Login to the Forum

in the old forum there was a cookie which uses my login, so that I directly could see in the forum which postings are new and which updated.
Now I have to login each time when I start my browser.
Is this only in my browser a problem or is this the default-behavior now ?

Yes I have seen that answer. I think this is ridiculous.
After all this is a just discussion forum, no high-security online banking or shopping site. No other web forum that I know requires a log in every time I visit it.
If it wasn't for this annoying login I would probably come here more often.

  • What's going on: jim.marion double login in the Forum

    Folks and jim.marion,
    Hello. It's July 31, 2013 today. It's Wednesday today.
About half an hour ago, I replied to jim.marion in my thread https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2561843 whose title is "Install PeopleTools 8.53 with Linux Issue: Client Windows and Server Linux".
I have been login in the Forum but when replied to jim.marion, a message box came up after his name: you are no longer login, please "login".
I click the "login" button and enter my account name and password in a rush to reply to jim.marion. I think this login is not neccessary ! I assume jim.marion has stealed my account name and password !
    My questions are:
First, please ask jim.marion to explain what's going on ? !
Second, if jim.marion got my account name and password, please don't abuse my account name and password !
Third, how to change account password ?  Does any folk confront the same issue ?
    Thanks.

I have been trying to think of something witty to say on my behalf, but figured I better stop thinking and just reply to say, no, I haven't been logged in as you. At this time I have no desire to change my persona, but maybe you can change that by telling me a little about yourself? Do you have a yacht? How many homes do you own? Vacation condos? I could probably be persuaded to change me to be someone else... I'd have to think about it though.
Now, what is it that makes you think jim.marion stole your credentials? Did you see posts you didn't write? Are you basing your accusation strictly on the fact that you were logged out when trying to reply to jim.marion? I read your post a couple of times, and that is all it says: you tried to reply to jim.marion and the forum told you that you were logged out. I'm not sure that is enough to convict jim.marion. Perhaps you were trying to log in as jim.marion? Perhaps I should be accusing you? Just kidding, of course. Honestly, I don't mind if you answer a few questions on the forum as me because I will get the points.
I'm pretty sure that your OTN forum account is tied to all other oracle.com accounts, including MyO support, OTN, OpenWorld, etc, so change your password at any of these locations and it should propagate.
Do you have any more details? Not that I can fix any of it. I am just curious as to why you think someone has your credentials.

  • Login Issues at the Forum

If I try to enter the forum area, it rejects my login with no error message. I've tried my VZ account creds and my forum creds. However, if I go to verizon.net, I can log in there and then click my way to the forum area. What's up with that???

Check your FF options/settings to see if you've enabled a notification when the page tries to redirect.  If that box is ticked, untick it and try again.
If a forum member gives an answer you like, give them the Kudos they deserve. If a member gives you the answer to your question, mark the answer that solved your issue as the accepted solution.

  • Login the forum

Every time I enter into the forum, I have to go thru login process. Can the website remember me so I do not need to login every time.

    Hi, Odysseus1479 -
That happens to me, too, using IE 5 in OS 9.
However, the OP is referring to a different sequence. Try this - log out. Go to a Discussions page which shows you as being logged out, i.e., one which shows the "Welcome Guest" statement. Then click the "Log In" link - if it behaves in the manner being discussed, instead of being taken to the log in password-entry page, you'll be taken to an appropriate Discussions page (either the main/home page for Discussions or the parent category for the forum you're in when you click the log in link) which shows you as being logged in - and you will actually be logged in.
One concern with this behavior is that if the machine is accessible to others, just logging out is insufficient to guard against an unauthorized person being able to use the account - if the browser is not also quit, then all the interloper need do is click the log in link, and they will be logged in and will be able to post using the owner's account.

  • Is the login for Creative Cloud and the Forums the same or different?

When I log in to CC I see my name and when I login to the Muse forums a screen name I used a while back shows up. Not sure if this is related or not but I cannot install the latest Muse due to a "cerificate problem".

    Hi Computer guy,
    welcome to Adobe Forum,
    1. To log in to creative cloud: use: www.creative.adobe.com
    2. To log in to Forums: use: http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa

Because I am following a link from a topic to which I am subscribed. If 8-10 other forums I participate in can, many of which at not technology related whatsoever, then I 'm sure Apple can figure it out.
    Follow the logic here...
    1. On my Mac I receive an email notifying me of a response to a topic to which I am subscribed in Apple Discussions.
    2. I click the link in the email in MAIL.app, this discussion for example 'To view or respond to this message, visit <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7019288#7019288> '
    3. This launches SAFARI and opens the thread in APPLE's discussion forum website.
    4. I want to reply to the discussion.
    5. I click 'Login'.
    6. I am taken to the login page.
    7. I login.
    8. I am redirected to the main Apple Discussion page, http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa NOT the page I was viewing prior to logging in.
To get back to that page AND be logged in I can either...
Switch back to mail.app and re-click the discussion topic link
    OR
Hit the BACK button twice in Safari then hit RELOAD to refresh and get the Apple Discussions site to realize I am now logged in.
There are two simple solutions that would also result in less work for Apple's servers, not requiring them to needlessly reload multiple pages.
    1. Redirect me back to the forum thread I was viewing after I login.
    2. Provide a login WITHIN the page am viewing.
As I said I probably subscribe to 8-10 forums, none of which have built the hardware (Mac Pro) or software (Mac OS 10.5.2, Mail.app and Safari) yet they ALL are able to do both or the above.
Somehow Apple is not able to do either even though they built the hardware AND the software.

  • OK. Firefox support asked me to login and respond to those who offered solutions to my previous question. Now, where do I find the forums?

I can find no link to your forums in order to respond to the solution to my previous question. What am I missing?

The place you posted this thread in is the forums. https://support.mozilla.org/questions/
You can either click on your username in order to then see a search link for the two questions you made or while on https://support.mozilla.org/questions/ click on Sort and Filter -> [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions?filter=my-contributions My Contributions] link.

  • I cannot login to apple tv with working apple id.  How do you think I signed in to the forum?

I tried looking through the numerous osts on this subject, some going back over 6 monrhs, with no conclusive solution for why a brand new out of the box Apple TV will not accept my working Apple ID, which I used just now to log in to the forums.  I have reset, I have tried a different ID.  I am on an open network.  I know this is a problem for others.  Has a true solution ever been found or are folks still just guessing?

I am having the same problem but cannot get anything but the actual phone to work.  I have a unlocked 3GS running 6.0 (what was I thinking?).  No data whatsoever, no texting, no visual voicemail.  I simply cannot access the APN settings.  I have tried sim swap, I have tried APN changers.  I have been on the phone with ST tech support for hours and hours.  I have tried to get the answers from a "genius".  I am stuck and looking at Android devices, but would really like to keep using the iphone with Straight Talk.

  • I can't login to the App Store - connection failed...

yesterday I had totally forgot my password and security question & went through 'Apple Express Lane' in getting assistance to reset my password for my ID "[email protected]" account so I can update to Lion OSX & merge my MobileMe account to iCloud through the 'App Store'
the password was reset and was able to login to the App Store with new password and download OSX Lion.
I have now successfully installed OSX Lion and have completed all the updates up to OSX Lion 10.7.3
after the updates, I wanted to purchase some games through the App Store and tried to login, but I get a message in red
    'Connection Failed'
I tried to find answers and post a topic in 'Apple Discussions Forum' using Safari 5.1.3, but it won't let me sign-in on my ID '[email protected]' and my password.I get the following message :
'This Apple ID has been locked for security reasons. Visit iForgot to reset your account (https://iforgot.apple.com). Forgot your Apple ID?'
But I just reset it with the Express guy??
The other thing is I keep getting 'security certificates' popping up as well every time I attempt to login into 'Apple Discussions' or click to another webpage for a different site. Even when I click on legitimate(I hope) certificate to always trust, I find I have to repeat the step again
even with iTunes when I go to sign in I get the following:
iTunes can't verify the identity of the server "buy.itunes.apple.com"
The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "buy.itunes.apple.com" , which could put your confidential information at risk. Would like to connect to the server anyway?
so... wishing I didn't upgrade now
I had gone back to the apple support by email and they said I needed to reset my password again.
which have done and still no change. Twice now over the last two days in changing password.
When I use 'Firefox 10.0.2' I can login to iCloud & Apple Support Community & and don't get the pop up verify security cert's
I hope I have given 'enough' details, any help would greatly appreciated
    My Hardware specs:
    iMac 7,1
    2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB Memory
    Thanks
    Dave

I am having the same problem. It was working fine until yesterday.

  • How to sign in to the forum using Firefox w/ NoScript

Apparently this site uses "suspicious cross-site POST requests" according to NoScript in Firefox.
Until this changes, you'll need to tweak the NoScript settings a little in order to be able to sign into your community.vzw.com account with NoScript XSS sanitizing enabled.  (I'll assume you've already allowed scripts from vzw.com and/or lithium.com - I'm pretty sure you'll need those enabled in order to use the forums at all)
    1) Open your NoScript options in Firefox:
    Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions (tab) -> NoScript -> Options
    2) In the NoScript options click the "Advanced" tab.
    3) In the advanced tab click the "XSS" sub-tab.
    4) In the "Anti-XSS Protection Exceptions" text box on the "XSS" tab add the following line:
    5) Click OK and then close the Add-ons window.
    6) Close your tab/window for community.vzw.com and try again.
    7) If this doesn't work you may also need to delete any cookies you have from vzw.com and/or close Firefox all together and try again.
Details on the problem, how I identified it, and how I came across this solution
For the past two days I've been trying to get my community.vzw.com account setup and running and no matter what I tried, I would always end up on a screen that said my user name and password was invalid.  To add to the confusion I was able to reset my password on the account using the "Forgot username/password" link and it STILL wouldn't work.
Then I noticed that for a split second right after I press the enter key to login there is a small notification bar at the top of the browser window.  It goes away too fast to read, but I was able to notice the "NoScript" icon on the bar before it disappeared.  So, I enabled scripts globally in NoScript and STILL had the same problem.  Disabling/Removing NoScript all together fixed the problem and I was able to login.  Of course that's not an acceptable solution, but at least I knew for sure that the problem was being caused by NoScript now.
Recalling past situations with sites not playing well with NoScript I remembered that there were NoScript messages logged in the Firefox error console (Tools -> Error console) when some actions are blocked.  So, I enabled NoScript again, tried to login, opened the error console and sure enough, there's a message saying:
    [NoScript XSS] Sanitized suspicious upload
    to [https://signin.verizon.com/sso/authsso/forumLogin.jsp<some data here>]
    from [http://www22.verizon.com/content/sso/signin.aspx?<some more data here>]:
transformed into a download-only GET request.
So, I took the URL from the "to ..." section of the message and entered it into the equivalent regular expression into the exceptions and tada!  It worked!  I can now sign into the community forums and still have the protection of NoScript to keep me safe from other sites.
    Enjoy!

Wow!  What a nice description of the issue you are having and resolution steps!  I have also passed this along to our IT folks to have a look.
Thank you for being so thorough I am sure there are others that may run into this!

  • Another user with login problems to forums

I didn't want to jump into either of these threads with "me too and..."
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=366881&tstart=0
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=366684&tstart=0
    but me too and...
Whenever I come directly to the discussion boards by typing in discussions.apple.com in Safari (1.3.2) address bar OR typing support.apple.com and then clicking the discussions link (in the purple bar) I'm greeted as guest. I click login and Safari helpfully fills in the details then several things happen (no pattern found yet).
    1. I'm prompted for my login again and told the user name or password was wrong. It will then accept the next autofill by Safari. Forums function normally.
    2. It greets me "Welcome Marlinespike" in the sidebar and prompts me to login again. Clicking any other link (e.g. My Questions, or iTunes) takes me to the forums and I'm not prompted again. Forums function normally.
    3. It greets me "Welcome Marlinespike" in the sidebar and says "you only have read (or was it guest?) privileges and presents me with a page to create an account. Ditto 2 in that I can click anywhere and bypass the "please make an account".
The problem occurs every time I navigate to the forums home. If I leave SAfari running but close all windows, it'll happen.
I don't know if this is related to recently getting Safari 1.3.2. My Safari was 1.2 until last week. This login issue has only started for me in the past week. Also, I can click a link in the forums and will get a 404 not found error, but if I refresh the page (CMD-R), I get it.

FYI, since downgrading my OS back to X.3.8 and Safari to 1.2 I've not had any login difficulties yesterday or today. Also have not had any threads "not found" to be found upon refreshing. Perhaps there's some weird java thing going on with the forum logins that affects SAfari 1.3?

  • How can I change my password to the Forum?

I have a hard time remembering my password because it was generated. Is there any way I can reset it to something I can remember?

    Hmmmm. Tricky question.
    To find the answer, I
    1) Clicked on the FAQ link (upper right side of my screen);
    2) Clicked on the "I have OTN login or password problems. What do I do?" in the FAQ;
    3) Clicked on the "How do I change my password?" link in that second FAQ.
    and read
How do I change my password?
To change your password, make sure you are logged on and click the "Account" link in the upper right side of the page. This will bring you to the main registration page where there is a "Change Password" link in the upper right side of the page under the "Log out" link.
BUT the 'Account' link does not show up on the Forum. I needed to click on the "Oracle Technology Network" logo in the upper left side to get to the page that shows the Account link.
By the way - this kind of question is best asked in the Community Feedback (No Product Questions) forum found at
http://forums.oracle.com about 1/2 way down the page, center column.

  • To the Forum Moderators

Please add "Search this Forum" to the LR forum page!
It is a hassle that the search always searches all forums.
Having  to drilling down the very long forum list in the advanced search to  find the correct forum to limit is a hassle as well - and I don't get  the logic of the sort order btw.
    Thanks
    McL

    OK, found it on http://forums.adobe.com/community/lightroom
Did not find it because ... jumping to the first page of the forum does not show it ... clicking on Photoshop Lightroom below the login name does not go the correct page where it is shown either.
One really has to reload the above link/page from favorites to get there.

  • [SOLVED] Can only login to Arch forum with Firefox

    Hi everyone,
I'm a new member and thus do not familiar with the rule. Please tell me if I post in the wrong place !
I have registered a new account on Arch forum. However, I can only login with Firefox.
When I try to login with other browser (Opera, Chromium, Konquerer), it says:
    Redirecting
    Logged in successfully. Redirecting …
Click here if you do not want to wait any longer (or if your browser does not automatically forward you)
And then redirect me to the previous page without changing my login status.
When I login with Firefox, everything is normal. My login status is changed and I can post this one !
I have just installed Arch Linux this afternoon and have not changed anything.
    Does the forum have problem?!
Anyone has the same problem with me?!
Last edited by BlueLaguna (2012-11-28 21:42:16)

Your SYSTEM is broken because a browser does not work? And that requires a reinstall?
There may be a problem during installation. That's what I mean.
Anyway, I have just installed Arch Linux. Firefox is still the only browser that work.
Your time would be better spent fixing the problem first. Cache or configuration, pick one or both.
I'm pretty sure that cache and configuration are not concerned with this problem. I'm a web developer and I know these stuffs.
Besides, I don't think that we need to config anything with a newly installed browser. If the default settings do not work with normal website, it's a bad browser (in this case, we have three bad browsers: Konqueror, Chromium, Opera... and may be more).
I'm using KDE and I don't know whether this problem comes from KDE or not. However, I can login to many other forums with Konqueror, Opera and Chromium.
This forum may not create the session or cookies correctly when I use other browsers.
Anyway, If no one confirms that he or she has the same problem, let's close this topic here.

  • I had an issue when trying to register with the forums, but I am having problems speaking someone because I am not a "registered" member?

Dear forum member(s), I was excited at the possibilities that Firefox offered. I have been looking forward to researching on the forums, but I made a blunder when registering.
I changed my email password some time ago and forgot that I had done so. I also have a second email which is similar to my address I was registering and I think I was actually using my the second email information until I caught the mistake.
Shortly thereafter I received an email with my user ID but no password. I had been assuming that I would receive a onetime computer generated password, but I wasn’t sure how things were supposed to go. After closely studying the language of the email, I was led to the conclusion that I would login with my original information I had provided.
My final attempt to register failed and I can’t explain why. I am positive that I had the right user id and password and now I am in limbo. I registered with the "Add-ons" section in 15 minutes. I was never told I was banned, but I was never told I am now a member. Thanks for reading.
    Sincerely,
    reel4

Not at all. I have never posted to the forums. The only thing I have written is what you see in this thread. I registered at add-ons section and things were fine. I wanted to use the forums, because I like to learn what I can. The problems began when I tried to register at the forms. At first, I thought my login from add-ons would work at the forums. It didn't. I honestly don't know if there is separate login and validation for each firefox/mozilla section.
When I attempted to register with the forums, I messed up when trying to login because I made too many attempts. I was either using another password from a second email or I misread those weird words they use to make sure you are not a bot.
I don't know what exactly was written but they basically wanted to take a look at things. I felt that was reasonable. After all - I felt like a moron for not being able to read those contorted word tests.
Then they sent me my user id but with no new password so I assumed my current password was the same as the one I originally gave. Long story short, I tried to login again- all three times I failed. They never banned me or told me anything. I have not heard from anyone or thing. To It's like they have just walked away. I just don't understand what has happened and why no one will tell me anything. So... no - I am not banned. When I do bet blocked after I logoff, it has the same effect as a ban. I guess I have been ousted. I just wish this I could get this matter resolved. I changed my password and email so maybe that will keep around.
It's a strange situation and I am at loss for words. I even wrote the forum people an apology letter describing the facts above in details and apologizing for the inconvenience. I actually apologized for being an idiot.
One last thing - at the outset of the post - I told you they gave me one last opportunity to login and it failed. I know for a fact I had the information correct. I had even written my password somewhere else on the screen to where I could see each character to verify the pass word was correct and then cut and paste.
James - who knows what the future holds but I must thank you my friend. At the very least, I could tell my story. It is all so strange.
