Logic Pro X Trouble Interfacing with M-Audio Axiom 49

The Axiom 49 shows up in the track listing and visually indicates a signal, but does not make sound. I was, however, able to get the Axiom to make sound in Ableton Live.
Most significantly perhaps, the 'Instrument' button on the Axiom does not light up.
I have had two different audio engineers look at this problem and both were baffled.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I will never spend another nickel on either M-Audio or anything from Avid. Their level of disdain for their customers who pay good money for their gear is unconscionable. Maybe I've been spoiled by Apple and other vendors. The Axiom Pro was not cheap and for them to abandon its support so quickly is like a slap in the face.
In short, I am with you, Fibrechannel. I have to write-off M-Audio on the basis of the old adage... "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
Frustrating beyond reason.

I know the two interfaces have synced, but I just can't seem to pull up more than 10 tracks in the input channel drop down. If any one has any idea , I would love to hear about it.

CCTM, Hello my friend, I wanted to thank you for your support with this issue, Your screen shots, and the tricks and tips book I have helped me set up the aggregate device, I now have 20 inputs and 20 outputs as it should be.

I'm not sure I follow your words Fuzzynormal. You've helped by offering the insight that my issue in Logic Pro 9 is not a bug but a feature. But fell short of enlightenment by being a judge of character and of how one should interact in this forum. You insinuate that I haven't tried to solve the issue on my own when in fact I have. These forums are always my last resort. You further suggest that I am complaining. This is not a complaint. It is a genuine issue that I cannot figure out. Then you think that Brazeca is holding my hand and being a nice guy. Brazeca is helping people like me who might not be as adept at using Logic Pro as probably you are. This community forum was established to raise questions, answers and dicussion to help Apple's customers better undertand their operating systems and related issues. How do I get Logic Pro X to see my USB audio interface Steinberg UR22? It saw it once before but now it doesn't. In preferences it doesn't appear as an input device option. Help!

I updated to OS X Mavericks and now trying to run Logic Pro X on a MacBook Pro mid-2009, using an M-Audio Axiom 49 and an M-Audio Fast Track Pro... Logic keeps telling me that Mac OS X MIDI Services are not available... How do I solve this problem?

I just checked to see if the update to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 solved any of the issues outlined in my previous post, and to my dismay, nothing has changed -- all of the previous problems persist.
My iMac (8) -- it's renamed itself eight times since the recent troubleshoot with the Apple tech rep -- shows up as a shared device in Finder on my MacBook Pro, but when I click on it, I cannot establish a connection using "Connect As".  So I've attempted to connect using the menu "Go/Connect to Server...", using both (alternately) the iMac's name and IP address, to no avail.  I get a message which reads: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'Peter's iMac (8)'. This server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time.  Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
    Here's what I know:
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) does exist;
    The server -- Peter's iMac (8) is available at this time;
    The server name -- Peter's iMac (8) -- is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
    The server IP address is correct, as specified in the system sharing preferences;
The network connection is active when I attempt to connect.
I'm convinced the problems stem directly from the OS X Yosemite update.  None of this was ever remotely an issue in the previous OS X's -- any of them.  This is maddening!  What can be done?  Apple?? Anyone???

  • Logic Pro 9 visual glitches with Mavericks update

    Hi Guys,
I updated to Mavericks on the day of it's release. I'm running Logic Pro (9.1.6) and everytime I hit play I now get these black blocks that follow my playhead. amongst other smaller visual glitches like midi notes appearing in the arrange window rather than the piano roll... I'm not totally convinced this is anything to do with Logic Pro 9's compatibility with Mavericks however the problems only started since the installation.
    Any ideas?

I'm rnning Logic 8.0.2 and i am also  having this issue. also my Mbox 2 Mini is not working (i know it's not the best interface anyway, but  still.

  • What's the best Mac to run Logic Pro 9 and above with no issues

What's the best Mac to run Logic Pro 9 and above with no issues?

Any Mac that can happily run OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Logic Pro 9.1.5.....
Note: Newer Macs cannot run Snow Leopard because SL doesn't provide hardware support for the newer hardware found in these newer Macs....
Next best combo for newer Macs is Mavericks 10.9.5 and Logic Pro 9.1.8... but it is nowhere near as efficient a combo as the previous one mentioned...

  • Yamaha MO8 and Korg Volcas with Logic Pro X- recommendations for mixer and audio interface

I plan to use Logic Pro X to access and configure the patch list for my Yamaha MO8 workstation. The Steinberg software I downloaded previously didn't work and never allowed me to configure the sounds. From what I've heard, I was told to use a cheap mixer or a Audio/MIDI interface (like the Scarlett 2i2 or 4i4). The Yamaha MO8 will be used as a master and has MIDI IN, OUT, and THRU. I also have the Korg Volca synths to use as slaves (they only have the MIDI IN port), and plan to connect them to the MIDI THRU on the keyboard. I already have the Yamaha USB driver installed, and the Mac recognizes the device. I also have the Portmidi app and wonder if that will allow me to see the patch list (with the actual names, not numbers).
What mixer and audio/MIDI interface do you recommend to use the Yamaha MO8 and the Korg Volcas? Just to be clear, I don't want to use software synths, but would like to use the external instruments to get the audio (which I know can be selected through the Environment Panel on Logic Pro X).

Anything with 2 audio inputs and 2 MIDI outs.
-Out HP jack of Volca-1/8 to 1/4 adapter into Audio interface 1 (For any that are stereo use both 1 and 2 and use a Y splitter in addition to 1/8 to 1/4 adapters.
-Midi out from interface to Midi in of volca (Or buy a USB to MIDI interface for about $35)
-When starting up the volcas hold down the "Memory button" the LED will tell you what MIDI channel it is set to, you can change it if you wish)
-Create external MIDI track and set it to the same channel as the Volca (Only if you want to do sequencing in the DAW, if thee Volca sequencer is handling it then not necessary)
-Patch together the Volcas via the "synch out/Synch in" jacks to insure they are synched
-Record them all together or one at a time, depending on how many simultaneous tracks your interface can handle.

  • Logic Pro 8 and nio 2/4 Audio Interface microphone input

I am new to using macs and have purchased a mac mini. I have fully installed Logic Pro and have nio 2/4 as my input for music via a microphone. Logic finds nio compatable but I cannot however get Logic to recognise the microphone as an input for recording. Logic does not also generate the microphones sounds ie when spoken into in real time. I know the solution is probably very simple but I haven't got a clue where to start in changing the settings ie on the mac and on logic. any help would be much appreciated

Open Logic, go to Preferences>Audio>Devices>Core Audio and select the nio as the Core Audio device.
I assume you have the mic plugged in to the nio?
Does it indicate that it gets a signal from the microphone?
The Mac will not 'recognise' the microphone, as it will not recognise anything plugged into the analog inputs of the nio - it will only recognise the nio itself. You have to assign in- and outputs to you tracks in Logic. So if the mic is plugged into input 2, you'll have to select that input on the track you want to record it on.

  • Logic Pro 8 and Delta 1010 random audio stuttering

Since installing Logic Pro 8, I have two problems which I suspect may be related:
    1. Launching Logic will sometimes freeze my Mac and bring up that familiar screen that says I must immediately restart. This seems random, happening maybe one time out of 7 or 8.

2. The other problem is that launching Logic 8 sometimes results in apparent misbehavior by my PCI audio card, a Delta 1010. In such cases, I will immediately hear something that sounds like very loud white noise coming out of the audio interface and into my mixer, but with a rapid stutter (confirmed by the VU meters on the Delta control panel, which vibrate like they're having a seizure). Nothing seems to stop the noise, except quitting Logic and restarting the Mac. This misbehavior seems quite random and there's nothing I've been able to do to track it down or make it repeatable -- all I can do is quit Logic, restart, and hope that this time it works. Fortunately, if I can finally get Logic 8 launched without the noise factor, it runs fine and virtually never crashes.
Anyone have any similar problem or ideas about the cause? I'm thinking about replacing the Delta 1010 with a new Firewire audio interface, in anticipation of buying a new Mac later this year. But I don't want to do it now if it's not the 1010's fault.
(Details: I am using the latest driver for the Delta 1010, downloaded from M-Audio's web site; the latest version of Logic 8 (8.0.1); and Mac OSX 10.4.11. I've got this all running on an older Mac, a G4 Dual 1.25 with 2 GIGS Ram. I've got the Delta 1010 selected as the default input and output in Audio MIDI setup, using the Mac built-in output only for the System Output. None of these issues were happening with Logic 7, and I haven't changed anything since then, except for installing Logic 8 and gradual Tiger upgrades. I also seem to have no problems using the Delta 1010 with Final Cut Pro. I suppose the possibilities are: incompatibility with Logic 8 and some other software, the Delta 1010 card is going bad, an issue with other connected peripherals (USB hub, Firewire Hub, Edirol UM-550), bad ram... or something else?)

    Hi,
There are two things to bear in mind here.
    1) In my experience, it takes a little longer for the driver to kick in after boot up, so wait a minute before launching Logic.
    2) I recently reinstalled the 10.4.10 driver on my friend's Mac (same config as yours) and it now works as it should.
    Best Wishes

  • Does Logic Pro X actually work with the Roland VS-20?

Hi all.  According to the support docs, the Roland VS-20 should work with Logic Pro X.  I've installed the latest drivers, the latest Logic plug-in for the VS-20, and the latest VS-20 Editor.  On occasion (and I have no idea what the magic formula is), I've gotten the controls and audio to work via the VS-20.  However, more often than not, the VS-20 controls (transport controls and faders) do nothing, and playing audio results in a horrible screeching through the VS-20.
A couple of other points of info:
The VS-20 always shows up correctly in the Control Surface and audio settings of Logic Pro X.
The VS-20 works fine in Reaper 4 as well as when only using the VS-20 Editor.
    I'm using Logic Pro X (10.0.3) on a 2012 MBPr w/ 2.6GHz i7 and 16GB RAM
Is anyone out there using this setup successfully?
    Thanks!

Roland was very helpful, even though their solution didn't actually work for me.  I sent them the same info as above, and here was the reply:
We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble. The VS-20 is definitely compatible with Logic Pro X. Be sure that you have setup the VS-20 in Logic Pro X according to the following instructions:
    Audio I/O Setup:
    1.     Select Logic Pro X in the menu bar and navigate to Preferences.
    2.     Click on “Audio...”
    3.     Under the Devices tab, set your Output Device and Input Device to “VS-20 44.1kHz”--if it is not already set.
Note: The sample rate of your Logic Pro X project must be 44.1kHz--as the VS-20 only operates in this sample rate.
    4.     Click “Apply Changes”.
    5.     Close the Preferences menu.
    Control Surface Setup:
    1.     Select Logic Pro in the menu bar and navigate to Preferences.
    2.     Navigate to Control Surfaces and then click on “Setup...” A Setup window will appear.
    3.     Click on “New” and then select “Install…” An Install window will appear.
    4.     Select “Mackie Designs (Manufacturer) / Mackie Control (Model) / Logic Control (Module) and then click “Add”.
Note: If prompted with the message “No new Devices found”, click on “Add Manually”.
    5.     In the Setup window, expand the Mackie Control section and assign both the Out Port and Input Port to “CONTROL”.
Note: If the Setup window does not appear, right-click on the Mackie mixer image and then select “Hide/Show Inspector”.
    6.     Close the Control Surface Install and Setup windows.
The VS-20 is now setup for Logic Pro X.
We hope this information is helpful! Please let us know if this does not resolve your issue and include as much information as possible regarding troubleshooting you have done and results you have received. We are happy to help you.
    Sincerely,
    Roland Product Support
These steps actually resulted in a situation where some of the buttons on the VS-20 triggered sounds instead of their intended functions.  I deleted everything and started over, this time picking the actual VS-20 option in the setup, and everything worked.
I should mention that I also (foolishly?) updated to Mavericks just before getting this to work.

  • Logic Pro no longer works with Firewire 1814 after updating drivers

I was attempting to hook up 2 M-Audio Firewire 1814 units and use them from Logic Pro 7. The older driver I was using would actually crash with this configuration, and so I updated to the latest driver, thinking this might solve the problem.
Well, the M-Audio driver now comes up fine - I can even monitor the signal levels coming from both devices in the associated UI. However, when I launch Logic Pro, I get the following message:
"Logic Pro has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party MIDI or audio drivers."
Although I can arm some of the lower track numbers (I still get this message), I cannot do so with higher track numbers.
Effectively, installing the latest M-Audio driver has broken my version of Logic Pro for whatever reason.
Removing and reinstalling the driver made no difference.
    Any thoughts, anyone??
