Loss of DNS connection and internet access to camera

I seemed to have lost my connection after a power outage last week. I've reconfigured the camera several times and it still seems to lose it's settings (date, static IP) I've checked the port forward settings which are fine. I see the camera on my PC utility and within my network. There is also a error on the camera that it hasn't been able to contact the DDNS server on it's scheduled updates. Any suggestions. I'm using the Linksys router WRT54GX2.

Hi....
As you are losing the settings on the camera i would like u to upgrade the camera firmware.
Also upgrade the router firmware.
After upgrading the camera and the router firmware, reset the devices and then reconfigure it.
After reconfiguring the camera, login into the camera setup page, go to setup and then sololink DDNS and click on Update now.
Check whether you are able to access the camera  remotely.

  • RRAS VPN performance and Internet access which connecting to RRAS VPN

For the first time, I setup win2008R2 RRAS VPN(L2TP and SSTP ) in Azure VM for my client.
I am running Package Application which include SQL2008 in that  VM.
I plan that remote user connect from client application using RRAS VPN to Application server in Azure VM.
But I am worrying about the performance bottle net due to network speed reason.
I am not yet make sure network environment of my client ( my client is living in USA ).
    1
But if we decide to use RRAS VPN for that application , which kind of VPN(PPTP,L2TP,SSTP,IKE) will be better in network speed?
    2
I noticed that which connecting to RRAS VPN, I could not connect to the Internet from remote client PC.
Is there any way to enable RRAS VPN access and Internet access at same time ?

    Hi,
    1. PPTP is the easiest protocol to use for setting up VPN. And it have minimal security.
L2TP/IPSec, SSTP and IKEv2 was more security than PPTP.
IKEv2 can provide a secured uninterrupted ubiquitous VPN connectivity.
Here are good article about comparing four types of VPN,
Different VPN tunnel types in Windows - which one to use?
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/rrasblog/archive/2009/01/30/different-vpn-tunnel-types-in-windows-which-one-to-use.aspx
    2. Two common scenarios cause the problem that connected client can’t browse the Internet. First, the VPN server might not let remote clients access the Internet when they have a connection. In this case, when we close the VPN connection,
the client can browse the Internet because the default gateway reverts to the gateway that ISP defines. Second, Windows might overwrite the ISP gateway with the VPN server-defined gateway when the client connects, so the client has no path to the Internet.
We may need to uncheck the use default gateway on remote network to solve this problem.
    Best Regards,
    Tina

  • Need Help with Laptops and Internet Access

I have been having difficulties during the past week with my internet access.  I had been using FIOS for a couple months with few problems.  Initially, I thought the problem was related to thunderstorms that passed thru our area a week ago, and wondered if the router had been damaged during the storms.  But now I suspect it may be a more pedestrian issue with the computers' settings.
I have the Actiontec M1424WR router.  With the power on, the power, internet, coax, and wireless lights are glowing and green.  I have tried rebooting the router, and have used the various "fix my connection" and optimizer tools available from online support here.
We have 4 PCs in the home, all with wireless adapters.  Two are desktop PCs, the other two are an HP (XP) and a Dell (Vista) laptop.  I am generally able to get internet access on the desktop PCs, since these have linksys wireless adapters with the linksys utilitiy installed, and I have a profile created in the linksys utility that usually works fine with the desktop units.
But there is no such utility for the laptop units with their built-in adapters, and I must use Windows services to connect to the network and the internet.  I can sometimes find available networks with the Windows services, and connect to the network manually.   But many times, the SSID for our network will not be listed as avaialble, and at other times, the Windows service says that I have a network connection, but it will not connect to the Internet.  And even when connections are made, they will intermittently be dropped.
Is there anything I can do to make the network and internet access for these laptops once again reliable?
    Thanks,
    Rich
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Here is the possible scenario:
Your router was configured correctly, and all was working well.
Thunderstorms knocked out power, and your router reverted to it's original setting ("automatic channel selection").
Now you have intermittent connectivity due to the change in configuration.
When you go into your router to change the channel, check to see if there is an option to "keep current channel settings after power cycle".  If so, check that box.

  • TC & MBP - complete loss of wireless connection and usage

I apologise in advance if this is a very long winded post! I've been an Apple fan for some 20 years now and it's only in the last three months that my love affair is starting to wane due to (what seems to me) poor hardware releases.
    My setup:
    1 x PowerBook G4 1.25Ghz with Edimax 802.11n PC Card
    1 x MBP 2.4Ghz (purchased April 2008) with AirPort 802.11n
    1 x Time Capsule 500Gb
1 x Airport Extreme Base Station Gigabit Ethernet edition
    1 x Netgear DG384 v2 (wired only) modem router
1 x standard ADSL connection (8Mbps) from a UK ISP (and yes, 8Mb is about the norm for the UK! Though in reality, it means closer to 4Mb...)
The Netgear router is connected to the ADSL line and is set up as the DHCP server for the network. I have a Fixed IP address from my ISP. The Time Capsule is connected via ethernet to the Netgear router. The TC is set up in Bridge mode as the router serves DHCP. The TC is wall mounted via the excellent AirMount from H-Squared.
The TC has been through a myriad of configurations in an attempt to create a stable wireless environment since its purchase in April. Prior to my recent holiday (two weeks in Greece - hurrah!), the current configuration was solid for both Macs.
The config is: Bridge mode; 2.4Ghz N Only wireless; WPA2 secured; no MAC address access control restrictions (so pretty straightforward). The TC is running firmware 7.3.1. It is setup as "Create a Wireless Network"
Both Macs are running OS X 10.5.3 with all of the latest updates including AirPort Utility 5.3.2.
It took me about six weeks to hit upon this config for the TC having had many wireless drop outs, stalled connections, lost internet connections (ie. I could access the TC HDD but could not access the internet using the same wireless connection). So much frustration in the early days - I tried many of the solutions on this forum but to no avail until I hit upon the 2.4Ghz N Only route which seemed to be the answer to all my problems.
Prior to leaving on holiday, I unplugged all of the equipment in the room including the TC and the router. When I returned, I restarted everything in a logical sequence - router first (and waited for a connection), then the TC and then the Macs.
From this point on the problems have started. The PB G4 with the wireless card has a more or less stable connection. The wireless card connects immediately to the TC but then it takes approximately 30-60 seconds for an internet connection to work (so I see a lot of the Not connected to the internet messages in Safari). It seems to immediately get an IP address from the router via the TC but then the internet connection itself takes a while to come up.
The MPB on the other hand is a nightmare. Since returning from holiday I have not been able to get a workable wireless connection at all. In no particular order, the problems that the MBP exhibits are as follows (these can occur at the same time or individually):
    i) only returns a self-assigned IP address; renewing the DHCP lease does not fix the problem
ii) does not see the network at all (although it will see others in the vicinity)
iii) cannot connect to the network - returns the Connection Timeout error or very occasionally the Password Incorrect error; I have tried connecting the network via the AirPort menu bar item, via Join another network... from the menu bar, via the Network selection menu in System Preferences > Network and even via Internet Connect - all with no success
iv) sometimes I am able to connect to the network but no IP address is received. Having checked the TC logs, it shows the same error occurring over and over again:
    Jun 26 22:06:04 Severity:5 Associated with station 00:1e:c2:ba:78:6c
    Jun 26 22:06:07 Severity:5 Deauthenticating with station 00:1e:c2:ba:78:6c (reserved 2).
    Jun 26 22:06:07 Severity:5 Disassociated with station 00:1e:c2:ba:78:6c
The MBP connects but is immediately thrown off the network.
So to all intents and purposes, the wireless aspect of the MBP and the TC are completely useless.
When I use a wired (ethernet) connection to the TC everything is joyful. Instant IP address assignment, excellent connection speeds, no drop outs and so on. So as far as I can ascertain, the TC is working fine with the exception of the wireless/wireless security.
The AEBSn that is connected to the same network no longer appears in Airport Utility.
Having read through many posts here, I have tried many solutions including:
    - downgrading the FW to 7.3; no difference at all
    - turning off wireless security; no difference at all
    - changing channels; I've tried 1, 6, 9, 11 and 13 with no difference at all
    - changing the wireless mode; B/G, G only, N only all make no difference (I can't use 5Ghz N only as the PB G4 does not support this and I need both Macs wirelessly connected)
    - rebooting the TC (both via Airport Utility and 'power off'); makes no difference
    - reinstalled OS X 10.5.1 (via the install disks that came with the MBP) using the Archive & Install feature; then used the Combo updater to upgrade directly to 10.5.3; once again, no difference.
I have not yet done a hard reset as this has made no difference in the past but obviously I will try it.
    In other words, HELP!
I am stymied. I have tried so many solutions offered on here and on the likes of MacFixIt and other Mac forums none of which have brought back my wireless connection for the MBP.
The MBP works very well with other wireless connection. For example, at work, we have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router connected to a BT leased line. I have not had a single connection issue for three months with this setup. Similarly, whilst on holiday, I used many different hot spots and had no issues with the wireless connection. All of this evidence leads me to suspect that the MBP is not the issue.
From what I can tell, the problem seems to be in the wireless security on the TC. It seems to prevent access by MBP (though not the PB G4 using a wireless card) but disabling security did not change the error messages shown in the log or the lack of connectivity.
It is a real shame that I cannot get a satisfactory working environment with the TC as the concept is great. The reality is, however, that it is unusable in its current condition and loathe as I am to try and return it or replace it, I am rapidly coming the conclusion I will have to.
Before I do, however, I am hoping that the genii who exist on these forums may be able to proffer some ideas or solutions that I haven't yet tried.
My sincere thanks will go to anyone who provides a solution for me. There may even be beer involved as a mark of gratitude!!
Thanks for reading and fingers crossed someone knows something special...

Smokerz: thanks for the reply and the advice. Not really in a position to set up a dual network at the moment due to the positioning of the TC and the AEBS but if I get an opportunity to try it I will.
I have temporarily given up with the TC as the router for the wireless network. I've installed a Vigor 2820n modem router (it's the only one I could find that has a Gigabit port - only one though) as well being a modem (ADSL) router. Thus far, everything seems fine - although I have had a couple of drop outs due (I think) the AirPort connection on the MBP. And interestingly, I've set up the TC as a "test" wireless network using the Vigor's internet connection and it's way more stable than with the Netgear router. So perhaps it's a combination of many factors - the poor Netgear router, the TC and the MBP AirPort connection - that was causing the issues.
I'll give 10.5.4 a go as well and see if that helps at all.
Thanks to all who read the question - if anyone else has thoughts I'd be delighted to hear them.

  • Lion 10.7.3:  WiFi is connected, but internet access is delayed

This issue may be discussed somewhere else here, and if so I'm sorry for reposting this problem.  I have a Macbook Pro bought around June 2011.  I just updated the firmware to 10.7.3  Everytime I wake the macbook from sleep, the wifi connects immediatley, dropbox syncs immediatley, but chrome or safari won't load pages until a couple minutes after connecting.  I thought it may be a firewall problem, and I allowed connections to Chrome, but that didn't fix the problem.  Has anyone else been having issues with internet after the patch?

I suggest you talk to your local college support person.  It seems that internet access might be disabled and you need to get them to help you get it enabled.

" We could not Complete your iTunes store request. A Secure Network connection could not be Established." then in smaller words below it, it says:"Check your computers date and Time are correct and try agsain."
My Date and time settings are correct, what does this have to do with my iTunes store purchase and iTunes account?????
what is going on here? what is wrong? and what do I need to do to fix this?
is the iTunes store system down?
I have tried to download a app game and now the game is in waiting mode and I can't delete it off from my iPod Touch and it is not showing in my computer apps lists just in my iPod Touch.

    *Think I Fixed It!*
Used Keychain Utility to remove all untrusted and expired certificates. I had several. And I removed all stored passwords related to iTunes. Quit out of iTunes. Came back into iTunes. Logged out of my iTunes Store account (which it would not let me do before this). And logged back in. All is good now.
Could be coincidental I suppose but I had only moments before tried to log out of the iTunes Store account before doing the above and it was not working then.
Be cautious. Don't delete any certs that don't have RED X's on them.

  • Frequent loss of 4G connection and inability to reconnect

I have a Pantech UML290 running on a new laptop.  Operating system is Windows 7.  In my travels I've used my system in various areas listed as having 4G with no appreciable difference in performance.  Have had ongoing problems with maintaining connection and ongoing difficulty reestablishing a connection once lost.  Shortly after computer boot up or the first time trying to connect after having been operating for a while, a connection is frequently established in less than a minute.  If I try to reestablish after having lost a connection I get a device not available error or if not that, it may go off and think about connecting for many minutes or even more than an hour before finally connecting, if it does.  Pretty consistently, if I reboot, I can reestablish a connection in seconds. Not at all convenient to have to reboot...  I have spent substantial time on the phone with tech support, swapped out the modem, and in general been disappointed in the reliability of this system.  I previously had a 3G modem that was rock solid and reliable and was very satisfied with its performance.  A few weeks back I accepted the popup to check for updates and access manager went through an update including firmware update to the modem.  After the update the system would not connect at all and repeatedly gave the device not available error (an error # tech support doesn't seem to be familiar with).  I did look in my notes for the error number to include here to no avail...  I managed to uninstall the update and located an earlier version of access manager (ver 7.6.3.4 (2642j) which has run reasonably well since.  This lack or reliability/predictability is a real problem as I use this for business. Just got another notice to update.  Any suggestions.

Sent you a PM to address the issue that you are having.  If it fixes your issue or decreases the amount of times that it occurs let me know so I can share it here.

  • HT4437 Can you use airplay to stream from an iPad to a TV with a network connection without internet access

Can you use airplay to stream from an iPad to a TV with a network connection without internet access

Yes, you can use a network storage device for the storage of your content and use it on the Apple TV, but only as part of your iTunes library. So if your question is whether or not you can do this without using your computer or iTunes the answer is no.

  • My Airport Extreme is flashing yellow, but I still have internet connections and iPhone access to the network.  Does this mean that my network has been hacked or something else?

The light on my Airport Extreme is flahing yellow, but I still have network access to the internet with no issues.  PLus, I can still get into the network with my iPhone, too.
DO I have a problem (such as net work being hacked)?
Was going to shop and don't want my cc number scattered all over creation.
    Thanks.

    Suggest the following:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Status (2nd line on the summary page)
A window will open to explain why the amber light is blinking and offer suggested actions to remedy things.
If everything seems to be working OK, it might simply be a message that an update is available for your AirPort Extreme.
Now you know what to do next time the amber light is blinking.

    Base on the limit info.
Make sure you have a password for you incoming and outgoing mail server.
If that doesn't work, delete the account and set it up again.
If that doesn't work, then contact your email provider.

  • E71x Dial-up connection for internet access on ph...

When I lived in Africa I would use either google talk or skype to speak with my family back in the States. Wifi was extremely rare especially in my area so I had to connect via a dial-up connection. When I bought my E71x, I installed "Fring" on it (an amazing app) and I am able to call and speak to someone on google talk or skype over my phone. My question is, how do I setup a dialup access point for my cell phone so that I can access the internet and google talk/skype by that connection? Thanks, Joshua

I don't use either Fring or Skype in my handset, I use a program called truphone from www.truphone.com and the network settings enable you to use it via 3G GPRS or WiFi.
You should check with your network operator that this is permitted, as most see VoIP services as revenue loss and will disable the ports or charge extra for the service.

  • Though WiFi connection, no Internet access!

I am so frustrated!! I hope to find some help.
Though I seem to have full WiFi connection on all of my devices, I can not access the internet with two of them.
There can be NO problem with the router, as this happens with any other network connected as well.
    1. MacBook Pro runs slow but smooth (I am in China, so occasionally something breaks down due to censorship)
    2. iPhone 4 AND iPad 2.  It seems connected. But I have no access to iTunes Store, AppStore, Safari, VPN or any other Apps requiring Internet connection. I cannot even delete them from the cloud because of no "connection".  BUT i can use on the iPhone (only) WhatsApp and weChat. Nothing else!! ...I don't understand...
    I rebooted both many times
    Reseted Network settings many times
    Please help with any ideas!!
    Cheers, Veronica

First confirm the working network specs on the Mac. In System Preferences / Network / Wi-Fi / Advanced… / TCP/IP determine the IP address, net mask and router address and in the DNS tab, those server addresses (min. 1, max 3). Note also the Network Name before clicking on Advanced… All this if on Wi-Fi, else select the Ethernet item in the Network (no Network Name in that case)
On the iGadgets, Settings / Wi-Fi / <your SSID> and tap on the i in a circle. The SSID should be the same as the Mac's Network Name if all on Wi-Fi. The leftmost part of the IP address must be the same, as must also coincide with the net mask, router and DNS addresses. If anything is different, try to determine why the iGadget does not coincide with the known-good Mac config. Or holler back for help.
All the above assuming you are set up for IPv4 internetworking. If it is all on IPv6 (hugely long IP addresses) holler back for help.

You have an issue with the local network. Pings to your local network device should be in the order of 5-10ms tops..
Look at your first line.. 2293ms that is over 2sec for the local router to respond.. but it is likely that little box that is the problem. You will get some websites simply time out if they take that long to respond.
Let me recommend you either get some help from ATT or get a local technician to fix it. There are other better ways to connect things.. in the end getting it cabled with ethernet is the best. Buy a long long ethernet cable if you want to have a test.. so you can plug the TC into the modem. Bypass the HPNA over cable slug.
