Set Word 2013 Track Changes settings via Registry edits or Group Policy?

Hi
Would anyone know if there is a way of changing Track Changes settings via registry edits or Group Policy (e.g. changing Simple Markup All Markup)? I've had a look in Group Policy Admin Templates and the Registry but cant see relevant
Thanks!

Hi,
The All Markup/Simple Markup selection is controlled by the RevModeShowSimpleMarkup value within the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Options
The value is 0 (zero) for All Markup or 1 (one) for Simple Markup.
If we close all Word instances, and change the value to 1, then start Word, the All Markup option should be selected.
In addition, some track change settings can also be controlled by the GPO settings in the following location:
Administrative Templates > Microsoft Word 2013 > Word Options > Track changes and compare
If you still need further assistance on this issue, please feel free to let me know.

  • Windows 7 automatic computer maintenance - Registry edit for group policy?

A lot of folks at my company have broken desktop shortcuts (refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978980 for the issue)  and I want to edit the group policy so we can turn off scheduled computer maintenance for everyone.  Is there a specific
    registry location for this change?
    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

Not sure how to disable shorcut cleanup portion. Here is what it does
Broken shortcuts - Broken shortcuts are invalid references to programs and other resources. For example, a desktop shortcut for a USB device may be regarded as broken if the USB device is not connected when the System Maintenance troubleshooter
performs its maintenance. When there are more than 4 broken shortcuts on the desktop, then all broken shortcuts on the desktop are removed.
Troubleshooting history is taking up disk space - Frees up disk space by removing troubleshooting history logs older than 1 month.
System time is incorrectly set - Sets the correct system time and synchronize system clock with the time server. When the system time is set incorrectly, features that rely on time measurement such as Product Activation, malware scanners,
browser certificates, etc... might not work correctly.
Unused desktop icons - Icons and shortcuts on the desktop that have been unused in 3 months are removed.
Disk volume errors - Frees up disk space by repairing hard disk volume errors such as bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files and directory errors. These problems can cause the file system to report incorrect volume details and occupy
    excessive disk space.
Error reports are taking up disk space - Frees up disk space by removing error reports and logs older than 1 month.

  • Word 2013 Track Changes Not Showing New Author Changes

The .doc file has multiple comments, deletions and changes (all showing in bubbles) but when the author makes any new changes, the bubble fails to appear and the text remains in blue. If the same author deletes the text moments later in the same session,
with or without save, the bubble appears saying that the author made a deletion. There are also a few occurrences of past changes having a redline without the bubble. All files are local to a machine added to a domain with a domain user. I am unsure of the
Word version that created the file as it was emailed from another company. I've tried copying and pasting to a new format/same format and saving into a new format (.docx.) Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Cory

Our office has been struggling with a related problem that maybe you can solve. Basically, the same person is repeatedly given a different reviewer name as they work in a document (presumably every time the document is autosaved). For example, if I work
for an hour adding edits or comments on a document by the time I'm ready to share it it will look like five different people made changes.
The Inspect Document fix works great to remove all the extra reviewer names, but it changes them all to 'Author'. Do you know how to then either a) change 'Author' to the reviewer's actual name or b) stop Office from assigning multiple names to the same
reviewer. Also, we've tried checking 'Always use these values regardless of sign in' under General to no avail.
Thanks - your fix is the closest we've come to a solution and it's greatly appreciated.

  • Copy text from word without track changes

    Version: Word 14.0.6129.5000 32 bit
    OS: Win 7
    Hi -
We receive tons of word-documents to our newspaper, and many of these are copied and pasted into incopy. Some of the editors also use track changes in word heavily.
The ordinary ctrl+a ctrl+c ctrl-v copies track-changes-info. (This also apply if we copy to notepad etc.)
Is there an easy way to copy just the text without all the track chages-info, just the final text?
This is a big problem for us, and I haven't found a quick and easy solution on the web.
    Regards -
    Johannes
    (Sorry for bad english)

    Hi Hans,
I just retested this Copy/Paste of Tracked Changes and Comments under Word 2011 for the Mac and Word 2010 for the PC. The results vary.
Regarding the PC with 2010 version.
Regardless of the Show Tracking settings in the Source document, the tracked changes DO NOT transfer from the source Word document to the destination Word document.
Regardless of the Show Tracking setting in the Source document, comments ALWAYS carry over into the destination Word document.
In all cases, source document tracked changes ALWAYS transfer to Note documents.
Paste Unformatted DOES NOT eliminate the tracked changes and comments when pasting to a Word destination document
Regarding Word 2011 on the Mac
Regardless of the Show Tracking settings in the source document, the tracked changes DO NOT transfer from the source Word document to the destination Word document.
Regardless of the Show Tracking setting in the Source document, comments ALWAYS carry over to the destination Word document.
In all cases, source document tracked changes DO NOT transfer to Text (txt) documents.
Paste Unformatted ALWAYS eliminates the tracked changes and comments when pasted into the destination Word document.
On both versions the default settings for Smart Copy/Paste and Cut, Copy, Paste we in effect. All test files where xml formats. (docx)

  • Word doc track changes in RH

i need help working out why all my track changes in a word
doc that i have uploaded to RH, show up!!!!
its a real mess. the changes have been accepted so the word
doc is clean but then they all show up in RH.
    any ideas?

I don't want to revise the document after track changes. My point is; when I finished my track changes and sent the document off for the other person to see the changes I have made, they can't see any markings, just the revised text (that had been changed
via track changes) It automatically changes without anyone excepting any changes I have made.

  • Feature Request: support for Word's Track Changes feature

I love the iPad and Pages lets my wife and I use it to some extent for our jobs. However, the most useful feature for me in a document reader/creator would be the ability to track changes and have it be compatible with Word. I am a college professor, and I use this feature almost daily when grading student papers. If this were available on the iPad version of Pages, I could truly leave the laptop at home.

Why would it need to be compatible with Word? Why not use Pages' Track Changes feature and print the final version, with the comments and markup visible, to PDF? This is what I do. And it works just fine. I get a student once in a while who doesn't have Adobe Reader installed, but I have a FAQ item for that in the online course shell.

  • Word Documents Tracked Changes

    Hi guys,
i just got my ipad. Is there any way to see tracked changes in word documents?
Its seems like documents to go can do this? Just wondering if any one is able to validate this.

Update. From the MacWorld Pages review:
"One extremely important note here: if you receive Word or Pages documents that contain tracked changes or comments, you’ll need to avoid Pages for iPad. Imported documents lose all comments and Pages for iPad automatically accepts any tracked changes. For me, this is a problem I can’t work around."
So as of this date, no. Maybe in a future release.

  • How do I set firefox as the default browser in Windows Server 2012 Group Policy Editor?

Hello, I am unable to set firefox as the default browser despite multiple different attempts to do so using group policy.
    I have:
    - Set a registry command (targeted at 32/64 via a WMI query) to reset the opening command as shown below:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\http\shell\open\command
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -osint -url "%1"
    - Set a powershell logon script to run (that does run):
    firefox.exe -silent -setDefaultBrowser
Despite setting the above it seems the client computers browsers are not affected by the settings above. When the script runs or if I run the command above a UAC window pops up and requests that I accept the command (for the setDefaultBrowser) but even if I click yes as an administrator it does nothing.
Since GPO in 2012 has changed perhaps there is something that I am missing? Do I need to somehow disable Windows Internet Explorer from achieving default browser status?
Please do not reply if you will suggest that I use Internet Explorer Maintenance (since this function in GPO has been disabled since IE10)
My DC is Server 2012, my client computers are Win7 32/64.

The above reply does not take into account that I am trying to use GROUP POLICY EDITOR to make it the default browser.

  • Don't have proper privilege to change the date and time. Group Policy does not work

    Hello All,
I have configure group policy to change date and time only administrator. The problem is Windows XP machine cannot view the calendar but windows 7 can. So i need to view the calender for windows XP machine.
Error: you do not have proper privilege to change the date and time.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

    Hi Parvez,
    Before going further:
I applied a VM Windows XP pro. When I logged in as a local admin, I can view the calendar from the right corner of desktop or from control
panel. However, when I logged in as a normal user account, I received the same message as yours.
    For now:
I know this is not what you want. However, for normal users to view calendar, we can consider to give
Change System Time permissions to these users.

  • Remote Registry enabled through Group Policy

I am working in a Win2011 SBS environment and trying to enable services (Automatic) through Group Policy on all workstations in the domain. I need the following settings enabled but not sure how to do it in SBS.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Policies for Windows Services
Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > System Services
     Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
     Startup Type: Automatic
     Remote Registry
     Startup Type: Automatic
     Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
     Startup Type: Automatic
    Paul J. Page

    Hi,
It should be quite similar to other OS.
(Note: RPC services & WMI Service should be started by default. Remote Registry is manual and not started by default.)
    Policy Configuration :
I would start with Creating a New GPO with the name "Automatic Service Policy"
After that follow the default steps
    http://www.grouppolicy.biz/2010/08/how-to-use-group-policy-to-control-services/
Do forget to Link the policy
    Gpupdate / force
I am sure this will work.

  • Delete only 1 Auto-Complete email address for everyone's email accounts - perhaps via Exchange 2010 or Group Policy?

    Hello
I have an exchange 2010 server and clients use outlook 2007 or 2010 for emails.
I recently deleted an account with the Exchange 2010 server and created another with the same name but a different address.
Now people can't send mail to this new email address because it's cached on their outlook profiles... but it does work after they cleared the cache and send their requests then.
Is there a way that I can clear this one email address from everyone's cached auto-complete list on exhcange or via Group Policy so that it works for all of them? I don't want to clear all of their auto-complete lists.
    Thanks,

As far as I know, there isn't any way to clear only one auto-complete cache from Exchange side or Group policy.
    Thanks,
    Evan

  • Outlook 2013 Programmatic Security Settings via Group Policy

I am in a domain environment and have deployed Office E3 via Shared Computer Activation on an RDS.
Outlook functions correctly in online mode.
When 3rd party software (such as ZetaDocs) attempts to access any Outlook feature (such as sending or address books) a prompt message is displayed - "A program is trying to access e-mail address information stored in Outlook...Allow access
    for...".
I am able to change the Programmatic security settings to disable the prompt in Outlook by starting it as an Administrator.
I have tried to do this the 'correct' way using the Office 2013 ADMX GPO templates. The created policy is linked to the OU containing the RDS server.
gpresult and rsop shows no sign of the policy being implemented after a gpupdate /force.
Any ideas as to what is going wrong?

Make sure you have the correct adm:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2426686
The feature you probably want to disable is the
RPC/HTTP Connection Flags and set to None or 0. You'll have to test that out.

  • Word 2013 Not Saving Settings

Running Word (Office) 2013 with Windows 7 64-bit.
It will not save any of the changes we make within Word itself. I am aware of the Normal file and have tried wiping that away to force Word to regenerate a new one, and it still does the same thing.
Couple of examples: I can go into Word Options, enable the developer tab, disable the "Welcome" splash screen and turn on a ruler. It all works until I close Word, then all of the settings go right back to the way they were before. Every time the
PC restarts for Windows Update or any other reason, all created macros are lost and provided with an error that says "Normal.dotm is in use by another person".

"Normal.dotm is in use by another person".
Are you sharing normal.dot between users? If this is the case, then please note that this is not the way to use normal.dot. Normal.dot is an individual user file.
This could also be due to some add-in problem. I'd suggest you disable each Word add-in one at a time in order to determine which one is causing the warning message.
You can do this in: FILE>Options>Add-Ins, in the Manage list, click
COM Add-Ins, and then click Go. Uncheck one of the add-ins in the list and click
    OK.
