Lost purchased movie

I lost my movie that I purchased on iTunes. How can I get it back?

You can try contacting Apple via the Lost or Missing Items section under Video Purchases on this page http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/ - but Apple are under no obligation to let you re-download it, you should have made one or more backups via your computer

  • Lost purchased movies

I had previously purchased movies and episodes from tv shows on my old computer which happened to be a pc, it crashed on me, and I can't seem to figure out how to download them.  When I search for the movie in itunes it says purchased, however there is no option to download it again.  Is there a way to recover these movies through iTunes?
Any and all help is much appreciated
    Thank You,
    Chrissy

Whether or not you can re-download content is entirely up to the content owners and whether they're willing to allow it. The US movie studios have only recently agreed, and those holding the rights for other countries have not yet done so. Where you or I, or Apple for that matter, stand on the issue is irrelevent.
I don't know what you mean when you say that you tried backing up a purchased movie but were "blocked"; backing up a movie file is very easy, done just as you would backing up any other file on your computer. I've done it for multiple movies without any problems whatsoever. You cannot burn a purchased movie to video DVD, if that's what you meant; again, the content owners do not allow that.
If some other service such as Vudu suits you better, though, by all means use it.
    Regards.
(and yes, I know that this thread is rather old, but wanted to provide information for anyone who happens upon this thread).

  • I have lost all my purchased movies and tv shows on my iTunes

Please help as i have lost all my purchases on my apple tv how do i recover these?

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
If the above doesn't work, it is reported iTunes Support permitting a second download when asked nicely, but they are in no way obligated to do this. Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; select 'iTunes' in the first column; 'iTunes Store' in the second column; third column click 'Purchases, Billing & Redemption' and proceed from there.

  • How can I Re-Download Purchased Movies from Itunes store. Somehow I lost The original File?

The movie “The Hunted” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?
The above message appears whenever I try and play a movie from Itunes
Is it possible to Re-Download purchased movies from Itunes as I have lost the original files somehow?

You can re-download music, books, tv shows, and 3rd apps, but not movies.

You have posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question is not related to. You'll get better support responses by posting to the Using iPad forum: https://discussions.apple.com/community/ipad/using_ipad

  • If I delete purchased movies from my ipad to make room for new movies, will they be permanently lost or stored somewhere?

Problem:  I don't have enough storage to download new movies.  If I delete purchased movies from my ipad to make room for new content, will they be lost or stored somewhere?

It depends upon what country that you are in (it's not possible to re-download films in all countries), the film studio (some don't allow re-downloading), and whether they remain in the store (studios occasionally remove them from the store) - what you can currently re-download will show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your iPad.
But you are better off first copying them to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take you own backup copy of them before deleting them, rather than relying on being able to redownload them in the future (and the same applies to other downloaded content)

  • Apple tv lost my purchased movies

My movies were moved from Mac Itunes to apple tv, could not get them back on the mac, then did the recent apple tv upgrade and now my movies are gone. Very frustrating, figure I will just from now on, purchase DVD's and not from apple.

I've owned Macs since 1988, and have never lost a file I didn't want to. Yet, to my disbelief, I lost a movie, 'In Bruges' I purchased in July, 2008. By extraordinary coincidence; AppleTV and iTunes no longer offers this movie for sale, or rent. I've purchased 40 movies and TV shows thru ATV and the iTunes Store, and its the one and only movie, music or TV show that is missing from my 3 HDs on my mac pro.
I've been offered a $5'gift' from Apple–which is not to my satisfaction.

  • I upgraded software on my ipod touch and lost my movies and music.  How do I recover them

I upgraded software on my ipod touch and lost my movies and music.  How do I recover them?

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other media you have to get them from where you originally obtained them

  • HT2693 I lost my movie? The Chronicles of Narnia the first movie, how do I get it back? I had to buy another IPad, so how can I get it back? Please and thank u

I lost my movie. The lost chronicles of Narnia, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe? I might of used a different account, but I don't remember it, and now that that happened I only stick to one that I can remember? Can anyone please help me? I'm not good at this stuff. It's too complicated for me? Thank u very much!!!

First of all unless you live in the U.S., you will have to buy the movie again. Only U.S. residenst have the option of downloading movies again for free. Second of all - not all movies can be downloaded again currently since not all studios are in agreement with Apple to allow this.
So .. if you live in the U.S. - go to iTunes and tap on the purchased tab. Then tap the View button in the upper left corner and select Movies. If the movie shows up - then clcik on the icon and then click on the cloud icon in the Movie window to start the download.
You have to use the same ID that you bought it with. That is the only wat that it will work.

  • HT2729 A purchased movie did not back up from iPad to computer when synced performed

I tried to sync a purchased movie. Did not back up to computer. Also lost artwork for movie picture. Show like a white tv screen

Purchased movies don't backup to iTunes, they should transfer into iTunes via the transfer purchases feature. Make sure that you actually selected the movie to sync in the Movies Tab of iTunes while you are connected to the computer to sync. Then sync again.

  • Unable to download purchased movie in iTunes

I am unable to download a purchased movie from itunes. The download icon spins as if it were downloading but it is not. I am connected to the internet so this is not the problem. I have purchased other movies but on this one I am "stuck in spin".
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the same problem with the '6 iTunes Downloads Available' but was never able to solve it witht the iTunes support, nor the Apple Store Genius bar.  I went through 3 people with the iTunes Online support and in the end they couldn't figure out why my computers (macbook pro 1" and brand new mac mini) iTunes wouldn't download the available downloads.  They are 6 ringtones that I purchased and downloaded successfully on an iphone 4.  Then I took my iphone 4 into the Apple Store and they replaced it and I hadn't synced it to my computer so I lost them.  Then I emailed support and they sent the 6 ringtones to my iTunes account and my computers, iphones and ipads couldn't download them.  In the end they ended up crediting my account with 10 song credits that I could use because they couldn't solve the problem after 6 months.  So now there they sit evertime I'm in iTunes '6 iTunes Downloads Available'.  Sorry I don't have the answer I've tried everything on my own, even erasing my phones and computer then reinstalling everything.

  • HT203180 Cannot sync purchased movies to iPad

Since upgrading to the new OS this morning, I have been unable to load iTunes Store purchased movies to my iPad.  In fact, after I loaded the new system, I lost all of the movies on my iPad.  It did allow the movies that I've ripped from my collection into iTunes to stay on the iPad.  Any suggestions?

Are the movies still in iTunes on the Mac - if they are sync them again. Make sure that they are selected to sync and that the sync movies heading is selected as well.
If the movies are in iTunes and you already tried to sync them with no success - Are you using the same Apple ID on the iPad that you are using in iTunes on the Mac and would that be the ID that you bought the movies with?
If you live in the U.S., many movies can now be downloaded again from iTunes at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to buy the movies. You can download them again in the purchased tab of the iTunes Store on the iPad - tap on the View Movies Button in the upper left corner and your purchased movies will appear. Tap on the cloud icon to download them again.
You can also download them again in iTunes on the Mac and sync them back to the iPad.

  • HT201272 Trying to download lost purchases and it is not working...

I am trying to download my previous music purchases from iTunes.  Some of my music was backed up on an old drive and a lot of the newer purchases were lost.  It says that those files were "downloaded" and I am unable to re-download them. Is there some other way I am able to redownload the purchases that were lost?  Thanks!

If you have the files or partial files somewhere on your device the iTunes store will tell you that they have already been downloaded.  You can try to delete them from your library by holding Option and delete keys.  Then if the store does not detect them,  I think you can fool it into downloading them again.  They say that your purchases are always available even if you delete them.
IF YOU DON'T SEE THE FILES-
    HERE'S WHAT APPLE SAYS:
Note: Downloading of previously purchased movies is available in the United States only.
Open iTunes 10.6 or later on your computer. (You can download the latest version of iTunes here.)
If you're not already signed in, click Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.
After you've signed in, click Purchased on the right side in the iTunes Store under the QUICK LINKS section.
From your Purchased page, click the tab for the content type you're looking for (Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books).
Click Songs or Albums to change the page view and All or "Not in My Library" to view your purchased content that currently is not downloaded on your computer.
Click the download icon to the right of each item to download that item.
    Notes:
To download previous purchases on a computer, your computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that was used for the original purchase. For more information about iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization see, this article.
If they are offered for purchase in 1080p, you can download previously purchased 720p HD TV shows and movies in 1080p. Learn more about downloading in 1080p.
Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer on the iTunes Store. Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.
