Lr3 Pricing - What A Difference a Version Makes

As I recall, one of the longest and possibly bitter threads on this forum was sparked by the pricing differentials of Lr2 upgrade in countries around the world - compared that is to what Adobe charged within the U.S. To date, I have seen not a flicker of such indignation following the arrival of Lr3; and hooray for that.
And why? Well for starters, there is little to grouse about as far as this UK resident is concerned. The download price in the U.S. of $99.00 currently equates to just some £6 less than that charged by Adobe UK. So why has peace broken out. Could it all be down to the sliding exchange rate? Or something more interesting?
Surely Adobe could not have taken heed of such criticism last time? Surely not?

In the past I have been a vocal critic of Adobe "ripping off foreigners" with excuses like "localisation" costs when they can't even be bothered to spell colour correctly
However, I was pleased to see that this is no longer the case and so I will say a big thank you to Adobe for recognising the bad press it was getting them and putting the situation right.

  • What a difference a lens makes

Just got a Nikon - AF 85/1.4D IF for my D300. First pro lens and just so the post is relevant here, it looks better in LR than photos taken with previous lenses. Also, they print from LR just the way they look!

Nice pics Claude. Just curious what sharpening or clarity settings you used? Looks very sharp.
I like the photo of the Concord Pacific condo tower, the colors and smoothness of the sky are beautiful.

  • What a difference this DDR makes

From 333mhz to 400mhz.....an improvement in performance and in the ability to install programs without the stuff being flung all over the disk
I've always had problems installing Links 2003(The golf Sim)
    Lengthy Defrags have followed.
    Installed yesterday....and wow!!!!!
    Perfect!!!!
Defrag with this new system setup is perfect, and so far I have seen none of the illusive bottlenecks.
The big test is tonight, downloading XP SP-2.
If that succeeds, then we are 'cookin with gas'....to quote my late father.
    You guys have been invaluable.
    Thanks alot

    Graphics intensive...hmmmmmm
Links 2003 has pretty good graphics but as I can tweek the draw rate to have more or less detail, at present I am ok.
Faster frame rates are achieved by having the golfer in Panoramic Display('camera' above golfer), while faster redraws trade off detail.
With my Golfer display in Close Up(camera low down and behind golfer) frame rate become's slower.
The game tested my system and set the redraw rate for maximum detail, slower speed.....theoretically; in reality the combo of the better memory and chip produces a fast rendering, but with really good detail.
Should I experience that problem, I shall indeed rectifiy it.
Till then, I am 'making hay while the sun shines'
At least the post vis Latency Speed was both timely and worth its weight in gold
    Once again JER, thanks heaps

  • Whats the difference between these versions of photoshop?

First of all to make things clear I want to mention this first that I lives in Pakistan and Adobe doesn't support my region so in order to buy the Adobe Photoshop CC I have to contact the authorized resellers, after contacting them and asking for a invoice proposal for Adobe Photoshop CC, they send me several invoice proposals (per user team liscense). But I just got in a trouble as these proposals are offering Photoshop CC different versions so its like kinda making me double mind, i am just confused which to buy as prices are differ too and kinda noticeable. As for making my intentions clear I also wanna mention that I am looking for Single App Liscense i mean i just wanna buy Photoshop CC thats it. But for sure its not gonna be that photography version nor student one. Also i wanna know that whats the difference between these two versions and also tell me the pros and cons.
So please help me choose which one is better for me as I am really confused with it.

    I've attached screenshots too

The features in both of the Photoshop CC are identical, there is a difference in price because, the higher priced is the original Photoshop price, the less priced is the promotional priced Photoshop CC eligible only if you have CS3 or later version of Adobe creative suite product.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • What are the differences between version 9 and X of the Reader?

I have been running various releases of Version 9 of the Adobe Reader for a long time. I have noticed that when there is an update available for Version 9 and I click on the "more information" button on the update, it takes me to a web page where there is information on the latest levels of both Version 9 and Version X, but I cannot find any information on what the differences are between version 9 and X. I read the FAQ and found nothing on this, and I even searched this forum and was surprised that there were no topics on this question already.
Can someone tell me the differences between the 2 versions. I am running Windows 7; is that important as to which version of Reader I should use?

Both Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Reader X work on Windows 7 .
    Hope this helps.

  • Why do I have to convert t2i files to pro res in fcp x? What difference does it make ?

    Hey Guys,
Just wondering why do I have to convert canon t2i files to prores in fcp x? What difference does it make ? I'm able to edit in fcpx the files that have just been imported diectly in. Does it cause any problems in export?
    Thanks so much,
    Jamie

I am not familiar with Canon files.
I assume that they are like AVCHD which are really designed only as a delivery format and not for editing.
Though they can be edited it is concidered better to convert them to ProRes 422 for editing.
Though nothing terrible will probably happen if you don't convert them, you are likely to get improved results and faster rendering of complex effects with the converted media.
The best thing is to do 2 very short (sub - 5 minute) identical test projects adding lots of effects etc. with both methods and then you will be able to determine which technique suits you.

  • What is the difference between version 4.7EE and ECC 5.0

    DEAR EXPERTS
what is the difference between version 4.7EE and ECC 5.0?WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONALTIES IN
    ECC 5.0?

    hi,
Diff between 4.7 and ECC 5.0:
    1. 4.7 is on R/3 platform, while ECC 5.0 is on mySAP ERP 2004
    2. ECC 5.0 is having ESA(enterprise Serviceoriented Architecture)
3.ECC 5.0 is web enabled with Netweaver technology.
mySAP ERP is the "newer" ERP with numbering conventions like ECC (which stands for ERP Central Component) 5 or 6
mySAP (aka mySAP.com) Business Suite contains Solutions like CRM, SCM etc. The important thing to note here is that this contains mySAP ERP, the one above
mySAP All-in-One Solution is designed for smaller companies (the ad that says SAP is not just for large companies but for great companies where the above mentioned functionality is scaled down and is made to run on one database on a PC type of setup as opposed to the full blown architectures on which SAP traditionally set to run

  • From ABAP view, what is the difference between version 4.7 and ECC 6.0 ?

    Hi,
I am a ABAP developer. I want to know the difference between version 4.7 and ECC 6.0 from a programmer
    perspective.
I also want to know  what is obsoleted and what is enhanced.
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Chris Gu

I'm not sure if any of this is in your 4.7 version, but I know it wasn't available in our 4.6C before we upgraded and we have found the following extremely helpful in ECC 6.0:
    1.  The new ABAP Debugger - Search SDN and you'll probably find a bunch of info on these enhancements
    2.  The Enhancement Framework - this is a great new framework allowing enhancements to standard SAP programs without having to use "core Mods".  Had we known about it prior to our upgrade, we could have probably eliminated 75% or so of our custom Z Programs which are copies of standard SAP code  and 100% of our core mods (of which we only have a handful)
    3. Code Inspector and more importantly the ability to turn it on to automatically run when releasing a transport.
    4. The ABAP workbench has changed a bit with a new editor including some minimal code completion.
    5.  Automatic generation of services from any remote enabled function module.
These are just a few of the things that I've found helpful in an upgraded environment.

For Functionality Differences pls refer to the below site -
    http://solutionbrowser.erp.sap.fmpmedia.com/
One major difference is that 4.6 runs on what they call the basis layer, in 4.7 the basis layer was majorly modified to include new web technologies, hence the renaming of Basis to Web Application Server. 4.7 runs on the Web Application Server 6.20. With this, was the introduction to BSPs or Business Server Pages.
Also have a look at the link:
    http://www.thespot4sap.com/Articles/SAP_Enterprise_4point7.pdf
Here is a quick short list though:- Statements for character processing have additions IN BYTE MODE and IN CHARACTER MODE, this affects statements like DESCRIBE LENGTH, OPEN DATASET
Header lines should not longer be used for tables (in OO context this is not even possible)
TABLES statement in reports should no longer be used
PNPCE for concurrent employement (new logical DB for HR)
For OO abap there a plenty of short forms for method calls that were not previously available.
One very cool feature is that data reference's can have actual data types and van be referenced directly without field symbols.
Additions to many abap statements, for example there is now a ALL OCCURENCES addition to the replace statement.
Class based exceptions are now available (although it is debatable how usefull these are seeing as there is no FINALLY part to the try catch statement, very disappointing but maybe that is just me).
Friends have been introduced for OO abap.
Dynamic program has plenty of improvements, for example there is now a TYPE TABLE OF variant for create data which lets you dynamically create an internal table with a structure type, your can also now call a class constructor with different importing parameters dynamically.
    Regards
    Kiran

why apple dont make siri on ipod touch 4 and iphone 4??? whats the difference??

  • What's the difference where you make your slideshows?

Does anyone know if there is a difference if you make your slideshow in iPhoto (then export to iDVD) or if, while you're in iDVD, you make your slideshow there.? Also, rumour has it you can make slideshows in iMovie...hmmm...anyone know the differences??
p.s. is there still a limit of 99 photos per slideshow album using iPhoto or iDVD?
    Thanks!

    iPhoto > iDVD6
Exporting iPhoto slideshow to iDVD (from the Help Menu):
You can transfer an iPhoto slideshow or album, including its background music and transition effects, directly from iPhoto to iDVD to create a DVD slideshow.
To export a slideshow to iDVD:
Select a slideshow or album you want to export.
Chose Share > Send to iDVD.
Your slideshow opens in iDVD with the same name as its iPhoto name.
In iPhoto before playing a slideshow, you can specify the display duration for each slide, choose transition effects, add background music, and more.
    Using slideshows created in iPhoto
You can easily create slideshows in iDVD by dragging images or albums from your iPhoto library into your iDVD project.
You can also use a slideshow created in iPhoto in your iDVD project. The slideshow is imported into iDVD as a movie, and you can't edit or change it using the iDVD slideshow features.
Using iDVD6 to create a slideshow
As an iDVD slideshow (within iDVD6)
You can use the slideshow editor to create a slideshow using your iPhoto albums or images stored in other places on your computer.
Your DVD can have up to 9,801 images in one or more slideshows, depending on the amount of other content on the DVD.
Using iMovie for a series of still images > iDVD6
You can also use iMovie to build a series of images like this:
Adding photos from your iPhoto library
You can easily add photographs from your iPhoto library to use in a movie or to create a slideshow of favorite photographs.
To add a photo from your iPhoto library:
Click the Media button, and then click Photos at the top of the Media pane.
Choose your iPhoto library or any item within your library.
Tip: You can also search for a photo by typing text in the search field. As you type, photos that contain the text you entered appear in the Photos pane. To see all photos again, click the Reset button (an "x" in the search field).
Select the photo you want to add to your movie.
In the Photo Settings window, drag the duration control to change the display duration for your photo.
If you want to pan across your photo, or zoom in or out on it, you can apply the Ken Burns Effect to it. To learn how, see "Adding motion to a photo".
To add the photo to your movie, drag it from the Images pane to the clip viewer or timeline viewer.
You can also add multiple photos to your movie at the same time by selecting more than one photo. This is useful when building a slideshow of your photos. To learn how to select multiple photos, see "Selecting clips".
After you add a photo to your movie, you can change its display duration, crop it, and add motion to it at any time.

is there still a limit of 99 photos per slideshow album using iPhoto or iDVD?
    To quote Len Goff:
These days it's the limitation of players, since Apple removed that DVD Forum spec.
I don't know about you, but I want a way to access a slideshow "topic," rather than wading through 1000 images to see one at 342.
Is there a way to add more than 99 photos to a chapter
If you have Toast, use Motion Pictures HD, or build in iMovie, or build in iPhoto and export as QuickTime file.

I wrote an install program (.exe) that is downloaded from a website.  When run, it 1) leads a customer to browse to a directory, and 2) copies files (.exe, .dll, etc.) from a website to that directory.  When I run, the installed program works.

    Hello,
The default feature does support the task for your requirement, so there is no need to pay for the other features unless you want to use some feature which is not free.
    In addition, as this thread
