Logging settings via CF Admin API

G'day
I've never needed to use the CF Administrator API before
today. Strange
but true.
So I'm taking a look at it. The implementation seems
incomplete, unless
I'm missing something (entirely likely: the docs are a bit
light-weight).
Is there any way to access the functionality of the "Log
Files" page via
the API?
Also, is there any way of persisting the authenticated
administrator object
(CFIDE.adminapi.administrator), rather than having to
recreate it each... I
presume... session? I'd like to have the authentication done
once at
application start-up, then persisted for subsequent usage by
Admin
API-calling code.
I'm tying to avoid storing the pwd in a template, and the
nature of what I
want to do is such that I cannot have someone enter the pwd
every time I
need the code to run.
I was kind of expecting to ceeate an authentication object
that I then pass
to methods needing authentication. Not having it session
based (which
seems wrong for API-driven access to the Administrator).
Basically what I'm trying to do is to have a scheduled task
archive a log
file (as per pressing the "Archive log file" button on the
logfile listing)
should certain circumstances occur. I could mess around with
CFFILE and
what not and DIY easily enough, but I was kind of expecting
not to have to
reinvent the wheel.
Any guidance, thoughts or observations welcomed.
Cheers.
Adam

Hi,
If it were me, I'd write a remote proxy CFC that marshals
calls to the admin API. This way you could easily add a security
layer to this proxy CFC.
Although the API way is probably cleanest, from an admin
point of view, you might prefer to work with exporting the
configuration XML files?
This could avoid a) writing the AIR app and b) tracking when
a remote service isn't available to call the CFIDE API? This could
cause you major headaches!
Good luck.

  • Setting IIS W3C Extended Log File settings via command line, registry or configuration file

    I am currently in need of a way to set IIS W3C Extended Log File settings via command line, registry or configuration file.  More specifically the 'Bytes Sent (sc-bytes)' and 'Bytes Received (cs-bytes)' settings that are not enabled by default.
    If anyone knows where I can locate these setting (outside of the GUI) for all IIS versions that would be greatly appreciated.

    I believe I have found a valid solution. You must have the WebAdministration module loaded.  I hope this helps someone.
    Use the following syntax to view current W3C fields:
    Get-WebConfiguration -filter system.applicationhost/sites/sitedefaults/logfile | select-object -expandProperty logExtFileFlags
    Use the following syntax to set W3C fields:
    Set-WebConfigurationProperty -Filter System.Applicationhost/Sites/SiteDefaults/logfile -Name LogExtFileFlags -Value "Date,Time,ClientIP,UserName,SiteName,ComputerName,ServerIP,Method,UriStem,UriQuery,HttpStatus,Win32Status,BytesSent,BytesRecv,TimeTaken,ServerPort,UserAgent,Cookie,Referer,ProtocolVersion,Host,HttpSubStatus"}

    Is there any work going on to provide the equivalent of the admin api via

    Johan,
    Yes, there is a effort taking place in this area. No official release dates

  • Accessing the Admin API via Linux (and hopefully Python)

    I have been looking through the available documentation and past forum
    entries but I see nothing really on point.
    It is possible to have a complete GW system on Linux, from server to
    client. So if it is possible to administer a GW system from Linux using
    Console One, it should be possible to access the API from Linux.
    Can anyone point me towards the appropriate documentaion? Thanks

    All a matter of resources, Bob. They've had an admin api under
    development for years, just didn't have time to make it ready for Bonsai.
    You are correct, however you must have a win32 box (or try wine, but I
    doubt that's worth it). One friend of mine then wrappered the whole
    thing in a SOAP service, so he could mostly avoid thinking about windows.

  • Coldfusion admin api via web services?

    Hi There,
    I'm looking ti access the coldfusion admin api using web
    services, but not from coldfusion so I cant use the normal
    createObject("component","cfide.adminapi.administrator").login("admin");
    I've tried using SOAP to request the login method at
    http://mydomain.com/cfide/adminapi/administrator.cfc?wsdl
    but the request fails as coldfusion returns the login dialog (as it
    does if you try to access the WSDL from a browser.
    Does anyone know if it's possible to login and access the
    CFIDE through standard SOAP calls rather than just through
    coldfusion and how I might go about it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

    You can't invoke such admin components as a web service. Even
    if you could it wouldn't work.
    You can only call a method in a component as a webservice if
    its access is
    remote. However, the methods of the system components
    /cfide/adminapi/administrator.cfc, /cfide/adminapi/datasource.cfc,
    etc. have either
    public or
    package access. Verify this by running, for example,
    <cfscript>
    adminObj =
    createObject("component","cfide.adminapi.administrator");
    adminObj.login("your_admin_password");
    </cfscript>
    <cfdump var="#adminObj#">

  • Domain users cannot connect to the network folders when logged in via rds remote apps

    Hi,
    recently I setup an RDS farm for remote apps on server 2012 r2.
    all users can connect to the apps published. no problems there.
    but when users connect via rds they cannot connect to the networkfolders and cannot store the resultance of there work (docx and xlsx files)
    all users are normally connected to the networkfolders using a small login batch file handing down the unc path needed. when I log in as domain admin, also using a login batch, connections are setup correctly. It seems to me to be an security issue on the
    rds session host.
    how to alter this?

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    We use WMI to communicate with the RDSH server. Various issues can cause WMI to deny access or return error codes. Here's a few things you can try:
    1.  Check if the "TS Web Access Computers" security group on the RDSH server has incorrect permissions in DCOM and/or WMI:
       For checking DCOM security settings:
       1. Start the Component Services MMC snapin
       2. Navigate to Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer
       3. Right-click on My Computer and select properties
       4. Go to the COM Security tab
       5. Under Access Permissions, click the Edit Limits button
       6. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list, with all of the permissions set to “allow”.
       7. Under Launch and Activation Permissions, click the Edit Limits button
       8. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list, with all of the permissions set to “allow”.
       For checking WMI security settings:
       1. Start the WMI Control MMC snapin
       2. Right-click the WMI Control node and select properties
       3. Go to the Security tab
       4. Navigate to Root->CIMV2->TerminalServices
       5. With TerminalServices selected, click the Security button
       6. Ensure that TS Web Access Computers is in the list with Execute Methods, Enable Account, and Remote Enable set to "allow"
    2.  Verify the RD Session Host server's firewall allows WMI calls.
    3. Verify that the RD Connection Broker hasn't lost its trust relationship with the domain.
    4. See if non-RDS related WMI calls can be successfully made to the RDSH server. This can help differentiate between a general WMI issue and an issue calling the RDS WMI provider.

  • Unable to use Datasource.cfc in Admin API - The current user is not authorized to invoke this method

    Hi Everyone,
    I am having some issues accessing the methods in the datasource.cfc in the adminAPI.
    I can successfully load the administrator CFC and am told that I have successsfuly logged in;
    But when I try to subsequently load the datasource.cfc I get an error that the current user is unable to access the method.
    /* Create an Admin API object and call the login method */
                                                      var local = {};
Obj = createObject("component", "cfide.adminapi.administrator");
                                                      /* Enter your password for the CF Admin */
      /* if you dump this - TRUE is returned */
Obj.login(adminPassword="my_admin_user_password");
                                                      /* Create an object of datasource component */
Obj = createObject("component", "cfide.adminapi.datasource");
      writeDump(local.dsnObj.getDataSources());
    I tried creating separate admin users and passwords - yhinking that perhaps a revent hotfix had stopped the "admin" user from being allowed to use the adminAPI - but changing to a new adminuser yielded the same results.
    I could login to the admin API with the new username and passsword - but could not access the datasource.cfc after that.
    Here is the debug output from the error...

    and I agree I don't have "E" drive either!

    I've found a solution to my plight - I don't know if it'll work for you or help you try something that MAY fix it.
    I use a common code set which includes the Application.cfc from a CF Mapping - So, in the application.cfc in the actual website I do this:-
    <cfinclude template="/UberDirectory/Application.cfc">
    Then, in the /UberDirectory/Application.cfc, I was initialising a CFC which checks if the datasource was created for the website. The datasource checking code attempts to log into the Admin API and check & create if necessary the datasource.
    This has previously worked without fail for me - But in this instance it failed!! I was doing two things wrong - Firstly, the CFC should only be called in the Application.cfc in the onRequestStart section as the Application had to be initialised first - This is maybe because I've invoked the application.cfc in a "non-standard" manner.
    Secondly, once I'd moved the CFC invocation into oNRequestStart I saw the following error:-
    The string COOKIE.CFAUTHORIZATION_uber-directory is not a valid ColdFusion variable name.
    I had this as the app name .... <cfset this.name = 'uber-directory'>
    Changedthe dash to an underscore and I was away and could once again check the datasources
    Hope it helps

  • How can I get the language of the user logged on using only DI API?

    Hello,
    how can I get the language of the user logged on using only DI API,
    without invoking the UI?
    Can I read the value from some table using sql?
    I could write to file the first user's connection to the language code in SAP and then use it from external program, but I do not like this solution ...
    I know only this possibility:
            '_SboCy ==> SAPbobsCOM.Company
            '_SboCys ==> SAPbobsCOM.CompanyService
            '_SboApp ==> SAPbouiCOM.Application
            CodLng Dim As String = ""
            Dim lng As SAPbobsCOM.UserLanguages _SboCy.GetBusinessObject = (BoObjectTypes.oUserLanguages)
            If lng.GetByKey (_SboApp.Language) Then
                codLng = lng.LanguageShortName
                'Etc. ..
            End If
            lng = Nothing
    Thanks

    Hi Enrico,
    The language settings are held on the user's Windows profile and not in the database. In SBO 2007A onwards there is an XML file that is created by the SBO client (previous versions stored the information in the registry). The file is called b1-current-user.xml and you'll find it in the temporary application data under the user's profile (by default this will be C:\Documents and Settings\<profile>\Local Settings\Application Data\SAP\SAP Business One for Windows XP). This XML file contains a node that looks like the following:
    <leaf kind="single" name="Language" type="String">
         <value>8</value>
    </leaf>
    where the value is the language id that should correspond to the same setting in the DI API. If your application will always run on a workstation where the SBO client is installed then you could read this XML file. Of course, this file may not exist for a particular Windows user if they have never opened the SBO client so you'd need to have a default setting.
    If you application will be installed on a workstation which doesn't have an SBO client installed on it then there is no way to tell what default language to use and you'll need to build this logic in to your own application (eg have a screen where the user can choose their preferred langauge and then store this as a config file in a similar way to how the SBO client works).
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Enabling Profiling for deployments via the REST API

    We have an application which is being deployed via the REST API. Our logging has captured some errors related to memory consumption that we'd like to examine using profiling. All the examples of profiling in Azure that I can find discuss deployment via Visual
    Studio which is not feasible in this instance.
    Is there a way to enable profiling via the REST API and if so are there any examples or documentation for this? We're using Linq2Azure to access the APIs but we can extend it if necessary.
    Thanks
    Colin

    Hi,
    Yes, we can choose enable profiling when we publish an application via visual studio, from my experience, this feature was provided by using the Visual Studio profiler, if we didn’t use visual studio to deploy the application, it is hard to enable profiling.
    Refer to

  • ActiveX UAC and Proxy Settings via GPO

    Hi there,
    Wondering if anyone can help.
    I am experiencing the following issue when trying to load ActiveX control without UAC prompts for standard users.
    I have:
    Configured ActiveXInstaller Service and configured allowed sites and settings via GPO.
    Configured IE Security settings for the Trusted Zone to Allow ActiveX content to run via GPO.
    Configured IE to use per user proxy settings via GPO.
    Allowed the domain in our proxy and bypassed authentication for that domain.
    Everything seems to be in place but I receive a UAC prompt for the Internet Explorer Add-on Installer UNLESS I either turn off the IE proxy  settings or add the domain to the IE proxy exclusions list.
    Unfortunately neither of these are options in our environment..
    Anything I've missed?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Before going further, what's the operating systems you are using? How did you configure
    approved Installation Sites for ActiveX Controls and Active X installation policy for sites in Trusted zones settings?
    Regarding how to configure these two settings, we can refer to the following article for double check.
    Administering the ActiveX Installer Service in Windows 7
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd631688(v=ws.10).aspx
    Besides, we can also run command gpresult/h gpreport.html with admin privileges to collect group policy result report to check if the policy settings are applied correctly.

  • 0x80070005 when trying to push Registry Settings via GPP on 2008R2 Servers

    Hello,
    I'm trying to push registry settings via Group Policy Preferences to a group of Windows Server 2008 R2 to set dynamic RPC ports range, but I keep getting an error 0x80070005 Access is denied
    The Registry Settings I need to push are these
    Ports (REG_MULTI_SZ) 49150-49200
    PortsInternetAvailable (REG_SZ) Y
    UseInternetPorts (REG_SZ) Y
    these settings are part of a GPO which gets applied to the computers without problem. Only the registry part fails:
    The computer 'Ports' preference item in the 'SQLServerGPOV {A9BB3E68-6275-44BC-A982-E6F8B3B02C26}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied.' This error was suppressed.
    The computer 'PortsInternetAvailable' preference item in the 'SQLServerGPOV {A9BB3E68-6275-44BC-A982-E6F8B3B02C26}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied.' This error was suppressed.
    The computer 'UseInternetPorts' preference item in the 'SQLServerGPOV {A9BB3E68-6275-44BC-A982-E6F8B3B02C26}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied.' This error was suppressed.
    Security filtering is set to Authenticated Users and Domain Computers like other GPOs
    I have tried Diagnostic group policy logging, but I do not see the reason of this error. Log is on pastebin HERE
    Any help appreciated. Thanks

    > Ports (REG_MULTI_SZ)    49150-49200

    > UseInternetPorts (REG_SZ)    Y
    What's the parent key of these values? And what ACLs are set on this
    parent key?
    Even SYSTEM does NOT have write access to all parts of the registry...

  • Set Word 2013 Track Changes settings via Registry edits or Group Policy?

    Hi
    Would anyone know if there is a way of changing Track Changes settings via registry edits or Group Policy (e.g. changing Simple Markup All Markup)? I've had a look in Group Policy Admin Templates and the Registry but cant see relevant
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    The All Markup/Simple Markup selection is controlled by the RevModeShowSimpleMarkup value within the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Options
    The value is 0 (zero) for All Markup or 1 (one) for Simple Markup.
    If we close all Word instances, and change the value to 1, then start Word, the All Markup option should be selected.
    In addition, some track change settings can also be controlled by the GPO settings in the following location:
    Administrative Templates > Microsoft Word 2013 > Word Options > Track changes and compare
    If you still need further assistance on this issue, please feel free to let me know.

  • FMS Admin APIs help

    Hi,
            I am building an FMS admin application. I have one application at FMS server "ChatManager". Clients (swf) connect to this ChatManager application (FMS) and Chat, video Audio conference.  All applications are fine and working perfect.
    Now I need to build a admin application, to overview and maintain the chat sessions. In this application, one will view the chats and particular video streams, disconnect the users, send a message to a particular user.
    ChatManager : A custom FMS server side application developed by us.
    I don't want to write any code in FMS server side application  "ChatManager". Just want to implement every functionality by using FMS Admin APIs.
    So, can anyone tell me the FMS admin apis for
    >> Disconnect a particular user,
    >> Call a function at FMS server side application (as defined in "chatManager")
    >> Call a function defined at user end (in connected users swf).
    >> Send message to a particular user.
    >> Access the server side sharedObjects.
    Looking forward for your help.
    Thanks,
    Amit

    The admin console uses debug connections to the app instances to read shared object data... that feature doesn't use methods of the admin service to actually fetch the data.
    As for invoking an SSAS method via the admin service, I don't know of any way to do it. Is there any particular reason why you can't connect directly to the application to invoke the method?
