Losing Formulas in Planning

Planning 9.3.1, Essbase 9.3.1
I have added YTD rollups to my Time dimension in Planning.
Feb-YTD @SUM(Jan:Feb);
Mar-YTD @SUM(Jan:Mar);
Etc
Issue is that every few days these formulas are erased in Planning and Essbase.
I have tested and they do not erase when I refresh yet wait a couple days and they are gone again.
I have checked the logs with no insight.
Any ideas what I should look for?

Thanks for the reply. I do have DTS enabled and YTD(Mar) gives a year to date total. But user preference is not to have YTD(Mar) on reports so I created the formula member they can select through member selection.
Not sure what you mean about changing the name to anything but Years. My time dimension is Time Periods with Jan-Dec as members. I do have a Years dimension with FY01-FY10 as members.

so ther is no particular formula to plan capacity planning.

Formulas in hyperion planning

hi,
as per i know we can not apply formulas in planning with HAL
how can i apply the formulas in hyperion planning

In versions pre sys 9,
you should use AAS (essbase admin) to set the formula, the member to Dynamic Calc and assign the UDA HSP_UDF. Then go to planning set the member to dyn calc and refresh.
In versions post sys 9,
You can load member formulas into planning using HAL

SYntax error while creating a formula for %

I have to calculate Growth percentage and creating formula. But its giving me a syntax error.
I am writing like this:-
(Month to Date Sales-MTD PRior Year Sales)/ MTD PRior Year Sales*100 %
Can anyone please tell me where I am making a mistake.

Plan Sales % Actual Sales (this will give the percentage deviation between Planned Sales and Actual Sales)
this is identical to formula

BW query conditional formula

Dear SAP Gurus ...
I would like on a BW report create a formula as following
If (characteristic version = B10)
then (Formula 1)
else (Formula 2)
Translate in the BW language it could be something like that :
( 'Planning Version' == 'B10' )
( formula 1 )
+ ( 'Planning Version' <> 'B10' )
( formula 2 )
My issue is that I don't arrive to create condition Version == 'B10' ... I have the impression that we could create condition only on keys figures value but not on characteristic value .
The solution is it only in the user exit ? or could I resolve my issue in the query designer ????

Verizon won't let me keep my plan

Why does Verizon force longtime customer's into their new plans? I've been a long time customer and have been stuck on my old phone for about 4 years because they won't let me keep my unlimited data plan.
If you actually call and try to talk to them about it they just you have to and don't explain why. I'm basically stuck at spending a large amount to get a retail priced phone or lose my plan and pay overcharges. I stream a lot of music and some videos all day (use it at work and in my drives to and from work). So roughly 10 hours a day I'm streaming stuff.
Likely I'll just be forced to join my wife on AT&T. No point on sticking with Verizon if they don't care about their customers.

I agree with SuzyQ on this, AT&T isn't the one, but T-Mo is looking more desirable to me.
I've been a customer of VZ for, well, since they were Bell Atlantic in the Northeast (mid 90's so about 20 years). My first phone was a Motorola Teletac (big grey beast with just led number display) and over the years I've just been sticking with them because they do have the best network. In the last few years I've had a family plan with my wife, her mother and my mother and I pay the bill for all of them. My wife and I both have Unlimited plans and I did recently purchase a Note 3, at full price, to avoid losing my data plan. My wife is ready for a new phone and I'd likely buy her a phone at full price to avoid losing the data plan, but we're thinking about getting our mom's iPhones (my Wife and all my sister in-laws and my sister all have iPhones) so that they can facetime with the grandkids. Here's my problem, if I buy them phones that use data (currently they only have just phones without data) my wife and I lose our unlimited data plans because we have to move to a "share everything plan". I already pay almost $220/month with a significant discount, adding the data for the share everything and enough data for the 4 of us to avoid any overages would spike that price even more and it kills me. I know that T-Mo has less coverage than VZ, but the areas that any of us are ever in are completely covered and the family members that do have T-Mobile all love it. Additionally, the last time my wife and I went on a cruise, her phone turned on accidentally and we got international roaming data charges (don't know why, but it happened). I don't want to have to keep my phone locked up and worry that if I take it out on my next cruise to take some pictures or read a book (yes, reading a book on a Note 3 is convenient) that I'm going to be nailed with roaming charges. This isn't an issue with T-Mo in the Bahamas or most of Europe.
I guess that what I'm saying is that I don't care how much Red is on the coverage map in places I NEVER go to, as long as it is where I do go. And now that T-Mo offers to buy out contracts, having them buy out the one lone contract for a single flip phone that is being replaced with an iPhone anyway is making my decision easier. I know I'm not the only one considering the switch. I just hope that Verizon is willing to do something about an extremely long time customer who just added up that even at $10/month more over 20 years is $2400, but with this move I'm looking at more like $100/month more that I've been paying. All so I can say my phone works where I'm never at, but charges me a lot more for places that I am.

Formula in Query row suppress the formula in Query column

Hi all,
I have a problem that I hope you can help me with.
I have created a query to report the following in the row:
- Units    (reading the data from a cube)
- Gross Sales (reading the data from a cube)
- Discounts   (reading the data from a cube)
- Net sales    (a formula = Gross Sales - Discounts)
- Net sales/units (a formula = Net sales/Units)
In the column, I want to compare 2 version: Plan and Actual. Thus in the column, I have the following:
- Actual (restricted with 0VERSION=001, 0FISCPER=001.2007-012.2007)
- Plan (restricted with 0VERSION=999, 0FISCPER=001.2007-012.2007)
- Actual - Plan (a formula = Actual - Plan)
I do not get the correct result for Net Sales/Units. The reason, for as far I can analyze is because the formula in Row suppress the formula in Column.
Thus what happened:

Use formula collision - in the K concerned right click - select properties and then you will ind a "Formula collision" dropdown in the bottom part - select the appropriate ormula for the same there.

Problem Creating an inter-dimensional formula

Hello,
I'm having a problem creating inter-dimensional formulas in Planning (V11.1.1.3). The formula works fine in Essbase, but not in Planning:
It's for period member YTD Jan (defined as Dynamic Calc):
IF (NOT @ISMBR ("AVG_SALARY")) Jan+BegBalance;ELSEIF (@ISMBR ("AVG_SALARY")) SALARY/"PEOPLE MONTHS";ENDIF
This is the error message I get:
+Error compiling formula for [] (line 1): unknown member name ["AVG_SALARY"] in function [@ISMBR]+
Can anyone help me with this issue?

I will skip the obvious check your syntax stuff. It should work.
Where are you seeing this error?
My only thought is that AVG_SALARY was created after you created the member Jan so it hand not been created in your outline and therefore didn't see it. Try putting it in again after you know that AVG_SALARY exists in the outline.
I copied your formula into an app of mine and it worked fine and validated. So it should work

Is there anyone here with an unlimited data who has,,,,,

1....bought(at full price) a tablet, and switched between the tablet and phone as you would switching two phones without losing your unlimited plan
2....signed up for the 1 month hotspot for $30 (for 1 month only, like say for vacation), and using your unlimited plan with the hotspot, without losing your data plan, of course
i have talked to no less than 8 reps at different times and have gotten yes and no answers equally. it is not so much about trying to see if it works,,,it's about getting the unlimited data plan BACK if they f**k up

I have never called customer service to activate or remove the hotspot feature. If I can do it online, I will use that method before calling. I have had a VZW rep on the forum help me future date a removal once because the website wouldn't let me have the feature removed at the end of the current billing cycle so it wouldn't be on the next billing cycle. That didn't last long so I have kept the hotspot feature activated since then.

Hierarchies displayed with variable (IP & WAD)

Dear Experts.
We are having difficulties in defining value restrictions for (2) hierarchy variables. Unexecptionally all available hierarchies are showing with the hierarchy variables for a given characteristic.
Objective: We are currently building web layouts for planning (with 2 queries per tab page). Now, 2 different hierarchy variables, one for Input and one for Display of queries, are supposed to restrict the listed char. value (rows). We are looking at two sets of hierarchies about 5 each (in total there is about 30 hierarchies on this characteristic).
Background: Within BW-BPS's Web App Builder one had previously an option to use so called "Packages Selection" where planning packages from BPS0 could be defined with different hierarchies underneath a given planning level. Thereby the effect of having filtered a hierarchy selection could be achieved.
Wonder whether there is a way to solve this with the Integrated Planning tools set (QD, WAD)!?

Problem is i need to do some calculations in FM and call this FM using formula type planning function.in that FM i used RSDRI API to write data to cube(is there any way i can write to buffer or display calculated values in input ready query??).
So when i use custom planning function button..it writes data to cube and then if i want it to displayed again as it is not in buffer i used save_web_template standard button, which will show values but not in planning mode(and it gives warning infoprovider is locked).so my input ready is lost.
is there any work around. or is there any way to refresh from the request.
Please provide your inputs for the needful.

HT4972 I am wanting to update my ipad on a computer that is different from when I first purchase my ipad that computer no longer exist. I am still on ios 4 and new to update the ipad. Will I lose everything like it says?

How to retrieve text messages that I mistakenly deleted??(Please help!!)

I've had the Verizon VX8300 for 3 years since 2007 and I have upgraded to the HTC Incredible Droid and received it as a Christmas gift on Christmas morning. When my dad was disconnecting the old phone, I figured that it would be automatically transferable because everything else transferred like my contacts, voice messages, pics, etc. I was looking through old texts and accidentally deleted all of my texts that I've kept for souvenir and they were very memorable and special to me from friends/family. Now I was wondering if there's anyway I can get this data back whether it's getting a printout or using an online free trial of a text message retriever like Asfotech, Bitpim, or Wondershare Data Recovery. I've went to 3 different Verizon stores and none were helpful and didn't even bother looking at my old phone.
PS: I know you need like a court order or a subpoena but that is extremely silly and unnecessary because would I honestly need a court order just to retrieve harmless innocent messages like "What's Up?" or "How's it going, man?". Someone said that Verizon archives the messages and it's my privacy so I should have the right to get a printout of MY messages and it would be so messed up if Verizon wouldn't let someone look at their OWN text messages on their OWN phone if they deleted them on accident. It's not like they would be invading my privacy anyways all they would need to do is print them out without looking at them. I have nothing to hide anyways so it wouldn't be a big deal to me.

I understand what you are saying but whats to say for example the account owner (a parent) decided to have all the messages retrieved for them of their child who is on the account??? Verizon has NO IDEA if that person is their child, relation, boyfriend, employee..... That is why court orders are necessary.
But in your case unless the messages you want are from the last 6-10 days, they are (as Ernie Harwell used to say) "LONG GONE" from Verizon's servers.
I know the feeling of losing texts you planned to keep. A few months ago, I was playing with force closing apps and in doing so deleted a bunch I was keeping. That is why I found an app to sand messages to an email address also.

Lost Me as a Customer

I know that no one who actually makes these decisions will probably read this, and that speaks to the heart of the entire issue that's driven me away from Verizon.
To put it simply, you don't care about your customers.
Please understand, I have shown you loyalty. Through different associations, I have been offered better plans at less money. I have said no to them because I liked Verizon. While your coverage is good, there are two or three spots that I am in frequently where there is a gap in your coverage, and still, I stayed with Verizon because I liked Verizon.
I have had cellphones go haywire on me and have tried to get another phone after multiple problems (even with the insurance), only to be told "no" when I suggested upgraded at the discount price a month or so before I was supposed to be eligible - after a number of years as your customer.
So imagine my surprise to day, when I find out that I am basically locked out of getting any new phone (Since they all pretty much are now 4LTE) without losing my data plan. I was even willing to see what it'd cost to buy the phone outright - but it seems, even switching from my current device, changes my plan.
Now I know, the standard answer is "Family plan blah blah blah," or "This is a better way for our customers blah blah blah."
The problem is, your shoving the first down our throats when many of us don't need or want it, and for the second, you're simply calling your customers stupid for not knowing what's best for them.
So I'll hold on to my phone and used my unlimited data plan for right now, then when the new phablets come out, I'll be searching other plans and companies. Yeah, I know, your 4LTE network is supposed to be the best - but really, would you stay with a disloyal mate just because he/she can give you answers or change the channels faster than someone else?
Sorry to see you value loyalty a lot less than I and many others do. Someday I hope you'll find out that "Legal" doesn't mean "right."

I own a Droid X. 1 GHz processor,
According to the website when I choose: "Compatible with your current plan" and "Smart phone," 55 phones show up. A full 40% of the phones are immediately unusable because they are LTE. Not so bad, right There's still 33 phones to chose from? Hold on. Another 10% are "recertified" older phones - the same technology or worse than what I have in my phone. So now we're left with forty-three phones. Still a great choice right? Nope, still more issues.
1. Three of the choices are bundles: cords and car holders etc., now down to forty.
2. Now, when I filter out the non "Android" phones, I am left with six choices.
Of those choices,
A. Droid Pro = No 4G Android 2.3, 2 GBs of memory less, Single Core 1GHz TI OMAP 3620 chip = Downgrade
B. LG Enlighten - No 4G, 3.2 MP camera, Android 2.3, Single core 800 MHz = Downgrade
C. HTC Rhyme - No 4G, 8 GB less, 5MP Android 2.3, Single Core 1 GHz = Downgrade
D. Experia - No 4G, 8 GB less, 5 MP Android 2.3, Single Core 1 GHZ = Downgrade
E Casio G'zOne - No 4G, 8 GB less 5 MP Android 2.3 Single Core 800 Mhz = Downgrade
F. Droid X2 - No 4G Same GB Same MP Android 2.3 Dual COre 1 Ghz = 1 generation upgrade.
SO - for upgrades . . . they have ONE phone available, a 3G second generation Droid X that is already outdated by what, at least two generations? I admit, I wasn't clear enough with "Any new phone," so let me restate it. "Any new phone that is an actual upgrade" - and no, I don't consider the only change going from 1 to 2 core an upgrade for ANY amount of money.
Like I said, they have lost my business.

Help required for the users report requirement

User requirement is to get the report as follows
Period            planned order     Production order      Backlog
Feb2008          15                           3                      18
March2008      4                            11                     15
Backlog is the formula for planned order & production order.
My problem is that, In the cube the data for planned order is the char value 'X' or a blank.
It has to count the total of planned order for the entire month of feb,& print the value counting the number of 'X',here as shown as 15.
Planned order, Production order are in rows & are chracteristics.
Is thr any solution to count master data which has a char value(X).
I have tried using the formula variable.I had created the new formula.Then using the data functions as count(Formula variable),using the replacment path.But it did not work
Help me out to find the total for the char value of the master data.
Help would be rewarded!

For BACKEND:
1) Create a normal KF say counter and include it in the cube.
2) Now you can populate the value for this KF via end routine in transformation.
3) You need to check whether the value for planned order is X. If yes then update KF with value 1.
4) I hope you can take care of this routine part. Once this is done the data in the cube might look in below manner:
Month Planned-Order Counter
Feb 2007 | X | 1
Feb 2007 | X | 1
Feb 2007 | | 0
Feb 2007 | X | 1
Feb 2007 | | 0
Mar 2007 | | 0

Now in the report if you include month and counter the report will look like

If you see the counter is getting aggregated to give you the sum against the value of planned order as X against month.
I think this should work.
If this dosent work let me know i will let you the alternate solution for frontend. but for that too you need to make the above backend changes.
So do the backend changes and try to use counter KF for showing planned orders and i think it should work fine.

I am not sure of my best course of action and would appreciate some input. My problem is this. I have written an application in java that communicates with a
micro controller and passes information back and forth.I read info from sensors and relays and make changes to them. My current GUI is set up with tables to
display this info. I am in the process of creating a graphics based interface to display the information in a web page but I am having trouble getting my
java program to update the HTML page. I have considered using java to update a database with values and then reading the database with PHP and updating the
HTML but I do not know how to get the java to run the PHP. I can use the java.awt.desktop API to display the html but I cant get it to display the .php files
due to the server issues with PHP. I am not sure what I am looking for here. Javascript? AJAX? What I want is for the user to push a button that loads a
web page and have java read that html file to determine which specific values to update, then update specific text boxes with those values from the
micro controller. I already have the communication with my current java program. I know this is all a little confusing and convoluted and I apologize for
that. I am just having a tough time formulating a plan of attack. Any ideas?
