Low IP profile and speeds.

Morning,
So 27 days ago we had thunder storms up here by me. The power flicked on and off 4 or so times in an hour and since then my speed and IP profile is half what it used to be. I know I have to wait for everything to re-sync, but after 27 days its still not gone back to normal. My friend just down road has a normal service now after the storm.
Tried the quiet line test and all is fine, it just seems that I sync'd back up. Any advice on what to do next would be great.

  • Profile and Speed Reductions

Hi, sorry for my first post here to be yet another one about slow Infinity speeds but I would really welcome some help and advice. I switched to Infinity from Total Broadband 3 in early November and initial tests showed my line profile for downloads was 37 Mbps with download speeds just under that figure.
After about a month the download profile and speeds dropped to around 32 Mbps which is what the online estimator forecasted when I signed-up. Over the next few weeks the figures gradually dropped further and then appeared to settle at around 26 Mbps. By the end of December the profile and speeds dropped again to between 20 – 23 Mbps and it was at this time that I decided to upgrade to Infinity 2. This was mainly to obtain the unlimited use but I did hope that it might also help return the profile and speeds to their original figures.
I was therefore surprised to find that since Infinity 2 was activated the profile is now only 17 Mbps  with download speeds of around 16 Mbps. Upload speeds have remained fairly constant throughout at between 5 - 6 Mbps
I presume there must something wrong somewhere but after trying all the recommended checks and tests I am unable to find anything. The modem is an ECI V-2FUb/I Rev.B and the homehub is an HH3 A. All speed tests have been carried out using an Ethernet wired connection. I have recycled and reset the hub but as often advised on here I have left the modem permanently on and connected.
This is the speed test result from this morning...
Can anyone maybe offer any suggestions? Many thanks.
    Keith.

    Thanks for your replies.
I was always reluctant to try recycling the modem but after reading the posts I switched it off and did as suggested. I also switched off the PC and the homehub. After twenty minutes I booted the PC back up and then powered-up the modem. Finally I powered-up the homehub and after a minute or two everything connected together correctly.
Sadly, I then ran a further speedtest and found the results to be more or less the same as this morning. Thanks for trying to help me though..... I do appreciate it.
I have now contacted the mods and will wait to hear from them.

  • Very high sync speed but very low ip profile!! Ple...

    Hello everyone.
I have been a BT customer for almost 4 yrs now, with little or no issues during my time with them. Until now!
About 2 months ago i mustve signed upto the 20mb bb, as my 8mb bb, was working great but i though why not to the extra speed. So i sign up, and i get about 17.8mb sync rate, GREAT im thinking. SLowly, i did not realise my bb kept dropping out and eventually it lowered the sync rate everytime and eventually it halted at a 4.5mb sync. I am thinking how is this possible, i had 8mb bb and it used sync at 8.1mb without fail and speeds were excellent.
So i called them logged a fault, on 21/11/2010. I explained to them what had happened, they understood, tried to do a few things their end, however nothing change, so they booked in an engineer for 22/11/2010. he came and saw everyhting was fine (i wasnt home at the time, my mum was) so did really have a chance ot explain properly, but i told him what i could over the phone whil i was at work, and advised your premises seems to be fine, must be exchange. OK . Bt followed up asking is everything resolved,i said no changes, speed it still slow. They booked another engineer for 7/12/2010.
He came, i happed to stay home this time, and i explained to him what is happening. He checked everything, ran some line tests, and notices my line can hand 16mb but it seems to have capped. he got the cap removed and it synced at 17.9mb, im thinking AWESOME. He checked the mains, even replaced the socket, because i had a old battered one, which was excellent. He advised give it few hours the ip profile should reset itself, just keep monitoring it. He also advised if your bb line kept dropping, then it would keep lowering the sync rate and this has what had happened originally. He also advise if it starts happening again, connect the router directly the mains as it was currently on the extension socket down stairs. Once he left, as adivsed i monitored and i kept seeing it was dropping off and very very frequently like every 10 minutes. So i took his advised connected the router to the mains upstairs with a filter and it has not dropped since. this was 2 days, 2hrs 31mins ago.
However my ip profile has not changed. my sync rate has increased by more than 400% and has been very stable as i have notice with NO drop out.
I have been doing research, i have read any major sync increases the ip profile should reset within a few hrs, but as you can see it hasnt in more than 48hrs. I know i should wait maybe another 24hrs but i dont think it would make a difference. I phoned BT yday and they stated this the best your line can handle, i explained to them the history of speed and the recent incident, but told me nothing can be done and this the best i can get, they wud not understand my connection syncing how it should but the profile is stopping me from enjoying it!
I was wondering is there any way i can get this sorted, so i can enjoy really fast broadband?

PLEASE PLEASE, can anyone help me in getting this sorted, i know what my line is capable and i know its faster than this.
Thank you in advance and let me know if any more information is required. THanks once again.

Similar situation here. I fitted a BT accelerator a month after the switch to ADSL2+ to get that last little bit of speed and instead it caused repeated dropouts. My IP profile got hammered and SNR set crazily high as a result.
Removed the accelerator and have a rock solid line again. That was 3 weeks ago and my profile is now at 12000 with SNR down to 12db. Hopefully will be back to where I was before the accelerator some time by the end of January.
I am using a Dlink 2460 so could force the SNR down with DMT software but am holding off at the moment as BT's profiling is so aggressive I don't want to give it any excuse to hammer my line again.

  • Another low 'IP Profile'

In a similar post to 'My IP Profile is too low' from 27 December, I am also suffering from a very low IP profile:.
I've been through several lengthy calls to the service centre (0800 111 4567) and been told at different times that the problem is with either a fault between home and exchange or that my BT Home Hub 2.0 is faulty.
I've replaced the Home Hub with a (spare) BT Business Hub BT 2700HGV from work. Sadly, no improvement.
Speed test tonight gave (yes, the numbers are correct)
Download speed achieved during the test was - 109 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250Kbps.
Additional Information: Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps
Are the forum mods the right place to go next for some help with this
    Thanks

    Hi Welcome to the forums
Until you can maintain a stable connection your ip profile will not increase can you ples try ther following
If you post the full stats from your router
For homehub – type 192.168.1.254 into your browser
Navigate to ADSL Settings or use the A-Z at the top right of the home page and scroll down to ADSL Settings and click on it
you can acces the business hubs stats the same way  and then post the full results.
also post the full results from http://speedtester.bt.com/
Have you tried connecting to the test socket at the rear of the master socket
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
also you could try the hints given by poster RogerB in this link they may help http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-in-Home/Poor-Broadband-speed/m-p/14217#M8397
Then someone here may be able to help and offer more advice.

  • Broadband connection and speed problems

    Hi,
On Wednesday morning my broadband connection went down and could not reconnect from 600am til 700pm. It did manage to get a connection to stay up at around 900pm, but since then the connection has dropped about four times a day.
I have checked my equipment, wiring etc, connected directly to the test socket, using  a new ADSL microfilter etc etc. I have also checked for known problems in my area and have done some quiet call tests(17070).
There are apparently no problems in my area, but a couple of the quiet call tests were crackly.
Since last night (Friday) at around 900pm the connection has managed to stay up but my connection speeds, both up and down are much much lower than they used to be.
Since Wednesday night I have performed some BT speedtests.
D/L Profile for my line is - 17.64 Mbps, but actual speed currently varies between around 8 and 11 Mbps.
U/L Profile for my line is - 0.83 Mbps, but speed currenty varies between 0.01 and 0.3 Mbps.
Before Wednesday, my download speeds were typically 16-17Mbps and upload speeds were typically 0.8Mbps.
    With very little variation.
I have included some stats from my BT HH3...
    Wednesday nights ADSL Line status,  after I managed to get a connection to stay up. below;

    Line attenuation (Down/Up): 11.0 dB / 5.2 dB
    Output power (Down/Up): 20.2 dBm / 12.2 dBm
    FEC Events (Down/Up): 0 / 0

    Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
    HEC Events (Down/Up): 636 / 9
    Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 117 / 4
One thing that stands out is the Noise Margin of 4.9dB and now 3.2dB. I gather that these values are on the low side. Is 3.2dB acceptable?
I assume my line attenuation values are low as I live very close to my local exchange. I assume that these values are good.
There are some CRC HEC and Error Seconds values. I must admit that I dont fully understand these but I assume these are not good.
One other thing worth mentioning is that the phone cable to my property comes along my front wall over from a neighbouring property. Whilst checking this cable this morning in the daylight, I have noticed that someone, most probably my neighbour, has pulled the cable way from its fixing on the wall in order to put a fence post up on the wall.
The fence post has been there for a few months, with no apparent affect ro my phone and broadband, but I'm concerned that this could have damaged the cable, splitting the shielding or breaking a wire in the cable, or perhaps loosened the connectors to the juntion box it is connected to on the neighbours wall.
Could damage to the cable be the cause of my connection and speed problems?
Also, is it possible that my BTHH3 is faulty?
Any advice would be very welcome.
    Thanks
    Solved!

    A little more information.
I have noticed that on a number of occasions when making or receiving voice calls, the broadband connection completely drops. It doesnt happen on all calls, and doesnt seem to happen when just going 'offhook' and listening to a dialling tone.
There is a definite crackle and hiss on most of the voice calls. But only seems to be audible on the home phone.
After a little browsing, I came upon a logging program "Routerstatshub". When I leave this running it logs changes to ADSL stats.
Looking at the logs, I've noticed that when making voice calls, the upstream noise margin always seems to drop considerably, sometimes down to 0dB.
On some calls, both upstream and downstream noise margin drop to 0dB and the broadband connection drops.
I have also noticed that upstream line attenuation increases from around 5dB to around 28dB every hour or so. This doesnt appear to coincide with the voice calls.
CRC and HEC error increase dramatically at the same time as the noise margin changes. HEC goes up by 10s of thousands.
I'm still directly connected into the mastersocket with a new microfilter and no extension cable.
By the way, my connection speeds went down to an all time low yesterday , 1.7Mbps down.
I have now replaced my DECT phone with a corded phone and will make some more voice calls to see if that makes any difference.
Any ideas about what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated.

As long as the profiles are different (ex. HID vs AD2P) you will not have any issues. But say if you try to use 2 keyboards at once, it won't work. Or 2 headsets at once. Your scenario seems fine.

  • How to push EAP-TLS configuration Profile and Certificates to Mac books and Iphones

    Hi Team,
We were able to push the EAP-TLS configuration profiles and certificates to windows devices via group policy.  However, we're now looking to see how we can accomplish this for Mac book and iphones?  Is there an open source application or something we can leverage to do this?
    Thanks

I think ammahend was looking for a rough count which is what my question was going to be. The reason I would ask this is that if the device count is low then you could manually provision certs on those devices. Not ideal since you will have to manually generate CSRs, get them signed and then installed on the machines.
Another way to do this is if you have an MDM solution in place. You can have the MDM integrate with your CA via SCEP and then on-board devices that way. You don't have to integrate ISE with MDM (advanced licenses needed) as you can only have ISE check for the cert and only perform EAP-TLS authentications.
    Hope this helps!

  • Serious Help! Handling Sound Position And Speed!

Take a look at this: https://sites.google.com/site/pardeepgames/Untitled-1.swf. It may take some time to load, sound is 42 seconds, see the second text field for time buffering.
I recommend reading the Source Code below first.
Now as you can see the pitch and speed functions are working perfectly, but the problem is that when you move the slider, the songTime text field dosen't work correctly. When you raise the pitch the songTime should just speed up the counting not change it's position, same when you lower the pitch, it should just slow down the counting not change it's position. Well that isn't working for me. The Source Code is there for you below and all the information you need is in the comments in the code. Please help me out. Oh and I recommend focusing on the songTime text field and then moving the slider.

    Hi,
I want to collected time, vibration, encoder and speed signal in one file. I am trying to develop NI by using PXI 4472B and LabView 8.6. Everything is okay but getting only one rpm for speed data. I want to collect continuous data for 15 sec (constant speed) and 15 sec (ramp up speed).
q1. Would you please look into the VI and provide me some suggestions to get continuous speed and all data?
q2. What is the best way (programming etc.) to collect constant speed (100 rpm) and ramp up speed (50-1000rpm) data in two files automatically from one test? Any help?!
    New Labview user.

    Hi Chris,
Thank you for your warm response. Here is the status:
    1. I already tried to use 'Analog Tacho processing' sub-pallette. See the attachment, but the RPM value is not the same/similar with the actual known RPM. However, 'Timing trans..' sub-pallette shows similar speed in terms of frequency to actual known RPM. Do frequency and speed profile value in NI should not be the same/very close? Encoder disk is of 60 pulse/rev and using laser TTL to get the pulses, signal input is into 4472B. Does it neet to extra processing to count the edges of rising?
    2. I prefer ASCII or TEXT. Experiment is for one ramp-up (50-1000rpm) and one steady (100 rpm) for 15 sec each. I will use this data in Matlab. I am looking for help in programming so that single experiment will divide into two separate files of ramp-up and steady speed. File will consists of time, vibration, encoder value (0,1...) and speed.
    Kind regards, Niaz

  • Stuck profile and pretty sick of liars

Ok, after a powercut on Monday (which was widespread in Co Down), my profile is back on the same, pathetic. "up to 2000kps" profile that it ALWAYS goes on if there is even a hint of thunder or a blip in the electric..
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1842 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :4224 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
I have been on this forum innumerable times with exactly the same problem...as I am very busy and have a digger hired out, I decided to phone the "special" no that India gave me if such a stuck profile happened again (LOL)...
After spending 15mins on the phone to some advisor in India (neither of us could understand each other as I have an Irish accent) trying to explain what a stuck profile was, the advisor was able to see I have had this problem many times before (OH really...duh!!)..
He lied and said they were doing "advanced" tests on my line and they could see no problem...LIAR!!!
Then He said they had reset the profile and it will take 7 days and I will Never have this problem again...LIAR!!
I understand broad band and DLM and it is far too aggressive and is obvously not fit for purpose...I pay for up to 8meg,,,not up to 2meg...
I am really sick of the incompetent LIARS who run their "customer" service...anyone who has been around a while will know that the only way I've got this fixed in the past is to contact the CEO...This time, however, I have had enough and think I'm out of contract,,,I will be requesting my mac code and will be leaving this Internet  Provider
ASAP and will make sure to tell everyone I know about this!!!!!!

I have a long rural line as well and while I can't solve all your issues I can suggest a few things perhaps
firstly the power issue, have you looked to setting your router on a UPS? most use kettle sockets so you would need to make an adapter but Belkin do some that have normal sockets. Would not last long but does filter and smooth out issues with the power and if you just have the router on it even a fairlly small model would give you a fair while, mine certainly last way longer than I takes me to fire up the backup generator.
Fixed profiles may well be a solution for you but should the line be upgraded at any stage you may then loose out.
You might also see if BT will check that you are on the best pair possible, for example where I am there are no spare pairs but further back nearer the exchange there is a 50 pair 0.9 cable about 1km in length and onlly about 10 lines were switched to it as of yet (mine included) and that made a huge difference to my service when I got it done in 2006 after a nearer section had been downgraded during a replacement.
I am told that if you can get any section swapped from /5 to .6 then that is even better than the same length of .6 being changed to .9 but either way any up in conductor size tends to be a huge help.
BTW would strongly suggest you try using a BT business hub not the netgear, I have tried many routers including the netgear but the business hub seems to have something extra that helps my line a lot, I now tend to get a steady noise margin during the day rather than frequent fluctuations, I suspect it is impluse noise protection but may be wrong there. Worth getting one of ebay to try.

  • Sort Profile and field LAGP-SORLP

    Dear fellow warehousers,
In our storage bins we use the field REIHF for sorting our picks. After assigning it to a profile and assigning this profile to our movement this works very well.
The sort field for putaway -LAGP-SORLP- however- I am not allowed to assign to a sort profile: it cannot be selected from the pull down list <F4>
Populating the field I can do in various ways, manual, CATT, using the Cross-line placement config, but I want to be able to sort it in a different direction.
Does anyone have experience with this challenge?
    Thanks,
    Nick

But due to a large number of unavailabe seconds and uncorrected errors, you connection speed has been reduced.
I do not recognise which home hub you are using. If you look at this page ADSL stats, you will see what I mean.
Its not possible to see how long your router has been running since you last reset it.
Also can you do a BT Speedtester
and put the full results here (not the beta tester)

  • Distant AFP and speed maximum

    Hi,
I've enabled the file sharing to let a friend of mine (mac user too) to access my public folder, which i had have changed with sharepoints.
My mac is connected to internet through a modem/router, so i did some port forwarding on both 548 & 427 ports to my macs ip (i think this is the right way to achieve the connection, but if someone believe that i shouldn't, please to comment that).
I'd like to ask (*this is the main question*), what is the maximum speed can be achieved between the two macs (mine and my friend's). What parameters affect that connection (distance, isp's network speed)?
My broadband speed is 12Mbps (theoritically 12 - i get 4-8 usually- Mbps) and my friends 2Mbps. For a 5Mb file it takes about 2min to transfer, that means we have a speed about 384Kbps. Is that normal? How can we increase that speed?
    Thanx in advance

You may have a 12mpbs (theoretical) broadband link, but that's the downlink speed. Almost all broadband links have significantly slower uplink speeds. It's not uncommon for the uplink to be 1/10th of the downlink speed, mostly on the basis that you would normally send far less traffic up your link than you would download.
If your friend is copying data to his machine from you, then the maximum throughput will be the smaller of his downlink (2mbps) and your uplink.
Conversely, if he's uploading to your machine then the maximum throughput will be the lower of your downlink speed and his uplink speed.
384kbps is a very common uplink speed for DSL lines, so that seems likely.
The only way to increase it is to get a faster line, with faster uplink speeds.

  • Connections wi-fi and speeds SOS different day!

How many other comcast subscribers have their own modems, like the Motorola brand that they encourage you to buy at Best Buy from a Comcast Rep. that works there??  Well, I was told to save paying a modem fee a couple years ago and bought my own that a Rep from Comcast highly suggested. Ever since I have owned it, comcast has been manipulating all sorts of things on it according to Motorola. I once called comcast because my connection service was bad and speeds were bad etc. The tech came out, and in approx. 60 seconds said your modem needs to be replaced, it's not working. He said I have one out on the truck. I said will I have to pay a monthly fee, he said YES!! But of Course!! I knew it was coming because it wasn't the first time they said it was my Modem. So I callled Motorola and expalained the problem. They said they would trouble shoot for $40.00 and would only take about 20 minutes. I agreed and they said the defaults were changed, etc. and nothing was wrong with Modem. They went on and fixed the changed issues and modem worked great! Twice I paid that fee because Comcast said it was a bad modem. They constantly change my wi-fi connection to xfinity when it supposed to connect to MY OWN ENCRYPTED device name!! My pc sits and I see the little spinning ball because there is no connection and Ihave to keep going into wi-fi setting EVERY DAY and reset back to my default setting. Speeds continue to vary greatly and it's very frustrating. Even the speed on my tv with the new box at times it takes the graphics longer to load, just like a slow computer speed when pictures load very slow. Some times they are lighting fast!!Anyone else ever send back equipment to comcast??? Well I did, and got an email saying we will advise you when we get your back. Even though I have proof through UPS they kept saying we will let you know within 2 weeks. Well it's been 2 months and no confirmation that anytihng was received!! Are they holding this over my head so that as soon as I dump comcast they will charge me for that equipment???? Your bills still inching up by a couple dollars every month??? Yup, as always. One day comcast will get what they deserve. Yes I am making arramgements to get rid of this once and for all but not before I take many more with me who have the same issues. Time to just stream from ROKU, or other good programs they have out there, and there are plenty of free streaming for us seniors with low income and terrible illnesses that all we can do is watch tv most of the day. Comcast, also said I would get a free voice remote with my new X1 box. Ask me if I got it??? NOPE!!

You're going to be troubleshooting this and probably eventually discussing this with Verizon.
In the typical small dynamic-IP network setup, the WiFi router gets its address from Verizon via DHCP, and the WiFi router then issues "private" addresses to your clients via its own DHCP server.
Restarting the WiFi router can cause address collisions, as the cheaper WiFi routers don't probe for existing clients and just start handing out addresses and this quite possibly leads to address collisions.   The smarter WiFi routers will probe the network and determine if an IP address is already in use, and will then avoid passing it out again.
if your WiFi router supports it, I'd look to move to 5 GHz — from what I can tell from what few specs available, it doesn't appear to support 5 GHz — as the 2.4 GHz band tends to be heavily used in apartment buildings and built-up areas, and with excessive interference resulting.  (Though your attempts to use a hard-wired connection imply a problem with the WiFi router or with the DSL.)

  • Will the blue tooth hr monitor and speed and cadence sensor work together

will the blue tooth hr monitor and speed and cadence sensor work together

This solved my question by xtremecarbon  on Jul 18, 2012 6:58 PM
As long as the profiles are different (ex. HID vs AD2P) you will not have any issues. But say if you try to use 2 keyboards at once, it won't work. Or 2 headsets at once. Your scenario seems fine.

  • Problem with Cisco IPMA - between the manager profile and assistant profile

    Greetings to all.
The problem basically is that wen I do a call (internal o external) to the extension configured in the manager phone, the assistant phone dosen`t rings or take the call, even the call in progress dosen`t appears in the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Assistant Console of the Assistant
Also the icons of the IPMA in the manager phone dosen`t appears.
    I have check the following:
1.The configurations on both profile and its look ok
2.I have restar the Cisco IPMA, CTI and Tomcat Service
    3.I have reconfigured the profiles
    What else I can do
What is the most common cause in these cases
    Thanks

I have the same problem, did you resolve it ?
Our Customer have about 50 IPMA and there are work. The problem is only with 4 IPMA Assistance (always the same). Sometimes (few times in week) lost  Assistance  icon Managers, and Managers doesn’t see shared lines, Intercom, services IPMA on phone doesn’t work. But sometimes Assistant icon is showing but Manager don’t see active connection and can’t call via Intercom.
Assistance have 7962 Phone with load cmterm-7942_7962-sccp.9-2-3.cop.sgn
Managers have 7965 Phone with load cmterm-7945_7965-sccp.9-2-3.cop.sgn
    CUCM (PUB/SUB) is 8.6.2.20000-2
I opened a TAC case already but the problem is not resolved.
