Add-ons Manager shows WOT installed & enabled, but toolbar says it's disabled

I tried toggling "disable"-"enable, removed WOT, closed Firefox, then installed again. No change.
The list, below, of probable plug-ins, shows some I don't have, doesn't list some I do.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.
See "Corrupt extension files":
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons
If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also delete possible addons.json and addons.sqlite files.
You can also check for problems with preferences.

  • My java plugin is "there" but doesn't seem to be allowing. I checked it in the "add-ons Manager" and it's enabled so what's up?

using firefox 4.0.1 and cannot access java plugins

Oracle has a Java test page you could use to make sure it is enabled (note that it takes 10-20 seconds to start up the first time):
    http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp
If that works but you are having problems with a particular site, could you provide more information?
Note that ''JavaScript'' is a different beast than a Java applet. JavaScript is interpreted by Firefox directly and can be managed using options and the NoScript add-on.

  • I want to disable plugins, which i can do through add-ons manager, but every time i restart firefox they are enabled again

When i disable plugins firefox runs faster. I could uninstall the plugins, but i periodically want to use them. I have tried using click to play but i want some plugins to run automatically.
I want to disable selective plugins and have some enabled. When i do this via add-ons manager, all plugins are enable on restarting firefox.

i don't use any cleanup tools & MSE is my security software, which is rather unobtrusive and shouldn't interfere here...
i currently have one blocklisted plugin (see screenshot), but if i remember it correctly the problem was already present in my case before i had the outdated acrobat plugin installed.
sometimes when you enable/disable a plugin in the addons manager & press f5 afterwards, it immediately switches back to its old state/sometimes it will stay on the new state until a restart of the browser & in some cases it will remember the state even across sessions - it's just not working reliably in any way.
as far as i can observe the pluginreg.dat file in my profile folder the change of a plugin's state isn't written to the file as soon as it's toggled in the UI during a session, but only when the browser is getting closed - so the information has to be in the memory somewhere before and might be getting corrupted. i suspect it might be a general bug but i cannot reproduce it reliably .
''edit: forgot to attach the screenshot & i'm using the current aurora build''

  • After automaticly updated to the version 7 the extensions page in the Add-ons Manager went blank and give this sentence "you don't have any add-ons of this type installed" but all the add-ons still working in the program

  • Updating Flash Player Does Not Reflect In Add-Ons Manager or Plug-In Check

The add-ons Manager shows I have Flashplayer version 11.3.300.265. The Plug-ins Check shows there is an update, and I downloaded and installed Flash Player version 11.3.300.268. Six times! Each time, the installation shows as successful on the Adobe site, but FF14 does not reflect the new version, and the Plug-in check continues to insist that the version is out of date.
I had no problems whatsoever updating to the latest Flashplayer version in IE (8). But FF is once again giving me trouble with this.
In addition, the add-ons manager shows a version of Flash 9.0.45.0, last updated Feb 20, 2007. There's a big red warning that it's out of date. This is in addition to Shockwave Flash (the correct one) and Shockwave for Director (which is current). It's been like this for awhile, and I disabled the antique version of Flash and it does not affect FF or Flashplayer performance.
I tried deleting my plug-ins database, but I just get all the same info when it is rebuilt. Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated.

Such old version are usually located in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
You can enable the plugin and verify the path on the about:plugins page.
You can set the plugin.expose_full_path pref to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:plugins
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
    See "Manually uninstalling a plugin":

My add-ons still appear to be installed and working, but I can't install more, or uninstall, or configure them.

Try forcing Firefox to rebuild the list of installed add-ons.
    # Open the profile folder, for details of how to access it see the [[profiles]] article.
    # Close Firefox, then delete extensions.sqlite (you can also delete extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.rdf if they exist)
When you restart Firefox the list of installed add-ons should be rebuilt.
If that did not work, you may have an add-on that is causing the problem, try the options in the [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article.
If you type '''about:addons''' into the location bar does that bring up the list of add-ons? I have seen a blank add-ons list if Mr Tech Toolkit add-on is installed, accessing the add-ons manager by typing about:addons in the location bar is a workaround with that add-on installed. The author of that add-on is working on an update.

  • Add-ons Manager Says Java Needs Update, But Latest Version Already Installed

I have Java version SE7 U51 10.51.2.13 installed and working fine. Today I "upgraded" to FF 28.0. Now the Add-Ons Manager says Java is out-of-date, but when I go to the Java website, this is the very latest version available. I downloaded both the 32- and 64-bit versions anyway (though I had already installed them a month ago) and re-installed both. The FF Add-Ons Manager still has same warning: "Vulnerable- Update Now!" The Java Test page says I have the latest version, and it works.
So what the heck to do?

Never mind- found the answer. It's the same old silly runaround between Firefox and Oracle. The Firefox link send you to the wrong Java version (outdated) and you have to find the correct Oracle webpage that now has Java version 8 (actually v.1.8.0 plug in 11.0.2.132) and download and install THAT. It would be nice if this were simpler...

  • After updating Firefox to 5.0.1 the add-ons Manager did not show any of my add-ons, although they were all running.

After updating Firefox to 5.0.1 the add-ons Manager did not show any of my add-ons, although they were all running. Several restarts of Firefox, even with the add-ons disabled did not bring them back. I then installed another add-on and after restarting, all of the previous add-ons are now shown in the manager.
Running on Mac 10.5.8. Add-ons installed:
Adblock Plus, Add-on Compatibility reporter, Ant Video Downloader, Forecastfox, Google toolbar, Reload Every, Session Manager, and Steep and Cheap Watcher.
Note: the troubleshooting information was taken after the problem was fixed. Prior to fixing the issue, there were no items under the Extensions heading. Add-on Compatibility Reporter was the add-on that was added to restore all of the other add-ons, even though it was already installed.

'''Good to know you solved your own problem by simply installing another extension''', I like solutions that aren't going to cause extra work, or loss of data.
Here is what people normally have to do for missing extensions, as if not installed.-- <br>https://support.mozilla.com/questions/826729

FWIW, renaming or deleting extensions.sqlite and the other files beginning with "extensions." causes the files to be rebuilt from the extensions directory, so nothing is lost, but they will be restored in alphabetical order.
I've solved places.sqlite problems by simply restoring a bookmarks backup, or creating a bookmarks backup and restoring that rather than face loss of history.
Please mark as solved so others will see your answer when looking for solved problems as solutions to there own or other people's problems.

  • "Show release notes" fails in Add-ons Manager

Prior to manually updating extensions the "Show Release Notes" option fails with an error message. I always like to know what changes are going to be implemented before updating.
This has been occurring on every update of every extension for the last few months under FF28. FF29 has not fixed it.

I just tried a manual Addons -> Extensions update and got an update for [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/ Adblock Plus]. When I checked Recent Updates, The release notes were accessible (see attached).
<s>Maybe the release notes only show up AFTER an update?</s>EDIT: I just checked in another profile I had set to manually update addons. The release notes for Adblock Plus could also be viewed before installing the available update. Honestly, I've never even looked at that option in the Add-ons Manager
You didn't furnish the error message you saw and you didn't include any troubleshooting information showing your installed addons (see [[Use the Troubleshooting Information page to help fix Firefox issues]] for future reference). What you should probably do is visit the webpage for the add-on to see what updates are available.

  • Why does Firefox add-ons manager install old version of LastPass?

After using Chrome in MS Windows for four years I have recently been considering a return to Firefox as my primary web browser.
After installing Firefox v26.0 my first requirement was to get the LastPass add-on, which I did via Firefox's "Add-Ons Manager". I signed in to my LastPass account and all should now have been well.
Not quite. Whenever I launched Firefox and logged in to LastPass, Firefox would hang for about a minute. The same occurred when I updated or created a LastPass record.
Then I checked the version of the LastPass plug-in: 2.0.20, built 2013-02-08. That's from eleven months ago!
I tried the update feature on the LastPass add-on menu, but it did nothing, so I went to LastPass.com and downloaded the latest version (3.0.12, built 2013-12-03). After a restart all was indeed well.
I had the exact same experience with Firefox on Linux, by the way.
Question: Why does the Firefox Add-Ons Manager point to an extremely out-of-date version of the LastPass Toolbar? Is this the fault of the Mozilla team or of LastPass themselves?
Whoever is at fault, it must be corrected and soon. I very nearly gave up on my switch back to Firefox because of this. I'm sure others will have had the same experience.

hello Jesse_Penny, thanks for your insight - according to [https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2014/01/08/add-ons-update-42/ public information] from mozilla's addons team, reviews for updated addons at addons.mozilla.org currently take around 5 days - so i don't know if this would warrant pulling out of AMO, which causes the issues the question owner has described...

The error means that an add-on called yoono is having problems communicating with a component made by Microsoft. I spoke to somebody with experience in working with the firefox coding, and he said that they're likely to be different issued and to see if yoono or another extension is causing the problems by opening firefox in safe mode. To open firefox in safe mode, [[Safe Mode|click here]]. If you can get to the addon manager there, I recommend you get rid of yoono
