Loss of Access for devices that is resolved only b...

I have an issue where 1 laptop (out of 3 using the hub wirelessly) and 2 wireless printers lose connection to the hub.
This is restored when the hub is rebooted but then lost again if the printers go into power save mode or when the laptop is turned off and powered up the following day.
All other devices (wired PC, laptops x 2, ipods and pad all continue to operate without issue)
The laptop in question connects to the home hub but shows this as an "unidentified network (Public Network)" and prevents Internet connection.
Nothing that I have tried via the Network and Sharing centre and the self diagnosis and repair options resolves the issue and I cannot fathom how to change the home hub connection back to the recognised Home Network connection that it will revert to automatically if the hub is rebooted.
When the hub is rebooted, the laptop will connect automatically with no issues.
The same laptop does see the BT-Fon and BT-Wifi options on the hub and will connect to both of these using the appropriate password even when blocked from accessing the hub as the Home Network.
The printers are both shown as being offline. Restarting the printers does not resolve the issue, but restarting the home hub does.
I am sure the solution is straight forward and relates to either the BT NetProtect/MCAfee but don't know where to start.

This might help to get your laptop to connect to the network.
Go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change adapter settings -> Then 'Right Click' on your Wireless network and select Status > Wireless Properties > tick the box “Connect automatically when network is in range”. Click OK then close.
On the Network and sharing Center you should see your BTHomeHub network. Make sure that it is showing as a " home network"  and not a public network.
As regards BT Netprotect / McAfee this does appear to cause problems and the general advice on this forum is to uninstall it and install another Antivirus product such as Microsoft Security Essentials or AVG Free 2013 or Avast free. If you do decide to uninstall BT Netprotect  follow this link and be sure to run the McAfee clean up tool as well.

  • Looking for devices that can perform straight forward I/Q demodulation process

    Hi guys, 
    I am looking for a high speed NI board that can perform the quadrature demodulation (for a 20 MHz signal), I have looked through the web but so far I can only find 5620, 5660 and 5142.
    cos(wt) ----> Device under Test (DUT) -----> Acos(wt + theta)
    cos(wt) is the original tranmitting signal (20 MHz). After it is passed through the DUT, amplitude change (A) and phase shift (theta) is then introduced into the output signal (the frequency still remains the same.) The purpose of this setup is to measure the amplitude change and phase shift, relative to the original signal.
    Thus I need a simple I/Q demodulation board that can perform this job. Is there any NI board that one can recommend? Or is there a board that can generate the driving signal and do the IQ domodulation at the same time? I think 5620, 5660 and 5142 can only perform I/Q demodulation process...

  • Migration Option for Devices that Doesn't Meet Requirements

    We have a Family MobileMe Pack and have an iMac with Snow Leopard. When I chose to move 2 accounts that the iMac uses to iCloud, I selected the option to "keep using your email after MobileMe ends" so that these accounts will still work on Mail for the iMac.
    When I check the accounts under the Master account, these 2 accounts show (Remove Account) instead of (Migrated to iCloud) as is the case for my kids' accounts.
    Now I'm confused as to whether these 2 accounts are really migrated or not. And I'm not sure I can move the Master account to iCloud before these 2 accounts have been migrated. I've read I cannot manage any of the family accounts anymore once the Master account moves to iCloud. But time is running out.
    So confused. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks.

    If you have a Family Pack, each sub-account and the master account can be regarded as individual and separate for the purposes of the exercise. In each case all you have to do is go to http://me.com/move and follow the instructions, and it doesn't matter what order you do it in. Because of confusingly worded instructions from Apple some people have got the impression they have to cancel the sub-accounts first: do not do this.
    If you migrate the master account first the others will continue to run: obviously what was the master account will not have any control over them nor be able to administer or delete them in the event it wanted to. If you migrate a sub-account while the master account is still running you can't create a new sub-account to fill the gap. Aliases will be maintained but unlike in the MobileMe Family Pack you cannot convert an alias to a full iCloud account.
    Apple have provided a facility for MobileMe users whose computers don't meet the requirements to migrate their email only to iCloud. If you choose this option only your email will be migrated to iCloud. It's not entirely clear whether this takes place immediately or waits until July 1, but you can easily check by seeing whether your email is available at http://me.com or athttp://icloud.com - if the latter, the migration has taken place (give it time to take effect before checking).
    On July 1 all other data on MobileMe will be deleted, but your email will be accessible at http://icloud.com.
    Though Apple have not included this information, you will be able to set mail up manually to access your iCloud email by following the instructions on these pages:

    Apple have not stated what will happen if you do not follow this process. It seems safe to assume that in that case your emails will be deleted and you will lose the account.

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to monitor a network device (Cisco) which doesn't accept SNMP requests (161) but it will send out snmp traps on port 162.
    I have setup my SCOM 2012 R2 server (running on windows 2008 r2) as per many of the blogs guide, but I think the reason that I am not getting any alerts through is that you need to discover the network device via the snmp protocol before you can monitor
    it (ucmp not enough).
    Has anyone had a similar situation and found a solution? Would a SMNP proxy work?

    As you figured out already, you do have to be able to discover the device using SNMP get. Otherwise SCOM will not accept traps.
    Yes, you could use a SNMP proxy. There are just forwarders or ones that write the trap into the event log from where you could get them using an event log rule/monitor.
    Or you could use System Center Orchestrator and raise an alert in SCOM directly.

  • Need text based app for iPhone that backs up only to wired iTunes

    I don't mind using iCloud or Dropbox for most of my files, but there is one file I won't use them for.  My manually created username and passwords document.
    This used to be accomplished by using Apple's Notes on the iPhone which would backup automatically when Notes on the Mac was imbedded in Mail.  Since I upgraded to OS X 10.9 Notes on the Mac is a stand alone app and, I guess, will only sync with Mail on the iPhone through the iCloud.  Therefore I'm looking for some simple, but reliable app that I can use to create and maintain a simple list on both the iPhone and the Mac that does NOT use cloud based services to sync data.
    Yes, I may be paranoid, but I will not compromise this particulat data.

    I would say it's time to switch to a password manager app, such as 1Password. It encrypts your data and will sync between Mac and iOS through Dropbox. The app itself requires a password in order to view the content.
    I totally understand your hesitance to put your content in the cloud, but this may be the way to go.
    You might want to see if there are any other note-taking apps that will allow you to export the data through iTunes - it won't necessarily "sync" to an app on your Mac but you would at least be able to save the file and transfer back & forth via USB.
    Alternatively, downgrade your Mac to an earlier version of OS X.

    i cant get rid of the other users ID,  i have tired to remove this id many many times,  it will let me use my ID to do updates but it will nto let me do the updates associated that id the original user.  any  ideas

    Actually, that is for devices that have been set to automatically download or you have used to redownload previously purchased items.
    They will show until you delete them.

    Can you please clarify what exactly you want to know, your request can be interpreted in a few different ways.
    If you are concerned that people have access to all user groups, then you need to remove access to S_QUERY activity 02 and I think activity 23.  They will lose access to all user groups that they are not assigned to via SQ03.

    Our analytic server is properly configured in Shared Services : we can correctly create users, provision Essbase access for those users, change password, etc...
    An application business rules is visible in the left pane of shared services, but we are not able to provision Business rules access for users.
    When we try to provision access for a user, we have only access to the Analytic properties.
    What's going wrong ?

    It sounds like the user you login to HSS with hasn't been assigned with "Provisioning Mgr" rights to business rules.
    Get the HSS admin user to grant you these rights and you should then be able to provision users to use Business RUles.

    Sync your iPhone to iTunes, and see if that does the trick.  Also you could try a Soft Reset with no Risk to Data.  Holding down both the Sleep button and the Home button until the Apple logo appears and then waiting for the Reset to bring you iPhone back to the lock screen.    Are you trying to add the email at Settings>Messages>Send and Receive from (2 Addresses) your iPhone number and your email address?
