Lock Fields with Submit

Running LC ES with SP2.
I want to lock the fields or make them read only after the user submits the form. I don't have or need a digital signature for the initial submission.
Any thoughts? I have tried flattening the form and that isn't working. It is still editable by the manager who gets the form and it's even editable when the user receives the final approval or rejection from the manager.
I know how to lock them down when the manager signs but what about after the user submits. That is what I really need done.
Thanks,
John

is it possible to set a group of text fields (in a subform is fine) to read only by using another field?
in other words, I have a form that a manager will fill out a section with client info, then "lock" that section and send it to the client. The client should not be able to change that information but be able to continue filling out the rest of the form and then return it to us. it must all be client side, no server will be used
I built it in infopath and just have a "password" field that our managers use to set a section to read only. it's not very secure, just a default word I set for all managers, but that security is fine for this

  • How do I lock fields with designer?

    I mean after someone enters some info and tabs out of the field, I want it to lock, or set to read-only. You can do it with acrobat, is it possible in LIveCycle?

    You need to change the access to "readOnly."
    Let's say your field is called "EnterText." It would look something like this:
    EnterText.access = "readOnly";
    Then, to open it again, make it
    EnterText.access = "open";
    I would put the script in either the "change" or "exit" event. Hope that helps!

  • ? using multiple approval signatures, each locking the fields with collections

    Having fun with LiveCycle to make a "signoff" sheet that will allow a customer to request a "new product" with a PDF form. Once that information is added to our EDR (Eng Design Request) form, I want the form to be forwarded to multiple departments, where each department manager adds their name, date, comments, and then signs the document and forwards it to the next manager. I have it set up with "locking" a "collection fields" with each signature, and that is cool to lock their comments to thier signature, such that someone else can't change their comments without first "clearing" their signature field... just what I wanted, cool,, taking it a step further, I wanted to have the original product data protected such that once signed by one, or more managers (Eng, Sales, President), that the data was locked unless all signatures were cleared. I tried this first by including the product definition fields in every signature's "collection of fields" (set to lock after signing). Thought that would be the ticket, pretty pumped to try it, but once I clear one signature, example the "Eng manager signature" I can go in and mess with the specs and then re-sign the document, and the other signatures are still there, thought I have to clear them, not good,,, 2nd try, I then tried to lock the preceeding "signature field" itself with the next signature (added "sig0" to "sig1" collection) and that worked once, but fell apart on the third approval, as clear one signature openned things right up, when it shouldn't have. Anyway, has anyone found a way to have an approval signoff sheet where once signed the data fields are locked unless all the signature(s) are cleared. I think the programming is not handing multiple locks on the sme field properly, ie all locks on that field must be removed for that field to become editable,, There may be a better way to tackle this..
    PS, I have really learned to be cautious when saving the form out of LiveCyle, then renaming it and save out or "Pro" with read permisions enabled, then see if "Reader" can open it,,, if U R not carefull you get and error that the "document has changed and reader can't save, contact the author,,," that was scary as I had to surf through lots of old revs to find one that would work again, something salvagable without going back to MSWord,,,
    Thanks for your help...

    I think I found a way to get it to do what I want,,,
    1) Use the first signature collection lock to lock only the fields that that person is signing-off on.
    2) The next manager then signs off and locks only his comments and text boxes, as well as the signature of the preceeding manager. This way text fields are only locked by one signature collection and thus to edit anything you have to clear that manager's signature to edit the related text boxes, then to re-sign that section you must clear the other (higher level) signatures to open up the signature field for resigning,,, I think this is providing the protection I want,,, Yea,,, let's get this form back into our stupid ISO system ;)

  • Error when communicating with server, and locked fields

    Hi there,
    I am having a really weird, and annoyingly intermittent, problem.
    I'm trying to write a single value to my application via an Input EVDRE, for testing purposes. I've been doing this all morning (admittedly to a different application set but still...) but this time when I "send and refresh", it takes ages before coming back with this error:
    "An error has occurred while communicating with the server"
    Further more, if I look at the table "dbo.lckFinance" there is now a locked field in the database for this specific category and time. So a user without access to a DBA (or the database, in my case!) would be stuck now - even if the communication problem was solved, they couldn't post anyway.
    The application is not part of appshell, we are running BPC version 7.0.112 on SQL Server 2005.
    I've looked in the Event Viewer on the server and found nothing untoward there.
    Any idea what is happening and how I can avoid this in future? The communication thing is obviously a problem, but I'm just as concerned by the locking.
    Please help!
    Many thanks,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
    If you have problems with the network this has to be solved.
    I don't think we can have a software working if a cable was unplug ).
    We advice our customer to use citrix servers in case if the latency into network is high (more than 200 ms) and of course in case of loosing packages.
    But I don't think the problem in your case is related to the network.
    It seems in your case it was a problem of send governor.
    This can have problem when the cube and dimension are not syncronize or you have an error in one of dimensions.
    Also can you check the table sgqueue if you have any record there when nobody is sending data?
    If you have records there then you have to delete these records.
    Check also tbl"your application"lock if you have records.

  • JS error while using input fields with type=file on XP SP2

    Hi all,
    we found a new problem in applications which use input fields with type=file running in a browser on Microsoft Windows XP with SP2.
    A typical test layout might look like:
    <html>
      <head>
        <title>File-Upload</title>
      </head>
      <body>
        <form action="/cgi-bin/upload.pl" method=post
              enctype="multipart/form-data">
          <input type=file size=50 maxlength=100000 name="file"
                 accept="text/*"><br>
          <button onclick="document.forms[0].submit();">Send</button>
        </form>
      </body>
    </html>
    When you add a link without the fully qualified path (for example pic01.jpg instead of c:\pictures\pic01.jpg) and click on the 'Send' button, nothing happens and you get a Javascript error 'Access denied'.

  • Radio Button with Submit Ready Only problem

    Hello,
    My radio button with submit ready only condition doesn't work correctly. When I click the a link on the first page
    it brings me to an update page. I have a radio button with submit, that won't open as a read only.
    It is being populated by SQL query, with the Null option selected. When I open the page I don't want the user to be able to edit the field unless they delete records associated with the field. Pretty much I want it to be disabled if the user has a record associated with it.
    Here are the queries.
    Source:
    SELECT OPLAN_IMPACTED_I
    FROM DFCY
    WHERE DFCY_SEQNO = :P12_DFCY_SEQNO
    Read only condition:
    SQL Exists query
    SELECT o.dfcy_seqno
    FROM oplan_impactd o, dfcy d
    WHERE o.dfcy_seqno = :p12_dfcy_seqno
    and :P12_OPLAN_IMPACTED_I = d.OPLAN_IMPACTED_I
    and :P12_OPLAN_IMPACTED_I = 'Yes'
    So when the page renders it's like you can change oplan, how do I make it read only when the page renders?
    Thanks,
    Mary

    Hi,
    If that is the source of the radiogroup, then it should be:
    SELECT OPLAN_IMPACTED_I d, OPLAN_IMPACTED_I r
    FROM DFCY
    WHERE DFCY_SEQNO = :P12_DFCY_SEQNOThis should return two values for each radio button - the displayed text and the returned value. If your radios do not have a returned value, then "Yes" will never be found. You can check this by loading the page and doing a View Source on it - search for RADIO and check what "value" attributes they have.

  • Select List with Submit - Branch Error - form data does not save

    I am a new APEX user so please excuse my ignorance. I have created a simple application in which a primary data entry form branches either to a detail form (one to many on the parent ID) or a master tabular report used for navigation. These branches work fine. Then I tried to get a little fancy with a conditionally displayed element based on the value the user selects in a select list on the main form(P9_REPORT_TYPE). I converted the select list to a select list with submit and created a new branch (on submit - after processing) to the current page (Page 9) to avoid the "no branch found" error. To avoid the branch being unconditional, I tried to use the 'Request = Expression1' condition with the Expression 1 field set to P9_REPORT_TYPE. The behavior I get is that the page seems to submit but the data on the form is not saved -- even the new value selected in P9_REPORT_TYPE reverts to the old value. I simply need the page data to submit so that the conditionally displayed element will take effect (which it does if you use one of the other button-based branches and then return to the form). Do I have the syntax wrong? It seems like this should be straightforward but I've tried a number of options including using a PL/SQL condition V('REQUEST')='P9_REPORT_TYPE' with no success. I'm guessing that the value of Request is getting cleared before it has a chance to trigger the branch? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Exactly so! Thanks Scott for setting me straight. For the benefit of other readers, the value in the Source Used column had been set to "Always, replacing any existing value in session state" and should have been set to "Only when current value in session state is null".

  • Spry validation issue with submit button

    Hi,
    I'm new to Spry but am having an issue getting it to work at all.  I created a very simply form (i.e. table with Spry text field and submit button).  I've read many articles and been to several forums, but I can't seem to find the issue I'm having.  Basically, when I go to preview the page in a browser, the table with the Spy text field and submit button comes up fine, but when I hit the submit button, I see the page refresh and any values I had in the text field disappear, but nothing ever comes up saying "A value is required," which is what I'm looking for. This happens even if I don't have any values in the text field.  Below are images of what I'm describing and also the code.  I verified that the "Required" check box is checked in the SpryTextField and the submit button action is selected to "Submit Form."  My setup is Win 7, DW6, & XAMPP.  Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
    Before Submit Button pressed:
    Browser after button pressed: (same as above but no message saying "A value is required.")
    Code:

    </script>
    </body>
    </html>

    Do yourself a big favor and don't waste time with Spry Validation.  Most modern browsers support HTML5 forms with the required attribute.
    If you must placate older browsers, use jQuery validate script.  It's lightweight and works when HTML5 support is missing.  You can see an example below. If you hit submit with empty form fields, the required fields pop-up with messages.  View source in browser to see the code.

  • SELECT LIST WITH SUBMIT NOT POPULATING

    I have 3 fields; They are ID, Shortname(PRIMARY KEY), Longname. Longname is a select list with submit based on an lov (called system_longname description) that has a return value of ID. I need to select a value (longname) from that list that will populate automatically the ID and Shortname fields. This is the code I'm using for ID and Shortname, which are both text boxes. The view VSYSTEMS is where the lov is getting it's values.
    'SELECT ID FROM VSYSTEMS WHERE ID = :SYSTEM_LONGNAME DESCRIPTION';
    'SELECT SHORTNAME FROM VSYSTEMS WHERE ID = :SYSTEM_LONGNAME DESCRIPTION';
    Can anyone help me? I keep getting these error messages: invalid SQL statement or SQL command not properly ended.

    Matthew,
    Is this a follow-up to Automatic field population by selecting a LOV ?
    What is the purpose of 'DESCRIPTION' at the end of each query?

  • Is it possible to populate an information field with the expect docURL?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to populate an information field with a function that checks for the expected docURL at checkIn time?
    I need to pass the value of the docURL of the checked in content item to a bpel process.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
    To test:
    1. I created an information field called 'docURL'.
    2. Added a rule called 'docDisplayURL'.
    3. Selected global rule with Priority 1 and use rule activation condition.
    4. Added a condition called 'CheckIn'
    Selected 'Use Event'. 'On Submit'.
    Selected 'Use Action', ' CheckIn New', 'Check In Selected', 'Content Information', 'Content Update', 'Search', Clicked Ok.
    5. Selected the Fields Tab, Selected the 'Information Fields' in the Add Rule Field.
    6. Changed the Type to 'Info Only'.
    7. Selected the Is Derived Field and in Custom entered the following:
    <$DocUrl$>
    8. Now my rule 'displayDocURL' shows up.
    9. When I go to an item content information I don't see the 'DocUrl' field populated. What could I be doing wrong?
    Thanks

  • Text field with autocomplete is always NULL

    Greetings,
    I am new to Apex so I am sure I am missing something obvious. I am using Apex 4.0.1 What I have done is created a form on a table page and added a new text with autocomplete page item. This new text field does not correspond to a column in the table. What I am trying to do is allow the user to use the autocomplete item to make a selection. Then when the user submits the page, I want to use the substr function on the value in the autocomplete field and populate one of the table fields. I have tried using PL/SQL functions in validations and computations but I have found that the value of the autocomplete field is always NULL. I can access the other fields that are associated with a table column fine. It must be something simple. Thanks for your help.
    Page Items
    P2_F1  - text field with auto complete. Not associated with a table column
    P2_F2 – Text field. Is associate with a table column
    This is what I want to do:
    Entered this in a validation
    begin
    if :P2_F1 is not null then
       :P2_F2 := substr(:P2_F1,1,5);
    end if;
    end;Thanks again

    hi,
    The PL/SQL function can also work when you choose Computation point: After submit.
    For reading You can refer APEX documentation
    Application Builder User's Guide: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/toc.htm
    To debug application:
    While you run your application in development environment, you can view debug option on footer .
    Click on it to on debug and again click to debug off.
    To view debug result click on View Debug option.

  • Adobe Form - Locked field

    Hi All
    Could someone please tell me what are the function 'Lock Text', 'Lock Static Object' and 'Lock Field' under 'Edit' on menu selction bar - used for - (I'm new with Adobe Form) - Thanks

    Hi Liem,
    You can find answers to such questions easily in adobe designer help. I am providing below the answer to your query, Hope it will be helpful:
    Lock text:
    LiveCycle Designer lets you lock text in text objects or in the captions of objects by using the Lock Text command. When you select Lock Text, you must double-click the desired text or caption in order to edit it. This makes it not as easy to modify the text. If Lock Text is not enabled, you click in the caption or text object to start editing the text.
    Lock Text applies to all text and captions on the form design. Using Lock Text is particularly useful if you want to select and move objects but not make any changes to the text. You can single-click the object to select it, but you must double-click the caption or text in order make any changes.
    Lock Static Object:
    LiveCycle Designer lets you lock all static objects on the form design by using the Lock Static Objects command. All static objects in the form design cannot be selected, moved, or modified.
    The Lock Static Text command is useful in situations when you have finished formatting static objects in the form design and want to continue working with other types of objects.
    For example, your form includes a large number of text field objects, as well as text objects that provide instructions on filling the form. You have laid out and formatted all the static text objects and need to apply a different font to the text field objects. You can easily do this by locking the text objects and then using Edit > Select All to select all the text field objects at once and then change the font.
    When text objects are locked, the text inside them is also locked. However, if you want to continue to select and move text objects, but not make any changes to the corresponding text, you can change the behavior of the text to make it not as easy to modify.
    Lock Field:
    LiveCycle Designer lets you lock all field objects on the form design by using the Lock Fields command. All field objects in the form design cannot be selected, moved, or modified.
    The Lock Fields command is useful in situations when you have finished formatting the field objects in the form design and want to continue working with other types of objects.
    For example, your form includes a large number of text field objects and check box objects, as well as text objects that provide instructions on filling the form. You have laid out and formatted all the field objects and need to apply a different font to the text objects. You can easily do this by locking the field objects and then using Edit > Select All to select all the static text objects at once and change the font.
    When field objects are locked, their corresponding captions are also locked. However, if you want to continue to select and move fields, but not make any changes to the caption, you can change the behavior of the caption to make it not as easy to modify.

  • Javascript / Select List with Submit problems

    I have a page (page 3) where I can either edit or create a record. If I am editing a record, the data loads on page 3 via a PL/SQL block. On page 3, I have a textual item with Javascript linked to it which pops up a new window. In the Javascript, I am passing three values to the next page. Two of those values (P3_ITEM1, P3_ITEM2) are 'Select List with Submit'. If I am creating a new record from page 3, the Javascript works fine and the popup window comes up when I click on the textual item. However, if I am editing an existing record, I get an error when I click on my textual link. Looking at the address bar, it is not passing the value of P3_ITEM1 and P3_ITEM2 to the next page. It does, however, pass the value of P3_ITEM3 (not a 'Select List with Submit') to the next page. Again, the Javascript popup works fine if I use the 'Select List with Submit' fields to populate P3_ITEM1 and P3_ITEM2 (i.e. if I submit those fields) and it does not work if P3_ITEM1 and P3_ITEM2 are already populated when page 3 loads (i.e. if I do not submit those fields). Looking at the session variables, it appears as though P3_ITEM1 and P3_ITEM2 are set prior to clicking the link which initiates the Javascript. However, the URL in the popup window says the value of those fields is 'undefined'. Does anybody have any idea what I can do to make this work or why it is not working? Thanks.
    -Chris

    Hello Chris,
    It seems like you are having some problem with setting/reading session state, but it’s really hard to pin point the problem without seeing any code. Can you post your two pages on apex.oracle.com?
