Log on problem, Says email will be sent to help log on but it doesn't arrive at my mailbo

I've purchased a new computer but I can't get my bookmarks to transfer. Foxfire won't let me log in. It says it will send an email to my address, [email protected] but i never receive the email so I can't complete the log in to my account.

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
If iTunes has broken entries for the missing tracks then it won't transfer the corresponding tracks from your iPhone or from your Purchase History. If you cannot locate the tracks anywhere, you can delete the entries and transfer/download them again if you are not worried about ratings/playlist membership etc. If these thigns are important to you then there is probably a way to download the media to a new libray, then reconnect the old library to the freshly downloaded tracks, e.g. with FindTracks.

    Can you explain the problem in more detail - "not allowing me to access" isn't clear to me. If you get any errors, please give the full wording. If you just don't seem to have any useful functions under TOOLS, make sure you are NOT still running Adobe Reader.

    Anyway, as I mentioned, I don't use any sync-able email, just a very plain-jane POP email provider. iSync reports no devices and has nothing in its log, which matches my never having installed anything in need of syncing.
    The thing is, if Mail says its sending something when nothing was ever sent, that's a largish bug whether it is actually sending something or isn't, and there isn't really enough info here to know which of those are the case. Maybe Mail just displays "Sending" because an attempt to do something reasonable is timing out, maybe it does an innocuous and normal POP thing using very confusing nomenclature, or maybe it's really trying to send something which has a wrong flag or something. There isn't really enough info to know what is going on, so I was hoping someone could identify the symptoms.

    Try this. Don't open the email. Swipe across it in the preview window and a red delete button will pop up. Use that to delete it. You can delete it from the trash the same way if needed.

  • Problem with Airport - will connect to a WEP 40/128bit but not a FREE wifi

    Hopefully someone who reads this will be able to help.
    I connected my iBook to a wifi connection that required a 40/128bit Hex security connection last week, and have since left that connection (although I'm using it now just to try and fix the problem).
    Today I went to a cafe with a free wifi connection available, and although my Airport connected to the connection available, it wouldn't allow me to actually CONNECT to the internet in any way - no email, no safari.
    I have a feeling I've tripped a setting somewhere for the last connection that I used and now I can't turn it back - I feel like I'm missing a step somewhere.
    Any ideas??

    Moving from one Internet connection to another often leads to problems later. It is not just with WiFi. I have had trouble just switching from wireless to ethernet and back to wireless on the same router.
    The usual way to clear up the problem is to delete all your network preferences so that that iBook forgets where it has been. To do this, go to the folder
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ and delete the files
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist and NetworkInterfaces.plist. It's safe.
    To avoid the problem, set up different locations in your Network Preferences and then always set your location tell your iBook where you are trying to connect from. That way, your iBook will do the right thing for that location; and this will not affect what it does for other locations.

    This happens when I log into my webmail & website. This does not happen in firefox & I have that set to tell me when I send anything unencrypted. I know that my wireless network is encrypted. Web page does not have its own security certificate but uses shared one through my hosting company. This did not always do this - this is a fairly new warning (possibly connected to recent Safari update???). Do I have a real security problem here that Firefox isn't catching or is this a bogus Safari message & username & password are actually encrypted?

    I googled your message and found a thread where someone had this odd problem.  They solved it by unplugging their router, waiting a minute and plugging it back in.  They said this completely solved getting this message.

    Can you please try explaining your problem one more time but this time include more details? Like where are the emails you are trying to open? Are they in Yahoo mail, Hotmail, or Gmail? Or are you trying to open them in Outlook Express?
    Also you said you have a problem confirming the account you used to write a question, do you mean you have this problem with the '''njennings''' account or another one?

    When I click on the email icon on the dock it does not open nor does the icon read the numbers of mail I have in my inbox like it use to. I have checked the conection doctor and both the server and AOL buttons are green. How do I fix this where I can recieve emails and read them again?

    - Try resetting the iPod.  Nothing will be lost.
    Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If that doe not work try accessing the account from the web or some other place to see if there is an undeliverable message or something else that is causing the problem.

    Try a soft reset, press and hold both power and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears, about 15 seconds, then release both. If still no joy, go into Settings>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If still no joy, back up your iPod to your computer then do a Restore to Backup, if that doesn't work Restore to new through iTunes. If a full restore to new does not work, you may have a hardware issue, contact Apple Genius Bar to have your iPod evaluated. Good luck, Cheers.

    You can not merge accounts.
    Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them.

Maybe you are looking for
