Hi,

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things.

I'm not sure what settings you are referring to. If you mean the import CD settings, there would be no point in changing them after importing the CD, would there?
As for the best setting for audio quality, it's down to your preference. Many people will not hear the difference bewteen one setting and another. The best thing to do is import the same song several times using different import setttings (and change the song title so you know which one is which) and then listen to them on your iPod. Then decide.
Unless you have specific reasons for using the WAV setting, don't use it. It will use up a lot of space on your iPod and you cannot tag WAV files in the same way as the other formats.

  • Error message when importing CD's into iTunes.

I've just started getting an error message when importing audio CD's into itunes. +"Error occured while converting the file "........". The disk could not be read from or written to."+ I've been importing CDs for years now and this just started happening last night. The disk image shows up on the desktop, itunes opens and recognizes the disk and searches the database and finds the artist/track names/album etc. Then when I click the import button, I get this message. If I click on the disk image in the desktop and click on a specific file it will play through iTunes. No new changes except for maybe downloading the latest iTunes update. Any suggestions? Thank you very much in advance.

Every time I import a CD, mp3 is louder then AAC. It's just every so often if I try AAC the volume will be really low. Like barely hearable. Maybe it has to with the fact the CD was released long before AAC format was around? Something to do with compatibility maybe?
Iron-Mike, MP3 and AAC were both invented well after CD audio and both algorithms are well aware of CD format. Make sure you have "Soundcheck" settings turned on both for iTunes playback and for CD burning. iTunes Soundcheck is supposed to normalize the volumes in spite of variations in the files. Many people have noticed that they don't really work very well, but having them on is better than nothing.

  • No audio when importing mpeg4 song from itunes

I have tried to import a song from itunes which turned out to be mpeg4 and not aiff. As a result the audio is not playing in FCP.
Is there anything I can do?

You may want to actually read the agreement you make with Apple and the iTunes store regarding the use of material acquired there. A song purchased from the iTunes store gives you the right to listen to it on up to 5 devices. It does not give you the right to utilize it in any syncronized video or other public display - whether or not money changes hands.
Have you negotiated the use rights with the artist already?
What VJK tells is technically correct it is also an illegal act. Let's put it this way - would it be OK for someone to take your work, use it for their purposes and maybe they credit or pay you later?

  • I want to join the cd tracks when importing my discs into itunes

I have always joined my tracks when putting audio books into itunes. Then, yesterday I put the first disc of a book in but could not get the option up when I came to add disc 2. I figured it was a faulty disc and tried another book but nothing works.
Previously I have inserted a disc highlighted all the tracks & then chosen join tracks from the advanced tab. Now everything highlights but the required join tracks option remains stubbornly unavailable. I uninstalled & re-installed itunes but that hasn't made any difference.
Please can anyione help - I forsee a life of re-naming audio tracks so that the stay together on my ipod!

The only way iTunes can join tracks is when it is ripping from physical CD.
Once the CD is ripped, you can use 3rd party software to join the tracks (i.e. an audio editor), but it may be easier to start over again from the CD.

  • Losing some hebrew names when importing

    Hi
I've moved my iTunes library to a new folder.
In order to tell iTunes about it, i've removed the iTunes library.
I then changed the locations of the file inside the file 'iTunes Music Library.xml' using a text editor's search & replace and then I imported the XML file. Itunes now finds all the files but when I play some of the files with names in hebrew the names are converted to junk such as this: ùàåì îåôæ
The weird part is that not all Hebrew titles are converted to junk, only some and I can't see the difference between them
    Can you help me?
    Thanks

  • Named voice memos on iphone changing names when imported to mac through iTunes.

I have a lot of memos that have all been named on my iPhone. Now I'm trying to import the voice memos, but I can't seem to make the voice memos keep their original titles. When viewed through iTunes the titles are correct, but when I try and drag the files to a folder the titles are renamed to a generic date and time format. These "wrong" titles are also present when manouvering to the iTunes media folder containing the voice memos.
Is it really true that you can't make iTunes preserve the original titles?

An alternative would be to switch to manual management of your iPhone.

  • Error when importing music CD into iTunes

I am trying to import an audio CD to iTunes. I have a (newish) macbook air using OSX 10.9.3, so I am using a Samsung Portable DVD Writer (SE-208).
iTunes can play the music file from the cd, but when I try to import a track/cd I get the following error message: "Error occurred while converting the file <song name>. The required disk cannot be found."
I have tried importing in different file formats, but I get the same error message each time. Please help!

Since your error message suggests that iTunes is finding the music to be ripped, I suspect that it isn’t finding the folder the music is supposed to be stored in. Open iTunes preferences and select the Advanced tab. If you store your music on your computer in the iTunes folder you should see: /Volumes/Music/iTunes in the first box labeled iTunes Media Folder Location. If you see something else, or if you store the music on an external drive, click on the Change button and select the folder where you want the ripped files to be placed.

  • Is this slow performance when importing CD's into iTunes ?

    Hi,
My new iMac 20" arrived this weekend. Since then I've been getting acquainted, being new to Macs. I wanted to build up my iTunes library, so I grabbed a box of my CDs and began importing them one by one. I was expecting my new iMac to really fly through them after reading the reviews of how much faster the new Core 2 Duo are over previous iMacs. I remember a table of stats in the MacWorld reviews, and for iTunes test, these machines were clocked at under 2 minutes for whatever it was they ripped in iTunes. YMMV certainly applies, but I was setting my expectation that my iMac could rip a CD in 2 - 3 minutes.
Umm, my experience is way off that. In fact, I would say my iMac took about as long to rip a CD as my 7 year old Dell PC with 256 MB of mem and a first gen Pent 5.
I decided to pick a CD and time how long it takes to import on my iMac, then take same CD and time how long it takes to import into iTunes on his new PC.
CD - Rush, Moving Pictures, 7 songs, 39.8 min, 403.1 MB
    Encoding - AAC, 192 kbps
My rig - iMac 20", 2 GB RAM, 256 MB VRAM, Core 2 Duo and 250 HB with latest version of OS X
My son's rig - intel D955xbklkr socket 775 atx mobo, intel pentium D840 3.2 GHz processor, Corsair twinx pc5400 DDR2 667 Mhz mem ( 2 x 1024 mb ), HD - Seagate 250 GB SATA2 7K with 16 MB buffer, Pioneer DVR-111D DVD burner, and XFX 7600GS extreme graphics card, Win XP Pro, SP2 ( we built this beast with gaming in mind, with his own money ) * the CPU and memory are NOT overclocked and no other tweaks. just build it, install it and run it.
    The results:
    iMac - 7 minutes
    PC - 2 minutes
I ran the import twice on each machine and came up with the same results.
Neither machine was running anything else at the time.
Granted there are some differences between the machines that should account for some differences, especially on the hard drive, with SATA2 and a nice 16 MB cache ( it's one sweet HD ) on the PC, but this difference is huge. We're not talking 20, 40 or 60 % faster on the PC. This was > 3x faster, so basically over 300% faster.
Anyone have an idea ? Without digging into the specs, I'd say the DVD drives should be able to read equally fast, the Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz with 4 MB cache should be equal if not superior to the older, D 820 3.2 GHz, the memory is the same speed, but I'm not sure about system bus speed on the P C ( 800 MHz ? ). Graphics cards don't factor into this equation, but the HD probably plays a big role, and I think the Seagate in my son's PC has the iMac beat hands down.
What are other iMac C2D owners seeing for average import times ?
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Trevor,
When you say your superdrive rips, the import speeds are typically around 20x, what encoding method and bit rate are you using ?
I imported another CD and watched for what import speed numbers were displayed. Routinely, they hovered around 8x and sometimes up to 12 or 13x, but never higher. I was told by someone at our local user's group meeting that ripping at AAC 192kbps was a double-pass, I think that was the words they used, and therefore slower. ( Many members thought 7 minutes to rip was typical ) I'm not so sure if that means the drive will only spin at half it's rated max speed ? Anyway, I walked over to my son's PC with the CD and ripped it at AAC 192kbps to his iTunes library. The numbers I saw were from 18x to frequently 23, 24 and sometimes briefly to about 26x. His drive has a max of 40x. By my reasoning, anything that would cause iTunes to rip this CD at a slower speed, whether due to the encoding rate or the CD's surface condition, should affect both computers equally, yes ? Yet the drive on the PC performed on average at twice the rate of the iMac. I think it's safe to say the rip speed is comfortably within the operating margins of both drives.
I'm not yet fully convinced this is normal for an iMac. My CD are in excellent shape. I'm the only one who uses them and I handle them with about as much care as the old audiofiles used to when they handled their vinyl LPs ( well, at least not as far as wearing cotton gloves and sweeping the dust off ). Most of them have absolutely no visible scratches or oily finger prints on their surfaces. I might experiment and see what rates I get if I use MP3 or a lower bit rate for AAC.

  • When importing keynote presentations from ituns to ipad, do they occupy double the space on the ipad?

When I import presentations from mac to ipad I put them first on ipad thorough itunes when the ipad is connected, then from the keynote app I import the presentations. After can I delete the presentations from itunes? and if i don't will they occupy double the space on my ipad?

Keynote files are not contained in iTunes
iTunes is used as an import application for iOS devices
When transferring files from Mac to iOS devices iTunes, does not hold files, only a link to the file on the Mac
Do not confuse downloading music to iTunes

    Hi Music4lifebeats:
One of the tracks in your iTunes library seems to reporting an invalid Track Length.  This is usually the result of a corrupt track.  We can help identify what track is causing the problem...check you private messages.
You may be able to temporarily fix this problem by closing MediaSync and deleting the file %appdata%/ Research In Motion\BlackBerry Media Sync/ MediaSyncLibrary.tle.
However, if the corrupt file is still in your library, the problem will show up again.

  • No audio when importing mp4 files into iTunes.

Since recently, whenever I import an MP4 of M4V file into iTunes, it either deletes the audio, or the video becomes shocky.
When I play the same files in VLC they do work. That is great and all, but since I use Apple TV I need them to work in iTunes.
I've tried to delete and re-import the files. I've also tried to download different versions of the same files, which also didn't work.
To me it seems like the problem lies within iTunes.. but I'm not really a computer wiz.
Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • When importing a video into iTunes it will not save it as a podcast

I download a series of educational videos and i have been importing them into iTunes, when i do i go to the information for the video and i save it as a podcast. however itunes will not svae it as a podcast it will keep reverting it back to saving it as media type "video". this has only started ot occure since the upgrade to iTunes 11.
Does any one know how to fix this problem, i would like to keep them all together as podcasts. do i need to run them through garage band or iMovie or something to create podcasts?
I cant find any material to help me on this topic so any information would be really helpful. Thanks :-)

Movie will edit audio well, to a point.
It is good for editing the camcorder audio, and then adding music, sound effects, or voiceovers.
However, it is not good at combining camcorder video with a better recording of the same event. Say you are recording a band, and you have cameras, but for sound you want to use professional microphones and combine the audio and video later. For this, I would recommend Vivideo for Mac.
