Looking for a LabVIEW "Comparison Tool"

LabVIEW is hell to debug.
I'm working through Exercise 7-5 in the Intermediate I Course Manual. There is a Producer Loop, a Consumer Loop, and a Display Loop, each with a 8 to 12 element Case Structure.
Currently (11/14/2007), my project bombs consistently. Press Play, let it get half way through its cycle, press Stop, then the interface becomes unresponsive. I've tried enabling Highlight Execution, but there are many VIs that I don't understand (the manual has me drop them in) and so many things going on at once that I am lost.
I navigated to the Solutions folder, and opened the project. The solution (from what I can see) looks identical to mine, and it runs as it should.
I want to compare the two, so I tried to open another instance of LabVIEW so that I could look at each of the cases side-by-side. Naturally, LabSPEW (as we have come to call it) will not let you open 2 instances at one time.
Unlike normal languages (C++, VB, Perl), I can not print my code to see what went wrong (viewing on a screen is more difficult than looking at it on paper), and I can not use conventional comparison tools. It seems I am at the mercy of National Instruments to provide something.
I looked in the LV menus for a comparison tool. If it is there, it is either in an illogical spot or it is called something that I am not expecting.
I searched this forum for "comparison tool", but hundreds of irrelevant topics were all I could find.
Does anyone know how to compare one project to another using LabVIEW? Is this possible?

To nrp: I printed the file to PDF (should be attached). (Maybe that will be good for "LabViewGu..." below.)
To LabViewGu...: New to LV (hence the Intermediate Course I'm taking). What do you mean by "post your code"? It's all in pictures! I guess I could say "Timing Module.vi Error In comes from here, Error Out goes to there," etc., but that would take forever!
To tst: I tried doing the compare, but when I went to Select... the file to compare it with, the C:\Solutions folder was not among the choices. I attempted to enter it manually, but LV said it was not a valid choice. My vi is listed in the "Compare VIs" dialog box as "TLC.lvproj\My Computer\TLC Main.vi" and it is physically located "C:\Exercises\LabVIEW Intermediate I\Course Project\TLC Main.vi".

  • I am looking for a load testing tool for my flex application

I am looking for a load testing tool for my flex application having a limited budghet of 1000-1500$. I have gone through NEOLoad,WebUiLoad all are very expensive.

Do you have iPad 1 or 2?
You can connect iPad 1 via a VGA adapter to any projector with a VGA input (all projectors have this).
You can connect iPad 2 via VGA or HDMI.
I like Epson or Sony for projectors.

  • Small Company looking for a LabVIEW consultant (remote consultant welcome)

    Hello,
We are a small company looking for a LabVIEW consultant.  This is about a 3-6 month project.  The consultant must be familiar with NI hardware product as well.  Please send me your resume/CV.  In your email please state the following: years of experience, educational background, your hourly requirements, your location, and the amount of time you will be able to provide.
Please removes spaces on the email below.
    int e g r at e d devi c e s @ yah oo. c o m

I'm not sure if this is frequent on the NI forums, since I believe NI validates user information prior to issuing an account that allows them to post to the forum.  But usernames (like mine) don't provide immediate identifications; you have to ask for it.
Apparently Job Scams have become more frequent.  See the list of tips on the following site, (I have no relationship with this site.  It just came up in a google search).
    http://www.identityhawk.com/IdentityProtectionTips-inHonorof-LaborDay
5 Steps to Take Before Applying for a Job
    1. Email - the company to get information about the job. Do not provide any personal information to them upfront.
    2. Phone - speak to an official at the company and ask about the job. Be assured that it is legitimate.
    3. Meet - at the company site to assure it is a real company. If you cannot meet, and the company is in your town, drive by to see the facility, (possibly using google maps to view the site).
    4. Verify - see if you can find a person who has worked at the company or call a Chamber of Commerce of Better Business Bureau to assure the legitimacy of the company. Search online for legitimate information about the company, search online for any complaints of non-legitimacy.  State Entity sites typically have the name of the company and how long they have been in business.
    5. Apply - once you are assured the company is legitimate, it is safe to apply; but you should still not supply highly personal information like bank accounts until you are officially hired.

  • I am looking for a sql analyzer tool.

I am looking for a sql analyzer tool that can analyze the speed of two queries...

You mean like autotrace, set timing on, or alter session set events '10046 trace name context forever, level 12' , or you can write your own test harness. Depends upon what you want, exactly. Wall time, cpu time, average over 100 executions? Max time during busiest time of day in the database. Min time during quietest time of day in the database.
A simple test harness like this might be sufficient.
    declare
    l_start number;
    begin
    l_start := dbms_utility.get_time;
    -- do your query here
    dbms_output.put_line( (dbms_utility.get_time-l_start) || ' hsecs' );
    end;

  • Looking for a labview virtual instrument program we can modify

Hi, I’m looking for a canned labview virtual instrument program we can modify for the OMB DAQ 55 from Omega to measure three temps and control three DO.  I have the driver at:ftp://ftp.omega.com/public/DASGroup/products/OMB-DAQ5455&56/ The driver is labviewpdaq5xsetup.exe. I have the OMB DAQ 55 from http://www.omega.com/pptst/OMB-Daq55.html  with a USB interface. I am trying to set it up to control a 24V electric valve. I’d like it to measure temperatures (5 separate temps), allow a set point to be programmed for three of them and turn on and off a DO based on the temperature. PID is not required yet. Maybe in the future… We have labview 7.1 and 8.0 but my colleague prefers 7.1  Do you have an labview VI programs that you can share that will do this with the DAQ 55? If you have something that will be close, we can modify it. But starting from scratch will likely mean we can not get this done in time for a project test. Simple set point and control is all I’m looking for… I’m new (my colleague knows it better than me, but has less time) to labview and do not have the resources to learn it from scratch to figure this out. Is there something you have I could modify? Can you help. Or are there canned programs you have that will do this? Labview is the preferred language. Thanks. Attached is what Omega shared with us, it might help…it’s a screen capture from a similar program, but far from the mark.

    Hi vestel,
These discussion forums are more geared for questions - not necessarily having everyone else code for you.
You have a few options if you want code.
    1) Look at the shipping examples that come with LabVIEW.  This will give you a starting point from which to ask questions.
    2) Look at the Instrument Driver Network that exits on National Instrument's Web site.  Here are all the Omega instrument drivers listed.
    3) Look at the list of Alliance members who you can pay to develop your code for you.  Look here.
    I hope this helps,
    Kevin S.

  • Looking for a disk management tools in JAVA

    Hi everybody,
I am currently looking for tools or APIs designed for disk management. I explain : I would like to defrag or format a microSD card with Java code.
Is it possible since the way to get access to the memory card depends on the underlying OS. I know that the really defrag or format action is OS-independent, but filesystem type dependent.
Can you help me please ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Oliwood

These are system level, platform dependent actions and not the sort of thing Java is made for. If you search hard enough (read Google) you may find these types of tools using JNI for specific platforms, but I wouldn't count on it.

  • Looking for Mac Pro comparisons to first Mac Pro

I have a Mac Pro Quad bought the same day the first intel mac pros came out. I had a horrible experience with my local Apple Store at the Summit in the Birmingham, AL area which was followed by an even worse experience with the Apple Online support. After standing at the Mac Pro waiting for 45 minutes at the store without anyone approaching me at all, I had to leave and then called the same store during my last 15 minutes of standing there to see if someone who answered the phone would come to the front of the store. After I left it was 25 minutes later before someone finally answered the phone. They tried locating anyone in the store and finding that no person there had a clue they forwarded me to the Apple Care line. Again after a 15 minute wait for someone there I thought I had someone who would answer my question and she got lots of info and was looking up my computer details and was about to answer the question and she accidentally hung up on me and never called back - knowing that I have no way of getting back in touch with her. Over an hour and a half shot with no answer.
Now - what was the question - I have, as I said, an original Mac Pro (dual processor - duo core 2.66 Ghz with 4 GB Ram). I want real accurate net processor comparison data with the current dual Quad core Mac Pro computer. I don't just want to hear that "its a lot faster". The Apple website compares the previous 8 core with the current 8 core but nothing else. I would be happy with an accurate Specmark comparison. Other than basic browsing and email the vast majority of my work on the computer is video editing in Final Cut Pro and working with Adobe's Master Collection - Photoshop CS5, Premiere Pro, Flash, and Illustrator.
Since Apple has failed miserably at helping me I am hoping there might be someone here with some clue as to what I am looking for. The website compares todays 8 core with today's 12 core and shows that for $1,500 more you get 33% speed improvement. Naturally that is not a good return but I am 100% confident that data exists somewhere that accurately compares my computer to the latest 8 core Mac Pro.
    Thanks

I would direct you to Geekbench, Barefeats, MacPerformanceGuide for a couple starters.
4GB RAM is/was very minimal and basic.
What do you use and do on Mac Pro matters a lot as to what to expect.
The 3.33GHz 6-core with SSD boot drive would be good, with 3-4 x 8GB RAM.

  • Looking for a Performance testing tool

We want to stress test our multiserver Adobe Connect before putting into production.  HP tool was not successful.  Any Recommendations on tool and method?

    Cameron,
Thanks for your input! Sounds like you are probably using these
    products.
I saw the PerformAssure demo. Their GUI is very slick!! PerformAssure
does some cool stuff like comparing EJB metrics with system metrics
and were able to show me the EJB method that was causing a problem
    with a petstore application.
I heard about this new tool from a company called Performant
(http://www.performant.com). I am signed up for a demo with these
folks. Will let you all know what I find.
I looked at Wily site and didn't persue them as they seem to be
deployable in the production environment. Our application is not live
yet, but we want to be able to make sure it can handle good load ;)
    Thanks!

I haven't had a chance yet to look at Sitraka's software, but Precise
Indepth/J2EE and Wily Introscope are both pretty popular with Weblogic, and
I think they both do a good job of what they do.

    Hello All!
I need help! I am trying to find out which of the tools is better
suited for me to be able to do performance testing of an application
    under load.
I am looking for a tool that can provide me detailed application
performance metrics. Seems like both Insight and Perform Assure can do
    this job for me.
If any of you have had experience with using performance tools such as
Prescise Insight or Sitraka's Perform Assure I would appreciate any
input you might have on your usage experience of these tools.
Also if you know of any other tools that might provide similar
information such as the above tools, that would be really helpful.
    Thanks a bunch!
    Neil.

  • Looking for a simple discussion tool for my portal

i don't want to use the collaboration server since it is added way to many extra nobs and configuration. Also Collaboration Server 4.0 will expose my list of users to everyone which i do not want to happen.
So i am looking for a portlet or set of portlet that will allow me to host discussions on my portal. I want something simple for the users to use and something with good security.
Has anyone implemeneted such a portlet?

    Hi Michael,
If your issues with collaboration or simply issues with the collaboration UI, I'd encourage you to look at using the new EDK PRC Collaboration APIs. You can use these APIs along with Collaboration 4.0.1 to make you own portlets leveraging the Collab Service. As a result you can built your own portlets powered by the collaboration discussion enginer. Some developer docs here:

  • Looking for a J2EE documentation tool

    Hello.
Before I create this from scratch, I wanted to check if something was already available.
I'm trying to create a page that displays the flow of our application's various service calls. The things I want to capture is the reason for the call, the conditions in which it's called, dependencies on other service calls, etc. Each service call would probably have sample request/response XML attached. Also, it would be nice if developers could post new flows or update existing ones.
Does anyone know if there's an open source tool that would help with this?
    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Thanks for the help. But I think I'm an idiot. Can't help you there.
All the UML diagrams I've used are not web-enabled or
easily shared editable. Diagrams? No. But what about the tools that generate them?
JUDE community edition can render a model as HTML images that you can post on the web. Read-only, of course. But I think that's most likely all you'll need. I doubt that you'll want to have multiple people with simultaneous, free-for-all access to a design. Where I come from, we call that a "whiteboard".
So I'm not sure where to go from here...You never said what tools you've looked at or what you're really trying to accomplish. What's the problem you're trying to solve?

  • Looking for limits and comparison on UCCE vs UCCX for 300-400 agents cc

    Hello all,
I am trying to find some comparison and qualifying info for my client who currently have under 300 agents and may go to 400 agents max.  They have CUCM, IPCC 7.x and CVP all redundant etc.
I need some facts and documents to support if UCCX can (if it can) support upto 400 or so agents.  I am neutral however I would like my client to lookinto this if it makes long term sense and short term ease in support.  They only have about 20 or so call flows with limited data dips and screen pops.  May be refreshing CM 4.x to 7.x soon along with icm, cvp etc.
I apprecite any quick feedback.  You are welcome to send me direct at [email protected] as well.
    Many thanks in advance.

Well UCCX supports 150 agents on a 7845 in either HA or in normal operation.  So your already at 2-3 clusters of UCCX.  The pricing for UCCE won't be much different.  If they aren't going to grow much you could consider System CCE, but at the cost they are looking at having to spend regardless you might as well go UCCE / CVP in my book.  IP IVR isn't even much cheaper anymore..
    Cheers,
    Chad

  • Rebuilding / reinstall of Leopard, looking for a software inventory tool

    Hi,
I have been running A iMac from a tiger install then upgraded over the past 2 years and looking at doing a reinstall of leopard. However I want to make sure I don't loose any of my paid applications and there keys.
Is there a software inventory tool that will tell me what is installed, and possibly the install. EG windows belarc advisor use to provide this type of info.
Also when I do the re-install will the bootcamp partition be effected.
Is there a URL providing tips on doing a machine rebuild, as I couldn't find one in the discussion groups.
    Thanks
    Chris

    O. OK. I would suggest waiting for Snow Leopard, but if you want to rebuilt now....
Go to the Apple on the top left of your screen, and select About This Mac. Select More Info. In System Profiler, on the left, scroll down to Software and select Applications. It will give you a list of every Application installed. You can click on one to get more info. If you want to keep this report, go to File > Save and save the report to the destination of your liking.
