Local host not wroking
My webSharing is no longer working, I always get a "Safari can’t connect to the server." error message when using http://localhost/, http://127.0.0.1 or the address in the network preference.
Apache seems to be running and is not showing any error message when doing an apachectl configtest.
What's wrong ?
Also is there a way to revert the network address to the default of 127.0.0.1 ?
Where do I do it ?

Ouch - i had a couple of typos in there - sorry about that.
I can't edit it for some reason, so let me repost correctly:
It may be a stale lock file if it thinks it's running but isn't binding to the port (may not actually be running).
Try this:
sudo apachectl stop
ls /var/log/apache2
... see what files are in there. Should just be a start log and an error log. If you see a lock file, remove it (sudo rm /var/log/apache2/filename).
If not, then open a second terminal window and run:
sudo tail -f /var/log/apache2/error_log
and in the first try starting apache back up (sudo apachectl start).
See if any errors are showing up.
Finally, see if it's in the process list:
ps -aef | grep -i http

Local node not included in the list of host names for grid installation
I'm attempting to install clusterware on Solaris 11 on 2 nodes. I've tried tweaking the /etc/hosts file in a few different ways by including the fully-qualified name and without it for the localhost, but it still gives me this error every time. The runcluvfy.sh script doesn't run on Solaris 11. Does anyone know how to get around this problem?
I've tried this using the silent install and with OUI, but got the same error both ways. This is the format of the node names:
oracle.install.crs.config.clusterNodes=myLocalNode:myLocalNode-vip1,myOtherNode:myOtherNode-vip2

Best to directly start with 11.2.0.3 and look in MOS for certification, hints requirements.

It seems that the installer installed the Enterprise Multiserver configuration instead of the built in server.
Note that I installed sucessfully on my laptop (Windows XP Home), using the same install parameters.
I chose the "Server configuration" which has a self contained server tunning a single instance with an embedded JEE server. After running though all the installation screens, before proceeding with the actual installation, the installer reported the following:

The installation proceeded without a hitch, except at the end when the browser is supposed to come up with the admin configuration page it can't find the server. Port 8500 is open. I fiddled around awhile to see what the problem was. I installed on the other computer which went fine - the only difference is that the .NET version is 1.1.4322. I then re-installed, without uninstalling, on the problem computer. When the installer got to the screen where I select the server configuration, Enterprise Multiserver configuration was selected and it was not possible to select onything else. I uninstalled and re-installed. Same thing happened.
The processes running included: k2admin.exe, k2index.exe, k2server.exe and CFDotNetsvc.exe. The processes on the sucessful install included cfp.exe and cfupdate.exe.
Note that I had installed Eclipse and the CFEclipse plugin before installing CF9. -

I have checked the box that says 'automatically upload files to server on save' but it doesn't do it.
The only thing I can think of it that it has to be an actual live server? Nothing else can explain it. My setting are fine and like I said, doing it manually works no problem.

CSS works on local host but not when ftp to server
I am completely stumped. I have a site I built on a development platform in XAMPP. The jQuery lightbox css styling works great. Cisco ASA 5505 Cannot ping local traffic and local hosts cannot get out
I have, what I believe to be, a simple issue - I must be missing something.
Site to Site VPN with Cisco ASA's. VPN is up, and remote hosts can ping the inside int of ASA (10.51.253.209).
There is a PC (10.51.253.210) plugged into e0/1.
I know the PC is configured correctly with Windows firewall tuned off.
The PC cannot get to the ouside world, and the ASA cannot ping 10.51.253.210.
I have seen this before, and I deleted VLAN 1, recreated it, and I could ping the local host without issue.
Basically, the VPN is up and running but PC 10.51.253.210 cannot get out.

Which way you are trying. Sending traffic via site to site is not working or traffic which you generate to outside world is not working?
But you say ASA connected interface to PC itself is not pinging that is strange. But try setting up the specific rules for the outgoing connection and check. Instead of not having any ACL.
If it is outside world the you may need to check on the NAT rules which is not correct.
If it is site to site then you may need to check few other things.

I am trying to get a working system at home. Obviously I cannot use a dialup
dynamic IP address, but is there a way to enable iAS 6.0 SP3 to use the
local host address of 127.0.0.1?
kas.exe complains 'value of admin host in registry is invalid (localhost IP
is not acceptable)'. I am running Windows 2000 and I do have a network card
that I sporadically use to connect a laptop. It appears that with Windows
2000, I can not use my Ethernet cards PI address unless I actually have it
connected to a network.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Sometimes Local Address not in ARP table and Ping fails (network problem?)
I see something like this on our network a couple of times a week.
The same replies have been received from different hosts.
ping fails
local subnet machine is not in arp table
ping fails
local subnet machine is not in arp table
traceroute may or maynot succeed
If traceroute succeeds an entry is in the arp table
if traceroute fails no entry will be in the arp table.
A netstat -s, ont the local host, doesn't show any thing strange except that udpNoPorts=10844982 (Unfortunately I don't know what udpNoPorts is)
The remote host IS UP.
Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening?
Can our 100mb network, which is not that busy, be loosing that many ICMP or ARP messages?
This is a problem because I'm the guy getting paged if a system is down.

your WebLogic server is not setup to listen for the IP address. You can change this in the WLS console for the server configuration. Note that when you install WLS and don't define any hostname then it will listen to all addresses (which also is the default for the integrated WLS)

Event ID 1012 - There was an error while attempting to read the local hosts file
When I start my Computer after it has been turned off overnight (switched off at the Power supply) I get a Blue screen and have to reboot the PC. in the Event log it has this error: Event ID 1012 - DNS client events - There was an error while attempting
to read the local hosts file.
Once the PC has booted evrything is O.K. I can restart the PC with no problems, it only seems to happen if the PC has been switched off for a while.

After further Investigation it seems that this error is Not responsible for my Blue screening......I started my PC after leaving it off all night, and it started normally, but i still have this error in the Event Log - System.....I have searched the Technet
forums (and there is a lot of ID 1012 errors) but non relating to my problem....If anyone knows what is causing this error and how to fix it, i'd be Grateful....although it does not seem to affect the PC in any way that i can see.
