Lock up, BSOD, freezing, ad infinitum.

Compaq SR5333WM Desktop
Windows 7 (almost installed)
last known error: STOP: Error 0x000008e
No changes made before the error. tried to reinstall windows, failed. got a new hard drive and tried to install windows, failed. memtest checks out ok. cannot get to the dump files due to not even getting past the BIOS. Restarted BIOS, failed.
The desktop freezes and usually an image displayed on the screen will repeat, for lack of a better discription. I searched the error code when it BSOD'd on me but it didn't say anything about a video card error. I'm at the end of my techical knowledge and need a hand for anyone who has the time to do so. Thanks for reading.

Edric, welcome to the forum.
The symptoms that you describe sound like a failed/ing power supply unit (PSU).  Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot the problem.  I suggest disconnecting any unnecessary components before testing.

  • Problem with BSOD/Freezing probably related to Nvidia driver on Touchsmart IQ810

I have an HP Touchsmart IQ810, now a little elderly but otherwise going strong.
For the last couple of years now I've had a problem with occasional/frequent BSODs, one or two a week. Using crash  dump analyser WhoCrashed this is almost certainly related to the driver for onboard Nvidia 9600GM video chip. The usual advice is to make sure you have the latest driver, but I've tried more recent drivers and they seem to make the problem worse - rather than BSODs, I get screen freezes at least once a day, so I've gone back to the old driver version.
I've run the hardware diagnostic tools and found no problems, I've even tried using MSI Afterburner to turn down the clock speed of the card to prevent overheating, but this makes no difference. BSODs/freezes sometimes occur not long after booting, so surely it can't be overheating.
I've pretty much had to put up with this but I would like it fixed. Any suggestions?

NVIDIA and RADEON Drivers, depending oin what they are doing can really point you in the right spot. If you are still having issues after fully removing and reinstalling the drivers then you are looking towards a Hardware issue. I would check the contact points on your motherboard and other hardware, this is looking more like an issue with your motherboard.
The biggest problems for example when it comes to computers with RADEON cards, because they are big like the NIVIDA cards; just moving your computer or bumping it can cause damage to your componets within your computer and cause issue like this. RADEONS cards are known to have screen tearing and different colored lines through the screen, another thing I would check is to make sure the swtich or voltage on you video card isn't flipped. If the switch is flipped the wrong way, if you end up forcing your card to hard with the little voltage it has running through it your computer WILL BSOD and MSI Afterburner won't even matter, usually voltage is a setting that you don't want to mess with when it comes to using that program, that is why they make switches on these cards.
If it was a driver issue, your machine won't not be BSOD. The reason why I say that is because BSOD happens to help you prevent further damage to your hardware and if the correct settings are not how they should be, something as simple as skype can cause your machine to do thing's it shouldn't. I've had many issues myself that I've gone through, being in the IT field as well I've seen this to be a common issue due to changing configurations or changing what you do on your computer.
You may of not changed anything but just a simple virus can cause programs to do what they are not meant to do.
Boot into safemode and see if you run into this issue still after running it for a few hours, with safemode as you know. You boot with the processes that you need to run the core functions of your computer. If nothing happens it is because your computer has taken a chill pill. If everything is good and you boot into your main OS then you start having this issue again then you know it IS hardware and setting's related. Little thing's like this will make a hug difference.
The switch also is verd had to find but it will be very small and colored white, if you still have the box you video card came in they should have it pointed out where it is.
I hope this helps, if you have any questions please ask.

  • Problems (lock-up or freeze) with Avant Browser

Just an FYI that I seem to have a lock-up or freeze problem occur quite often in Avant Browser.  Seems to happen when I reply to a post.  Avant version 11.7 on Windows XP.

    Useful side topic.
We don't use IE, mostly because it is the most popular target of hackers, but I have tested in Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Avant.  Since all instances of each share the same cookies, I can't seem to have multiple gmail accounts open at the same time in different tabs or windows of the same browser.  Honestly, in Avant I can't even figure out how to open multiple windows.
One exception is that in Chrome you can start an incognito session, which can have 1 other gmail account open, so in Chrome I can have 2 gmail accounts open at the same time.
I have heard that there might be a solution in Firefox having to do with profiles and a "no remote" option.  Will try to find out more.

  • Lock-Ups and Freezes PLEASE HELP

    Hello everyone..
I come here to see if anyone can help me... Ive done it all and nothing is working.
I just recently started having problems with my computer, im not sure why this happend but ill try to explain everything as best as I can.
The problem started a few days ago while I was playing SWG's. I was playing and all of a sudden my machine froze, the screen locked-up and then after about 2 min the entire system restarted. I then logged back into my windows and after a while a system froze and restarted yet again. I though it was a SWGs issue but then the computer would freeze while browsing the net and doing other tasks.
I have formated my machine, re-installed my drivers, and re-installed the hardward. Nothing has worked.
    My computer specs are
    300watt PSU Enermax True Power
    MSI K7n2 nforce2 8xagp mobo

    512mb of Kingmax DDR 2700
    SB audigy x-gamer sound card
    MSI geforce4 ti 4200 8xAGP graphics card
    Hope thats enough..
One last thing... When my computer restarts after the problem i get a message asking me to report the problem to microsoft... i located the error file and this is what was writen in it....

If what you are saying, and I am reading correctly:
The machine and game was working just peachy and all of a sudden the problem manifested itself?
Did you do ANYTHING to change your system prior to this happening to possibly have an effect?
the fast that you said you have re-loaded the OS and removed and re-installed the hardware with the same result tells me that there may be some sort of hardware failure and this could get difficult to troubleshoot.
First things first, try a memory testing software like memtest86 to see if you get any errors.

  • Audigy 2 on Neo2 Platinum causes LOCK UPs/BSODs!!! Help!

I have a videocard with a HUGE, I mean HUGE custom CPU heatsink attached to it.  This leaves me only ONE slot available for my Audigy 2.  And that slot is the last slot 5, orange color.
Its the ONLY ONE AVAILABLE.  I read on these forums about some incompatibility of Audigy 2 with MSI Neo2 Platinum.  Thats what I have.  I tried several later and older BIOSes including the official one and the latest beta one.
Still, when I play UT2004 or some other games that demand EAX/Hardware 3D sound - I get a dark blue BSOD without a message (its like a non-WinXP BSOD, its a hardware BSOD as I call it, dark blue color).  It comes with a sqeeking sound.  I have to restart my PC afterwards.
It happens after 3-4 minutes of playing.
When I REMOVE the soundcard - everything is fine, NO BSOD.
I tried different Audigy 2 drivers, but they all give the same result.  This did not happen on my old ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe 2.0, and the soundcard was in PCI Slot 5 as well.  I tried to format, and etc., - same thing if the soundcard is in the PCI slot!
I have PCI lock ENABLED (AGP set to 67Mhz, and PCI LOCK DETECTION set to ENABLED).
How do I fix this problem?

When you said that you have PCI lock enabled and PCI lock detection enabled, were you talking about the same thing?  If not, where in the BIOS is the PCI lock? I could only find PCI Lock Detection.

  • [SOLVED] GX600 Locking up and freezing

hey guys, I am new to MSI, I admittedly have been more of an ASUS fan of laptops, but received a new GX600 last week, and I have been having issues.
I ordered the laptop with a 1gb ram upgrade, and the seller gave me a shocking 1gb micron technologies stick, that was constantly locking up my system - so i removed it, and the system since has not shown the same symptoms (freezing, becoming unresponsive)
My new issue is a strange one, and I have been looking around the forum, and havn't found anyone else with an issue the same as it.
Every few hours or so, The screen will go black, and the unit will become unresponsive. It needs power to be cut for it to turn off, allowing me to turn it back on. Sometimes the unit will just restart.
This is a fresh install and update of vista, and I had a feeling it was the ram that was the issue. Running Memtest, the screen would just stay on this:

Is anyone else having similar issues with an MSI notebook? the issue is frustrating!
E: I am running the most recent BIOS.

First of all don't panic! It can be just a protective mode* which all our notebooks have implemented. To check if it's a fault or is it just the protective mode that has been triggered please:
    - take the battery out. It's that black long part at the back end of the notebook. There will be 2 latches holding it. You need to slide them to unlock the battery and then slide the battery outwards.
    - unplug the mains from the notebook.
    - leave the unit unplugged from the mains and battery for 2 sec.
    - plug back just the battery
    - power on your notebook.
If it was just our protective mode triggered then the unit will power and work as per normal. You can then plug the battery anytime.
If the unit will still wont display anything then call the notebook hot line or create a ticket and we will assist.
*the protective mode is there to prevent hardware damages to the unit when charges to it or it's settings have been made. Such mode can be triggered by a improper installation/shutdown, power cut, power voltage jump etc. In such event the unit does not power on fully to protect itself; the screen stays black although some lights on the unit will light up. Discharging the unit completely will reset the settings and any minor power management issues.
    UPDATE
The unit just suffered another Black screen, and would only boot into this black screen, until i removed the battery for a few minutes (again :S). any ideas?

  • My lock screen keeps freezing ios 7.1

    Hi guys,
I want to know if I am alone in this issue or if it is widespread?
Since updating my iphone 5 to ios 7.1 my lock screen freezes. Not all the time, mainly if there is a notification of a text etc. I have to turn the phone off and on and it sorts it but it shouldn't be happening surely?
Am I alone in this? My touchscreen was fine until after the update.

Have you tried restarting the phone or reset all settings?

  • My iPod keeps showing the apple logo + a blank screen and the lock screen keeps freezing when trying to unlock it.

Last night I turned my iPod touch 4g off randomly and then when I went to turn it back on and went to unlock the screen it froze up right there and will not unlock to the home screen to where all my apps and all that are. Ever since that happened the iPod keeps showing the apple logo repeatedly, as well as a screen being completely blank when still turned on. Also when i plug in the iPod to the computer it recognizes it for a second but the iPod does nothing and shuts off and repeats in showing the apple logo and blank black screen. I can get it to the home screen where the slide to lock button is but every time i even attempt to slide it, it freezes up and doesn't do it.
I also having been trying to restore it by plugging in the cord and pressing the home button to get the screen with the usb cord to pop up but no matter what i do, it will not let me turn the iPod off period because every time i keep trying to do that it just shows the apple logo and all of what i said up above again. I have also seen it get a white screen to show a few times , which i assume means the white screen of death. I have never seen that screen before this happened.
I know this is not making any sense whatsoever but this is very hard to put into words in explaining. I have searched the internet but i can't find a single problem that sounds like this one in solving to fix it. The iPod is on right now as i'm typing this. I haven't attemtped to push the buttons down again to fix as i would assume maybe to just leave it alone as i sleep through the night in hopes of it maybe working or even dying. I've only had this iPod for 4 months now and i just don't understand why it won't let me turn it off completely or work properly for me to restore it.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus locks up or freezes

My new 8600 screen after a short time freezes then a short time later goes blank and the power button blinks.    I have to unplug and then plug it in again.  The printer is not discoverable when it is in this state.  I have the printer setup wirelessly.  The blue WiFi light stays on the whole time.  All of this is almost as if it is going to sleep or eco mode.  The only problem is it will not wake-up.
I have tried resetting the factory defaults and starting over, to no avail.
I have removed all HP programs from the computer and reinstalling, again to no avail.
I have checked and downloaded the updates from HP.
I do have wireless Direct on and have used it.
When I touch the WiFi symbol it shows 2 bars and connected.
Schedule on and off are both disabled.
Any ideas as to why my new printer will not wake-up?
    WAB1

If you are using your printer wirelessly, check your modem/router.  Chances are, the problem is there and not with the printer.  I just purchased an 8620, and the freezing and/or offline issues were directly related to my outmoded router.  The modem/router was 2 years old, but that was old enough to be problematic.  I have a new modem, and an external router (my own Netgear Nighthawk) and all issues have gone away.   I am no longer hate my HP printer - it works beautifully now, no freezing, no locking, no getting lost or being offline anymore.  External router is a good idea - but be aware that the industry is in the process of switching from N to AC, so if you get an "N" you might have to upgrade sooner than if you purchase an AC/N. Just a suggestion.
Also - if your printer is new, call the helpline and don't use the forums.  The helpline is great and solved my problem.  The only thing I hate about the helpline is that it won't help you after a year.  That is when the forums might be helpful (or not).

  • MSI Z87 G45 GAMING erratic BSOD/freeze @ 2300, stable @1600. Can't solve.

    Hi All,
I would welcome some advice. I am about 4 months into a new machine build:
    * MSI Z87 G45 GAMING motherboard
    * i7-4770K Haswell 3.5 GHz & aftermarket heatpipe cooler
    * 4 x 4Gb G.Skill SNIPER DDR3-2133 PC3-1700  (F3-17000CL11D-8GBSR)
    * GeForce GTX 650 Ti  w/ 2 Gb Video RAM
    * Samsung 840 Pro 256 Gb SSD
    * Thermaltake 700W Toughpower
    * Win 7 Pro 64-bit SP1
The system seems to run fine at the default 1600 MHz RAM speed, however if I implement either of the X.M.P. profiles (which kick the memory speed up to the RAM's advertised  speed of 2133 MHz), the system will occasionally (every 8 to 48 hours) freeze or BSOD.  The BSOD stop codes are inconsistent in number (0x00, 0x41, 0x1E, 0xC4) and driver.  When the system freezes, there is no consistent behavior.  I am not doing any other overclocking besides using the X.M.P. profile in the memory.
RAM timing on the 2133 X.M.P. profile is: 11-11-11-30.
I have updated the BIOS to 1.5, including the ME, and updated all drivers in the system.  All irrelevant hardware and drivers are disabled.  Also I have done the following:
    * MemTest+  5.01 for over 30 hours, all 4 sticks in.  No errors.
    * Intel BurnTest on 'Very High', 10 passes, no errors
    * Prime95 for over day with 90 C CPU temps constantly being hit.  No errors.
    * Unigine Valley Benchmark for 30 minutes; no issues
I increased V_DRAM from 1.60V (from the XMP profile) to 1.65V, and I also added  +0.10V offset to increase the CPU I/O ANALOG , CPU I/O DIGITAL  and SYSTEM AGENT voltages.  Didn't seem to help.  All other CPU voltages are default from [auto].
I rolled the memory speed back to the default 1600 MHz, and the system seems stable as a rock.
I don't really need to have the memory run at 2133 MHz, but it irks me that the system is not stable with the rated components, and I'm befuddled why the stress tests seem to pass just fine, then the system will randomly hang with arguably a far less demanding load than the stress tests.
Note that I have not yet:
    * reset the CMOS when changing to X.M.P.  Perhaps I should?
    * reseated the graphics card or CPU.  The latter will require R/R of the thermal grease, which I will do if needed, but it's a pain.  Since the system is stable at 1600 MHz, I assumed that all basic systems are working as they should.
    * Tried to work my way up in memory speed step by stem from 1600 to 2133 to see where things fall apart.
    * Tested the video memory
I suspect main system memory, despite the clean bill of health from MemTest, and based on many of the comments to others with similar problems from the veterans on this board.   I don't want to push the CPU voltages too much above the default/auto values, for fear of damage and reduced lifetime.
Also, the power supply is a nice unit from an older high-end gaming rig. It is rated at 700W.  The PS does probably have over 30,000 hours on it (24/7 use for 3-4 years), however.  Strange that it would work at 1600 MHz fine, and with only slightly more power load at 2133.  I suppose stranger things have happened.
I've read the suggestions to run only 2 sticks, rather than 4, but I can't justify dropping $140 on new memory (I don't really need the extra speed benefit, it's more curiosity and just not knowing at this point).
Anyway, perhaps more seasoned souls than I can share their thoughts.  The system is perfectly usable at 1600, but I'd really like to know where the lockups are stemming from.  Troubleshooting is maddening because of the inconsistency in the long times before failure and lack of repeatability to reproduce the issue.
Thanks in advance for your time.
    -Paul

Thank you both for the prompt replies.  I'm learning a lot.
Turns out I also found this from G.SKILL in going over reviews of the memory modules I have.  Another user had a similar configuration as mine and was having similar problems.  G.SKILL replied:
    Quote
We are sorry to hear you were unable to get two kits working in the same system. It is not guaranteed two kits can operate at the rated specifications since they were not pre-matched, tested, and guaranteed at factory. With multi-channel motherboards, perfectly matching memory is necessary to achieve high frequency. This is why we must offer high capacity 32GB, 64GB kits, otherwise we can just sell one module at a time and have you purchase as many as you need. Unfortunately, memory does not work that way. If you purchase a 16GB kit rated at DDR3-2133, you should have absolutely no issues. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly for assistance.
    Thank you
    GSKILL SUPPORT
Not knowing any better, I simply purchased two "kits" of 2x4 GB each and installed them.  Perhaps worse, if the modules were matched, I may well have mixed them up so the matched modules don't even sit in the same channels 1/3 or 2/4.  G.SKILL seems to have a pretty responsive board, so I'll ask them what they suggest.
Also in the end, I really just want a stable machine. This is a basically an office/engineering machine.  My initial thinking was that if the system was unstable at 2133 then there is something wrong with it that needs to be fixed.  It sounds instead like getting to 2133 is not guaranteed, and is much more of an art than simply throwing the modules in and powering up the system.
I'm perfectly happy at 1600 knowing the system is stable.  Indeed realizing now that 2133 requires overclocking, I may well have backed off to 1600 even if everything had worked just fine at 2300, just to trade extra stability for the (small) performance improvement that I would likely never notice anyway.
I'll put together a post for the G.SKILL forums, and if I get anything useful I'll post what I learn here for completeness.
Thanks again for the fast and informative replies.  It's much appreciated.
    Best,

  • Flash Player10 download page locks up and freezes can't get update.

    Hello,
I have been trying for a long time to upgrade to Adobe Flash Player 10 with no success.  Everytime I go to the download page it locks up and I can't click on the active x control to allow the download.  I get this Dr. Watson error which says:  Postmortem debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close.  When I click send error report the screen freezes and then I have to do a ctrl, alt delete to get the task manager and get out of it from there.  I have no idea why this keeps happening.  This is the only webpage/site that does this.  I am running windows xp and internet explorer 8.  I can't play certain games on facebook, or view any videos on websites, or upload videos to my catster account which I am paying for etc that need the flash player10 update because I can't get the update!  Any ideas???

Ok, Adobe support has looked into this issue and feels it might be an issue on some machines with DEP and are working to make sure it is no longer an issue.
In the meantime they suggest removing Adobe Download Manager from your add/remove programs and installing the software manually.
Manual install link for shockwave http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp
To download adobe Flash and Reader you need to start IE without add-on manager running to do this go to Start, Run, and put in "iexploer -extoff" without the quotes and run.  Then go to adobe.com and click the usual buttons and when you get there and click install, you'll need to click the "Your download will start automatically, if it doesn't click here to download" message.

  • BSOD, freezes etc.

Hey. I am pretty desperate right now, with only three days to a big exam. And that's why I'm making this
    post.
I bought this laptop in dec. 2013. Model is Lenovo Ideapad Y410P.
    Specs:
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    4th Generation Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB)
    8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz
    NVIDIA GeForce GT755M GDDR5 2GB
    1TB 5400 RPM+24GB SSD
    Intel® Wireless-N 7260 (802.11bgn)
After a while, completely out of the blue, i get a BSOD. I try pretty much everything to get it booting, and
eventually it boots when i enter boot menu and boot from windows startup manager. By this point, i had already tried reinstalling windows.
Now that it's booted, it keeps showing "no bootable drive found" when I start the laptop. So the
only way to get it working is repeating what i described above - every time. It also freezes pretty much every 10 minutes, and is frozen for the next 5-10 mins. Often, explorer.exe and other windows apps like taskmanager, device manager etc. will freeze, while
chrome usually works. The weird thing though is that web pages don't load. I can open a tab, enter a web address, and the loading wheel starts spinning, but nothing happens. Also, I had an installer open during one freeze, and the green bar was frozen, but
the install was complete when it unfroze, so it was working on that during the freeze.
I also have an unknown device in device manager, and found it to be this one: pcidatabase <dot>
    com/vendor_details.php?id=1314
    Googling for drivers renders
no results, but I am currently installing all avaliable drivers from lenovos homepage.
BIOS version is according to lenovo not possible to upgrade, and is always latest version. (Dont know how that
    happens)
Before reinstalling, I took out the HDD, and copied all files to a stick. I scanned the drive, and its health
is excellent. I have a hybrid drive, with two partitions. OS is on the HDD, so is startup.
Event viewer shows two critical events, logged in at the exact time when one of the freezes ended. Event is
    Event 10110, DriverFrameworks-UserMode.
Please let me know if there is more information I should include, and I would really appreciate any help!
EDIT: Adding some more from event viewer.

    EDIT 2:
I suspect that the the drive (maybe partitioning) is at fault. I have tried to open disk management, but it's stuck at waiting for virtual disk service. The vds is not working as it should either, and after trying to stop it, it's stuck
in stopping. taskkill /f command says it's not running, while sc start vds say's there's already an instance of it running. sc queryeq vds command says it's stopping. Trying solutions from here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/8b5d2c5b-c212-4e3f-96e3-91e668d3b178/unable-to-connect-to-virtual-disk-service?forum=windowsserver2008r2management

    Hi,
    Apologize for the late reply.
How is the situation by now?
Regarding BSOD issue, we need at least two dump files to narrow down the cause.
And we'd better make a contact with the manufacturer to have an examination of the hardware health, just in case.
    Best regards

  • MSI VN220GT MD1G|GeForce 220 GT - causing lock ups/screen freezes

Hi, I've been searching everywhere for my problem, and the things I find usually are left unanswered :(
I recently upgraded my old graphics card (GeForce 7300 GT) to the GeForce 220 GT, at that time I was using Windows XP SP3. Everything went fine then, I downloaded the newest driver from nVidia (195.62) and restarted, everything went smoothly.
It was then my computer started to freeze, to the point where I can't do anything (mouse/keyboard unresponsive). I am forced to force reboot. This freezing usually happens randomly when there's nothing to provoke the problem.
So I decided to upgrade to the new Windows 7. I did everything it told me to and everything went very well. But the problem still occurs, but more often, and around 30 minutes after logging in. I got the Windows 7 32 bit version of the new nVidia driver (195.62) and installed it. Did nothing. I have also tried to update windows which also did nothing.
These forum threads ask the same question I am now asking:

I am currently posting this in safe mode, very frustrated too. Help would be greatly appreciated, I have no where else to find answers :S

I did some more research on the net and it seems this PSU is labelled under many different names. I found a Portuguese site that did the test for this unit and then used the google translator tool.
    refer to http://www.clubedohardware.com.br/artigos/1818/1
    Some translated extracts:
The Coletek is a national brand aimed at the OEM market, or its source is aimed at companies that assemble PCs They have a separate brand for products geared to the retail market, the C3Tech. Today we test the model LC-8460BTX S (which, despite its name, is an ATX and not a BTX) that is sold as a source of 450 W. Really?.....
....Speaking of curiosity, in Figure 7 you can see the marking of the type of fuse in the circuit board of the source. All sources bring this information. But the curious thing here is that the marking indicates that for a source from 150 to 200 W a 5 A fuse should be used and to a source from 230 to 300 W from a 6.3 A fuse should be used. As this power supply uses a fuse of 6.3 A, we have a source between 230 and 300 W, according to their own existing markup on the printed circuit board thereof. As the manufacturer can turn that into 450 W on the label of the source is a magic that Mr. M can not explain.....
....The Coletek LC-S 8460BTX burned when trying to draw about 225 W (which would be our test number seven). So the most you can pull it was about 190 W (which would be our test of 200 W). More information and video on the next page.
So I recommend that you perhaps translate the whole article to get the full results. In your case, I believe the PSU should be the first place where you should try something a bit more realistic before you do anything else.

For a system with a 220 installed PSU with +12V~30A minimum is recommended. My recommendation is to get nothing less than a quality PSU such as a Corsair VX450W +12V~33A. That junk PSU is typical of the worthless ones that are often provided by case manufacturers and examples of similar units that can be purchased for as little as $10 (USD) on eBay.
Thank-you so much guys, you've most likely have just diagnosed and gave me a solution for my problem
At first I never knew all PSU's were different, and that my new graphics card could handle whatever I had in my system at the moment.
I don't think I will bother checking my PSU if my current PSU is a Okia or a Xion, I may as well upgrade the thing anyway
Just some things I need cleared up though:
Firstly, is it the Corsair VX450W that I would want to buy and install to run my card? Is it affordable?
And secondly, are PSU's hard to install/upgrade? Where can I find a guide/tutorial for this kind of thing?
