Load csv data error:

Load csv data error: ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into
LONG column
I am trying to upload a data file (from MS Access) and get the above error message. There is a comment field that is type memo in Access. I have tried using VARCHAR2(4000) and CLOB as the data types but still get the same error. I searched the forum for a workaround or fix but can't seem to find any. Does anybody know of a working solution.
Thanks,

I am trying to load the data through APEX 2.2 for an application that I am building. Using the Excel function for length (on that column), the maximum number of characters comes up 3548. I also tried the clean function but still get the same error when trying to upload the data.

  • Unable to load CSV data using APEX Data Load using Firefox/Safari on a MAC

    I have APEX installed on a Windows XP machine connected to an 11g database on the same Windows XP machine.
    While on the windows XP, using IE 7, I am able to successfully load a CSV spreadsheet of data using the APEX Data Load utility.
    However, if I switch to my MacBook Pro running OS X leopard, then login into same APEX machine using Firefox 2 or 3 or Safari 3, then try to upload CSV data, it fails on the "Table Properties" step when it asks you for the name of the new table and then asks you to set table properties, the table properties just never appear (they do appear in IE 7 on Windows XP) and if you try to hit the NEXT button, you get error message: "1 error has occurred. At least one column must be specified to include in new table." and of course, you can't specify the any of the columns because there is nothing under SET TABLE PROPERTIES in the interface.
    I also tried to load data with Firefox 2, Firefox 3 (beta), and Safari 3.1, but get same failed result on all three. If I return to the Windows XP machine and use IE 7.0, Data Load works just fine. I work in an ALL MAC environment, it was difficult to get a windows machine into my workplace, and all my end users will be using MACs. There is no current version of IE for the MAC, so I have to use Firefox or Safari.
    Is there some option in Firefox or Safari that I can turn on so this Data Load feature will work on the MAC?
    Thanks for your help. Any assistance appreciated.
    Tony

    I managed to get this to work by saving the CSV file as Windows CSV (not DOS CSV), which allowed the CSV data to be read by Oracle running on Windows XP. I think the problem had to do with different character sets being used for CSV on MAC versus CSV on Windows. Maybe if I had created my windows XP Oracle database with Unicode as the default character set, I never would have experienced this problem.

  • SQL Loader - CSV Data file with carraige returns and line fields

    Hi,
    I have a CSV data file with occasional carraige returns and line feeds in between, which throws my SQL loader script off. Sql loader, takes the characters following the carraige return as a new record and gives me error. Is there a way I could handle carraige returns and linefeeds in SQL Loader.
    Please help. Thank you for your time.
    This is my Sql Loader script.
    load data
    infile 'D:\Documents and Settings\user1\My Documents\infile.csv' "str '\r\n'"
    append
    into table MYSCHEMA.TABLE1
    fields terminated by ','
    OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    trailing nullcols
    ( NAME CHAR(4000),
    field2 FILLER,
    field3 FILLER,
    TEST DEPT CHAR(4000)
    )

    You can "regexp_replace" the columns for special characters

  • Load Rule Data Error

    Loading a flat file into a cube I created. The error I am getting says "Invalid blank character in name." and in the messages window it says "Failed : 1030010 Invalid blank character in name." Checked the knowledge base with no success, has anybody encountered this error before? The file I am loading is a CSV file, but I have created different flat files with the same data in different file formats with the same result.

    Make sure that the full path of the data file does not have any spaces in it...folder name or file name
    For instance, if you are trying to load your data file from a folder labeled "Data Files", it won't load since there is a space in the folder name. The same goes for your data file name, try using _ instead of spaces... "Data_Files"
    Good Luck

  • LOAD CSV DATA TO NEW TABLE

    I've got a basic csv file- 12 columns, 247 rows that I've been trying to import or paste into a new table and with each try, not all records get uploaded into the new table. Using the "Load Data" tool, I've tried Load Text Data, Load Spreadsheet Data, both by importing .csv file and copying/pasting. I've put the records in order of the table's PK ID, I've added dummy entries to any fields that are null (i.e. I added the word 'None' to fields that were empty). But nothing is working. I get about half of the existing records.
    Why????

    You're probably right on with that one. I've got a 'Comment' field (VARCHAR(4000)) and a 'link' field that holds the link to doc files that I use in an interactive report VARCHAR(255). If this is my problem, how do I incorporate this data? My user needs to enter comments (indeed maybe not 4000 char - but I need to keep that as large as possible) and the link to the file itself is essential. Basically it's a simple interactive report where all of our active documents are listed and the user needs to find, then open the document on our server.

  • How to see inserted rows using load csv data

    Hey all...
    I am using apex 3.1 and I want to know how can I see non failed rows when I insert data from an CSV file.
    the failed rows that I can see are the the ones that shows in the next case: Uploading data that already exists and having a primary key violation. But what I really want to see is the description of the rows that had been succesfully loaded, not just a number of succesfully loaded rows.
    Thanks in advance.
    Luis.

    Try some thing like this
    select  Field, Filed2, ORA_ROWSCN, SCN_TO_TIMESTAMP(ORA_ROWSCN)  from Table Name
    You will get the recent  date of  insert/update of record

  • Load csv date problem

    I am using the Data Load option to load a csv file to an Oracle table.
    I am getting a ORA-01843 Invalid Month message.
    The field in the ORacle table is defined as a Timestamp.
    The date data in the csv file is 2006/06/24 13:23:12 format.
    What format do I put in the format box when doing the upload.
    Terry

    Probably you are right, it should work this way, but i tried several times to upload the data OP provided into the table with timestamp column - and gave up. I should admit - i'm not aware how months name are written neither i know the simply fact that hour can be between 1 and 12 .
    Obscure is - uploading into table with date column works perfectly ( simply changing format works either ) . I should probably enable tracing end try to investigate, what is here going on, but currently no time for these experiments...

  • Load raster data to georaster table error

    I use the follow script to load raster data, but get some error,:

    SELECT image INTO geor FROM city_images WHERE image_id = 1 FOR UPDATE;
    MDSYS.sdo_geor.importFrom(geor,NULL, 'IMG', 'file', 'D:\work\raster\image2\Extract_20.img');
    UPDATE city_images SET image = geor WHERE image_id = 1;
    END;
    I use the system user, when I load data. It give me some error like this:ORA-13464: load GeoRaster data error: - Unable to render RenderedOp for this operation. ORA-06512: 在 "MDSYS.MD", line 1723 ORA-06512: 在 "MDSYS.MDERR", line 17 ORA-06512: 在 "MDSYS.SDO_GEOR", line 5006 ORA-06512: 在 line 5

    Extract_20.img file has an extension IMG and thus must be in the ERDAS Imagine file format. The GeoRaster loader doesn't support this format and that's why you saw the error mesg. To load img files, you have to use third-party ETL tool for GeoRaster, or otherwise follow the instructions in section 3.3.1 in the georaster 11g developer's guide.
    with your scripts, a few recommendations:
    1. add "primary key" to you image_id definition (... image_id number PRIMARY KEY ...) when you define city_images table.
    you have two identical INSERT stmts, which should have led to a different error mesg because you have a select stmt before the loading stmt.
    2. when you create the tablespace for RDTs or add datafile to a tablespace, use "autoextend", for example,
    create tablespace tbs_gr1 datafile 't_gr1_1.f'
    size 300M reuse autoextend on next 20M;
    3. always create user(s) for all such databases, instead of using SYSTEM user.

    But i've checked the file and the escape sign, data seperator in it also. Everything is fine.  The same file we are able to load successfully in quality system.
    How to solve this error??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi BI consultant:
       Could you please provide more details?
    For example:
    1.Is your P application server a UNIX flavor? (Solaris, AIX, UX, Linux)
       If yes..
             2. Are you able to see the contents of the file correctly with a "cat" or "vi" command? (at operating system level).
                   If no...
                         3. Did you upload the csv flat file to the server via FTP?
                                If yes...
                                     4. Did you use the "binary" or the "ascii" parameter on the FTP command used to upload the file?
    Probably you need to upload the CSV file again to your application server and make sure you can se the file contents ("cat" or "vi" command) before trying to execute the InfoPackage.

    Also, this is first time, I saw this kind of error message.
    Appreciate any help or any suggestions to find a resolution. Thanks,

    Hii Priya,
    The reasons may be the file is open, the format/flatfile structure is not correct, the mapping/transfer structure may not be correct, presence of invalid characters/data inconsistency in the file, etc.
    Check if the flatfile in .CSV format.
    You have to save it in .CSV format for the flatfile loading to work.
    Also check the connection issues between source system and BW or sometimes may be due to inactive update rules.
    Refer
    error 1
    Find out the actual reason and let us know.
    Hope this helps.

    Raghu.

  • Error while loading the data from excel to database.

    Hi,
    I am using PL/SQL developer to load the data from excel to database. I will set the data source in the control panel and will proceed through ODBC importer in pl/sql developer to import the data.
    What exactly the error is when i click the filename to view the result preview it shows an error as:
    The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less data.
    Kindly help with solution.
    Thanks/Regards
    Sakthivarman J.

    Hello;
    That error message comes from Microsoft, so something in you Excel sheet is the cause.
    Its a pain but I would check properties of each column in case Excel decided to add something, a comma for example.
    Do you have a column over 255 characters? Look there first. If any length is greater than 255 it will crash and burn.
    Or convert it to a CSV and create an external table.
    Best Regards
    mseberg
    Might also throw an 3163 as an error where you cannot see it.
