LOV value binding to nonbasetable column in Jclient (Jdev9032)

how can I bind LOV to a nonbase table column ?
If I have a form for EMP data maintainess,
in EMP table there's deptid,
in empview view object I join the deptname into the view,
panel display both deptid and deptname,
I create a LOV
(using JButton LOV data Binding) for deptid,
select both deptid and deptname in LOV view,
I can assign deptid data binding from LOV,
But if I add one more assignment
for deptname (non-base-table column),
the button will totlly disable while inserting.
if not ,I cannot display deptname after performmed the
dept selection?

Hi,
what do you mean by But if I add one more assignment
for deptname ? Dou mean that you want to have the LOV to return the deptname to an attribute, so that deptid and deptname are returned? Please give me a better idea of what you are trying to do.
Thanks

  • LOV SQL query dependent on column value

    Hi Gurus,
    I have a tabular form, a column of which I would like to display as a dropdown whose list of values is a SQL query containing a where clause on another column value.
    For example, say the tabular form displays questions, and that the answers to the different questions are to be picked in list of values that are different for each question. I have tried the following queries for the dropdown list of values:
    1- select value_text, value_text from list_of_values_table where question_id=#QUESTION_ID#
    2- select value_text, value_text from list_of_values_table where question_id=:QUESTION_ID
    3- select value_text, value_text from list_of_values_table where question_id=&QUESTION_ID.
    In the 3 cases, I get an error when I run the application saying that the SQL statement is incorrect.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Guillauem

    Anton,
    Yes, I am creating a region based on a sql query. The query is the following:
    select q.id quest_id, q.name, q.data_type_id, q.lov_flag, a.id answer_id, a.answer_text, a.org_id
    from gwb_questions q left join gwb_answers a on q.id=a.question_id, gwb_answers ans right join gwb_orgs o on ans.org_id=o.id
    where q.MODULE_ID=:P2_MODULE_ID and o.id=:P2_ORG_ID
    Now, in the 'answer_text' column, I would like to display a dropdown containing values that come from a separate table and that depend on the value of the quest_id column. So in the Column Attributes for 'answer_text', I selected Select List (query based LOV) for the Tabular Form Element, and I entered the query mentioned before in the List of Values section (select value_text, value_text from list_of_values_table lov where lov.question_id= ?).
    I am not using any API.
    Does that make sense?
    Thanks for your help,
    Guillaume

  • Displaying item value on basis of pop up lov value

    Hi ,
    I have created a form on which i have a pop up lov item whose values are getting displayed on basis of a table column.Now my requirement is that when a user select a value(for ex: say an code i.e 123) from pop up lov then on basis of this value an another value pops up which shows the description related to this code.I have this description in another column of same table from which i have displayed pop up lov values.
    I tried to implement this by creating a display only item on form and taking source value of this item from sql query returning single value as code is primary key but I am unable to fetch value.I have written the following query:
    select model_code from BL_VEHICLE_ENGINE_NAME where catalog_code=:p9_catalog_code
    Here p9_catalog_code is the item displaying pop up lov.
    when i am specifying a particular value rather than bind value as (select model_code from BL_VEHICLE_ENGINE_NAME where catalog_code=123) then the description corresponding to this value is getting displayed through display only item.
    How can i fetch value from pop up lov and utilize that value to display required description.Is displaying description through display only item correct or is there any other way around through which this description could be displayed more effectively.
    Thanks
    Abhi

    Hi Abhi,
    Instead of pop up lov you can use cascade lov ie when u have data like say if u select code from ur table 123 and it has more than one description then u can use cascade lov it will query upon the first lov what u required.
    Or coming to ur problem
    for code pageitem say p1_code u are using pop lov (you can try select list instead of pop up lov )
    and for description u r using display column.
    and give the source as return single query only
    select descp from table where code=:P1code.
    Hopes this helps you
    Thanks & Regards

  • Encountering Error in webadi : "&Value is invalid. Enter a valid value for the Mapping column &Column"

    We are having a custom WebADI, containing a field (Employee Name) which is a LOV.
    The LOV has ID : Person ID, Meaning : Employee name, Description : Position Name.
    There are multiple records with same Employee name but different Person ID.
    If I select an Employee in the LOV which has multiple records (through different IDs), I am getting an error in WebADI:
    "Enter a valid EMPLOYEE_NAME.
    XX is invalid. Enter a valid value for the Mapping column EMPLOYEE_NAME"
    The Query for the LOV is correct and is returning correct records.
    Any pointers on this issue highly appreciated.

    Hi,
    The problem could be with HR security profile attached to the responsibility from where you are launching the spreadsheet. Check it once.

    4. I think problem maybe is related with row key, but I need end user to change rowkey column value. does it allow changing the value of column as row key? I found this problem maybe only occur for new created row. For those existing rows, even I change the value of row key column, no such problem occurred, how do I handle this situation?
    Appriciate if anybody can help.

    Hi Bangaram,
    Thank you for your reply.
    The error: "Root cause error code is JBO-34014. Error message parameters are {0=oracle.jbo.Key[21 null ], 1=root} "
    I didn't create master records, I just used joint queries for information display of both master and detail. I am trying to create a row in the UI table to create a new detail record and master record already exists.
    The row key for new added row in UI rich table is [21 null ], row key of detail records table composes of 2 columns. 21 is for FixedSlotId and null is for SlotFromN. when I provide a new value for SlotFromN column in UI rich table, problem will occur.

  • Populating a report column(Popup lov) based on the other column.

    I have a report where a column that is a Popup Lov(Query based LOV) needs to be populate based on another column in the same report.
    For example, if the column1 has query based lov select statment "select a,b,c from tab where d= *<<col2>>* ".
    I would like to have a sql query based on the values of second report column. Any ideas are appreciated.
    Regards,
    madhu

    You can do that only if you use apex_item. See this example as a reference:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:176
    In this example the second select list query depends on the first select list column value.

  • How to set the LOV value programmatically?

    Hello,
    I have a LOV (select list with submit) the value (displayed and corresponding returned) of which I would like to set by selecting a row in a report.
    What is the event I use to catch the selection of the row in the report and what would be the sample code to set the LOV values?
    Thanks a lot!
    Gabor

    Perhaps a more detailed explanation of the issue helps:
    I am developing an online internet bookmarking application. It basically contains a folder tree and bookmarks within the folders.
    The folder tree is implemented by a table referencing itself (main columns are: ID, NAME, PARENT_ID).
    The LOV lists the NAMEs (actually, the full path of each folder as returned by a function) and returns the IDs.
    When the user selects a NAME, folders and bookmarks contained in that folder are listed in a report (non-recursively).
    The action of the user clicking a folder in the report should simulate the above as if they selected the name manually. This is where I need help!
    I hope this helps. Thanks!

  • How to change the dynamically  LOV value to old value if it errors out

    We have an use case like when a value is selected from LOV, some validations(EO validations) occur on that and if the validation fails we are throwing exception.But the new value is appearing in LOV text box. We need to display the old value in the LOV if the validation fails. Can you please let me know if there is any way to do that?

    After thinking about this, I wondered if I had mis-read the use-case....so I added #2
    Please state your Jdeveloper version, and elaborate on your use-case:
    *1. Are you saying that the LOV contains incorrect values that the user has chosen?*
    If so you should restrict the LOV values to what is acceptable for the row (based on what other values are in the row)
    By restricting the values in the LOV the wrong value can no longer be selected, you would not need to build in functionality to revert back to previous values.
    I woud start by creating a view criteria for the view object the LOV is based on. The form values would send the binding variables to the view criteria, and that would then execute the query (invoking the view criteriea). The LOV would then contain some information on only acceptable values.
    You may be able to adapt some of the ideas presented in this video (on cascading list boxes) to make your LOV work properly. http://youtu.be/WTevRnXq04o
    This video shows some ways to manipulate view criteria: http://youtu.be/dX93fiBCxEg
    *2. Are you saying that the user has selected other fields in the form -- validation on those fields fails, and you want to revert back, but the LOV still contains the values selected?*
    In that case, you need to clear the values in the form and re-execute the view object -- and refreshing to the correct value.

    How can Filter ADF BC LOV values in ADF Faces UI?
    Hi i am bit struggle with filtering LOV values in ADF Faces UI.
    I have table In UI ,that is from ADF BC .Now i am Filtering that table data using Select one choice in same page.That SOC is named Type App:  ,So according to selection of Type in SOC table have to display.This portion is done.But my requirement is ,when i got perticular result table ,i want to add one more row related to that type only,so for that i had take popup and drag datacontrol as a form.In that form first column is Select one choice ,select Items will come from BC table.So here i want to filter those LOV values according selection in Type SOC.Suppose Type SOC contain Type1,Type2 values,then when i am selectin Type1,Type1 related date willl diplay on table,now click on ADD button popup will open and in that Type SOC will Dispaly only Type1 related values not Type 2 type values.Type1,Type2 values come from same Table.
    Here i am asking every one,please do help.

    The HR schema I used to build the example application had some modifications in the context of https://tuhra2.samplecode.oracle.com/ .
    So after running "demo/schema/mksample" as documented in "Resetting Sample Schemas" ...
    at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10831/installation.htm#I6236
    ... I got "java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00904: "EMPLOYEES"."MODIFIED_DATE": invalid identifier ", using the example application in BindVarDefaultsInUIApp-v0.02.zip .
    So, I have updated the example application to match the reset HR schema:
    - see http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/BindVarDefaultsInUIApp-v0.03.zip
    - see screencast at http://screencast.com/t/gd6zKn63j
    Because Re: af:table filter date format : task-flow navigation issue to get feedback, I created service request 3-2193340441 using My Oracle Support about (q1) and (q2).

  • How apex generate LOV values for Interactive report

    Scott,
    For interactive report, does APEX full table/index scan to generate the LOV drop down list every time user click the column header? If I set max row count to 100, does LOV values only derived from the first 100 rows that apex hits?
    If I enter SQL query in "list of value definition", will that sql get executed every time users click the column header or the result is cached?
    For standard and interactive report, does APEX parse (soft/hard) the sql statement again when user do pagination?

    Hi N.Raj,
    {thread:id=2245456}
    Yes you have to Configure BI Publisher or other.

  • Java.sql.BatchUpdateException: ORA-12899[ value too large for column.......

    Hi All,
    I am using SOA 11g(11.1.1.3). I am trying to insert data in to a table coming from a file. I have encountered the fallowing error.
    Exception occured when binding was invoked.
    Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'insert' failed due to: DBWriteInteractionSpec Execute Failed Exception.
    *insert failed. Descriptor name: [UploadStgTbl.XXXXStgTbl].*
    Caused by java.sql.BatchUpdateException: ORA-12899: value too large for column "XXXX"."XXXX_STG_TBL"."XXXXXX_XXXXX_TYPE" (actual: 20, maximum: 15)
    *The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception.*
    *Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.*
    The data type of the column errored out is VARCHAR2(25). I found related issue in metalink, java.sql.BatchUpdateException (ORA-12899) Reported When DB Adapter Reads a Row From a Table it is Polling For Added Rows [ID 1113215.1].
    But the solution seems not applicable in my case...
    Can anyone encountered same issue?? Is this a bug? If it is a bug, do we have patch for this bug??
    Please help me out...
    Thank you all...

    It didn't work.
    After I changed length of that column of the source datastore (from 15 to 16), ODI created temporary tables (C$ with I$) with larger columns (16 instead of 15) but I got the same error message.
    I'm wondering why I have to extend length of source datastore in the source model if there are no values in the source table with a length greather than 15....
    Any other idea? Thanks !

  • Matrix Bad Value exception in ItemCode column

    hello ,
    i faced an exception with filling itemcode column
    As u know this column is linked object and have CFL (choose from list)
    the problem i faced that on choosing from list i choose an item to add new line in matrix
    this event done and a new line added sucessfully
    but the problem was with CFL , that it didnt able to close , it still opened and you need to press ESC or click on cancel to close it
    when i tracking the exception i found "Bad value" exception, although the itemcode column filled but the
    also i bind all matrix columns with data sources and i can fill matix at first , but when i want to add new line i faced this problem
    best regards and thank you in advance ....
    Ammar

    Thanks Rasmus,
    But that's something I've already tried - it doesn't seem to make any difference.

  • Issue with LOV data populating to table column - Urgent

    Hi,
    I have done a create record screen.
    It contains an advanced table with few columns. One of the columns is an LOV in every row to be added.
    The user would select a value from LOV for column1 and key in values for other columns.
    However, when I click on Add (PFR gets invoked), I get an error
    'Row1 <col name> - Select a valid value'.
    Ex: LOV shows 3 records X, Y, and Z.
    I choose value X . It gets populated in table column. I enter value for fe other columns and click on Add.(which invokes PFR)
    but the moment I click on Add, I get an error, Row1 <column name> - select a valid value
    It displays same error in the tabel column also as in OAAttrValException.
    Any inputs to solve this would be great help
    Thanks,
    Kamath.

    Your statement "Looks like VO2 is not being attached to the adv table in PFR?" holds the key to your issue.
    Are you trying to attach the VO in PFR? Only a selected properties can be modified for beans in PFR. Put your code in processRequest and it should work.

  • Dynamic value binding for InputTextField - Expression within an expression

    Hi,
    I have this requirement where I have to use an EL expression's output as a bean's property in the value attribute of a InputTextField. E.g.
              <h:dataTable value="#{entity.formats}" var="field">
                   <h:column>
                        <h:outputLabel value="#{field.shortDesr}"/>
                   </h:column>
                   <h:column>
                        <h:inputText value="#{*entity."+#{field.shortDesr}+*"}"/>
                   </h:column>
              </h:dataTable>
    The JSF page will be a generic one so the fields within a form will be dynamic and will be formed at run-time. Since the exact bean property(entity in the code above) for a particular field is not known before, it needs to be dynamicaly built
    To give more clarity. In the following snippet, i know that entity is the bean to be used but which property(XXX) the text field has to be bound is not known and needs to be assigned at run-time.
    <h:inputText value="#{entity.*XXX*"/>
    Is this possible? Are there any direct JSF solution or work arounds for it? Appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks
    Ranjith

A: Dynamic value binding for InputTextField - Expression within an expression

Hi BaluSC,
Your solution is totally acceptable. But I was also looking for something that can make possible direct binding to the bean properties without going through a Map.
In the meantime, I worked around the problem by not using the DataTable. Instead I loop the collection and add the Form elements programatically (code given below). With this I am able to achieve the desired effect of binding directly to the bean's property. But I am hitting another problem now, On submit the form Seam throws up 'No active conversational context" error while binding the #{sdmManager.grid} attribute. Now, I am trying to figure out how to come across it.
JSF
     <h:panelGrid columns="2" binding="#{sdmManager.grid}">
</h:panelGrid>
Bean code
     public HtmlPanelGrid getGrid(){
     grid = new HtmlPanelGrid();
     List<UIComponent> children = grid.getChildren();
     Collection<FieldFormatData> formats = dataManager.getFieldFormatData();
     for(FieldFormatData format:formats){
          HtmlOutputLabel outputLabel = new HtmlOutputLabel();
          outputLabel.setValue(format.getShortDesr());
          children.add(outputLabel);
          HtmlInputText inputText = new HtmlInputText();
          inputText.setSize(10);
          inputText.setMaxlength(10);
          System.out.println("Binding ................................... " + format.getEntityField());
          inputText.setValueBinding("value", FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createValueBinding("#{entity."+format.getEntityField()+"}"));
          children.add(inputText);
     return grid;

  • How to create table with list/map value binding

    I need to display few values in a tabular format. Is it possible to create adf table without having value binding to a VO object. Can I make a table with some list/map combination.
    I want to change the display format with minimum change in the application. Hence I am looking for a change to define a list/map and map it with the table.
    Following is the structure I need to display in.
    |     |Header1|Header2 |
    |_______|_______|_______|
    |Txt R1 |value 1 |Value 2 |
    |_______|_______|_______|
    |Txt R2 |Value 3 |value 4 |
    |_______|_______|_______|
    All the views does not have any relation. Hence I should not create a VO and adding rows of the VO object.

    Yes, you can do it. Create a pojo with the properties(column) you want to display in the table and create a list with the instances of pojos and then you can populate your table using the list.
    Sample:
    //POJO
    public class SamplePojo {
    private String col1;
    private String col2;
    public SamplePojo(String col1, String col2){
      this.col1 = col1;
      this.col2 = col2;
    //add setter and getter methods
    //Inside bean, prepare a list with pojo instances (Assume a getter exists for pojoList)
    pojoList = new ArrayList();
    pojoList .add(new SamplePojo("Value1", "Value2");
    pojoList .add(new SamplePojo("Value3", "Value4");
    etc.
    //Inside jspx
    <af:table value="#{<Bean>.pojoList}" var="pojo" ...>
       <af:column headerText="Header1" ..>
         <af:outputText value="#{pojo.col1}"/>
       <af:column>
       <af:column headerText="Header2" ..>
         <af:outputText value="#{pojo.col2}"/>
       <af:column>
    </af:table>HTH
