Verizon won't let me keep my plan

Why does Verizon force longtime customer's into their new plans?  I've been a long time customer and have been stuck on my old phone for about 4 years because they won't let me keep my unlimited data plan.
If you actually call and try to talk to them about it they just you have to and don't explain why.  I'm basically stuck at spending a large amount to get a retail priced phone or lose my plan and pay overcharges. I stream a lot of music and some videos all day (use it at work and in my drives to and from work).  So roughly 10 hours a day I'm streaming stuff.
Likely I'll just be forced to join my wife on AT&T. No point on sticking with Verizon if they don't care about their customers.

I agree with SuzyQ on this, AT&T isn't the one, but T-Mo is looking more desirable to me.
I've been a customer of VZ for, well, since they were Bell Atlantic in the Northeast (mid 90's so about 20 years).  My first phone was a Motorola Teletac (big grey beast with just led number display) and over the years I've just been sticking with them because they do have the best network.  In the last few years I've had a family plan with my wife, her mother and my mother and I pay the bill for all of them.  My wife and I both have Unlimited plans and I did recently purchase a Note 3, at full price, to avoid losing my data plan.  My wife is ready for a new phone and I'd likely buy her a phone at full price to avoid losing the data plan, but we're thinking about getting our mom's iPhones (my Wife and all my sister in-laws and my sister all have iPhones) so that they can facetime with the grandkids.  Here's my problem, if I buy them phones that use data (currently they only have just phones without data) my wife and I lose our unlimited data plans because we have to move to a "share everything plan".  I already pay almost $220/month with a significant discount, adding the data for the share everything and enough data for the 4 of us to avoid any overages would spike that price even more and it kills me.  I know that T-Mo has less coverage than VZ, but the areas that any of us are ever in are completely covered and the family members that do have T-Mobile all love it.  Additionally, the last time my wife and I went on a cruise, her phone turned on accidentally and we got international roaming data charges (don't know why, but it happened).  I don't want to have to keep my phone locked up and worry that if I take it out on my next cruise to take some pictures or read a book (yes, reading a book on a Note 3 is convenient) that I'm going to be nailed with roaming charges.  This isn't an issue with T-Mo in the Bahamas or most of Europe.
I guess that what I'm saying is that I don't care how much Red is on the coverage map in places I NEVER go to, as long as it is where I do go.  And now that T-Mo offers to buy out contracts, having them buy out the one lone contract for a single flip phone that is being replaced with an iPhone anyway is making my decision easier.  I know I'm not the only one considering the switch.  I just hope that Verizon is willing to do something about an extremely long time customer who just added up that even at $10/month more over 20 years is $2400, but with this move I'm looking at more like $100/month more that I've been paying.  All so I can say my phone works where I'm never at, but charges me a lot more for places that I am.

    If you are using Photoshop from within iPhoto the following may help with the workflow.  However, we do need to know the answers to the questions posed by Terence and Larry to be able to help you.
    Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
    1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
    3 - however, if you get the navigation window
    that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
    I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:

    Note 1:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.
    Note 2:  editing a RAW file with either PSE or PS creates a new file which must be saved outside of iPhoto, i.e. the Desktop, and imported as a new photo into the iPhoto Library.

  • Verizon won't let me exchange 16gb iphone for 32gb

    Hi, I recently got the 16gb iphone 4 but decided to exchange for 32 but verizon won't let me because before I got iphone I bought an htc droid incredible and returned it in exchange for iphone; the problem is they will not let me do another exchange for 32 gb because they only allow one exchange but I feel this is not right they should allow as many exchanges as we want until we are happy. I hope someone from verizon who is here can help because I really want the 32 gb.

    I will explain the reason for this, i'm sure it's a policy. But the reason for this is so customers won't come anytime they're like, "Hmm, the other phone is newer and shiny i want that one." You sign a contract when you get a phone with them, you have to stick it out untill it's done you can't just go in and exchange it anytime you please. They're a good company, but, if they start doing that they're out of buisness in a month. I'm sorry this happened to you, but, it's just the joys of signing a contract to get a phone. (EDIT>--- And i forgot to add, even if you don't have a contract the point still stands. The buisness just doesn't come out making money if they just let you come in anytime you want to exchange a phone for a shinier new one.)

  • EHP4 phase IS_SELECT won't let me keep ST-A/PI

    I'm currently applying EHP4 to our Sandbox ECC6 system.  Everything was going well until I got stopped at the IS_SELECT phase, where it asks you what you want to do with your add-ons.
    I have installed ST-A/PI 01L_ECC600.  When I tell the EHPinstaller that I want to keep that version it complains and won't let me use that decision.  My options are, Upgrade with CD, Upgrade with SAINT package, or Keep (with vendor key).
    There is no newer version than this, for this basis release level, and the documentation in note 69455 indicates that this version is fine for use with EHP4.
    Please help me to understand where I have gone wrong, and if anyone has had this issue how you were able to get past this step.

    If you are selecting that you want to keep same version of a component then on next step you have to provide vendor key to keep the same version then only it will allow you to keep version...

  • Order for GS3 cancelled TWICE - Won't let us keep unlimited data

    Preordered 2 Samsung Galaxy S3 phones on June 26 in order to keep our unlimited data plans. Unfortunately, Verizon's order processing team emailed me on July 3 saying our order was cancelled. I quickly called Verizon at (800) 483-7200 and asked "Becky" why my order was cancelled and it was because the shipping address was different from the billing address. The reason for this was because my girlfriend wouldn't be home to sign for the phones upon delivery so she wanted them shipped to my house since I would be home and would be the one setting them up so we use them that day. After being on hold for quite a long time, "Becky" finally got back to me and I told her to just ship the phones to the billing address so there wouldn't be any problems. She then put me on hold again and after about 7 min of waiting, she told me that the order has been placed and should arrive by July 12. Then I asked for a confirmation for the order but she could not provide one for me but she said she would call back when she was able to get one. Already this seemed like a bad sign.
    A couple hours later, my girlfriend calls to tell me that our order has been cancelled AGAIN. I quickly call Verizon and speak to "Diego" who then transfers me to "Barbara" in telesales who places the order WITH UNLIMITED DATA but asks for a form of payment. I asked to just have it billed to the account but she said that the order exceeds the $400 limit for account billings. I don't have a credit card for this order so she calls my girlfriend whose name is on the account but my girlfriend doesn't answer since she's at work. I try to call my girlfriend with "Barbara" on the other line. She doesn't answer and my other call with "Barbara" is lost.
    Back to square one.
    I call *611 from my phone to speak with "Tyrone" who tells me the same thing, the order exceeds $400 for billing and they would need another form of payment. Since the original order was CANCELLED, they can't use the original credit card. I decide to take care of this matter on my girlfriends day off and ask "Tyrone" if we would be able to retain our UNLIMITED DATA plan since we had originally ordered the phones before June 28 and he said there would be no guarantee and would most likely have to fill out an "inactive pricing request" or IRP (not sure of the actual name).
    I gave up after that.
    Of course this is incredibly inconvenient and I'm close to just terminating our service with Verizon over this situation. We've been verizon customers for a little over 5 years and would hate to switch to another wireless provider but this is by far our worst experience with customer service. From my perspective, It seems that Verizon is doing all they can to prevent us from keeping our unlimited data plan for use with our GS3's. Also, judging by the previous topics and comments on this forum, it seems this problem with retaining unlimited data is widespread.
    This is obviously not worth bringing into a small claims court but how are any of you current Verizon customers dealing with this? Is it even worth it to keep fighting this?

    i wouldn't give up. they clearly show that you tried to order it prior to 6/28. i would call back again, but this time have everything in order.....your credit card, details of the first order, etc, etc. i've seen a few people here have luck with getting it straightened out. just be stern, but polite. you ordered it prior to 6/28 and they need to reinstate THAT order. and i agree that it's absurd to have an area in the order for shipping address if it can't be anything except the billing address.

  • Verizon won't let us activate a new basic phone. Just filed FCC complaint

    My mom has had this Verizon plan for nearly 10 years. It's not a bargain by any means. It's $12 a month plus $0.25 a minute. Kind of a rip-off. But she likes the plan. Anyway, she recently added a $10 texting plan and talked to one of the sales managers at the store about getting a new phone (texting with a flip phone isn't practical.) He said she couldn't get a new phone with a QWERTY keyboard because she still has a year left on her contract, but recommended she get a phone elswhere, or buy one. She asked multiple times if Verizon would be able to activate the phone, and the salesman said yes multiple times. So she bought a new texting phone, an EnV3.
    She called up Verizon to activate it, and they told her that the plan is no longer valid and any device switch would involve changing plans to a more expensive version. Keep in mind she's under contract after she got a new flip phone last year. What should I do? The store couldn't activate the phone either. I'll try online but not sure if it will work. I filed an FCC complaint though so maybe that will help. Otherwise, I'm getting my mom off Verizon once the contract is up. AT&T is good in our area, and even T-Mobile is. At least you get what you pay for with them.

    After ten years of loyalty, we want to see your mom here for another ten strong. Pending which plan she is on, a Verizon Wireless device like an EnV3 may require current pricing plans in order to make the switch. Do you happen to know the exact name of the plan she's currently on as well as the offerings? Also, which device does she currently use? We're going to do everything we can to express options to make sure she gets some proper help so she can stay on board.

  • ITunes won't let me keep my album tracklists in the order that I want them

    Here's what I mean. The other day, I imported The stone Roses into iTunes using my friends CD. I couldn't import song 9 because the disc is heavily scratched and it won't copy. I bought the song online and imported it into iTunes. The problem is, it's appearing in a duplicate album, all by itself. I now have two albums titled The Stone Roses in my library, one with just song 9 and the other with all the rest. The thing is, I CAN'T seem to be able to shift 9 into the other album. All the information is identikit to the other 10 songs. Same album name, genre, disc number information, track number information, BPM information, it's all the same. But 9 will not move. Why not?
    Second, I have Trainspotting CD1 and imported it into iTunes. There are some songs off CD2 that I like so I want to put them with the CD1 songs. One was Heaven 17, Temptation, which I bought from the Music Store. I changed it's info and aligned it with the other Trainspotting songs. I had to change all the track number infos because there are no 15 songs in the album instead of 14. Yesterday, I bought another song, Dark and Long by Underworld, and tried to link it with Traisnspotting CD1. It will not link properly. It appears in the album, yes. But I can't get it to be song number 10 like I want. It just goes to 4 and to boot, pushes up song 8, Sing, to position 5 as well, for some strange reason.
    Basically, why won't iTunes let me order songs THE WAY I WANT THEM ORDERED!?!?!? How do I correct this?????

    Thing is, they can look identical but not be. When she said "_" she was highlighting an extra speca at the end of the name.
    Do this:
    Click on the first track.
    Shift+Click on the last track. This should highlight all thetracks in between.
    Right Click and choose Get Info.
    Either the Artist field or the Album field will look blank. This is the one that needs adjusting. Enter the appropriate info and save.
    If both fields are empty, enter the proper artist and album info. Save
    Now you should have only one entry for that album.

  • Verizon won't let me report phishing mail to ebay and Paypal

    I recently got phish mails claiming to be from Paypal and ebay. They were in the Spamdetector folder so I tried to report them to spoof@ebay/paypal.com, as I always have done in the past.
    When I try to send it, Verizon gives me an error 5.7.1 telling me that the email I was trying to send has been determined to be spam and it will not send it. Thanks, Verizon, I know it is spam, that is why I am reporting it! I can understand that they want to protect themselves from having spam sent, but it seems like they could put some smarts in to allow it to be sent to known phishing reporting addresses so I can let Paypal and ebay know about the email and check where it came from. Is this too much to ask? Stupid question, I guess.

    Try attaching the emails to your new message instead of sending the text directly. Many times that will let it get through.

  • Verizon won't let me return my defective modem

    I want to change my plan to remove the modem off of it. The thing doesn't work even after 3 hours on the phone with Tech Support. And even though the supervisor promised I could cancel and return it, when I tried I was told the suprevisor lied to me and I can't return it because it was past the 30 days. Does anyone else agree with Verizon that I should pay for the modem even though it doesn't work?????  I didn't have these problem with Sp**nt.

    So it worked for the first 30 days??? You had 14 days to determine if this device would work. After 14 days the best you can do is swap it out for another.....UNLESS there is physical damage to the device, then you are SOL.
    Normally, tech support will start the return process for modems and have one shipped overnight. There must be more to this story. But will you be able ot get out of the contract....Nope.

  • Verizon Won't let me check order status for iPhone?

    well I've been trying lately to keep checking to see what my order status is.. but It gives me an error saying:
    There has been an error in processing your request. Using the Back button on your browser and resubmitting your request may solve the problem. If you are still not successful, please Contact Us for assistance.

    I am! here's the deal I placed an order for an upgrade at 6:00 am. Then later around 9:30 I placed an additional order to add a line and transfer in another phone #. My order that was placed later just says that it's in process, but my earlier order is getting the same message you are.
    My debit card was charged 2 $0.00 transactions this morning. It was charged the full amount of the order about 2 hours ago. When I call the 800# they don't show an order at all! LOL!
    I'm chalking this up to the preorder being over and they're updating records, etc. I'll try again in the morning. I'm not going to panic yet because I have my confirmation emails and my card has been charged...hang in there!

  • Verizon won't let me return phone?

    I received the phone on the evening of the 22nd of July.  I called up on the 28th and asked for a return box/label which arrived on the 30th. I had just moved so I didn't have a printer set up.@  I mailed it back at 3pm on the 6th and it arrived on the 7th at the return center. They turned it around and returned it to me saying it was over the 14 days But:
    I asked to return in on the 28th (well within the 14 days)
    I did mail it within 14*24hr time periods from when I received it (If you want to get very technical)
    How do I dispute this?  The customer service supervisor hung up on me. (I was being insistent that I would not pay but I was not rude or abusive.)

    The policy reads 14 days from purchase. Even if received on the 22nd that takes you to Aug 5th,
    I suspect you purchased the device on the 21st which the device MUST be back by the 4th of August,
    You don't have any grounds to dispute the return. Sorry

    If someone can please help me I am a new user to this phone and Verizon.  I got to so that I could call my son and mom long distance, but it won't let me make the call.  It is activated and has the 45 dollar plan on it.  I really want it to work and not be a waste of money.

    I would say to start by looking on their web site... unfortunately, that appears to be dead.
    Based on the horrible ratings on the App Store (1 star for the current version), I'm not surprised it doesn't work well.

    I figured out what was going on the app had miss represented how much space it would take it had said it was 1.2g's however it was really 1.9g's which was all I had left on the phone I downloaded it to my computer first from the apps store then was able to see this. At that point I was able to rearrange some memory to accomadate it's size thanx for the help.
