Login as sysdba for patch R12 problem

Hi,
I am trying to apply the patch 12.0.3 for R12.
On of the items is to run a script under a SYSDBA user, however I am not able to login as Sysdba, also not the sys user.
The scripts :
SQL> select * from v$pwfile_users;
no rows selected
Seems that my passwordfile is missing ?
Running orapwd gives me the following result :
[root@linux12 bin]# ./orapwd file=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs/orapw password=manager entries=30
Unable to find error file.
Anybody can help me ?

Yes it is ,see :

  • Error while login as sysdba for creating a new db

    Hi DBAs,
i need to create a new database base, so trying to login as sysdba after exporting <ORACLE_SID> and <ORACLE_HOME> and getting the following error, need your help urgently.
    SQL> conn / as sysdba

I am not very sure about the error but it seems to some permission related error on oracle binaries. Can you check those permissions.
Have you created pwd file for db ?

  • Login as sysdba problem...

    Hi,
I've created my own database to make tests on Oracle and directly after that I've changed the passwords for all the users (sys and system users included).
When I try to login without the sysdba role, Oracle applies the password verification fine.
The problem is when I try to login as sysdba:
    $> sqlplus 'sys as sysdba'
I can enter whatever password I want and I'm connected !!!
And it's the same if first I type:
    $> sqlplus /NOLOG
    SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Wed May 7 13:21:44 2003
Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    SQL> connect sys as sysdba
Could someone help me to find where It comes from and how I do solve this security hole...
    Thanks in advance
    Paul

What's the OS? Are you signed on to the OS as a user in > the DBA group?I'm using a Debian 3.0 (Woody) operating system with a Linux 2.4.18 kernel
I've got only one user which is a member of the DBA group and what I experienced, It's true, was only when I was logged as this user...
Does it means that when a user is a member of the DBA group on the operating system, even if the remote_os_authent parameter is set to false, he can login with sys as sysdba as he wants trough sqlplus ?

Hi, I got the problem with Firefox 27.0.1. I can not run Selenium on Firefox after login a website for automation testing. The browser is not responding. However when I close Nunit, the page is back to be normal. The title is returned to the name of website without "not responding". I sure this problem did not happen on Firefox version 26. I just got this problem when firefox upgrading automatically to version 27. Please help me fix this problem because it is very important for my work. If you need more information pls send your concerns via my email address.
    Thanks so much

Hi, the work around suggested above should put you in working mode in the meantime. However to help investigate the issue it is possible to analyze what is not loading or taking a long time by analyzing the network traffic or http headers of the Nunit web page.

We are not using Proxy Server. When i try to login to Support.oracle.com using same user it works. But throwing error using Patch Wizard. Can anyone tell me that why this error is coming ??

Regarding Backup as it is Application Level patch, is it fine if i take Backup of $ORACLE_HOME for Application Tier ?You will have to take a full backup (which means all the application/database tier files -- i.e. all the directories after you shutdown all the services cleanly).
    1. After that I need to 'Enable Maintenance Mode' using adadmin utility
    applmgr>$adadmin
    2. Source Env file for Application Tier
    applmgr>$ . SID_hostname.endYou mean env file.
    3. Stop all Application Services
    applmgr>$ . adstpall.sh
    4. Copy patch to Directory
    5. Unzip
    6. applmgr>$ cd /u01/patch/10629956
    7. After that apply patch using adpatch utility
    applmgr>$ adpatch
    8. Disable Maintenance Mode
    9. Start Application Tier Services
    10. Retest Correct.
Can I follow these steps ? Yes.
By default value of parameter "apply" is "y" so does it apply patch intest mode? I nned to specify it to "n" or should i test it first as i m doing this first time. You do not need to test it if you take a backup, and this is a small patch so you should be OK :)
If in case anything goes wrong can I restore my Application Services back using old Oracle_Home backup ?Yes.
Note: Please edit the post before the previous one as it contains the contents of MOS document and this violates Oracle support agreement policy.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Is it mandatory to install patch 124861-15  for Applications R12

    Hi,
In pre-requisites it is says to install 124861-15 patch for Solaris R12.1.1
By the way we are upgrading from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3 with 11gR2
But for some reason out OS admin is not ablt to install. And he reckons that if we have sun studio 12, it should be enough.
Could any one please let me know if it is mandatory to install 124861-15, or can i just leave to sun studio 12.
    Thanks

    Hi,
In pre-requisites it is says to install 124861-15 patch for Solaris R12.1.1This patch is required for 11gR2 database.
But for some reason out OS admin is not ablt to install. And he reckons that if we have sun studio 12, it should be enough.I believe you need this patch and documentation also says so.Ask unix admin to log call with Oracle support for this(as solaris is now under MOS).
Could any one please let me know if it is mandatory to install 124861-15, or can i just leave to sun studio 12.You need this patch. If you will not apply this patch then OUI will fail while checking pre-req during db installation.
Please check below MOS for same:-

  • During R12 upgrade adworker for patch u6678700.drv fails for afopp002.sql

    Hi Experts,
During R12.1.1 upgrade from 11.5.10.2 adworker for patch u6678700.drv fails for afopp002.sql
The exact error being faced is
    sqlplus -s APPS/***** @/u03/oracle/CRP1PROD/apps/apps_st/appl/fnd/12.0.0/patch/115/sql/afopp002.sql &un_fnd &pw_fnd
    Connected.
    declare
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-20000: Oracle Error Mkr1= -24018 - ORA-24018: STOP_QUEUE on
    APPLSYS.FND_CP_GSM_OPP_AQ failed, outstanding transactions found
    ORA-06512: at line 15
I even tried restarting the worker, bounced the database and even tried running u03/oracle/CRP1PROD/apps/apps_st/appl/fnd/12.0.0/patch/115/sql/afopp002.sql manually which hangs for indefinitely.
    Any suggestion.

    Hi Srini,
Let me walk you through briefly regarding the upgrade process:
Initially the existing instance was 11.5.10.2 with 9.2.0.6 database.Last year the database was upgraded to 11.2.0.1 and configured with 11.5.10.2
However the 11g database upgrade steps specifically for EBS 11i(interoperatibility notes for 11i with 11g database) was not followed properly.
And one of the major key issue identified was the 11g Example CD was not installed on top of 11g software during database upgrade.Which is the pre-req for 11g upgrade in EBS
And as per my experience it creates issues during R12 upgrade (patch u6678700) and giving errors pertaining to oracle text error.
SR was raised for the same and was suggested, since there is no other option kindly install the Oracle 11g software and on top of that 11g Example CD and map the 11g database and go ahead with the R12 upgrade.
Now coming back to the core issue being faced, Pre-req followed properly. No errors in alert logs.
Can missing the Example CD installtion be the issue?

  • Only able to login as sysdba?

I just installed 11g2 on Redhat 5. I logged in using sqlplus as follows:
    $sqlplus sys/abcabc as sysdba
I created a user as follows:
    sqlplus> create user "xyz"
    profile "DEFAULT"
    identified by "abcabc"
    default tablespace "MYTAB"
    temporary tablespace "TEMP"
    account unlock;
    sqlplus> grant dba to "xyz"
    sqlplus> commit;
sqlplus reported user created and dba granted. No errors were repored by sqlplus.
Now when I try to login as follows:
    $sqlplus xyz/abcabc
I get a login prompt again and after 3 retries, I'm kicked out.
BUT, if I login as follows:
    $sqlplus xyz/abcabc as sysdba
    I get logged in.
What could be the problem? I've followed the exact same procedure for creating a user many times before and it always worked. What is different this time that I need to login as sysdba?
    Thanks

  • Backup strategy for ebs R12?

    Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding to backup strategy for ebs R12.
Let's say that we have one application server and one database server running, and we would like to have a backup periodically for both servers.
This means that we want to have the exactly same backup of configurations and other files for the application server and the database server in case of any fatal crashes in the servers.
I went through some discussion threads and it seems common way is to use RMAN for the data of database and file system copy for application and database servers. But, I would like to know what's the best way or recommended way for the backup strategy for data and server files of Oracle e-business suite.
Do you guys have any suggestion for this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    SH

    Hi SH;
I suggest check first our previous discussion
backup and recovery startegy for EBS
    Re: Backup System
    Backup Policy for EBS can
If you make search you can find many other thread which is mention same question
For your issue basicly what we do
    1. For our prod db, if possible we take weekly cold backup(sunday) and take rman backup also daily(full backup, but it depends system you can prefer to take incremental)
    2. For our system we take file system backup weekly(OS base)
    3. For application we take backup every sunday(for some system 15 days or 30 days period). The most important point here if your system prod, and if you need to apply patch to your system you need to have valid backup and also need backup for after patching
One other important issue is we run preclone sh before take backup for apps and db tier

  • Why does more users can login as sysdba than specified in password file

I have multiple databases using same password file which has five entries for sysdba, but i have more than five users who have sysdba right and all of them can simultaneously login as sysdba, can any one explain why

How do your users connect ? You may have any number of users connected locally as sysdba. Local connections are authenticated by OS, no password file is used.
Moreover, the five entries of password file have to be intended as DISTINCT users, but you may have a much higher number of connections.

  • Database Login - Can not login as sysdba

I have a userid for a database on a separate server. I can login as sysdba on the server with the database and from the OEM server. I can not login as sysdba from OEM. Is there a change that needs to be made to the password file or does there need to be password file on the OEM repository server?

What do you mean with OEM server here? Centralized gridcontrol server? That's a different concept, you connect to a specific administration user (often SYSMAN), 'sysdba' is not applicable here. Otherwise a server, which hosts a standalone DBConsole is not different from any other database server.
