Lost the stickies application altogether....

I searched but don't see this specific problem. Upgrading to Snow Leopard, I copied my old Stickies app file to my new Apps directory, not realizing the version of Stickies for SnowLep is incompatible, so when I deleted it, it's completely gone. (Was emptying the trash for other reasons at the time.)
Apart from reinstalling the software - is there any way just to get the stickies app back? I haven't set up my Time Machine and backups yet, this was just as I had finished installing and updating.
I also see something called Sticky Windows - if it works like Stickies, that'd probably work. Any refs or suggested much appreciated.
thanks

Use Pacifist to extract it from the install disk. BTW, you upgraded without making a backup? Not good practice, as described in:

I have been doing Hotsync for years and today, I found out I just lost the Memo Application. It's nowhere to be found and in the Info folder, I can't even find it listed (e.g.. VersaMail is shown to have taken up 1216 K memory) implying it does not even exist in my T5. I tried to Hotsync with my Desktop but it stopped at Memos for more than 90 minutes. The Log did not register the Hotsyncing at all. Is there a way of recovering the lost data in Memos. I have a very bad feeling about this. Can anyone help? I am desperate!

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.  Sorry to read about your stress.
Memos is a core application of the Palm Operating System, so if it is gone from your handheld then something has become corrupt or you managed to delete a critical file.
The only way to restore the Memos application will be to perform a Hard Reset.  This will erase all data from the T5 and restore a fresh copy of the Palm OS including all of the core applications such as Memos.  The downside to this is that all Memos which were on the handheld will be gone...so, if you don't have a copy of them on your desktop, then they are probably gone.  But, the upside is that if you had a previously good Hotsync and a copy of your Memos resides on your desktop, then they will be restored when you first Hotsync after the Hard Reset.
This article discusses the various types of Reset for different Palm devices:

You won't be able to buy Pages from the Mac App Store on 10.6.8. You need to reload it from the original source.

  • Lost the webdynpro application source code

    Hi Experts,
We have some webdynpro applications. Presently running in Portal server.  One of the application is giving the error. we need to fix that issue. Since we don't have any NWDI system, One of  the application source code got corrupted, Kindly let me know is there any we can retrieve the  source from the deployed application or .ear file from Portal.

    Hi Guru,
I think it is not possible to get the whole project structure.
But you can get the java files of your local DC project by logging into your portal using the url http://host_name:5000/nwa.
Navigate to Analysis ->Configuration ->J2EE Configuration Browser . Click on Local System Node ->apps->sap.com. Under sap.com(or the domain you have defined namespace) you can find a u2018src.zipu2019 file. In this u2018srcu2019 folder you can find the java files.
If the error has occurred in your project while modifying particular webdynpro file, then you can get the previous version of the file(file before the error occurred) by navigating to C:\Documents\SAP\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources\.history location in you local system. In history folder you can find all the versions of the webdynpro file which you were modifying till now.

  • Hi, my 2 kids each have an account on my iMac and simultaneously lost the iphoto application and the respective libraries of photos. Mine is ok. Any suggestions to either find their location? Have searched through what I think is as much as I can.

Hi, my 2 kids who have an account each on my iMac have simultaneously lost their iPhoto apps and libraries. Can't find it anywhere. My iPhoto and library still remains. Any suggestions?

Are you sure that's what happened?
Typically, there is one iphoto on your computer and each account uses that, so there's no iPhoto for each account. So if you have they should too. Where is it missing from?
The disappearing libraries: did they rename their accounts by any chance?

  • Lost Stickies Application

Hi, I've been using the Stickies application on my G4 for three years and this morning I tried to open the icon on the dashboard and it refused and a question mark appeared over the icon. I'm not worried about the data because I back that up in .rtf files when I close the program every month or so, but I can't even access the program. I've looked at other forums and tried their advice, i.e., looking in the User Library/Application files for the application, deleting the .plist preference file, etc., but nothing works. A Stickies icon is coming up in my spotlight search, but it looks like an OS 9 icon, and when I go to the OS 9 archive file, I can't find the application there, either. I'm thinking about just moving to a Shareware program called Edgies, but it is too frustrating to not restore functionality to this program...or at least figure out what happened so I can avoid the problem in the future.
    Any help appreciated...

Look in the main level Applications folder, that's where I have mine, not Library/Applications Do a Spotlight search.
It's slightly troubling this has disappeared if you really can't account for it some other way. It might be a good idea to do a bit of maintenance:
Boot from the installer disk, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions. You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer. Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.
[Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214]
[Using Disk Utility in Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672]
    [Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751]
From BDaqua (couldn't have said it better):
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer (Edit: Do not use this disc if it is not the same general version as what you have currently on your computer, e.g. use a Tiger disc for a Tiger drive, not a Panther disc), then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes."
If the application really has vanished, try:

  • Lost the application

    Hello,
I downloaded iphoto buddy onto my Mac and since then I have not been able to open iphoto! It appears as a FOLDER and so I seem to have lost the actual application. I have deleted iphoto buddy and also tried to download and install the latest iphoto update but it wont let me install it as it says there is no eligible iphoto application...
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks
    David

    David
What's happened here is that the application has been "de-recognised" by the OS (sorry for the tortuous english). And while, using the Terminal, it should be possible to reset this, I haven't a clue how. So my solution is to re-install.
You could post on the Using Mac OS X forum describing the problem: my iPhoto has turned from an app to a folder. Perhaps someone there might have the Terminal commands to repair the situation.

  • Lost the iTunes app - how do I recover it?

At some point, I lost the iTunes application on my iPhone. I cannot figure out how to bring it back. Help?
    Much obliged.

The Restrictions passcode is included with your iPhone's backup.
If you don't remember your Restrictions passcode, you will need to restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. If you restore your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, you will restore the Restrictions passcode that you don't remember.

  • Somehow, after updating from Tiger to Leopard, I've managed to lose my Stickies application from the dock.

I upgraded my non-intel Powerbook G4 from Tiger to Leopard and then to 10.5.8.  While reinstalling my files, I dragged the 10.4.11 Stickies app onto the desktop from my backup.  Somehow, I got confused when the computer asked if I wanted to replace the old version with the newer version.  I think the computer saw the dragged old applicaton as the new one that came in Leopard.  Obviously I made the wrong choice and lost the Leopard Stickies.  They came off of the dock and also are not located in Applications on the HD.  The old copy from the Tiger backup can't be opened.
How can I get the Leopard Stickies back??  All I can think is to reload Leopard and I can't face that right now.  Any ideas as to how to get them back relatively painlessly?

Search these discussions for "pacifist" and you should find a link to a utility that will allow you to extract the application from the installer.

All apps on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch should be in your iTunes library on your computer.
You can re-download all 3rd party apps and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the apps that was used to purchase the app originally.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Do this with iTunes on your computer. After you have re-downloaded every app one by one, select Sync Apps under the Apps tab for the device's sync preferences along with selecting the apps below that you want transferred to the device followed by a sync to re-install the apps on the device.
