Looping a short animated gif over the length of a movie ?

Hello,
I hope I have a good question here.
How would you suggest looping a very simple 3 frame .gif animation over the entire length of a 3 minute video ?
I have placed the gif animation on the timeline, and then positioned it as I want it to be, however, simply copy and pasting the video over and over again doesn't work, and adding it again from my bin, places the animation in the middle of my video, which is not where I want it.
Thank you for any suggestions on how to go about this.
Dave.

You could try putting the overlay in a separate sequence with position etc as you wish, then make another sequence of several loops of the first sequence, and then use the longer version on the main timeline.

  • Animated Gif over Flash document?

    Hi folks,
    Quick question here ...
    Is it possible to overlay an animated gif on top of a flash banner?
    I have an html page, where I want to re-work our main banner with flash elements, but would like to place our existing animated gif over the right hand part of the background banner.
    Hope that makes sense?
    Kind Regards,
    Cal

    ... thanks Ned!
    Just knowing that it's possible is encouraging, so I'll be sure to dabble with your suggestion over the festive season, otherwise, I'd have to learn how to combine several flash motions in flash at one time, where that could certainly fry my brain "cell"  lololol
    All the best.

  • Viewing animated GIFs in the Finder and Preview

    I was wondering why my animated gif images do not play while I view them in the preview in the Finder or Preview. I know it plays when I view gifs in Explorer and was wondering why doesn't the Finder/Preview.
    I would really like to be able to view the animated gifs without having to open either Safari or Fire Fox to view them.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Discussions.
    Apparently Preview lost that functionality a few versions ago. And Quicklook also doesn't seem to do it. Someone said that Pathfinder plays them, http://www.cocoatech.com.
    If you don't want to use a "big" program like Safari or Quicktime, then your best bet is to use a quick and easy image viewer like Xee http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/xee.html.
    Set it as default application by selecting a gif file, press cmd-I. Choose Xee under Open with and click Change all.

  • Import animated GIF on the fly

    All the answers I've seen for this one are old so I'm hoping
    it has changed. If not ... GET WITH IT ADOBE! :)
    Can I load an animated GIF into a SWF on the fly (loadMovie)
    and get it to be animated? I know it seems to load just the first
    frame in but is there anyway of programming or anything in AS to
    make it put each frame into a Flash Frame?

  • Animation - when-mouse-move/enter or inserting an animated gif into the form

    expecting some animation on oracle forms, eg. say if i move my mouse into the command button, it could change color(fr black to red). any idea? thank u.

    In client server you can use the when-mouse-enter trigger to do that.
    On the web you can use PJC like the sample "Browse RolloverButton PJC" you have on the sample code section of forms on otn.
    On the web you can also embed animated gifs onto buttons as labels.

    This worked for me.  You did remember to register the OCX, correct?
    One problem I see is that it doesn't autosize and doesn't tell you what the size of the image is, so unless you know the size prior, you're goign to have to get the image attributes elsewhere.

    Yes, I did (although not immediately... )
    How did you get the "AnimatedGif" automation refnum ?

  • Reducing the length of my movie

    I finally discovered why i couldnt upload it onto yOu tube despite the fact I THOUGHT i had trimmed the length from an hour to about 5 mins(in fact two clips left on the clips viewer).I moved all the others back onto the clips pane ,i clicked *save as* gave it a new title but it took an age to complete and I realised it was saving all the clips i removed except they were not there.When i played back the shortened movie the playhead carried on moving to the right after it had crossed both clips as if the the clips i removed were still there.
    Can someone please advise me .Many thanks

    iMovie 6 uses nondestructive editing, so even if you trimmed back your movie to a shortened version, iMovie still keeps all the clips used in the movie, saving them in their entirety. If you use only 4 seconds of a 10 minute clip, iMovie keeps the entire 10 minute clip.
    If you want to keep just the clips that are actually in the movie, 'share' your shortened iMovie as Quick Time 'Full Quality' and save it to a convenient place such as the desktop.
    Once that has been created, open a new iMovie and drag that new quicktime movie clip into it. Your movie will be one long clip.
    But now, this iMovie contains only that quicktime clip and no others.
    It will be shorter.

  • My Photos Are All Over The Place Can I Move Them?

    Hi...
    After numerous Exports and Imports...  My images are all over the place on my Hard Drives.  Is there a way I centralize them and have Lr4 move them into a central place so I don't need to hunt them down all the time?
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Yes you can do that within Lightroom. I recommend you look at Julianne Kosts Lightroom videos on AdobeTV regarding cataloging - they are free.

  • JLabel + Animated GIF: replacing the image

    Hi, folks.
    I've run into what looks like an interesting glitch, not necessarily functionality-wise but purely cosmetic.
    I have a JLabel which needs to be switched between a static image and an animated image at different times of execution. I'm doing this more or less like this:
        private JLabel label = new JLabel();
        private ImageIcon inactiveIcon;
        private ImageIcon activeIcon;
        public MyClass()
            inactiveIcon = Utils.loadIcon(...);
            activeIcon = Utils.loadIcon(...);
            setActive(false);
        public void setActive(boolean active)
            label.setIcon(active ? activeIcon : inactiveIcon);
        }It starts up fine and shows the inactive image, which is not animated.
    However, calling setActive(true) seems to cause a flash of grey before showing any animation. The interesting thing is at this point, the image should be completely loaded, so nothing should be blank for any period of time. The other interesting thing is that calling setActive(false) does not cause the flash of grey.
    I've checked the image to make sure all the frames are present and that none are blank.
    I've tried doing this a number of different ways, by Icon.setImage(Image), also by using two labels and setVisible(boolean).
    Has anyone else seen this before? The particular thing which worries me is there isn't a grey flash going the other way. Otherwise I wouldn't think a workaround existed. :-)

    Update. I changed the code to this:
    label = new JLabel() {
    public void update(Graphics g) {
    paint(g);
    public void paint(Graphics g) {
    paintComponent(g);
    protected void paintComponent(Graphics g) {
    ImageIcon icon = (ImageIcon) getIcon();
    icon.paintIcon(this, g, 0, 0);
    };It still greys out. :-/
    I tried label.setUI(new LabelUI() { ... }) with a
    custom paint method also, and it didn't draw anything
    at all, for either label.I'm not sure if you accounted for this but the paint method in the UI is different then the 'public void paintComponent(Graphics g)' method and paint (Graphics g) method in components. The method is 'public void paint(Graphics g, JComponent c)'. Overwriting 'public void paint (Graphics g)' in a UI, is like defining a new method alltogether.
    Did you also make sure to avoid calling 'super.paintComponent()' when overwriting your 'paintComponent(...)' methods? If you did call it, you aren't preventing drawing of previous shapes. This worked for me when I had to do something similar.
    You could also try to draw your icon in your UI, if you haven't done so already.

  • Editing effects/mixer so that it varies over the length of the track

    hi, i am new to logic and producing in general. is it possible to edit perhaps the eq of a track in real time so that it changes as the song progresses? i am assuming it is possible to do this with the levels, so you could have a track perhaps fade in and out. does anyone care to describe this process or point me in the right direction as to where i would go to look?

    Hi,
    Logic has a lot to offer for this. Go to Help > Logic Express 8 User Manual, and start reading at page 605. The first couple of pages are probably the most interesting for you; just see when it gets boring
    Basically, you can either draw lines that tell Logic to change whatever parameter you want (like the frequency or gain of an EQ plugin), or "record" the knobs you move with your mouse while the song is playing. Anyway, it's all explained on page 605 and further.
    Kind regards,

  • Video converters (or iTunes?) shortens the length of my movie?

    I downloaded Disney Pixar's movie, "Up," & tried to convert it using "Videora" & "Any Video Converter," but everytime it converts, the video is shortened to 36 minutes.  It is orignally one hour & 36 minutes.  I don't know why it does that because when I play the movie in its original format, it's fine.  Is there any way to fix this?

    If on win or lin, try using handbrake it's best out there. I don't know what to use if you have OSX ...

  • Animated GIF loop problem

    I have created a simple roll over effect using an animated
    GIF over 10 frames in Fireworks which increases the fill opacity of
    a button on mouse over. I set the loop to 1 so that the animation
    will play the 10 frames and then stop, but when i export to
    Dreamweaver and preview in browser the loop will not stop.

    I think this is an oversight in functionality.
    I also was never able to get the 'stop' to work.

  • Animated gif looping doesn't work in safari

    I made an animated gif through the animation option in Photoshop (used to use Image Ready, but now use photoshop/animation view).  Anyway, it is a super simple gif with eight frames set to loop twice.  When saved and then put into an HTML page, it loops twice on a PC using IE, and on a Mac, it plays correctly using Firefox, but in Safari it only plays once.  As an experiment, I set it to play once and it "behaves" correctly on all browsers. Similarly, if I set it to  play "forever" -- it behaves as expected on all browsers. BUT, any choice of number of loops cause inconsistency.  In Safari, it always plays one less time than it was "programmed" to play.  Does anybody have any advice on this?
    Thanks.

    I believe there is a way to have two versions of say the gif run the main one and one with three lops and tell you server not to load the first one if it detects safari but to load the second one with the right argument.
    Or try the new Safari 4 just released today.

  • Animated .gif won't loop a specified amount of times

    I created an animated .gif in photoshop and set it to loop twice. It works fine in every other browser except firefox. Here is a test example:
    http://elliottkirby.com/test/
    The box is set to animate across twice. Any thoughts? I tested setting it to loop "forever" and it works in FF...however the ad I'm creating has a loop time limit. I checked my config settings and image animation is set to normal. Thanks!

    From what I understand of your problem;
    - You have made your own animated gifs
    - With the software to make these gifs you have set them to loop their animations 3 times
    - They loop continuously
    I don't see how java can be expected to interpret the animated gif software instructions to loop only 3 times and would assume that there are various proprietry ways of setting this (an assumption based on applets /javascript etc, that rely on the client-side browser interpreter). So, if you loop your animated gif or have any form of animated gif that you import into your program with getDocumentBase /getCodeBase as a (pre-animated) gif, then this is exactly what I would assume would happen.
    The answer is to seperate your images with eg;-
    smiley1[0];
    smiley1[1];
    smiley1[2];
    run a seperate thread, cycle through them as you wish and stop.
    I'm fairly sure that there is nothing in either the swing libraries or the jmf libraries that can resolve this any other way, so your choices are write extra code and have a pool of threads to control this, or leave it as is.

  • Animated Gif won't stop looping!

    I'll try to format my question as best I can.
    I have created a Java chat applet, and for the Java chat, I have created a "ChatPane" class for displaying the chat. ChatPane is an extension of Canvas, and every time the paint() method is called, the program loops through visible lines of text drawing them on a buffer image, then draws the buffer on the screen.
    My problem lies in animated gifs. In my chatroom, chatters can type textual symbols that will be replaced with an image (or emoticon). I have created my animated icons in a popular animated gif editing program, and I have set particular icons to loop 3 times. The problem is that when the animated icon is displayed in my applet, the animation -doesn't stop- after 3 loops, it loops forever! I can't for the life of me figure out why! Can anyone provide any insight as to why the animations won't stop after 3 loops? The animations work just fine if displayed in a browser by themselves (they stop looping after 3 times)
    Thank you for any help!
