Looking for simple labview program to handle photographs

I need to produce a program to allow a user to start a slideshow of images, and also to be able to click on an individual image and make it full screen. I am using Labview 7.1.1 on XP. Any example code would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Howard,
I have put together a slide show program which I use for my own presentations.  However, it is in version 8.x and not in good enough shape that I would want to post it.
The program is a Producer/Consumer architecture.  The producer loop has an event structure which monitors button presses (Value Change events) and mouse down on the thumbnail picture display.  Consumer state enum values are enqueued in each event case.  The consumer state machine has states: Next, Previous, Display, GoTo, Timed, Marker, Idle (default), Pause, Timer, Halt.  Next, Previous, GoTo, and Timed simply set the index to an array of images.  Prior to entering the loop the user is prompted to select a folder or directory containing the images to be used. A string array of the file names is parsed and converted to paths.  (When I revise this the next time, this may stay path datatype rather than string to path.  The file read may move inside the state machine in an Init case.)  In the display state the index set above is used to select an image file from the array. I check the extension and select the Read JPEG File or Read PNG File VI to open the image.  Property nodes do some scaling and zooming.  The image is displayed two places. One is a thumbnail (about 200x300 pixels) on the control panel.  The second is a full screen image in a Display subVI.  This is set to occupy the second monitor (the projector) and fill the screen.
The Timed mode updates the display periodically.  The user can set the delay.  A Pause/Resume button is available.  In the Manual mode large Next and Previous buttons and the Go To button allow the operator to navigate through the file list.  The array of filenames is displayed for the user along with the currently displayed filename and the next filename.  A large Elapsed Time indicator helps keep the operator on schedule. (I have been known to talk too much).
The Marker state allows the operator to click on the thumbnail image and place a circle (oval) at that point on both images.  The position is detected at the mouse down event via property nodes.  The operator can change the size of the circle, the thickness of the line, and the color.  I am color blind and find the red laser pointers many people use to be nearly invisible. This marker approach is stable (no wavering hands holding the pointer) and the contrast and size is adjustable.  I usually use black circles with a line width of 4 pixels as default.

  • Test PC performance for certain LabView program

    Hello,
I am interesting in how to check minimum PC performance for certain LabView program?
    Thanks

I would say to look up the requirements for the RunTime Engine.  If you think you need more processing power, increase your requirements some.

  • Small Company looking for a LabVIEW consultant (remote consultant welcome)

    Hello,
We are a small company looking for a LabVIEW consultant.  This is about a 3-6 month project.  The consultant must be familiar with NI hardware product as well.  Please send me your resume/CV.  In your email please state the following: years of experience, educational background, your hourly requirements, your location, and the amount of time you will be able to provide.
Please removes spaces on the email below.
    int e g r at e d devi c e s @ yah oo. c o m

I'm not sure if this is frequent on the NI forums, since I believe NI validates user information prior to issuing an account that allows them to post to the forum.  But usernames (like mine) don't provide immediate identifications; you have to ask for it.
Apparently Job Scams have become more frequent.  See the list of tips on the following site, (I have no relationship with this site.  It just came up in a google search).

5 Steps to Take Before Applying for a Job
    1. Email - the company to get information about the job. Do not provide any personal information to them upfront.
    2. Phone - speak to an official at the company and ask about the job. Be assured that it is legitimate.
    3. Meet - at the company site to assure it is a real company. If you cannot meet, and the company is in your town, drive by to see the facility, (possibly using google maps to view the site).
    4. Verify - see if you can find a person who has worked at the company or call a Chamber of Commerce of Better Business Bureau to assure the legitimacy of the company. Search online for legitimate information about the company, search online for any complaints of non-legitimacy.  State Entity sites typically have the name of the company and how long they have been in business.
    5. Apply - once you are assured the company is legitimate, it is safe to apply; but you should still not supply highly personal information like bank accounts until you are officially hired.

If your needs are limited to those tasks then both Preview and iPhoto will fit the bill They are already on your Mac. There is a free download from Google called Picasa available here:
    http://picasa.google.com/
It works much the in same manner as iPhoto. For some really heavy duty work there is GIMP available from SourceForge:

  • Looking for a Maps program for Cloud for Customer

    Hello,
I'm looking for a maps program like Microsoft Bing Maps for SAP ByDesign that is compatible with Cloud for Customer. In the process of finding this forum, I can see Cloud for Customer and Business by Design are related but are these program compatible?
Is there any documentation confirming these programs are compatible? A how to for matching them up?
Is there an alternative that I could use with Cloud for Customer to achieve the same thing?
    Thanks,
    Gabriel

"SAP has updated to HTML5 interface and now has Google Map integration and that we now have it enabled."
It looks like this has worked out, thanks everyone.

  • Looking for a labview virtual instrument program we can modify

Hi, I’m looking for a canned labview virtual instrument program we can modify for the OMB DAQ 55 from Omega to measure three temps and control three DO.  I have the driver at:ftp://ftp.omega.com/public/DASGroup/products/OMB-DAQ5455&56/ The driver is labviewpdaq5xsetup.exe. I have the OMB DAQ 55 from http://www.omega.com/pptst/OMB-Daq55.html  with a USB interface. I am trying to set it up to control a 24V electric valve. I’d like it to measure temperatures (5 separate temps), allow a set point to be programmed for three of them and turn on and off a DO based on the temperature. PID is not required yet. Maybe in the future… We have labview 7.1 and 8.0 but my colleague prefers 7.1  Do you have an labview VI programs that you can share that will do this with the DAQ 55? If you have something that will be close, we can modify it. But starting from scratch will likely mean we can not get this done in time for a project test. Simple set point and control is all I’m looking for… I’m new (my colleague knows it better than me, but has less time) to labview and do not have the resources to learn it from scratch to figure this out. Is there something you have I could modify? Can you help. Or are there canned programs you have that will do this? Labview is the preferred language. Thanks. Attached is what Omega shared with us, it might help…it’s a screen capture from a similar program, but far from the mark.

    Hi vestel,
These discussion forums are more geared for questions - not necessarily having everyone else code for you.
You have a few options if you want code.
    1) Look at the shipping examples that come with LabVIEW.  This will give you a starting point from which to ask questions.
    2) Look at the Instrument Driver Network that exits on National Instrument's Web site.  Here are all the Omega instrument drivers listed.
    3) Look at the list of Alliance members who you can pay to develop your code for you.  Look here.
    I hope this helps,

  • Looking for simple line drawing program [Solved]

I am looking for a simple line drawing program with the following features :
command-driven ( line, circle, ellips and such commands)
used commands need to be exportable or copyable
    2D
    a canvas with arbitrary size
libreoffice Draw, Koffice Karbon and xfig are not suitable for this.
I have some experience with Autocad, but no access to that anymore.
    Any suggestions ?

I think TeX can draw alright.

  • Looking for simple waveform filter

I am using E series board using single ended input to collect 16 channels of constant value data, (ie 10volts). The data has a small amount of noise and outlying data points which I need to remove. I am attempting to implement a simple low pass filter. I attempted the Buterworth and FIR filters. The code I have attempted based upon the help examples unbundles the waveforms, filters the data, and rebundles the waveforms. This produces a discontinuous waveform when ploted. Addtionally the filtered data looks like a sine wave with an amplitude ranging between zero and the bias of the constant input data dependent upon the input parameters fo the filter. I'm looking for an example code that filters a constant signal with outlying da
ta points and small amount of noise. I cannnot use a average because the outlers are all on one side of the average value and will bias my data.
    Thanks for the assistnance

    Brian,
Can you try a running average using shift registers? With this, if the latest point is over x% outside of the running average, then do not include it. Since your signal is "constant," then frequency filters will probably not help you. See the attached example in LabVIEW 6.0.2. The interesting part of this example is that you need to know what your expected value is. If this is unknown, then one must do a bit of statistics (probably through histogramming) to get an initial average value.

  • Looking for the right program

I would like to make a stop-action movie, essentially a slide show with some rapid frame changes, that has a coordinated sound track.  Which Adobe program, if any, would do this?

That is a pretty big project. I have never used Premiere Pro for only pictures so I don't know how good it will be at this. 3000 pictures/30gigs is a lot of data for a program to handle and organize. And if you also want to add contextual content and audio clips then a lot of easier to use programs just won't cut it. You might really need an Adobe program.
It if was a small onetime project I was going to suggest Corel VideoStudio, but definitely not for the amount of data you want to use. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC88QA7xyyE. For really small projects Windows Movie Maker would probably do the trick haha.
Most stop-motion software are designed to help you with the actual shooting of the frames, but you already have them. You still might want to look at these two programs to see if they'll work for you.
    http://www.dragonframe.com/
    http://www.stopmotionpro.com/
Just because they might be better at organizing large amounts of pictures then a program designed around editing video.
If Premiere Elements would do the trick I'd say that's a good option, or if it's too limited Premiere Pro. I'd go with the CS6 version, not CC. Because you get to keep a perpetual license so you can continue to use it in the future without monthly payments. But that's my biased opinion against renting software.
This thread should probably be moved to the Premiere Pro section where he can get better help from people who have more experience with using large amounts of pictures to create a movie.
