Locked AGP/PCI

Can the k7n2 delta-ISLR lock the AGP/PCI bus?
Want to OC a 2600XP with corsair PC3200LL.

the AGP clock frequency is set at default (66).
Should the PCI auto detect also be enabled?
Is that all that is needed to lock the AGP/PCI bus?

  • MSI Pro2-C (6562) - How to lock AGP/PCI clock ?

    hi,
I use the BIOS 1.1 with this card, and can't lock the AGP/PCI Clock (66/33)
Is there an utility which can do that, or is it possible with the BIOS 1.2 ?
    thx

-> LINK to the MB specifications.
    MSI Pro2-C / MS-6562_i845
With this bios (1.1), I can't lock the agp/pci clock to 66.66/33.33 and when the FSB is about 105, pci extensions are out.
So, I would like to know if it's possible to lock agp/pci clock with the BIOS 1.2 (or maybe another bios), or if it's possible to do that with software (and if yes, which software)
CPU is p4 willamette 1.7 (17*100) and I think it would be possible to reach a fsb around 120 (@2040 Mhz) if I can lock agp/pci clock.
    thanks for your help

  • 875p, I CANT LOCK my PCI / AGP Frequency using FAST,TURBO, or ULTRA

i have an 875p neo. i am one setting away from loving this mainboard(finally). i have a 2.8ghz running at 3.0 (with a 1:1 FSB/RAM). i can run stable in TURBO MODE, with "timings by SPD". i am using 1.7 bios (1.8 gives me lower performance). i tried all the bios from 1.4 and up. my problem is I CANT LOCK MY AGP/PCI frequency. no matter what, it boots up in windows as 70/35, but only when using FAST,TURBO,or ULTRA PERFORMANCE MODE. my agp/pci frequency locks fine at 66/33(67/34) if i run in SLOW MODE, but any other performance mode setting overclocks the AGP PCI frequency to 70/35. this causes my ATI 9700np to freeze almost instantly while playing any game. luckily my ATI card has unlocked bios or the problem would be worst. i have been using CLOCKGEN to throw the settings back to 66/33 when windows loads, and i get no freezes. BUT I WANT A PERMANENT FIX MSI. not a CLOCKGEN patch. my question to you all out there:
IS THERE A particular BIOS THAT I CAN USE THAT will LOCK THE PCI/AGP FReQUENCY while using FAST,TURBO, and ULTRA PERFORMANCE MODES? or another way to lock the setting in the bios?any suggestions? thanks
    EDIT 2:
i just remembered, i forgot to tell you all. my agp/pci lock works fine if i run my ram in 333mhz mode. i have 400mhz ram. i was a running 1:1 ratio. agp/pci doesnt lock only if i use "auto" or "400mhz" settings. it run fine when i have my ram set to run at 333mhz. are you runnig at 400mhz or 333mhz? if 333mhz i can see why i left you guys confused...sorry.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MY FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL I GUESS WE HAVE TO USE THE GHETTO FIX FOR NOW:
(i am assumming this is an ATI CARD only PROBLEM)
download clockgen and install it. check your AGP/PCI frequency. if it reads  70/35 then you have a problem, which will cause your ATI card to freeze up during a period of use.
unlock your cards bios(if it's not already unlocked). this will allow room for the 70/35 AGP/PCI frequency overclock. get info from rage3d.com forum on how to unlock your  ATI card.
make your clockgen settings startup when windows boot, @***ghz, 66/33 agp/pci(read the clockgen instructions on how to run clockgen on boot)
    download radclocker and install it.
set the AGP core/mem clock speeds to what you desire. then bump down the core TWO NOTCHES, then the memory down TWO NOTCHES then click "use current" bios button. 70/35 boot overclock pushes your ATI core/memory up two notches, so by setting radclocker 2 notches , radclocker takes the 70/35overclock two nothes lower. you have your desired speed. then clockgen throws your agp/pci frequency back to 66/33....which makes everything work right. it all boots in the right order for me.
    explaination:
when windows starts it boots your agp/pci frequency@ 70/35. you need to be at 66/33 AGP/pci frequency for your ati card to run correct and not lock up after intense gameplay. radclocker underclock your card.clockgen puts your agp/pci to 66/33 AGP/PCI frequency.

  • So does the AGP/PCI lock work or not??

I have read many contridicting reports as to whether the AGP/PCI lock actually works on the K8N Neo Platinum.
Some say yes, some say no, some say setting it to 67 in the bios enables the locks.  Does anybody actually know for sure, and not rely on that Clockgen thingy??  Also, if it must be set to 67 for sure, will this be addressed in a future bios release??
I am currently a bit scared to begin overclocking when I hear about RAID sets dropping out on the account of unlocked buses on a board that is supposed to have locked buses.....

I heard if you changed the AGP bus to 68 it will still lock but you will get much better overclocking results...

  • Agp/pci frequency lock at 33 mhz ??

  • Agp/pci clock locking help please

i have the 865pe neo, using patriot memory with winbond 5ns chip, have no problem running at 250mhz in corecenter, however when i try to o/c in bios, when with the agp/pci clock locked, i can still it increasing up to 80mhz/xxxmhz as i increase the front bus speed of the cpu, anyone having the same problem with this board? will new bios fix this? by the way , i can't manually change the agp/pci clock , it's grayed out and "locked" this ths only option available under "apg/pci clock" there's no manual setting, soeone please help i can bring this board back to get the 875p if thats  needed
    thanks fo ryou help

    Hi tgn,
MSI have this feature locked to prevent us from o/c the CPU multipiler settings. Can't say that whether this is good or bad for o/clockers like us. Unlike Abit which unlocks everything, MSI keep settings to what the mobo detects the CPU model is, i.e, if you're running a P4 2.4, then your Multipiler settings will be 18x with 133 FSB x 4 to make 2400+- MHz, try calculating the mathematics way and you'll know how far you can o/c to.
Corecenter o/cing is another way MSI sets as it will directly show you the speed your CPU is running at vs the multipiler settings.
    All the Best... :D!!!

  • Does My MS-6534 Has AGP/PCI Lock Feature?

Hello, I would like to ask, does my MSI MS-6534 i845 has AGP/PCI Lock feature?
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=40
    Does it support overclocking?
Cause I want to overclock my CPU and I afraid it will cause some damages to my VGA Card or PCI slot card.
    My PC specs:
    Intel PIV 1.5 GHz (100x15)
    SDRAM 256MB + 128MB PC133, total 384MB
    Seagate 7200.7 40GB
    Sapphire R9500 128MB mod to R9700
    PSU 400 Watt
Last week my soundcard didn't sound anything after I set my FSB from default 100 to 113.
And then my PC boots so slow.
I play Wining Eleven 7 adn it goes slow, not as usuall.
Does somebody can give me some solution.
    Sorry for my English.

I afraid that my VGA card was damaged cause i overclocked my CPU too high.
Are there any indications of damaged VGA Card or other peripheral like harddisk or soundcard?
    I so afraid.

  • Do k8t neo fis2r have agp/pci lock?

    Hi
I just read a test of my motherboard (MSI k8t neo fis2r).
I was written that the motherboard had a agp/pci lock.
Does it so? I dont want to damage my 9800xt with to high agp bus so i need to know! please

Simple fix... Don't overclock the system clock or what people mistakenly reffer to as the Front Side Bus (FSB)... The issue is not just with the motherboard but rather with the VIA K8T-800 chipset. The Hyperthreading, PCIO, and AGP are all tied to the system clock so when you change that clock everything is affected. Some things can handle it and some things can't. If you leave the system clock alone then there are no worries.

  • K8T Neo AGP/PCI lock - never here?

    Anandtech states on their review:
"We contacted MSI, who told us this will be included in an upcoming BIOS upgrade."
Have we ever seen this AGP/PCI clock lock?

Via themselves reported that in the K8T chipset they could not get it to work. That is why they built the K8T pro chipset. The Neo systems with the original K8T chipsets can not nor ever will have PCI/AGP lock.

  • AGP/PCI Lock

I just wanted to know if there is a working agp/pci lock for the K9t NEO-fis2r out yet.  If not, does anyone know when this might be included in a bios revision, or is it just a pipe dream?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

k9t should be k8t sorry hehe

  • PT880 and AGP/PCI Lock---is this it??

Have visited Viarenea and others----supposedly Via has instituted an AGP/PCI Lock for the first time on their chipsets and the PT880 board is the first to have it.
I found this in the Manual----Frequency/Voltage controls in Bios:
    Page 3-28
    AGP Frequency
This item is used to configure the AGP frequency. Settings: From 66.9 to
    100.9 at 1 increment.
Am not sure----but I believe this setting to be the long absent AGP/PCI lock setting that Via was notorious for NOT having----but supposedly fixed with this chipset.
This sounds very similar to Bios settings on various NForce2 boards that DOES lock the AGP/PCI bus
    Anybody know anything about this?
Basically, an AGP/PCI lock is ESSENTIAL for any kind of serious overclocks.
    Thanks----John

You are Absolutely Correct "johnrr6", This is VIA's new AGP/PCI Bus Lock/Divider .....And it is About Time!!!..........Sean REILLY875

  • PT880----is the AGP/PCI lock working???

I ran across some interesting results looking in Aida32 at my V-link thruput under motherboard.
It was showing a 77 mghtz clock----and my thruput bandwidth was way higher than the mode 4 setting max of 1066.  Makes sense----why not---but shouldn't it be locked to 66.6 too??
It appears that overclocking also overclocks the V-Link clock and bandwidth.
Now I know that technically V-Link is NB-SB connections speeds-----and may not have anything to do with the PCI/AGP bus.
But I have had some folks tell me that NB-SB connections are directly entwined with the PCI/AGP bus.
And-----VIA is claiming that the SB hosts the RAID controller now----and it doesn't use the AGP/PCI bus in the classic way.
So----I guess what we need to see is evidence that the PCI/AGP bus is actually running at 66.6----even when overclocked.
Anybody know software that will tell us that----In Aida somewhere??
Thoughts anyone??  Am I mixing apples with oranges??

johnrr6 => The value are you reading is the frequency of communication bus between NB & SB(not the PCI freq.), on my Intel board is the same when i push the FSB highter. And it's normal and the PCI Bus still locked .
The good test for PCI Fix Working for me, is my sat tuner card and my SCSI card because when i increased frequency of PCI bus => theses cards become crazy (CRC errors, SCSI Bus reset randomly on my SCSI card & many lockup, heavy graphical corruption  on my sat tuner card) if the frequency of PCI Bus isn't near of 33Mhz.
Thanks----excellent explanation----so I was basically comparing apples to oranges------differnt buses entirely.
Same clock chip for me: ICS 952911BF-----there were some other numbers on it----do you need those??
Different subject---but along the same lines------am starting to see a cold boot problem at anything above 225 FSB
Computer will initially boot fine----run stable----no problems----then when I go to Start>>>>>>shutdown----and do a normal shutdown.....it shuts down fine....
But after a normal shutdown, it will not reboot for several tries----then----all of a sudden it will reboot fine on one of the tries.
If I pull the power cord and let it sit for a minute-----it will usually fix the problem and boot fine.
    Any suggestions???
