Login questions - multiple servers - vpn

My goal is to permit users to login from their home PCs over a Cisco
VPN (IPSec client) without using the Novell client. Servers are
running NetWare 6.5 sp7 with CIFS. Test client is XP. I can login
and access the servers, but I am trying to simplify things.
After the client connects over the VPN, I issued the following
commands:
net use L: \\192.168.1.1\data4
net use N: \\192.168.1.3\apps
I get prompted to login to each server. Is there a way to access
multiple servers with a single login instead?
Is it possible to use the Cisco VPN username and password to
seamlessly login and not get prompted for another username and
password to access my servers?
Thanks for the help.

A little searching solve this. I found this page:
http://www.digitalissues.co.uk/html/...re-smb.html#18
Short answer: If my Windows username and password matches my
eDirectory username and simple password, then I can immediately access
all servers without an additional login and without a login per
server. If they do not match, then I will get a per server prompt to
login.
If anyone knows how to make that per server prompt into a single
login, I would greatly appreciate it.

  • How to set up  Planning on Multiple Servers

    Hi,
    1) I am trying to install a Finance Planning application so that it runs on one Planning Web Server and the other operations Planning application on another Planning 9.3.1 web server. Is that possilbe?
    2) May be unrelated question:
HP_Windows_Install.pdf has only a few lines explaining how to set up Planning on Multiple Servers. Is it as simple as that?
Here are the "few lines" from install.pdf:
Perform the same installation and configuration process on your secondary servers, making sure to choose
Planning Web Server component for any secondary server.
Make sure you select Reuse existing tables when prompted during the Configure a Database task
    in the Configuration utility.

    Tomcat.
But it will be nice to know the steps for Weblogic too - as Weblogic will be bundled "free" with future releases of Planning.

Is there any way (currently running 2012 Servers) that we can prevent users from logging into multiple domain computers simultaneously with the same username?
We still want them to log into those computers, just not simultaneously?

Unfortunately Windows has never offered this feature as a built-in feature, but there are several possibilities discussed in these articles:

  • Another port question - multiple Macs behind the same firewall

I've searched for this issue, but I can't seem to find a topic directly on point. I know how to forward the right points for this to work, but...
I'm coming from outside the network, and I need to control multiple machines that are behind the same firewall. I can't forward a port to more than one machine. How do I control all these machines?

To be able to connect to a workstation from outside it's network, the ports that ARD uses must be open on both ends of the connection. ARD uses ports 3293 and 5900 so those must be open.
If your workstations get their addresses from an NAT device rather than being "real", as seems to be the case from your description, the ports also need to be forwarded in the router to the workstation's internal IP address. ARD uses port 3283 for the reporting and updating function, so if your Macs are getting their IP addresses through NAT, since you can only forward a port to a single workstation, you can only get reports, push package/files to etc. for a single workstation.
ARD uses the VNC protocol for observation and control, though, and there are a range of IP addresses for that protocol, starting with 5900. ARD uses 5900 by default, so that port would be forwarded to the first workstation. You would, I believe, need to install VNC servers on the systems (since the ARD client cannot listen on any port other than 5900 while VNC servers can be set for other ports such as 5901, 5902, etc. You would then forward 5901 to the second workstation (and on to 5902, 5903, etc.). You can then use the following information:
Remote Desktop 2: How to specify a port number for a VNC client
    to connect.
    Hope this helps.

  • Multiple servers to one APEX install.

At the moment, I'm in the position of having APEX running on the site using the internal Oracle server. This was the initial plan as there aren't many IT resources on site, so maintaining the more complex setups was not really an option. However, I'd like to spend a little time investigating the Apache based setup and especially the APEX Listener (as that sounds as though it'll end up supporting NTLM).
The question is, is it possible to have multiple servers, all connected to the APEX install, serving correctly (spotting subtle issues would probably be beyond my ability to spot quickly)?
The aim for this is to find a method of running multiple access methods simultaneously, enabling efficient migration from one to another should the benefits of running with a particular method (such as APEX Listener) become overwhelmingly strong.

    James,
yes, no problem, you can run multiple different connection methods (apex listener, mod_plsql, epg) parallel.

  • Capture performance metrics across multiple servers

Hello. I'm still very new to Powershell but anyone know of a good Powershell v.3 -4 script that can capture performance metrics across multiple servers with an emphasis on HPC (high performance computing) and gen up a helpful report, perhaps in HTML or Excel
    format?
Closest thing I've found and used is this line of powershell:
    http://www.microsoftpro.nl/2013/11/21/powershell-performance-monitor-on-multiple-remote-computers/
Maybe figure out a way to present that in better format, such as HTML or Excel.
Also, if someone can suggest some performance metrics to look at with an HPC perspective. For example, if a CPU is running at 100 utilization, figure out if which cores are running high, see how many threads are queued waiting for CPU time, etc...

As far as formatting is concerned,
ConvertTo-HTML is a basic HTML output format, but you can spice it up as much as you like:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff730936.aspx
Out-Grid is very functional and pretty simple:
    http://powertoe.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/out-gridview-now-has-a-passthru-parameter/
    Here's an example with Excel:
    Excel
    Worksheets Example
This might be a good reference for HPC, I don't have access to an HPC environment so I can't offer much advice there.

It might be better to keep unrelated questions separate, so a thread doesn't focus on one question and you lose time getting an answer to another.

  • Limit user login in multiple RODC

I have 2 RODC and a RWDC.i prepopulate some password on RODC1 And Some on RODC2 cache database. i already read this article http://www.frickelsoft.net/blog/?p=232
I want to limit user login in multiple RODC.(for example user1 can not login to os in different RODC).
So i want to know is there is a way to limit user to login just from its RODC cache database not RWDC active directory?(i want user in RODC1 cant not login to RODC2.How can i do this?)

    Hi,
Do you want to restrict users from logging into a client computer that belongs to another site? Or do you want the users to get authenticated only to the RODC's where their credentials cached?
If you configured your sites and services properly the clients will choose the DC belongs to their own site and subnet. DC locator is the service name which is responsible for assigning a logon DC to the client. If the DC's are in different sites you
can configure the sites and services to point the client to correct DC in a site. AD authentication always distributed based on the sites and services you configured.
You can configure ldapsrv records to authenticate against specific DC.
RODCs do not register Domain Name System (DNS) general records (records that are associated with the domain itself and not with a specific site), as read/write domain controllers (RWDCs) do. This is the default behavior of RODCs. Although you can tune an
RODC to register DNS general records, we recommend that you not change the default behavior.
The main impact of RODCs not registering DNS general records is that a client computer cannot find an RODC in its site without reaching an RWDC (that is, a domain controller that registers the general records) if the client computer does not have a record
for the name of the site where the client computer is placed.

  • Separating a database onto multiple servers

We are working on a product that uses a set of SQL Server databases that are currently all in one instance and on one server. Now that we are growing, we need more processing power/space. So we want to move the databases onto multiple servers.
So we would not need to "shard", we created separate databases (with the same schema) for each company that purchased the product. We could readily put different company databases onto the different servers.
The question is this, how to we handle the routing to the different servers?
If we would have "sharded" the data in one database with different keys, SQL Server tools would have handled the routing for us. Because we actually separated the databases, do we have to do the routing manually? (That is, do we need to figure
out that when company A logs in that they need to go to database server aa.aa.aa while compay B needs to go to server bb.bb.bb?) Or is there a product that can help us with the routing?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Based on your description, it seems that you want to copy all schema from a "Shared" database into other servers and separate data into the tables based on the company name.
If I understand correctly, you can try to use the
SQL Server Import and Export Data Wizard to copy data from table or view to destination server and specify query to restrict data  for copy. Or you can use linked server and
SELECT INTO statement with condition to move the data.
As per my understanding about the "Handling routing", balancing capability. In order to meet your requirement, you have to load balance through your application's design.

  • Script execution on multiple servers in SCCM

I have been given the impression that SCCM's cmdlets (such as get-cmsite) doesn't provide enough flexibilities to execute a task/script on multiple remote servers. I might be wrong. My questions is, besides the fact that I can iterate a list of server
ip addresses in my script, does SCCM provide any easy cmdlets/features that allow me to repeat my script job on multiple servers? What are the walk-around options?

What exactly are you tying to do? Why would you want to run the same command on multiple server?

  • [PowerShell] Ping multiple servers simultaneously with PowerShell: Test-ConnectionAsync (strange problems)

I am hoping the author of the script "Ping multiple servers simultaneously with PowerShell: Test-ConnectionAsync" can help me.
    I found it at: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Multithreaded-PowerShell-0bc3f59b
I am using the version dated: 5/8/2014
I extraced the entire function from the .psm1 file for use in a script that continuously pings about 100 devices and sends an email when a device has failed three times in a row.  At some point, usually between 15 minutes and several hours, the script
stops running.  If I break out of it <CTRL>-C, and run a "Get-Job" command, I can see that a job is "stuck" at the "Running" state.  I can even retrieve the data using "Receive-Job" and it looks fine.
Here is a sample of the Get-Job after the program froze (I changed the Source and Destination to protect the names/IPs)...
    PS C:\Program Files\ServerScripts\DeviceMonitor> Get-Job
Id     Name            PSJobTypeName   State         HasMoreData     Location             Command
    145678 Job145678       WmiJob          Running       True            .                    Test-Connection
    PS C:\Program Files\ServerScripts\DeviceMonitor> Receive-Job 145678
    Source        Destination     IPV4Address      IPV6Address                              Bytes    Time(ms)
    SERVER1  XX.XXX.XXX.XX   XX.XXX.XXX.XX                                             32       5
    SERVER1  XX.XXX.XXX.XX   XX.XXX.XXX.XX                                             32       5
    SERVER1  XX.XXX.XXX.XX   XX.XXX.XXX.XX                                             32       5
    SERVER1  XX.XXX.XXX.XX   XX.XXX.XXX.XX                                             32       5
    PS C:\Program Files\ServerScripts\DeviceMonitor> Get-Job
Id     Name            PSJobTypeName   State         HasMoreData     Location             Command
    145678 Job145678       WmiJob          Running       False           .                    Test-Connection
I tried added some additional output in the function to troubleshoot but I can't seem to find the root cause.  I would be happy if I could remove the "stuck" job after a certain amount time, even though this doesn't get to the root of the
    problem.
Any assistance would be appreciated.  Even if you could point me in the right direction.
    Thank you.

  • How to restrict login for multiple users having same Role

Our Web Application is deployed on Tomcat 5.5
    The requirement is ?
There are roles in application like "operator", "admin"?
There are multiple users created for each of the above role.
When one user of "operator" role is logged in, then
It should not allow to login for another user of "operator" role.
Also, if user did not log out & application gets close, then
It should not allow to login for another user of "operator" role.
Also, it should not allow to login for multiple requests of same user
    (using another browser instance...)
Is it possible using session object?
But, using session object, it will create separate objects for different users,
So here I will not be able to restrict session object creation rolewise.
Also, how to retrieve these multiple session objects created for different users on server?
If anyone is having the solution please reply as soon as possible,
    Thank you.

To tell you the truth, this is a stupid requirement. It must be an extremely fragile application.
In any case, you will have to write your stuff for that. Probably a filter that on login, logout, and session expiration checks, makes, or removes entries in a DB (using a synchronized resource to prevent race conditions) or possibly even simply in an application context object.

  • One login for multiple applications

    Hi,
I was using HTMLDB 1.6 and followed the following guidlines: one login multiple applications for one login to multiple applications. Basically I set the cookie name the same for both applications. It worked.
Now I've upgraded to HTMLDB 2.0 and this doesn't work anymore. I need to login to each application. Any way around this?
    Thanks,

I have an SQL report region that includes this column:
    decode((select count(*) from gr_agency_add f, gr_emp_add a where a.empid = g.userid and a.aid = f.aid and a.add_type = g.address_option), 0, '', '<a href="f?p=&APP_ID.:9:' || :APP_SESSION || '::::P9_GRID:' || g.GRID || ' target="_blank">') ||decode(trunc(length(g.topic)/30), 0 , g.topic || '</a>', substr(g.TOPIC,1,30)||'..') "Topic",
    With the
    target="_blank"
of course I am opening page 9 in a new window. I never had a problem with this but today, in a demo to some executives, the new window apparently came up with the login page and not page 9. Would this be due to a browser setting? Unfortunately, I don't have much info about the laptop they were using.
The demo was still a success!

  • Managing multiple servers

Not sure what i am looking for at the moment but we have 6 * solaris 9 servers, 5 * solaris 10, about 30 zones and it's only going to get bigger.
it's become a real pain to manage(add, remove, keep track) users across multiple server/zones. How do other people go about managing multiple servers i for one don't want to log into each box/ zone and create a user accout which is currently what we do.
Guess what i am looking for is some way of managing all of our boxes from a central point.

Using a directory service like NIS or LDAP will allow user accounts for many hosts to be created and managed centrally. LDAP is what Active Directory is based on. Sun's implementation is called iPlanet. Sun One Directory Server, or Java Directory service, depending on the phases of the moon.
For spotting problems on servers (disk full, host down, &c), we use nagios. It's fantastic.
My employer also spent a good deal of money on opsware, but shall we say the benefits of it are not yet obvious.

    Hi,
To my understanding you should be able to attach the same cryptomap to the other "outside" interface or perhaps alternatively create a new crypto map that you attach only to your new "outside" interface.
Also I think you will probably need to route the remote peer ip of the VPN connection towards the gateway IP address of that new "outside" and also the remote network found behind the VPN connection.
If you attempt to use VPN Client connection instead of L2L VPN connection with the new "outside" interface then you will run into routing problems as naturally you can have 2 default routes active at the sametime (default route would be required on the new "outside" interface if VPN Client was used since you DONT KNOW where the VPN Clients are connecting to your ASA)

    [array]$contentArray = @()
    [array]$allfileslist = @()
    [array]$uniquefileslist = @()
    [array]$allfilesSRVlist = @()
    [array]$srvlist = @()

if you want to test it... just create two text files and put them in the same folder as the script.
server1.txt will have the following content
    filename1
    filename2
    filename3
server2.txt will have the following content
    filename1
    filename2
    filename4
it should generate the csv file ComparisonReport3.csv
    filename,server1,server2,Is it Missing file?
    filename1,yes,yes,no
    filename2,yes,yes,no
    filename3,yes,no,yes
    filename4,no,yes,yes
