Loading component problem
I have three or four components of a dial that connects to a
web service, retrieves some data, displays it and tweens a dial.
My tweening of the object doesn't seme to always work.
It loads each component, because I trace each event and
values, yet my tween doesn't happen on one of the components.
Could this be due to pulling too much data from a webservice
at a time? Should I set an initial interval to call each component?
If I wanted to do this on load, what would be recommended?

All Flex generated swf have two frames. When you load them in
Flash, make sure you reach frame 2.

This should be a simple problem. I want to use the flash
loader component to load pictures. I drag the loader onto the
stage. Type the pic name in the parameters and save them in the
same folder but nothing comes up? I'm using flash 8. Do I have

1. is the Loader control set to AutoLoad = true?
2. are you sure the instance name of your Loader is

White box under Loader Component
I am using the Loader Component to load my images as they are
viewed in my file.
Most of my images are ok, but some have a white box
underneath of them.
I'll have an image that is like 300 pixels wide and 100 tall,
but it looks like a 100 wide by 200 tall white box is behind the
image. It does this with random images using the Loader COmponent.
any ideas what is up or how to fix it?weird solution. i copied all of my keyframes into a new
document and when testing the movie the box problem does not
appear.

I noticed that when using the Loader component in Flash 8 -
the following issue:
I have a thumbnail gallery that uses the Loader component to
view the large image.
when i view the site in fire fox it works perfectly (scaling
the content and centering it within the loader component shape)
but when i view it in IE - no scaling or centering occurs!!??
any idea why this is happening and how i can rectify
it?Hey why don't you try adjusting the permissions and hot
linking protection on your servers control panel? This might be the

Hey guys...
I'm back. I am still working on this site, and have worked
through numerous challanges and gotten through, but I have now hit
a roadblock that I cant seem to conquer... Here is the
situation....I have a “main” file.... I am using the
technique of loading external swf’s into a loader component
on the main file. So each individual page is a different swf file.
I have the navigation set up in a seperate swf file as well, and
have the nav bar loading into another instance of the loader in the
“main” file. The navigation has its own action
scripting that animates it, and I have written action script so
that when you click the buttons (I have attached the code that I
wrote for the buttons), the other loader on the main page should
load the corresponding swf... (still with me?) well I preview the
“main” page and it runs great and the home.swf
automatically loads and the nav loads (and animates), but when you
click the buttons nothing happens... I hope someone can help me
through this problem.... Thanks so much in advance...........Doesnt anyone know how to help me with this issue?

Symptoms:
I've updated our application from Cocoon 1.7.4 to Cocoon2. After I
figured out what libraries I need on the Weblogic's classpath, I managed
to envoke the MyServlet (MyServlet extends CocoonServlet). The technique
I am using is the one I used with the Cocoon v1.7.4: extend Cocoon
servlet and wrap the HttpServletRequest in MyRequest to provide the XML
content. I changed the line <map:generators default="request"> in
sitemap.xmap to specify the location of the source. Configuration files
seem to be read correctly and the file
<myWebAppContext>/WEB-INF/_tmp_war/org/apache/cocoon/www/sitemap_xmap.java
is generated (but there is no class file generated)!
I looked at the cocoon.log file and looks like a class loader security
problem: the \WEB-INF\_tmp_war gets locked! Is there any workaround this
problem? Any help is much appreciated!

I'm not too sure I want to troubleshoot anymore when it comes
to the Loader component and IE7, but I wanted to check if anyone
has anything new on the matter. All searches concerning this issue
show unanswered posts, so I guess it's just another bug/conflict
that Adobe isn't concerned about or if the issue is just with IE7.
The main issue is when loading images into the loader component,
scaleContent set to default (true), autoLoad set to default (true),
when images are loaded, they are not always aligned properly in the
center. Plus, most of the time I see a flicker of the image
appearing either on the top left or bottom left of the loader
before the image appears as it should. I've even tried AS2 to
center the loader.content._x and loader.content._y on
listener.complete (see code), but randomly the loaded image's (0,0)
position seems to be in the center of the loader (I was going to
provide a screen shot of what I'm talking about, but I think the
explanation is clear). All the above works great on Firefox, Opera,
Safari, and even the crappy AOL browser, but not consistently on
IE7.
Is this a known issue or an unsolved bug?
Unless anyone has an answer to the above, I would like to
also ask around about purchasing loader components online. I've
seen several, but wanted some testimonials from people who have
used them.

using Firefox versus IE7, you will see what I mean.

As for the centering not working in IE7. The very first image
does not center properly in IE7, but after that everything works
identical to FF. I am unsure how to fix that issue. I have always
implemented a centering script myself to ensure that things get
centered properly, and have not yet had any problems with it. -
UI Loader Component causing delay in preloader
Hi All-
I would really appreciate if you could help me with this
issue.
I have a preloader in the first scene. In the next scene is
my main movie, in which I have a UI Loader Component. I've
unchecked "export in first frame" in the linkage options for the UI
loader, but "export for Action Script" is still checked.
The problem is, when I do a "simulate download" my preloader
will not show on screen until it's about 15% loaded already. I'm
assuming this is because the "export for Action Script" for the UI
loader is still on, but the loader obviously won't work without
that option checked...
Is there any way to fix this??
I'm still new to Flash so please bear with me...Thnx for the response Ned, I did do that. First inside of flash with control>test movie. The file worked so I brought onto the DW page and tested in Firefox. Didnt work.

Error in Add/Replace Bulk Load component - illegal character in XML
Has anyone ever seen the bulk load component complain about some illegal character in xml? I see this error and not sure what exactly the problem is:
ERROR [SocketReader] - Received error message from server: Character is not legal in XML 1.0
It's a very simple graph - reading data from clover data file and ingesting it straight into Endeca using the out of the box bulk load component.

Engage upgrade failed - could not load component library
Can anyone help with this......
I had Xcelsius 4.5 Pro and have bought the download to upgrade to Engage. I couldn't get it to install to begin with so I did the fix with Regedit and permissions. This allowed me to install the software but, on opening, I get the message "Could not load component library" I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the software - this didn't work. I also downloaded and installed Service Pack 1 to see if that would fix it, but I am still getting the same message. Grateful for any help with this problem please.

To further debug the issue, I'd suggest installing the debugger version of Flash Player. If there is a problem there, then this should expose it.

Multiple loader component instances
Hi everyone, I'm having some problems with the loader
component... I'm trying to create multiple loader instances
dynamically, but only the last instance is showing. I can't figure
out how to solve that... I've already tried to use
duplicateMovieClip, and it didin't work also.

PreLoader causing component problem
Hey all,
I have a created a site that has a scene preloader that
preloads my main.swf.
My main.swf then has a preloader for each external .swf file
loaded into it.
Everything seems to work it preloads my main.swf showing the
percent loaded.
Once it's loaded it appears and then loads an .swf file into
a loader component (this works)
Problem:
the buttons inside the external .swf (that is loaded into my
loader component) do not work. What could be wrong?
I'm thinking it's just a problem with the scope. Below is my
script I'm using.

Slow component problem (logon page, login - logout)
Hi All,
since some time i'm experiencing a "slow component" problem with EP.
As a sympthom portal is slow during first logon page and during login - logout.
Jarm trace report the situation below:

Wireless Media Server: "Failed To Load Component of Media Serve
When I try to install Wireless Software it always ends up in telling me "Failed to load component of Media Server" after I've restarted the system. Media Server is not running and no icon of Media Server is to be found in the system tray. ?
I am having the same problem. Did you ever get a solution?
I've tried:
uninstalling/reinstalling all the software
forcing exceptions in my firewall (Norton), showing they permit all traffic from the Media Server & Console
assigning a static IP address (my router shows the receiver as connected to the network)
But I still get the "Failed to load component of media server" message every time I log in to Windows or try to start the Media Server manually. When I try to do the receiver's Network Setup (either letting my router assign and address, or with assigning the static address), at first I get the flashing green lights, then just a solid red, with the message that my settings are incorrect. Are those two separate problems, or the same problem?
I am using a 2Wire HomePortal Gateway. The main computer I am attempting to set up through is connected by Ethernet to the gateway. I am using WEP 64-bit encryption with a single key. There are notes about "open" vs "Shared key" modes, but I don't know where to find that info in the HomePortal's settings. I have connected a laptop and a PDA wirelessly with no problems once the key is entered. I can see the receiver on the gateway's summary page of my home network.

I'm trying to load an external image (JPG) that is 5000 by
300 Pixels.
The Loader component seems to be cropping the image at about
3300 by 300.
Is this the max size?
If so is there a work around ?
Else then why will it crop at this size when it is not being
specified anywhere?

the max size is 2880, anything beyond that size will cause
problems.

Yes, cut content into smaller parts, load it and put it up
together into one.
