Loading txt into multiple TextArea's

I am trying to keep all text in one text file, but have three
TextArea boxes that are created with AS into which the external
text file loads the text. Can I set variables in the text file and
then pull them into the TextArea's instead of making separate text
files for each TA?
Any help would be much appreciated!

you can delineate distinct variables and values using the
ampersand sign in your text file.

  • Loading data into multiple tables - Bulk collect or regular Fetch

    I have a procedure to load data from one source table into eight different destination tables. The 8 tables have some of the columns of the source table with a common key.
    I have run into a couple of problems and have a few questions where I would like to seek advice:
    1.) Procedure with and without the BULK COLLECT clause took the same time for 100,000 records. I thought I would see improvement in performance when I include BULK COLLECT with LIMIT.
    2.) Updating the Load_Flag in source_table happens only for few records and not all. I had expected all records to be updated
    3.) Are there other suggestions to improve the performance? or could you provide links to other posts or articles on the web that will help me improve the code?
    Notes:
    1.) 8 Destination tables have at least 2 Million records each, have multiple indexes and are accessed by application in Production
    2.) There is an initial load of 1 Million rows with a subsequent daily load of 10,000 rows. Daily load will have updates for existing rows (not shown in code structure below)
    The structure of the procedure is as follows
    Declare
    dest_type is table of source_table%ROWTYPE;
    dest_tab dest_type ;
    iCount NUMBER;
    cursor source_cur is select * from source_table FOR UPDATE OF load_flag;
    BEGIN
    OPEN source_cur;
    LOOP
    FETCH source_cur -- BULK COLLECT
    INTO dest_tab -- LIMIT 1000
    EXIT WHEN source_cur%NOTFOUND;
    FOR i in dest_tab.FIRST .. dest_tab.LAST LOOP
    <Insert into app_tab1 values key, col12, col23, col34 ;>
    <Insert into app_tab2 values key, col15, col29, col31 ;>
    <Insert into app_tab3 values key, col52, col93, col56 ;>
    UPDATE source_table SET load_flag = 'Y' WHERE CURRENT OF source_cur ;
    iCount := iCount + 1 ;
    IF iCount = 1000 THEN
    COMMIT ;
    iCount := 0 ;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END LOOP ;
         COMMIT ;
    END ;

    Assuming you are on 10g or later, the PL/SQL compiler generates the bulk fetch for you automatically, so your code is the same as (untested):
    DECLARE
        iCount NUMBER;
        CURSOR source_cur is select * from source_table FOR UPDATE OF load_flag;
    BEGIN
        OPEN source_cur;
        FOR r IN source_cur
        LOOP
            <Insert into app_tab1 values key, col12, col23, col34 ;>
            <Insert into app_tab2 values key, col15, col29, col31 ;>
            <Insert into app_tab3 values key, col52, col93, col56 ;>
            UPDATE source_table SET load_flag = 'Y' WHERE CURRENT OF source_cur ;
            iCount := iCount + 1 ;
            IF iCount = 1000 THEN
                COMMIT ;
                iCount := 0 ;
            END IF;
            END LOOP;
        COMMIT ;
    END ;However most of the benefit of bulk fetching would come from using the array with a FORALL expression, which the PL/SQL compiler can't automate for you.
    If you are fetching 1000 rows at a time, purely from a code simplification point of view you could lose iCount and the IF...COMMIT...END IF and just commit each time after looping through the 1000-row array.
    However I'm not sure how committing every 1000 rows helps restartability, even if your real code has a WHERE clause in the cursor so that it only selects rows with load_flag = 'N' or whatever. If you are worried that it will roll back all your hard work on failure, why not just commit in your exception handler?

  • Loading data into multiple tables from an excel

    Can we load data in to multiple tables at a time from an excel through Utilities? If yes how? Please help me
    Regards,
    Pallavi

    I would imagine that the utilities allow you to insert data from a spreadsheet into 1 and only 1 table.
    You may have to write your own custom data upload using External Tables and a PL/SQL procedure to insert data from 1 spreadsheet into more than 1 table.
    If you need any guidance on doing this let me know and I will happily point you in the right direction.

    Pl post OS and database details
    You will need to split up the datafile in order to load into separate tables. The process is documented

  • Reading .txt files and put it into a TextArea

    Hi all,
    I got a problem! I have to make something like a messenger.
    I want to put the written text into a .txt file, after that I have to get the text out of the .txt file and put in into a TextArea.
    I would ike it to to that like this:
    ">User 1
    Hello!
    >User 2
    Hi!
    Now here are my questions:
    1: What is the moet easy way to do this ?
    2: How could i put Enters into a .txt file with Java ?
    3: How could i read all the text from the .txt file and put it into a TextArea WITH ENTERS ?
    Thanks for your help!
    Greetings, Jasper Kouwenberg

    use JTextArea.read(new FileReader(fileName)) for reading.
    and JTextArea.write(new FileWriter(fileName)) for writing.
    The enters should be ok if the user press enter and adds a new line ("\n") to the text area component.
    It will save the enter in the text file and load it correctly back to the text area.
    If you want to add enter programmatically just add "\n" string to the text area component.

    hi all...
    i am given a task to load data into an ods from 3 infosources ...
    can someone plz give me the flow .
    thank u in advance..

    Hi Hara Pradhan,
    You have to create 3 update rules by giving the 3 different infosources while creating each update rule. And u have to create the infopackages under each infosource. with this u can load the data to the same data target from multiple info sources.
    Hope it helps!

    Thanks in advnace.

    Hi,
    extract your xml and then you can use insert all clause.
    here's very small example on 10.2.0.1.0
    SQL> create table table1(id number,val varchar2(10));
    Table created.
    SQL> create table table2(id number,val varchar2(10));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert all
      2  into table1 values(id,val)
      3  into table2 values(id2,val2)
      4  select extractValue(x.col,'/a/id1') id
      5        ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/value') val
      6        ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/value2') val2
      7        ,extractValue(x.col,'/a/id2') id2
      8  from (select xmltype('<a><id1>1</id1><value>a</value><id2>2</id2><value2>b</value2></a>') col from dual) x;
    2 rows created.
    SQL> select * from table1;
            ID VAL

    A good Question, benefit  is lot, In simple  words  Load balance.. Performance  in Transfering the messages  will be quick, System resource  is maintained and you can assign particular adapters  for particular interfaces..alone... if you have Multiple App servers....

    This all works just fine, however, it's not quite what I need. For starters, the multiple tag data is concatenated and when I try to specifically query it out using a where clause I get ORA 22950. So, not sure how to deal with that.
    Is it possible to use sqlldr to get the 200MB XML file loaded into a table like that above?
    Now, given multiple "feature" and "category" data per "MainName", I need to use the SQL to dump the XML data into a set of tables built to model the structure of the XML...
    roughly..
    Main_Table (
    ID1 Varchar2(10)
    ID2 varchar2(10)
    ID3 varchar2(10)
    desc varchar2(100)
    Features_Table (
    ID1 varchar2(10)
    feature varchar2(100)
    Category_Table (
    ID1 varchar2(10)
    name varchar2(100)
    attribute varchar2(100)
    What are the groups recommendations here? Should I continue down this route or is there a better way?

    When I suggested the option to parse the XML in PL/SQL I was referring to pulling the data into PL/SQL and then performing all parsing activity against the PL/SQL copy and you don't need to make SQL calls.
    Here is a quick sample for parsing out all the Category/name elements from the XML once it is loaded into PL/SQL
    DECLARE
      l_index     PLS_INTEGER;
      l_category  XMLTYPE;
      l_db_row    XMLTYPE := XMLTYPE('<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <MainTitle Version="1.0" Date="2009-01-11">
       <MainName>
          <ID1>A</ID1>
          <ID2>ABC</ID2>
          <ID3>ABC123</ID3>
          <Desc>Some text</Desc>
          <feature>f1</feature>
          <feature>f2</feature>
          <Category>
             <name>n1</name>
             <attribute>more stuff</attribute>
          </Category>
          <Category>
             <name>n2</name>
             <attribute>even more stuff</attribute>
          </Category>
          <Category>
             <name>n3</name>
             <attribute>different stuff</attribute>
          </Category>
          <Category>
             <name>n4</name>
             <attribute>More of the same</attribute>
             <attribute>But different still</attribute>
                   <attribute>Even more different junk</attribute>
              </Category>
         </MainName>
    </MainTitle>');
    BEGIN
       l_index := 1;
       WHILE l_db_row.Existsnode('/MainTitle/MainName/Category[' ||
                                 To_Char(l_index) || ']') > 0
       LOOP
          l_category := l_db_row.Extract('/MainTitle/MainName/Category[' ||
                                           To_Char(l_index) || ']');
          dbms_output.put_line(l_category.extract('Category/name/text()').getStringVal());
          l_index := l_index + 1;
       END LOOP;
    END;You could repeat the WHILE loop to parse out the attribute column as well since it repeats. This is what Dave's post was showing and what I was referring to.
    Hint: If you are trying to use .extract to go after an optional node, you need to verify the node exists via existsNode first. If you don't you can get an "ORA-30625: method dispatch on NULL SELF argument is disallowed" error when trying to extract a non-existent node.

  • Data loads into multiple InfoObjects from 0EHS_PHRASE_TEXT DataSource.

    Dear Experts,
    I am working on SAP HCM-BW 7.0 Implementation and am trying to load data into 8 different InfoObjects (Texts) through 0EHS_PHRASE_TEXT (Phrases) extractor.
    There are many InfoPackages in place created during the previous project loading into different set of Standard BCT InfoObjects.
    After migrating the 0EHS_PHRASE_TEXT DataSource from 3.x to 7.0 version, I have created different InfoObjects with Transformations and DTPs upon business requirements to load them. The relevant data is available in 0EHS_PHRASE_TEXT when checked in Extractor Checker (RSA3). However, when I create InfoPackages to load these different InfoObjects, I don't see the Data Targets listed and it makes sense since the data is first loaded into PSA and then will be loaded into Data Targets (in this case InfoObjects with Text) using DTPs.
    My concern is... when I create a Process Chain to load Master Data into these Objects, the following action is happening:
    1. Load 10 Records into PSA and then into InfoObject A. All 10 Records are loaded into A.
    2. Load 5 Records into PSA and then into InfoObject B. Previous 10 + New 5 Records are loaded into B.
    3. and it continues... for 8 InfoObjects.
    My question is... is there are way that I can see the corresponding Data Target tab in InfoPackages so the Data is immediately picked from PSA of 0EHS_PHRASE_TEXT DataSource and then loaded into the corresponding InfoObjects.
    Or should I make use of Transfer Rules by Re-storing the 0EHS_PHRASE_TEXT DataSource from 7.0 to 3.x version...!!
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chandu

    Hi Andreas
    Thanks for replying and sorry for the confusion.
    The extractor is delivering 10 and then 5 because of different selection parameters in the InfoPackage "selecting" which InfoObject I wish to load the texts for.
    Your understanding of my requirements is correct.
    Could you please elaborate Option 1 bit more..!
    Regarding your Option 2, I don't want the DTPs to extract directly in full from the datasource because by doing so, all the data apart from the relevant data is also loaded into each and every InfoObject. And I don't want that to happen. I want to load only relevant data into respective InfoObjects from the PSA using DTPs.
    I have tried to setup filters in DTPs with different Selection Parameters and tried to load relevant InfoObjects. For example, I am trying to load ZEHS_SUBS InfoObject with EHS_INJ_SUB_SUBSTANCE as the Selection Parameter. There are 54 records in both Source System and PSA for this parameter.
    And the request is showing 54 in Transferred Records but only the very last 1 in Added Records. When I check in the Target (ZEHS_SUBS) InfoObject, it is showing only 1 Record. I have tried many combinations. They are:
    1. Loaded only EHS_INJ_SUB_SUBSTANCE data from Source System into PSA and then tried to execute the relevant DTP.
    2. Checked the 'Do Not Extract from PSA but Access Data Source (for Small Amounts of Data) and tried it.
    3. Tried with both Delta and Full Extraction Mode.
    4. Set Filter on Single Value as 'EHS_INJ_SUB_SUBSTANCE' to extract this data only.
    5. Set Filter Excluding all the other Single Values.
    6. Checked the 'Handle Duplicate Record Keys'.
    Still only the last 1 records out of 54 is showing up in the Target InfoObject.
    Please let me know if you have any idea as to why this is happening so.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Splitting comma seperated column data into multiple rows

    Hi Gurus,
    Please help me for solving below scenario. I have multiple value in single column with comma seperated values and my requirement is load that data into multiple rows.
    Below is the example:
    Source Data:
    Product         Size                                 Stock
    ABC              X,XL,XXL,M,L,S                 1,2,3,4,5,6
    Target Data:
    Product         Size                                 Stock
    ABC              X                                     1
    ABC              XL                                   2

    ABC              L                                      5
    ABC             S                                        6
    Which transformation we need to use for getting this output?
    Thanks in advance !

    Hello,
    Do you need to do this tranformation through OWB mapping only? And can you please tell what type of source you are using? Is it a flat file or a table?

  • Error while loading data into BW using Datastage tool

    We are extracting data from external source and loading it into SAP BW using Ascential DataStage. Sometimes the job starts on the DataStage side but doesn't really run. I get the following error msg on the BW side:
    S:RSVAR:051 Error opening InfoSource file: ZTESTODS_TRANSACTION.TXT
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    RR

    Hi,
    ZTESTODS_TRANSACTION.TXT and ZTESTODS_TRANSACTION.MET are two files in the dsbwconnections directory on the datastage server. The error occurs when a process has a lock on the file.
    If you use PUSH or PULL then you won't see the problem.
    Best regards
    Niels
