Losing information when gotoAndPlay occurs
Attached is the code to an exercise (clipped for your viewing
ease). I am wondering why the dynamic text box resets to zero when
the gotoAndPlay function occurs. Also the items that I have place
in the scene that are mc's related to the gotoAndPlay movie
disappear. They work and act fine until the movie is played, they
dissappear and the dynamic text goes from 25 to zero.
Nothing attached. But my guess would be that you goto a frame
where the clip doesn't exist or has been reset by a keyframe or
there is some repetative code which is setting the value and the
scope has now changed and it can't get the value.
But we really need to know more to help! :)

I apologize if you already thoroughly know all this (I couldn't be sure):
When you export, you don't change the original (i.e. you never overwrite the original). So, you can export a million times and never lose quality (of the original), regardless of the export formats you choose.
Of course the quality of the export depends on the chosen format, and if the format is lossy (e.g. jpeg), then export quality also depends on the size & quality settings.
TIFF is lossless, so quality is essentially equivalent to the raw in Lightroom. It's the preferred format if a really BIG file is OK. Jpeg was invented to reduce file-size as much as possible without being too much inferior, quality-wise - and it does that very well.
DNG is good for some stuff, but don't export your photos in DNG format unless you know what you are doing and why... Lot's of people like converting their originals to DNG format, but that's a whole different kettle of fish...
Note, it may very well make sense to export a jpeg as tiff, since exporting a jpeg as jpeg is not as good. - reminder: when you export, you are not overwriting the original, you are making a new copy from the original, by combining it with develop edits if there have been any.

Have Ipod Touch 2nd Gen. 64 gig. I noticed that my music will not play alphabetically anymore. Don't know exactly when this occured. I checked all my settings so doesn't seem to be that.Apple no longer is upgrading this unit..I use windows XP but don't believe this is an issue since i have read posts saying this is not the problem..right now am converting my higher bit rate music to see if that changes anything. I also turned off my unit and the next thing am going to do is a restore if this doesn't work. Anyone find a fix for this yet? I also see that this is not a unique problem to Gen 2 units and is occuring on newer units as well..thank you all for any advise...

DataOutputStream / DataInputStream ( Losing information? )
I have written a client server program. The client program establishes a URL connection to a ServerSocket. I am using a DataOutputStream to pass a large amount of data back to the client. The problem is that it appears that every now and then a byte is skipped or lost. Here is the important part of the code. (psudo) This loss appears to happen when I read the bytes into the Buf Array.
On the ServerSide :

}I know that one byte is being lost because I tried to send the same int value acros constantly, and then instead of calling readInt, i called readByte four times (four bytes of an int) , and gradually everytime the mysterios 'loss' happend, the values would shift. See my example:
Should Be:
1 => 0 , 0 , 0 , 10
2 => 0 , 0 , 10 , 020
3 => 0 , 10, 152, 102 etc. 1 <= This displays lets say 500 times and is the correct Representation of the int then...
2 <= The 020 is not correct, it should be like the line above. This means that the first 0 has disapeared. (But when i check the last entry in the Buf, the 0 is there) . Afer even some more time it becomes the 3rd line. and the first two zeros are the last two entries in the Buf array.
So i dont' know if i'm losing information? Using the streams wrong, or how to fix it. All i want to do is pass a large amount of information from the server to the client.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.In your loop, what aren't you checking the byte array's length rather than comparing against the byte array itself? Does that even compile? Post the actual code that is having issues.
Also, flushing after writing a single byte is a huge waste. Flush after a 'message' from the client is complete to send to the server and vice versa.

How to get more detailed error information when calling Java SP

Sorry for reposting this in here but I got no responses in the JVM forum...
I am calling a Java stored procedure from a PL/SQL stored procedure (Oracle DB 9.2.0.8.0) and I am getting the exception:
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.lang.NullPointerException
It does not help much though... Is it possible to get the full Java error stack from within PL/SQL so I can log a more informative message?

I will give some more info about my problem. I have an Oracle job that runs every morning and executes a PL/SQL procedure, which in turn calls that Java SP.
Sometimes the Java SP fails and the error is logged; however only the message "java.lang.NullPointerException" is reported by the SQLERRM function (apparently the last Java error message in the error stack). I am unable to reproduce the error when calling the Java SP manually as was suggested.
I need to log a more detailed error message from within PL/SQL to know exactly where the error occurred, when it occurs next time...
I will take a look to see if I can get some information in some trace file, though ideally I would like to do it programatically.

Photo Files Losing Color when placing in INDD...
Hi, using INDD CS6,I am noticing my jpg files are losing some of their color information when I link them into INDD, I am doing a photo book, and the colors really need to be preserved. It's almost like they are being compressed a little in INDD similar to what we see on compressed PDF output. I have check my color spaces, etc, all seem to be good and consistent between the apps. I am attaching a screen shot where I overlaid the same jpg displayed in preview next to the same file linked to in INDD.
Thank you.A few things at play here, I think. First, do you see the the little red dot with the question mark in the upper left of the frame in ID? That means the link is missing. ID can't do a proper preview if it can't find the link. Second, ID is color managed. As far as I know, Preview is not. A more accurate check would be against the image in Photoshop. Third, you've got a drop shadow. I suspect the Image is RGB and the transparency blend space is set to CMYK. Fourth, you are, indeed, looking at a compressed preview, not the actual pixels. The quality of the preview depends on the settings (display quality) and the size/resolution ratio at which the image was saved.

[SOLVED]Mutt - abook problem - losing information
I've experienced the problem seen by others with abook losing information, but I have not seen any clear solutions. I'm using mutt from extra, compiled via abs with the sidebar patch. It appears that the data loss happens when you have existing phone/address information, then add another contact with phone/address info. All previous entries then lose their non-email information. The email address stay, it's just the other info that disappears.
I'm no C programmer, so I can't delve into the code. Anyone else care to take a crack at this? There don't seem to be any equivalent cli addressbooks out there, after some googling around.

I'm just starting to get a bit advanced in a few areas so I think I'll stay with what's big with the gurus. should be of much interest to others who find out about it here and the future, who knows! I've sure had some laughs at the circles I've enjoyed over the years, if that makes enough sense.
SO: abook still loosing all data, blank totally and I have to reboot and copy my backup in with abook NOT running generally for it to pick it up and load it. Like, IF I have abook running and copy the backup in, then quit abook and restart it's blank again. usually.
... I think I'll email cedric the writer again. He was great and most interested in the data loss. This was a few months back, though we didn't get too far due to my not being able to provide much.

Why such error information when I used sqlite3 SQL API?

When I programming with sqlite3 SQL API, some error information about lock occurred:
DB_LOCK->lock_put: Lock is no longer valid
Following error log also occurred sometimes:
“Locker still has locks”
I have called the function sqlite3_threadsafe to make sure the library is threadsafe.
Is there any way to avoid the above error logs?

Did you know that Verizonwireless is saving your checking account information when you pay your bill by check and then making it part of your "MyVerizon" without you adding it? This means of course if they get hacked that information could be compromised. What do you think of this?
Credit card and debit card and checking and savings information is encrypted so it is possible to be hacked, but the odds are greater to get hit by the Love Boat then to have a wide scale hack.
Oh yes they do happen, Bank of America, Chase, Citibank, Target and quite a few others. But in all the years I have paid my invoice with saved card information I never been hacked.
You use good passwords and the risk is minimal.

Im trying to update my apps and it wont let me. When i clicked on an app to update it or to download a free app it says "sign in required, tap continue and sign in to view your billing information" when i did it says "you must verify your payment info before you can makes purchases" then "security code is invalid" when the security code is valid. I even switched credit card it keeps saying the same thing....... THIS IS NOT FAIR........ I WANNA UPDATE MY APPS!!!!! Btw idk why did i buy the ipad for, APPLE dont even let you download ADOBE FLASH PLAYER and must of the games required ADOBE FLASH PLAYER to play example: wizard101. Idk what i was thinking...... :(

I create my apple id from my boyfriend macbook and its says that I have to review my itunes information , when I get to the credit card number info etc. Its keep asking me for that I dont have any credit card and I dont want to put any , what should I do?
You cannot use that ID without a credit card. You did not create your account correctly. There is very specific way in which you must create your account if you do not want to use a credit card. If you don't have a credit card, you will have to start all over again.
1. You will have to sign out of that ID before you can create a new one. Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID>Sign out.
2. You cannot use the email address that you used for the first ID that you created. You will need to use another email address now
3. You have to download a free app in order to start the new Apple ID process.
Read this before proceeding.
