Lookup conditions in DB lookup Expression

Hi,
Please let me know how to define lookUp conditions in DB lookup Expression.
I'm working on Netweaver ABAP stack 7.0
Thank you,
Anjani.
Edited by: Anjani P on Dec 27, 2009 3:13 PM

Hello Anjani,
I assume you are using NetWeaver 7.00 not Netweaver7.01. In Netweaver7.00 BRFplus has no UI available so you have to work with the APIs only. In IF_FDT_DB_LOOKUP interface there is a method SET_FIELD_CONDITIONS which has a field condition table as its input. You may set the lookup condions using this method.
If you are using NetWeaver 7.01 or 7.02 you may use the UI for the same.

• Lookup Conditions

Hello.
I have a business requirement where I need to do currency conversions in ETL. We are a global organization. I'm working with two tables. One contains general ledger journal entry line data. This data has amounts recorded in one of 50+ local currencies. I have a second table that contains all historical currency conversion rates to be used to convert any local currency to one of three base currencies. The results should then be loaded into a fact table.
For example, Table A has a journal entry line recorded in Yen. I need to use the currency conversion rate table, Table B, to convert that to US Dollars, Danish Kroner, and Indian Rupee. Those three conversions are each then a column in my fact table. The journal entry has an effective date which represents the date the entry was posted and therefore the date to be used for currency conversion. Furthermore, each row in the currency conversion table has a start and end date that indicates the time period that the currency conversion was valid. These start and end dates are not necessarily the same, so I need to lookup the conversion based on the following:
Table_A.Local_Currency_Type = Table_B.Local_Currency_Type
and
Table_A.Effective_Date >= Table_B.Start_Date
and
Table_A.Effective Date <= Table_B.End_Date
The results should return the Base Currency Type and the conversion rate from local to one of the three base currencies, one each for USD, DKK and INR base currencies. So for every one row of input 3 rows should be found.
I'm using OWB 10.2.0.2.8 and see that I can't edit the lookup condition in the mapping editor.
So, two questions: 1. Does a newer version of OWB allow for editing the lookup condition? 2. Can any of you provide guidance on alternative solutions for this issue?
Thanks for your time.

Hi, Scott.
The only reason I considered the lookup was that I hadn't fully thought my design through. After a few more hours (ugh) I was able to redesign with a JOINER.
Thanks for the feedback.

• Losing Lookup Condition after import

For transferring a project from development to test (and later production) we're using metadata export/import.
After import into the 'test repository' we noticed that in a mapping the Lookup Condition of several Key Lookups are missing, in fact these Key Lookups are all using the same Table definition.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
And, of course, is there a cure?
We're using
Warehouse Builder 9.0.3.37.0
Repository 9.0.3.0.1
Oracle db. 9.2.0.2.1
Regards,
Peter van Leeuwen

We resolved this issue.
The problem occurs when table names are long. The original table names was 27 characters long. In a mapping we have 3 lookups all based on the same table.
We lost the lookup condition in 2 cases, that is project export/import (from Development to Test) and copy mapping.
We solved the problem by shortening the table name.

• List of Like condition from one Lookup table.

Hi,
I have 2 tables.
SourceData table and LookUp table .
SourceData table has one column called SName
SName
Jayesh Krishnan
Karthik Kumar
Liju Sharma
Kumar Jayesh
Kumar Pradeep
Lookup table has one column called LName(Lookup table is the one which is required to look up with "like" condition)
LNamne
Kumar%
%Krishnan
I need to query SourceDate table with the like condition mentioned in lookup table.
So my result based on above two tables should look like
Jayesh Krishnan
Kumar Jayesh
Kumar Pradeep
Please help me in this regard.

Try this,
create table sourcetable (SName varchar(200))
insert into sourcetable values('Jayesh Krishnan')
insert into sourcetable values('Karthik Kumar')
insert into sourcetable values('Liju Sharma')
insert into sourcetable values('Kumar Jayesh')
insert into sourcetable values('Kumar Pradeep')
create table lookuptable (LName varchar(200))
insert into lookuptable values('Kumar%')
insert into lookuptable values('%Krishnan')
go
declare @sql nvarchar(max)
declare @temp table ([where] nvarchar(max))
declare @where nvarchar(max)
set @sql = 'SELECT Substring(COLS,4, LEN(COLS)) FROM (
SELECT Stuff((SELECT '' OR SName like '''''' + LName + ''''''''
FROM lookuptable
FOR xml path('''')), 1, 1, '''') COLS
) X'
insert into @temp exec sp_executesql @sql
select @where = [where] from @temp
set @sql = 'SELECT * FROM sourcetable WHERE ' + @where
exec sp_executesql @sql
go
drop table sourcetable
drop table lookuptable

• How to pass one lookup value to another lookups

Hi All,
I've two relational sources with a join condition, added lookup and kept join condition too.I've to pass this lookup value to another lookup.
let me know how we can handle this in odi.
Thanks

If you don't use "expression in the SELECT clause" option, why don't you simply drag and drop your file datastores in your canvas and do a standard join?
The result will be the same.
See here for more details : Re: Lookup Vs Join

• ASA9.1 how to use route-lookup instead of "NAT-lookup" for egress interface on non-identity NAT

Hi,
I have an ASA firewall with three interfaces, inside, outside and Link.
I have a situation where I need the ASA to perform the following nat rules:
from "Inside" to "Link" - any source to destination 192.168.51.0/24 - translate source to 10.0.0.19
from "inside" to "outside" - any source to any destination - translate source to "interface" (internet navigation)
from "inside" to "outside" any source to 192.168.51.0/24 - translete source to 10.0.0.17
This is what I am trying to get working:
nat (any,TEF) source dynamic any 130.130.0.19_nat destination static obj_192.168.51.0 obj_192.168.51.0
nat (any, outside) source dynamic any 130.130.0.17_nat destination static obj_192.168.51.0 obj_192.168.51.0
The problem is that the "outside" route to 192.168.51.0 is an alternative route over a VPN tunnel. I'm using sla monitor, so when the "Link" interface is out, the route table changes the network 192.168.51.0/24 to be reachable over the outside interface. but ASA is using the NAT rule to perform "egress interface lookup" instead of route-lookup.
I know about the command route-lookup on the NAT configuration, but I need to translate the source address and when I try to use the route-lookup command I get an error message:
ERROR: Option route-lookup is only allowed for static identity case
Anybody has some suggestion?
Thanks

Hi Julio,
Thank you for the reply.
It didn't work either.
Here are the options I get when I use the specific interfaces (using "source dynamic"):
configure mode commands/options:
description Specify NAT rule description
inactive Disable a NAT rule
net-to-net Net to net mapping of IPv4 to IPv6
service NAT service parameters
If I try to use source static:
nat (inside,TEF) source static inside_nat 130.130.0.19_nat destination static obj_192.168.51.0 obj_192.168.51.0 route-lookup
ERROR: Option route-lookup is only allowed for static identity case

• Lookup Flat Table and Lookup Qualifier Table

Hi,
Can any body confirm that if I will change the type of lookup-flat type field to lookup-qualifier type field. But the structure of Lookup Flat table and Lookup Qualifier table will be the same then the Java code written to populate the lookup-flat type field will work without any changes with its new type (lookup-qualifier).
Right now when I run the code after the above said changes, no error comes but no values is assigned to that field.
Another way to ask this question, can a simple Qualifier Lookup table(without having any qualifier type field) be used as like Lookup flat table.
I would appreciate if any body can help me in this regard ASAP.
Regards
Shahid Nadeem

Hi Alok,
I think this Qualifier importing after main table import is quite trickier that you estimate.
1)Map all the fields of qualified table with source fields whther they are qualifiers or non-qulaifiers.
- we will only be able to view the Non Qualifier field in the qualified table.
2)Now the main step is when you finish all field and value mapping there will be also a Target field name on your qualified table with values of display field. this field must be mapped to a source field to import qualified table. do value mapping also.
- This target field is the linkup field you are talking abot i feel, and it is viewed only in the main table and, as i have only on one non- qualifier this will not be a combination of any display fields.
3)I am not abl eto see the Non -Qualifier in my main table
So how do i proceed.
Kindly guide
Thanks

• Differenct between Lookup Error Output and Lookup No Match Output

Hi All
I'm new in SSIS and reading book for SSIS and unable to understand the difference between Lookup Error Output and Lookup No Match Output in Lookup transformation. Are these terms same or is there any difference between them ?. Please guide
Thanks
Regards
Muz

Nope. Error output is more generic ie any errors happening inside lookup can be redirected to error output by default. This includes lookup match failures as well as data conversion error, truncation error etc. Upto SSIS 2005 this was the only output available
in addition to match output inside lookup so if you want to capture unmatched rows you had to redirect them to error output itself.
But from SSIS 2008 onwards they've introduced one more output called no match output. This gives you ability to redirect only no matched rows through no match output so that you'll be able to distinguish between unmatched rows and other error rows.
You can configure this option inside Specify how to handle rows with no matching entries option in Lookup Editor. You can choose Ignore Failure,
Redirect rows to no match output,Redirect rows to error output etc as options

• RFC lookup - Error executing simple lookup

Hi guys,
Something weird is happening.
I'm using a RFC lookup to get some parameters and I'm using the same generic UDF that I usually take on different projects.
But this time I'm getting the following error:
com.sap.aii.mappingtool.tf3.MessageMappingException: Runtime exception during processing target field mapping /ns0:Messages/ns0:Message1/MessageStatus/StatusInformation/Status. The message is: Exception:[java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException] in class com.sap.xi.tf._mmEOrdersRetailRequest_ method SAPRFCLookup$[RFC_Receiver_LookUp_SAP, MARA, MATNR EQ '000000000000000123
' , VPSTA, TST002, com.sap.aii.mappingtool.tf3.rt.Context@1f231f23]
Do you have any idea?
I've commented my RFCLookup code and the error jumps up on the getRfcAccessor line.
try {
// 1. Determine a channel (Business system, Communication channel)
com.sap.aii.mapping.lookup.Channel channel = com.sap.aii.mapping.lookup.LookupService.getChannel(BusinessService,CommChannel);
// 2. Get a RFC accessor for a channel.
accessor = com.sap.aii.mapping.lookup.LookupService.getRfcAccessor(channel);
The channel is well created on the IDirectory, associated with the correct BusinessSystem. I can check on the CommunicationChannel Monitoring that the channel opens the JCO connection correctly..
However if I change this RFCLookup by a JCOLookup everything works smoothly...
I've done this thousand times but now I'm not able to get the problem...
Can you guys help?

• Lookup Field with a Lookup Query on Process Form in OIM 11gR2

Does anyone know how to render a field on a process form so that when modifying the field for the resource a "Search and Select" window appears and allows the user to search for the value based on the lookup query defined for the field in Design Console? The lookup field has been defined as a lookup query through Design Console and tested by previewing the form in DC. When creating the Form through OIM System Administration the field is created as a Text Field, not a Lookup. Creating a new Field through OIM System Administration only allows you to create the field using a lookup code not using a lookup query. I've tried to remove / add the field in the UI (create sandbox, customize, etc.) and add it back as a Input LOV but it doesn't get added and the error in the logs say java.lang.RuntimeException: Input LOV is not supported for this attribute, please make this attribute searchable in order to drop this as an input LOV. The field is defined as searchable in the Form Designer in OIM System Administration. In fact I can't even add it back as an ADF Input Text Field w/ Label, I suspect I'll have to "Regenerate" the form to even get it back on the form. Any help is appreciated. Next step is to try to export the sandbox, massage and import.
Thanks,
Ryan

Finally got an answer out of Oracle after trying to figure this out as well. Apparently Lookup Queries are not supported at all by the R2 Web UI. They indicate that according to product management this will not be fixed.

I am performing malware clould lookup using FirePOWER on ASA. I see the file event when I transfer the file, but the FireSIGHT is unable to submit the file SHA-256 for cloud lookup. It times out. The FireSIGHT management IP is able to access the Internet.
Does the malware cloud lookup need some subscription for it to work? I am running this in a lab setup with malware license.
What could be the reasons for this lookup failure. Due to this, the file disposition is 'unavailable'
Another related question. If my file policy action is to BlockMalware, and if the file disposition comes as unknown or unavailable, will the file be transferred or blocked?
Appreciate any help.

• Can lookup be skiped if lookup file is not present

Not within the same mapping. You can, for example, check the existence of the flat file using a command task (or a tricky combination of event raise / event wait and timer tasks) and then either execute one mapping or the other, but "skipping" the LKP within a mapping is not possible. Regards,Nico

Hi, I am using a database src to flat file mapping with a lookup transformation(on flat file) in between the source and target file. Src --> Lkup --> Target Sometimes lookup file is not present and IS fails the session as it doesn't find the file. My question is that is it possible if in case there are zero rows fetched from the source then it skip the lookup and generate the empty target file. Please provide the solution. Thanks in advance. Regards,Navi

• APIs for Country lookup values and Timezone lookup values

Hi,
We are developing a J2EE application for remote user management in EP.
We want to query the lookup values for country and timezone (required when we create user). Are there any APIs that would return these values when called from our J2EE application?
Also let me know if there are any workarounds?
Thanks and regards,
Pratik H. Thakkar

Hi Guys,
By using Java API, I got 239 countries on Windows 2K professional. Whereas in EP there are 233 countries. Also the names are not matching for eg: American Samao is missing in my local machine.
Please help.

• (no inline validation error displayed)) condition type and plsql expression

Hello all
Is it possible to use a plsql expression (eg: (:REQUEST = 'PXX_LIST_ITEM')) AND (no inline validation error displayed)) condition type at the smae time ?
HTMLDB must be testing a substitution variable when the conditional display section is set to 'no inline validation errors displayed'.

Hello,
I don't know for sure because I never used it, but I think you can use the pl/sql variable htmldb_application.g_inline_validation_error_cnt. This variable identifies number of inline errors found.
You can also check if the variable htmldb_application.g_notification contains a value.
Fred.
