Lost content of Site Manager

I have no idea how this happened. I opened Dreamweaver CS3
and all sites I had in the site manager are gone. Is there any way
to get them back. Where are those files stored on a Mac? They
should be on a backup disk.

Make sure you export them this time! 8(

  • No content available in iTunes U Public Site Manager

I'm an admin for our university's iTunes U account, and for the last few weeks every time I log in through the site manager, I am able to log in, but none of the content loads. The only navigation options I have are "Collections" and "Courses," (no Reports, Pages, etc.) and both of those are empty, though our content is available through the iTunes Store.
I've logged in on multiple machines, and have made sure I'm using the current version of Safari (5.1.7) and have had the same result. Another one of our admins logged in and had the same problem, though one of our contributors was able to log in and access her content as usual.
I was able to create a new collection, but that is the only collection that is available.
Any thoughts about what might be going on?

Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't work either

  • ITunes U Public Site Manager and adding new content

Probably just me missing something, but I am in the iTunes U Public Site Manager looking to add content to an existing collection. Since the update, I can't seem to find the "add to collection" button that used to exist. Can anyone help? Thanks.

    Duncan,
I appreciate your willingness to help. The site can be found here:

I am the site administrator, and I want to add content to an existing collection. I have been adding content to existing collections since the site was created several years ago, but since the recent June 1 update to the Public Site Manager things have obviously changed and I cannot seem to find a way to add content. Maybe I am missing something obvious, but I can't seem to figure out how to do this.
As a work around, I created a new apple ID and added it as a "user" and then as a "contributor" to the collection I want to add content to. I then logged out and then in again as this new contributor, and I was able to add the content as before (the update). I was hoping that I would be able to log in as the administrator and upload content without having to use another login.

  • Site Manager Update Issue Continues

    Duncan;
It appears that the iTunes U Desktop Application update issue has not been resolved. I added new content to a collection (see attached link) on Friday. As of this morning, the tracks have not appeared in the iTunes U Desktop application (ver. 10.0.1), although they do appear in the Quick View Preview, but cannot be previewed in that window.
The tracks have been available for preview and download all weekend on the iPad and iPhone.

    Greetings All;
Just checking to see what, if anything has happened with the Public Site Manager Update issue on your campus or in your office.
I've uploaded content that still hasn't shown up in the iTunes Desktop Application in over two weeks.
Oddly enough, I have added URL's to our site, and that information shows up within an hour of Publishing the site.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced a resolution of the issue.

Unless you previously exported all your site definition setting and saved them to a safe place (i.e. an external drive, local or remote site folder), you must manually recreate them in CS6 via  Site > Manage Sites > New...

  • Odd Behavior in Public Site Manager

    Greetings All;
Is anyone else experiencing unusual behavior in Public Site Manager?  Specifically, after I created a new Collection and
began to add content, I began to get a "Sorry, this page is currently being edited. Please try again later." message.
Also, my session seems to "time out" almost immediately.

Hi Duncan - I work with about six collections in Wellesley College's iTunes U site. Is there any specific information that might help you?
Late last afternoon around 2-3, I was able to publish my item (essentially by going to the item which was already visible in the collection and resaving it/signing out very quickly before the timeout had a chance to get me.) After that, I had noticed that the timeouts were no longer occuring as quickly, but the next time I logged in I got an odd error when I clicked the "return to collections manager" link. Unfortunately I did not think to copy the error, though it was a white page and looked like some sort of script error.
However, when I went back to take a screenshot of it today, everything looks fine as far as I can see. No unnaturally quick timeouts or links throwing errors. (I do still get the "sorry, currently being edited" if I close the browser on a collection without properly signing out, but as far as I'm aware that is normal.)
I will try to find some new content to upload and report back if there are any problems with that. But for now it looks like we're fine here.
Best of luck with your own, Syd.

  • I only see Web Forms & Email in Site Manager

Why do I only see Web Forms & Email settings in the Site Manager for a WebMarketing Site? Where did everything else go? I'm trying to upload a pdf file and that function is gone in BC.

    Hi,
If you have published the site via Muse, Please try this
In Admin Panel, on your Right Hand side top, Mouse over on your name and Go to "My Details". You will see a check box "Enable online content editing". Check this box, Click save and logout. Login again, and goto site manager, you will see some more options like File manager
Please let me know if you have any other query.

  • My site manager is missing some elements

trying to set a default page when i go to site manager default pages are not listed i upgraded to from web basic to web marketing last night any thoughts?

    Hi there,
Go into your site settings and enable editing of content.

  • Site Manager Menu option not there

I watched the BC gurus tutorial and looked at online docs. There is no Site Manage> Menu option in the manage area for this site. It makes it impossible to add or modify menus. The Content Holder gives no options to create specifically a menu.
This has to be easy or it is really a bad change. It is easier to develop in DW than BC. That is not good.
I'm the admin and logged in as admin.

IF you are a paid partner and set up an account you get everything out the box and you should see menu under the site manager like any other. If you are using a creative cloud site these are ONLY webbasic so you wont see anything other then the real basics.
Like Sanjit has said, if you do not feel this should be the case on that site, contact support.

  • Site Manager menu

So i have just upgraded BC from web basic with Creative Cloud to E-Commerce.
When i log back into BC i go to add a secure zone and all i see in the list under Site Manager is Web Forms, and System Emails. Where is the rest of the list? How do i get the full listing that you get when you start a free trial?
    Thank you in advance
    Luke

    Hi Luke,
In Admin panel, on right hand side top corner, click on my details under your name, scroll a bit down, and check the box that says "Enable online content editing" and click on save", refresh your web page. You should have all the options

  • Site manager For network logons

    Hello everyone,
My name is John, and i am an ICT Technician for my school. We
have been using dreamweaver for a few years now, and have come
accross a slight problem with the "site manager" tool. Basically,
we have 2000 Network users who we are looking to use this tool. The
user can set up the site with no problem, but the information is
lost when they log off the network. So, when they log on they will
have to set it up again.... What can be done to fix this problem?
Any ideas will be gladly recived :)
    Thanks,
    John

    > All the "Site manager" features work properly. However,
    > when we log off, ALL the data to do with the MY SITE
    profile has been removed.
question- is this machine running some kind of "rollback"
    software whose job
is to wipe out any changes to a person's profile or
    non-approved registry
entries? This has come up before in questions about school
    lab computers not
saving site information. At shutdown or at midnight, the
    entire computer is
restored to a predefined state automatically
If there is such software on the machine- see if there is a
    way in it's
settings/preferences to have it allow dreamweaver site
    entries to the
    registry and not wipe them.
otherwise- a work-around is to have the students use the
    Export button to
create an .ste site definition backup file. Put that in a
    place that's not
to be wiped. Then next work session, dw
    menu-->site-->Manage Site-->Import
that .ste file and the site def is restored.

  • Where are all of my "Site Manager" items on my Admin Console?

I feel like I am flooding the forum with Newbie Questions and maybe this one will answer other questions I have asked.  I just recently upgrade from webBasic to webMarketing and I am learning the new things like html for newsletters, etc.  I watch a lot of tutorial videos and read through "How-to's" on Adobe's BC Site and I have been seeing that to do things i need several menu items listed under "Site Manager" such as "Page Templates" and "File Manager".
Well, I only have two things listed under my Admin Console's "Site Manager" menu tab.  Do I not have the other options because I need to upgrade to webCommerce? See attached photo and note the clear screenshot of my admin console menu on the left and a menu from a tutorial I am wanting to follow but can't because I don't have the wide variety of menu options.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AHOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!  Today is a great day, for I have found all of the answers to all of my problems! LOL
So I was the creater the site and did everything with the admin setup...bought BC subscriptions, etc. and the thing I needed to do was view "My Details" from my admin name in the upper right and click this little box that says "Enable online content editing (incompatible with Muse)".
Now I just need to figure out how to do things when my entire site is made in Muse and I know no HTML lol.
    Thanks.

  • Need to move old private site to public site manager

Rutgers would like to move all or at least most of the content of our old private site to public site manager. How do I do that?

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • Custom Categories in Public Site Manager

    Hello,
I'm currently working on transitioning our school's site using the new Public Site Manager. I understand how tagging works, building collections, categories, and tag lists. However, I've been unable to create custom categories so I'm able to best organize our content. I've read the admin guide. I keep coming back to 'How to Categorize Content' and 'Specifying an Initial Category and Sub-category', however, can't seem to find how to create my own categories. Am I overlooking instructions for customizing categories so I can properly tag our content? Any assistance in getting to this point would be amazing.
    Thanks!!
    Nikki

Ok, so I finally figured this part out. Go to 'Collections' and properly tag all of your content. Then go to 'Pages' and under 'Provider Page', click on the title of your institution. Under Text Lists choose to 'Add List'. Click the gear icon to edit. Give your tags a title and select everything you want to live under that section. The tags will move from 'Tags' to 'Selected Tags'. Choose Done. Now I have what I was referring to as Custom Categories, these Tag Lists appear in addition to the default categories Apple makes available to you. If you have any tags that aren't associated with a Tag List they will appear at the bottom of the 'Pages' page and it will show an 'Inactive' status for each specific tag that isn't properly associated yet. It was kinda freaking me out that there was a message saying that the following pages are inactive or scheduled to be deleted. You just need to follow through with creating a Tag List for them. I think getting used to the new terminology was hanging me up a little bit, but slowly it's all starting to make sense.
I hope this helps some of you out there who are also getting started.
    ~Nikki

  • I cannot Publish my site after using the Publish Public Site Manager. An error, with no explanation is returned.

The problem we’re having has to do with transitioning our existing Easter I Tunes U site over to an iTunes U Public site as the instructions below tell us to do.
    -          I can access the itunes U Public Site Manager fine with my ID.
    -          I was able to make some changes to our existing site to get it ready for publishing it to the iTunes U public site format.
    -          I can preview our existing site as a new Public Site fine from within the Public Site Manager application.
    -          However, when I try to Publish it I get an error that says :   An error has occurred during the publishing of your content. Try again
Looking for some support to tell me what we’re not doing correctly to migrate our existing site over.

    Here are the answers
Eastern CT State University is no longer in the iTunes U directory .    r
The have not migrated their site to iTunes U Public Site Manager. Starting June 2010 we notified all iTunes U site administrators for any site in the iTunes store that they would need to migrate their existing site to iTunes U Public Site Manager in the future. In Feb. 2011 we notified them that the deadline for migration would be April 2011 and that if they had not migrated their site would no longer appear on the list.
For Eastern CT State University to return to the list, they just need to transition over to an iTunes U Public Site Manager based site. Information on how to do so can be found here -http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc/UsingiTunesUPublicSiteManager/CommonQuestions/c hapter_14_section_2.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/iTUPSM-CH5-SW2

    Nick Good ?uestion!
I am the New Admin for The University of New Orleans, and after reading the response to your initial question I think we fall into the category of needing to migrate to Public site manager. But looking at the tutorial which is mainly text, I cannot follow the instructions. Do you have a screen shot of what step two because I cannot find the " iTunes U Public Site Manager in the Tools area."
    Thank you!
