LOV with images that originate from a BLOB in table

Hello,
i am using APEX ver. 4.2.1.00.08, with Oracle 11g R2. (11.2.0.3.0 + Patch 15), under Windows 7 64 bit. I have a table that stores images, that has the following desc:

LAST_UPDATE_DATE DATE
I need to build a LOV from this table, that instead of the name, it displays the image that is store in PAYLOAD field. I need this LOV to be displayed/used as a Select List in a Form.
Can this be done ?
i have tried this up to now, with no success, as the source for the LOV:

What is displayed unfortunately, is just the text in the combo box (select list).
Any idea if i can achieve this ?

Can this be done ?Not using a select list. The content model for the elements<tt>option</tt> elements that comprise the select list only allows them to contain text, not other HTML elements like <tt>img</tt>. (APEX also escapes the LOV labels which is why you see the HTML code when the item is rendered.)
Any idea if i can achieve this ?It might be feasible using a Pop-up LOV, but if you want something displayed directly in the page you'll need to find a plug-in or create some kind of custom component. For the latter useful building blocks would be a dynamic list, hidden item, dynamic action(s), and some CSS.
