Look up resources using a dynamic name

I am using the <f:loadBundle ... /> tag to load localized resources in my JSP page. Now, I want to be able to look up resources from that bundle using a dynamic key. Like:
<h:outputText value="#{resources.error-<%=code%>" />
Or something like that, where code can be a request parameter to the JSP page. Seems like its something that would be common to want to do.
Does anybody have any idea how to do that?
Thanks for any help.

That didn't work either.
I think I'll just do it the old fashion way:Just send me your application (JSF version) and I will try make it work.
On Monday you will get working version if I will capable fix your problem.
My email: [email protected]
I'm new to this JSF stuff I'm used to be delphi programmer and start to develop web application (using JSF) just couple month ago. That why sometimes I can't provide good answer. :)
By the way, from your experience with JSF, is it
mature enough to use in a production website? The
only thing I'm using it for now is the localized
resource bundle but that doesn't even do what I want.
Not sure if JSF buys me anything versus just doing
HTML/JavaScript/JSP.I created only one jsf application that include about 10 pages and using connections to MySQL.
This application not in production yet because it's not finish, but it's work OK at least for one user :).
I'm sure for complicate web site with different kind of data from different sources JSF is good way to go because it's easy connect presentation tier to business and data tiers. Don't forget also about possibility to create any kind of web components and rendering kits including rendering kit for virtual reality.
We have web site with information about healthcare providers, services, schedules, accepted insurances.
That the regular site with HTML/JavaScript/JSP and it's take to much time keep this site to today.
Almost all information for site we can get from our database, but site using information from xml files.
Of course we can create complicate jsp based web site with connection to database but it's mean you need bunch very good web developers.
In near future I'm planning make all our web sites JSF based.

• Physical Table (Dynamic Name) x Physical Table x Alias

Hello,
We are customizing the standard OBI Applications .rpd. but this question is in reference to OBIEE, hence the post here.
I have no problems with Physical Tables and Alias in the Physical layer.
It just happens that the standard OBI Applications .rdp has some other 'physical tables' - the one for: Dim_W_PARTY_ORG_D_Customer that in its properties uses a Dynamic Name pointing to a variable that contains W_PARTY_ORG_D.
There are other similar cases in the vanilla .rpd
I fail to understand why sometimes (most of the time) the vanilla .rpd uses Alias and in these few cases use this strange Physical table. Pls. anyone would care to comment ?
As we expand W_PARTY_ORG_D with new columns... these new columns are NOT automatically part of the Dim_W_PARTY_ORG_D_Customer as it happens in an Alias definition.
Txs. for any comments.
Antonio

Hi Antonio,
From the 11g documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10540/physicallayer.htm#i1005872) ;
Select this option to use a session variable to specify the physical table name, similar to catalog and schema objects. This option is available for non-multidimensional data source tables when you select a table type of Physical Table.
You might want to choose this option if you have a multi-tenancy implementation and you want to define a separate physical table name for each customer. Another example would be to select between primary and shadow tables that are valid at different times in your ETL cycle. In both cases, you can assign session variables to dynamically select the appropriate table.
Hope this helps.

Hello everybody,
can anybody please explain 'use dynamic name' and 'caching properites' options for alias tables...
Thanks...
eagerly waiting for a response..
Vijay

You want to create dynamic target table name right?
You can refresh a variable like #GET_SESSION
#GET_SESSION= SELECT <%=odiRef.getSession("SESS_NAME")%> FROM DUAL
My tmp table name like TMP_#GET_SESSION
then in your package refresh #GET_SESSION variable and you can use it.
I hope this can be helpful

• Calling Classes Using Dynamic Names

I've recently been learning ActionScript 3 after have gotten
used to AS2, and I've run into a problem concerning getting
particular MovieClips onto the stage. Calling MovieClips a by
dynamic name was easy using identifiers, but since all MovieClips
are now just classes, I'm unsure how to call them dynamically.
For example:
I have two MovieClips in my FLA file called
"mt_1" and "mt_2". My randomly
chooses either the number 1 or 2 (we'll call the variable
"num") and then it should place the corresponding
MovieClip on the stage. What I have now is clearly not working.
Does anyone have the solution to this?

Sorry to follow up on this Answered thread but it seemed
appropriate.
In the above scenario, how would one add something like this:
var thumbRef:Class = getDefinitionByName("shape") as Class;
for (var i:Number = 0; i<6; i++) {
var square
:* = new thumbRef(); // or this["square_"+i]:* = new thumbRef();
master_holder.addChild(this["square_"+i])
How do we beat the simple identifier restriction?

• Can't access object using "id" or "name" if created with actionscript

How can you register an instance of an object with actionscript so that it's id or name value is accessible?

label="mxml label"
alpha="0.8"/>
</s:Application>

Hi Dan,
It is a very rare occurrence when I miss not being able to access an object (object property, really) using the ["name"] notation for objects created using actionscript.
In MXML the compiler is conveniently adding an attribute to the class with the same name as the id, so you can conveniently refer to it using the [] notation. While we explicitly specify an application container to use, the MXML compiler creates a custom container which is a derivative of the base container and to that it adds properties for the children declared in MXML. I guess it also effectively calls "addElement" for us when the container is being constructed.
Your example assumes that using "addElement" to add the button to the application container is the same as declaring a variable (ie property ). It isn't, so there's no point in looking for an property of the name "as3Button" using the [] notation, because it doesn't exist. The container is managing a collection of children in it's display list and that's not the same as being accessible as properties of the container.
Generally speaking, accessing properties using the ["name"] syntax isn't necessary.
Paul
[edit: you may wonder why "addElement" doesn't conveniently also add the "id" attribute to be an property of the container class. Unfortunately, it can't because the container class would need to be dynamic and it's not. A further complication would be that adding properties at runtime would invite naming clashes at runtime with associated mayhem. MXML can do this because the compiler generates the class and can trap name duplication at compile time.
Great question, BTW.
-last edit changed my "attributes" to be "properties" in line with Adobe's terminology]

• Issue in using Cursor+Dynamic SQL+ Bulk collect +FORALL

Hi,
I have a dynamic query which I need to use as a cursor to fetch records that inturn need to be inserted into a staging table.
The issue I am facing is I am not sure how to declare the variable to fetch the records into. Since I am using a dynamic cursor how do I declare it?
My code looks something like this -
TYPE c_details_tbl_type IS REF CURSOR;
c_details c_details_tbl_type;
TYPE c_det_tbl_type IS TABLE OF c_details%ROWTYPE INDEX BY PLS_INTEGER;
c_det_tbl c_det_tbl_type; -- ???
BEGIN
v_string1 := 'SELECT....'
v_string2 := ' UNION ALL SELECT....'
v_string3 := 'AND ....'
v_string := v_string1||v_string2||v_string3;
OPEN c_details FOR v_string;
LOOP
FETCH c_details BULK COLLECT
INTO c_det_tbl LIMIT 1000;
IF (c_det_tbl.COUNT > 0) THEN
DELETE FROM STG;
FORALL i IN 1..c_det_tbl.COUNT
INSERT INTO STG
VALUES (c_det_tbl(i));
END IF;
EXIT WHEN c_details%NOTFOUND;
END LOOP;
CLOSE c_details;
END
Thanks

Why the bulk collect? All that this does is slow down the read process (SELECT) and write process (INSERT).
Data selected needs (as a collection) to be pushed into the PGA memory of the PL/SQL engine. And then that very same data needs to be pushed again by the PL/SQL engine back to the database to be inserted. Why?
It is a lot faster, needs a lot less resources, with fewer moving parts, to simply instruct the SQL engine to do both these steps using a single INSERT..SELECT statement. And this can support parallel DML too for scalability when data volumes get large.
It is also pretty easy to make a single SQL statement like this dynamic and even support bind variables.
Simplicity is the ultimate form of elegance. Pushing data needlessly around is not simple and thus not a very elegant way to address the problem.

• Creating a variable with a dynamic name

I read a XML which has a unknown number of
TextFormat-Definitions.
I used Arrays to hold the data. Every time the TextFormat
should be used, I overwrite a temporary one with the data i hold in
the array and then I apply this format to the specific text.
Now I want to optimise this and create TextFormats at once
which can be applied when needed, without all the conversion.
The best way I can think of is by having
dynamic names for the
TextFormats for the user to call.
I can't use the way I did in AS2:
var ["TF_"+string]:TextFormat = new TextFormat(x,y,z);
How is the
right Syntax in ActionScript3.0?

Yeah, the Application class is no longer dynamic, so you can
just add members on the fly.
You could create an "associative array" (object), and store
the formats in that, keyed by 'string". Associative arrays are like
hash tables and are efficient at looking up values by key.
I have heard of but not used Dictionary objects.

==================================
i ran TNSPING on the box, and that returns a success code, so I'm not really sure what I'm missing here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Peculiar.
When you show yourself logging on to an instance, wouldn't it be a good idea to then demonstrate that you've actually connected to the right instance? Instead, you do a mere count from a table. Why not, instead, do a select instance_name, status from v$instance? Then we would indeed know that an instance called TESTSID is running and that its status is OPEN. Without that, your statement that "this is how I know the database is up" is really just a faith-based proposition. The statement you show simply tells us AN instance is up: it doesn't tell us WHICH one, though (and your lsnrctl status feedback makes it clear more than one is running).
Your output from tnsping is largely irrelevant, too. TNSPING tells you whether your client can talk to a listener, and that's it. It says nothing at all about whether the instance you're trying to reach is up, down or otherwise engaged.
A better command to diagnose these sorts of things, incidentally, is lsnrctl services, because it's a service you are ultimately trying to connect to, so seeing what services your listener is aware of is more useful than knowing the status of the listener.
Anyway: your listener has been configured statically to listen for two instances (PBDPASSM and TESTSID). "Configuring statically" means simply that your listener.ora will have a SID_LIST section in which both those services are listed as things the listener should be listening for. Because they're in the SID_LIST, that's why those services are listed in your lsnrctl status report -and that's also why they're listed as status UNKNOWN.
If the instances were actually running, and unless you've set the LOCAL_LISTENER parameter in the init.ora for each instance to something weird, you would **also** see each service listed as 'Ready', because each instance's PMON background process would be registering the existence of its instance dynamically and actively with the listener. It's not saying, "Please listen for this but I don't know if it's running or not" but "here I am and I want you to listen on my behalf". So the listener does know its status at that point, and hence records it as 'ready'.
The fact that you don't have any statuses of 'ready' means the instances aren't running or they are running but unable to register with the listener (perhaps because LOCAL_LISTENER is directing them to some other listener running on another port). But if dynamic registration was not working for that reason, static registration would still be fine for the purposes of making connections if the instance was actually up. Which again raises the question of which one you managed to connect to when you did the sqlplus / as sysdba in your test.
I don't believe the case of anything is the issue here, by the way: your listener reports "testsid" and your SERVICE_NAME is asking for a connection to "testsid", so I see no problem there. It would be different if one said 'TESTSID' and the other 'testsid', but that's not what's happening.
I'd like to see the output of a ps -ef | grep PMON for this host. I'd also like to see the results of a select instance_name, status from v$instance when you do your test connection. And I'd finally like to see the output of show parameter local_listener.

• Using alternative display names on one email alias

Sometimes I'd like send email using one display name (ie "Mr. Happy") and sometimes with another ("Mr. and Mrs. Very Happy"), both using the same email account. Is there a way to set that up without creating a duplicate account? Thought I'd seen a reference, but can't find it now...

Thank you. This is great help-it's got me looking in the right direction.
I have not been managing aliases, so I'm wondering how to load the db and edit it. This is my first mail server and my first email setup for osx so I'm a newbie.
I've found the following resources:
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/Manpages/man1/postalia s.1.html
and
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Darwin/Reference/Manpages/man5/aliases. 5.html#//apple_ref/doc/man/5/aliases
But I'm a little lost as to how to edit the configuration file, and I'm a bit lost on where it is. I've found a file titled "aliases.db" within the /etc folder that I have opened with a text editor. It lists some of the email addresses in my company, but there's also some garbled information in it. So I believe this is the file I would need to edit, but I'm not sure.
Can you please give me a little more help as to how to edit this file and reload it? I really appreciate it.

• How do I use event.target.name in AS2?

Thanks to kglad I was able to see how event.target.name in AS3 could make a button load a movieclip with the same namesake.
I'm doing the same thing now in AS2 but don't know what to write instead of event.target.name.
And so at the moment each button pushes info into an array and then a function uses that to decide which movieclip to attach to a holder after it has faded out once, and then fades in again...
// ***** IMAGE GALLERY START ***** //
// Add image to holder
imgholder.attachMovie("img0", "image0_0", 1)
// Array
var nextLoad = ["img0"];
// Btn listeners
img5.onRelease = function() { trace (nextLoad); nextLoad.pop(); nextLoad.push("img5"); btnClick() } // Written on 1 line
img4.onRelease = function() { trace (nextLoad); nextLoad.pop(); nextLoad.push("img4"); btnClick() }
img3.onRelease = function() { trace (nextLoad); nextLoad.pop(); nextLoad.push("img3"); btnClick() }
img2.onRelease = function() { trace (nextLoad); nextLoad.pop(); nextLoad.push("img2"); btnClick() }
img1.onRelease = function() {
nextLoad.pop();
nextLoad.push("img1");
btnClick()
img0.onRelease = function() {
nextLoad.pop();
nextLoad.push("img0");
btnClick()
// The btn function
function btnClick() {
trace ("click");
var myImgTween:Object = new Tween(imgholder, "_alpha", Strong.easeOut, 100, 0, 1, true);
myImgTween.onMotionFinished = function() {
fadeOutImg();
// The btn function part II
function fadeOutImg() {
trace ("fadeOutImg");
imgholder.attachMovie(nextLoad, "image1_1", 1);
var myImgTween:Object = new Tween(imgholder, "_alpha", Strong.easeOut, 0, 100, 1, true);
I know I should be able to push the button name into the array, but am having to use a string... I'm sure my code is cumbersome!! But it works. I've tried pushing the button name but it end up including the full stage reference.
Is there a cleaner way of doing this using event.target.name?
Thanks for looking!

There is no event.target in AS2. However since AS2 has no way of remembering the scope object where the target object resides, you can use this to your advantage to retrieve the name of the target by using the "this" command in the function whenever you use the above format "mc.onPress = myfunc". FYI, the popular workaround Delegate, made it possible that when you called "this" in the function, you could retrieve the scope object where the target instance resides. So without its use, "this" will return the name of the target object. Anyway this is the code you can use:
imgholder.attachMovie("img0","image0_0",1);
var nextLoad = ["img0"];
img5.onRelease = onImgRelease;
img4.onRelease = onImgRelease;
img3.onRelease = onImgRelease;
img2.onRelease = onImgRelease;
img1.onRelease = onImgRelease;
img0.onRelease = onImgRelease;
function onImgRelease():Void {
nextLoad.pop();
nextLoad.push(this._name);
btnClick();
// The btn function
function btnClick() {
trace("click");
var myImgTween:Object = new Tween(imgholder, "_alpha", Strong.easeOut, 100, 0, 1, true);
myImgTween.onMotionFinished = function() {
fadeOutImg();
// The btn function part II
function fadeOutImg() {
trace("fadeOutImg");
imgholder.attachMovie(nextLoad,"image1_1",1);
var myImgTween:Object = new Tween(imgholder, "_alpha", Strong.easeOut, 0, 100, 1, true);

• How to use same dynamic text, multiple times in a Movie

FLASH CS5.5
How can a dynamic text field be used multiple times, on any
frame, in any new layer during a Movie?
~~
A number of unique dynamic text fields are being used.
The intent is to use them each, many times during a Movie.
(i.e. a users first name)
They are successfully being "ExternalInterfaced" from a PDF form field.
(the SWF is displayed within the PDF as a RMA)
This all works well, IF I only use one instance of the dynamic text field.
(one use of each unique text field)
If I try and use that same dynamic text field, again, in a new layer, later in the SWF,
all of that said, duplicate dynamic text fields do not display.
~~
Stumped!!!
Thanks in advance for your advice / comments!
D-

Thanks Ned,
I always welcome learning something new.
I did not know creating a new keyframe,
creates a new instance.
Yes, I had used the same dynamic text field instance name in
numerous, new layers (great observation).
With the objective to display the User's name throughout
the timeline (on and off)...
I'll attempt to paraphrase your solution;
Use a single layer to display the dynamic text field.
Extend this layer's timeline throughout the movie, or end use of the dynamic text field.
Help with this one ??
Set the visible properties to true or false as need through out the timeline.
( Does require an AS3 ? )
I'll give that a try.....
~~
Side of effect of using the above solution;
The SWF in it's attempted state, uses the dynamic text field instance, in
different places, different text sizes, on the stage, throughout the Movie.
(i.e. the User's first name appears in different sentences...)
Per the solution above,
I believe I will be limited to One location, one format setting.
Is this assumption correct?
I can make this work from a display / Movie point of view.
However, your first VAR concept, noted above, might be
worth exploring should more flexibility be required.
Thanks for making the time to coach...

Greetings,
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is
org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound
=================
Below is the line of my LoginServlet class which is
referred to in the stack trace - Object object =
context.lookup
( "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" );The root of the naming context is 'java:comp/env' and this is where lookup automatically begins for EJBs and resources. IOW, by specifying "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" as the EJB lookup name the server is actually treating this as "java:comp/env/java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk". Specify only the ejb context ("ejb/WarehouseClerk") in your lookup and you should be fine.
Any help would be most appreciated.

• Need Dynamic attributes for XI adapter to use in Dynamic Configuration ..!!

Hi Friends,
We are planning send message to different receivers through XI adapter by using Dynamic Configuration.
Can anyone please tell me what are the dynamic attributes used for XI adapter.
In my scenario, I want to pass the Service Number and Path prefix of XI adpater dynamically by using sender ID from Idoc payload.
I know how to use the dynamic configuration UDF in message mapping. But I don't know the dynamic attributes which we can pass to Service Number and Path prefix of XI adpater.
Kindly suggest ..
Thanks
Deepthi.

Hi Sourabh,
>> You need to set these attributes explicitly in the adapter configuration..
Can you please elaborate on this like how to implement this? Do we need to use any module configuration in the adapter?
We will use XI adapter only while sending the data directly from IE without using any feautures of AE (like adapters, modules etc). It is like directly sending data from ABAP stack without using J2EE stack. That is the reason we can't use any Modules in XI adpater and it is in disabled by default.
When I checked in SXMB_MONI.. as you said details are found in
- <SAP:Attribute>
<SAP:Name>host</SAP:Name>
<SAP:Value>10.190.25.16</SAP:Value>
</SAP:Attribute>
- <SAP:Attribute>
<SAP:Name>httpDestination</SAP:Name>
<SAP:Value />
</SAP:Attribute>
- <SAP:Attribute>
<SAP:Name>path</SAP:Name>
<SAP:Value>/rcvA/receiver</SAP:Value>
</SAP:Attribute>
- <SAP:Attribute>
<SAP:Name>port</SAP:Name>
<SAP:Value>8210</SAP:Value>
</SAP:Attribute>
XI adapter uses mainly three parameters Host, Port and Path.
I want to pass any two of these values dynamically to achieve my solution. Can you please suggest your solution how we can implement it.

• Web browser resource use in kde4

My testing was not extensive. I opened 2 tabs in each of 4 browsers and only looked at cpu use after about a minute. One tab was used for gmail and the other for hulu. These should test what most people want to do. I also went to random other sites to see what happened.
Chromium 13, Firefox 6, Opera 11.5, and Konqueror(using kde 4.7 and KHTML) were used.
None of the browsers had a problem with watching flash videos on hulu with Konqueror having the best transition to/from fullscreen flash and opera 2nd best. Firefox was good and Chromium not so good. Konqueror would use the most resources when starting a flash video, likely due to the flashplugin requiring a wrapper.
Gmail was best on Chromium. Konqueror would only show the basic view and would not render in standard view.
In general, konqueror used the least resources except when loading and was quickest to release them. The others all used about the same resources with Opera releasing them quicker. Chromium would use fewer resources to start but would be reluctant to release them. Firefox was good but not great. None crashed or slowed the system significantly.
Konqueror was slowest on sites with flash and fastest on sites without, using the least resources(on average) in a kde environment but having issues rendering some sites. Chromium is slow to release resources and I would not use it on constrained systems but was quite fast. Opera was good for resource use and speed. Firefox was slowest but not by much and is very good for random websites.

Oh, I posted this to the Macbook forum as it's ambiguous whether the update caused a hardware/software confliction, since a fresh install of Snow Leopard did not work.
