Local dconf database for machine-specific settings

I use gnome-session and gnome-settings-daemon (not sure what actaully sets the background) and I'd like to have a different background for different computers, but I don't (yet) know enough about dconf.
I added DCONF_PROFILE=~/.dconf-profile to my login profile. There, I set:
user-db:local
user-db:user
Should they be in the opposite order?
I created ~/.config/dconf/local.d and added a text file which sets org.gnome.desktop.backgrounds/picture-uri=file:///my/bg
I then ran dconf update.
This doesn't appear to have any effect. Some questions, goals:
1) I want "local" to only have my custom key for the background.
2) I want everything else (eg, changing gnome-system-settings) to continue to be saved in "user"
3) When I'm looking at the dconf-editor gui, is it populated by whats in my personal db or does it use the schemas in /usr/share?

env var USER_JPI_PROFILE might fix your problem

my idea is to have a daemon script for configuring my eth0 device with specific settings to connect to my xbox.
i"ve got no idea on how to wirite a daemon script, so i hope to get some help from the community
eth0 sould have:
192.168.1.33 as ip
255.255.255.0 as netmask
192.168.1.1.55 as gateway

You need to uncomment it once and set the correct values. That's it.

External or Internal IP for Database server machine?

We have a web server machine with firewall controlling our network security. This server gets some critical data from a database server machine located also in the same local network. Which IP is secure for database server, Internal or External IP ?

Internal IP
For security reasons, is better if you could use a DMZ, with the web server in the DMZ, and the database server in the internal network
Something like this:
Internet <-->external firewall <--> DMZ (web server, mail server, etc) <--> internal firewall <--> LAN (database, pcs, etc)
If you want more granularity, you could incluse put the internal servers in another DMZ

Transaction SE16: Field selection (User-Specific Settings) is NOT working for ALL tables

I have an issue in Transaction SE16, Field selection (User-Specific Settings) is NOT working in Tables (ALL tables).
Following is the screenshot attached for your kind reference,
That is in the initial screen of transaction SE16 if I choose Filed Name or Filed Label only the technical details (Field Names) are appearing and not the descriptions like Client, Purchasing Doc, and Company Code Doc. Category Document Type etc…
Right now I am using ECC6 and EHP7 SAP system.
Please help me to resolve this issue by implementing any OSS note or User Role creations or any technical changes required in system.
Hope the requirement is clear and in case need any clarification please revert back.
NOTE: Right now in Development System we don’t have any successful user to compare the settings.

How to use local database for Education Portal

Hi All,
We are implementing a Education Portal (learning Solution) and here are our requirements
1. Course details are stored in R/3 portal
2. When users login to the education portal, course catalog should be displayed with all the details and here the course catalog should not be displayed directly from R/3.
3. course catalog should be read from some local database or XML ( how to update the local database/ XML from R/3 data periodically)
4. Once when user sees the course details, if he wants to buy the course, he will register and do the payment.
5. User details should be stored in the local database and only if he do the payment and his registration details will be stored in the R/3.
Is any one have any idea how to go ahead with the above function and give some inputs.

Hi,
Basically, you would have to use plain JDBC / Open SQL or some persistence framework on top of it (e.g. JPA if you're on Java EE 5 / NW CE 7.1, or EJB CMP, JDO, Hibernate with previous NW releases) to store and load data in the local DB. For updating the backend ("R/3") you would use SAP JRA which is based on SAP JCo.
Search for these terms on help.sap.com and you will find plenty of information about it.

I want to set default printer settings to be used only for a specific type of application, certain documents. All other print jobs should use a different default setting for the printer.

I am printing a specific document from a web based application. This document need to be printed in landscape. So I would like to set the default settings for this specific printer to landscape. But for all other printers it should be portrait. But this does not seem to work. The browser picks the settings from the standard/default printer and uses this for all print jobs.

The error below makes absolutely no sense! I'm using Enterprise Core...yet I'm being told I can't use remote data sources:

According to your description, you are using Enterprise Core edition and you are prompted that you can’t use remote data sources.
In your scenario, we neither ignore your point nor be doubt with what you say. But actually we have met the case before that even though the SQL Server engine is Enterprise but the reporting services is still standard. So I would recommend you to find the
actual edition of reporting services you are using. You can find Reporting Services starting SKU in the Reporting Service logs ( default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\<instance name>\Reporting Services\LogFiles). For more information,

Good luck with that. I have never seen any "list of all countries" before like you are wanting. This will typically be part of your requirements gathering and blueprinting tasks.
Just one question....what is your "global template" for implementation and what is your scope for localization? That will dictate much of your work.

We want the message ME161 to be displayed as warning message to one user and the same message to be displayed as an erorr message to another user.

Messages are defined like this:
Version AG No. Text TYPE
Normally, in std case,
Version will be always 00 for system defined messages....
Now if you wanna make the the same message as authorised,
then copy this exsisting message....
While copying system will ask for version, here enter it it Z*
Now on the other hand make the other settings for user/user grp in SU01 and here set the user parameter as MSV(THIS IS MUST)....
and then try...

Language specific settings for ESS/MSS

Hello Experts,
I got a question on language specific settings on the portal:
1) Suppose i have configured my ESS/MSS BP and my settings are in English language. Now when i logged in to the portal and click, it is opened in English language only, but when i click on Leave Request page, this particular page is opened in some other language (i mean other than English), so what might be the problem and where are the settings needs to be done if i encounter these kind of errors.

There are so many things that could affect language here is the ones I am aware of
1) IE locale
2) JCO language setting
3) Forced Language in Iview itself
4) Missing translations in the translation cycle
5) Java Dictionary bugs see 1082994
6) WD JAVA runtime bugs see 1265969

My cluster suddenly went disappear. and tried to restart the cluster service. When trying to restart service this above mention error comes up.
even i tried to remove the cluster through power-shell still couldn't happen because of cluster service not running.

Could you confirm which account when you start the cluster service? The Cluster service is a service that requires a domain user account.
The server cluster Setup program changes the local security policy for this account by granting a set of user rights to the account. Additionally, this account is made a member
of the local Administrators group.
If one or more of these user rights are missing, the Cluster service may stop immediately during startup or later, depending on when the Cluster service requires the particular
user right.

I often sound muffled to others when using my iPhone. I understand that there are specific settings on the iphone to cover or mask background noise. Is it possible that I have this setting on and that is why I often sound muffled when holding the iphone between my ear and shoulder and not speaking directly into the microphone?

It sounds like your microphone makes you sound muffled to people you talk to on the phone. For that issue, I would use the troubleshooting in the following article:
If your voice is too faint or sounds unclear using iPhone, or iPod touch
Test the microphone
To find out if there is an issue with the microphone itself—and not the app you're using or your cellular connection—test the microphone with the built-in Voice Memos app. Speak into the microphone and then play back the recording. You should be able to hear your voice clearly.
Fix common issues
Follow these steps, testing after each with Voice Memos.
Unplug anything plugged into the headset jack.
If you're on a call and holding your phone next to your ear, speak into the microphone and make sure you don't block it with your fingers or shoulder.
If you're using a screen protector or case that covers the microphone, remove it. Clear any debris from the microphones.
Restart your device.
Update to the latest version of iOS.

I'm trying to grep pacman output for a specific packages (not just zsh) and receive only the package name as it was passed to pacman as a output (if it exists in the repos that is, otherwise blank / exit 1). The above command works fine in the terminal but when I'm trying to use it from a bash script it only returns blanks. How come?
Simplified version of the script:
tank (zsh ksh)
for x in ${tank[*]}; do
echo $x
present=$(pacman -Qs ${x} | cut -s -d/ -f2 | grep '^${x} ' | cut -d' ' -f1)
echo $present
done
I expect it to return output of a pacman command in the second echo (or blank if there's no packgae like that).
