPC errors

I am attempting to set up Windows NLB on a pair of 2012 R2 Web servers, and cannot get it to work.Environment: Two non-domain IIS web servers with 2 NICs each, one NIC for management and on NIC for NLB. Not assigning dedicated IP to NLB NIC, only Cluster IP. Will manage through other NIC, which will not be part of NLB. All servers below can Ping each other fine. They can RPCPing each other fine. They are all on the same IP Subnet. All servers can RDP to each other fine.

Problem in using OracleAS Web Cache as Load Balancer

I have two machines:
aimssrv.world.com and aimsrep.world.com.
Both of above machines are running Redhat Linux AS 4.
On both machines, I have installed Oracle Forms and Reports 10g Services. I have deployed my application on both machines.
I am able to access my application at aimssrv.world.com by doing:
http://aimssrv.world.com:7778/forms/frmservlet?config=aims
and I am also able to access my application at aimsrep.world.com by doing:
http://aimsrep.world.com:7778/forms/frmservlet?config=aims
I have implemented OracleAS Web Cache at machine aimssrv.world.com, and have enabled the Load Balancing.
In Origin Servers, its showing me two servers:

In Site Definition, I have following information:

i hv recently configured webcache load-balancing for my 2 mid-tiers.I did not upgrade pre-requisite webcache upgrade patch 4569559 to my 10g rel 2 10.1.2.0.2 OAS and it still worked a bit but I do have some doubts why oracle recommends installing this patch before configuring webcache load-balancing.Have u?
btw u need to collapse all the features of webcache of caching to turn on http load-balancing.U need to add a parameter to internal.xml (LOADBALANCE ON="YES") and register origin servers of both servers with each other and map ur sites so that origin servers of both servers will cater sites of server1 and server2 at the same time.
what worked for me is i registered origin server of server1 at server2 and origin server of server2 at server1 and mapped site of server1 (http://server1:port/forms/frmservlet?config=something) to work with origin server of server2 as well at site-to-server page so that origin servers of both servers will load-balance my server1 site and vice-versa.
But still its not seamless.The initial site request was still being routed to the server which is DOWN first and not seamlessly routed to other server which is UP.Maybe webcache upgrade patch would hv done this seamlessly????

-db node (shared node) on one server.

Hi, i recommend to you to read the notes 306653.1 and 217368.1. In the last note you have to make a compound of the following points
Option 2.2. HTTP Layer Hardware Load Balancing
Option 2.3. Apache JServ Layer Load Balancing
Option 2.4. Forms Server / Metrics Layer Load Balancing
Option 2.5. Concurrent Layer Load Balancing
Finally what you have to do is has a load balancer of hardware or software (oracle webcache), and on handle an only one url for the final users, the work to distribute the requests towards your web/forms servers is the load balancer.
If one server was managing to fall down then the load balancer will working only with the alive servers. In sumary you apply a mix of the four options in the note 217368.1.
