Loaded movie communicating back to the loader

Hi,
We have got a swf which loads another swf. everything works
fine, we can change things in the loaded movie through the loader.
But now we need the buttons in the loaded movie calling a method or
trigging an event in the loader. We have been doing that by using
LocalConnection, but now we need another approach.
How to do that?

you are right, we have been using LocalConnection because we
had two separeted SWF.
But now we have got another project where we will have one
SWF loaded into it by loadMovie();
As we are new to Flash and ActionScript, what we really would
like to know is how could we call a method in a movie clip located
in the loader SWF, say mc_loader. We have created a new class
(extended from MovieClip) and inserted a new method on it called
dispatch(pValue:String).
then, from the loaded SWF we have tried, as you said,
_level0.mc_loader.dispatch("Test");
and also:
_level0.dispatch("Test"), but the method/function is not
being called.

Is there a way to move mp3s back from the iPod?

I can transfer to my ipod fine, however I had removed a good deal of my music from my PC hard drive as I had it on my ipod. Is there an easy way to move select music back from my ipod to my PC hard drive?

I made a noob mistake and created at topic for something there was already a topic for. However I wanted to clarify what I am trying to do. I realize that my ipod is mapped to a drive with windows, however the ipod changes the names and seemingly randomly places the songs within its directory structure. jrod53, that is strange. Displays will always appear under the Hardware tier of the System Preferences. I've never seen it disappear, so I'm a little surprised. Do you have two monitors attached to your computer? It may be the Mac thinks there's two displays and it is send the window for iMovie out to secondary display which you don't have access to. Also is there one side of your display where the mouse will disappear off the edge of the screen, go into a black hole?

The best option is to restore your iTunes folder and files from your time machine back up.

Can't find the * symbol to open bookmarks. I want to move it back to the toolbar.

In the prior version of FireFox, there was a handy * symbol on the left side of the toolbar area. I used this often to move from one part of my viewing to another.
I understand that, if I could see the symbol in the menu, I could move it up to the toolbar area. But I just can't find it.

This button should still be at the right of the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar as two button next to each other, one being the star to bookmark a page and next to it the button that open the Bookmarks Menu drop-down list.

Perhaps you inadvertently hid it. Try iTunes preferences > General > Show Movies.

Best way for a Student going on a Trip to Spain who has verizon to have communication back to the USA

So I have a young Student that next summer will be taking a school trip to Spain.
Starting to thinking ahead on keeping communications with them.
Right now I have a Friends and Family with my phone Unlimited Data.
Their Phone is Basic with no Data. I have no reason to change to the new plan. I will not pay more for less.
I am trying to figure out the best thing to do for them.
Whether rent a phone for overseas.
for the 2 weeks they are there change them over to one of my Spare Androids with GSM and and put a smartphone Data plan on that number for a month then change them back after they come home.
I am looking to see the pros and cons of doing this and weigh my costs.
If I give them an international capable smartphone for the month what would overseas charges be for Data and Voice? Can you get an international package for the time they are over there or would it be a "roaming" pay as you go type deal with expensive charges for roaming international?
Or second is do I just let them use public wifi on a smartphone that is international capable with them knowing that they are to use Data and voice only in an emergency? or just leave them with their Ipad and wifi?

It's great to look ahead to the possibilities, Shutech. I love to be prepared! You actually have a fantastic idea to change their line to a global capable phone for the time they're in Spain. You don't need to change the plan for any other lines on the account and can simply add a smartphone with global voice and data capabilities for the few weeks it'll be used in Spain, then reactivate the basic phone and plan when they've returned. Activating devices is easy at http://vz.to/186e0Pr.
Prices for voice and data service while traveling is always updated at www.vzw.com/global. If you chose to add a global capable smartphone, it will need a data plan active since it's a smartphone, but you can chose to have the user turn off mobile data and simply use WiFi to conserve global roaming costs. If you visit www.vzw.com/support and type the model phone along with the words "mobile data" you can find the easy steps how to do this. This would leave the phone's ability to send and receive calls and text messages.

Sounds that you have opened the Bookmarks sidebar (View > Sidebars; Ctrl+B) and not use the Bookmarks Menu button that opens a drop-down list.
You can find a toolbar button in the toolbar palette that shows as a star with a drop marker when placed on a toolbar that opens the bookmarks in a drop-down list.<br />
The other toolbar button with a star opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.

Note that you need to hide the Menu Bar and possibly the Bookmarks Toolbar to make this button stay on another toolbar after you close the Customize window.

Convert a movie clip back to the main timeline? Help!

I hope you guys can help me with this because this is a work project. Here's the situation:
The entire .fla animation consists of nothing but two really long movie clips. Which are placed on frames 1 and 2 of the main timeline. Now for reasons that are too deep for me to go into explaination about my boss is telling me that I have to have everything main timeline -no movie clips. I've tried copypasting all of the frames but they all paste wayyy to large on the main timeline and they wind up in different places on the stage.
How can I move all of the frames from my two movie clips onto the main timeline without everything breaking? Better yet - is there any way to just convert a movie clip into an .fla?

you're on the right track. note the x,y of your movieclip in frame 1. create a new layer and paste all the frame 1 movieclip's frames into that new layer. click the edit multiple frames icon below your timeline. select all the frames, click an on-stage object. in the properties panel, change the x,y of the all the selected objects to the previously noted values

How do I fix my gmail after installing mavericks - it won't allow me to move emails to folders it just moves them back to the inbox?

That is correct... I know the Admin password but the password for my keychain is not correct and I can't seem to remember what the last password would have been. Any ideas how to reset it? Maybe delete and recreate? I know I may lose some info. Thanks!
