LR5 installation and first use

i have bought LR5 and have installed it on my PC. the icon shows up but when i click on it, it asks me if i want to download the free trial version. i can not seem to be able to access the complete version i purchased. can someone help me?

Usually, if you are having serial number issues, it is going to be something you need to contact your vendor for. Start by contacting the store/site where you purchased the software from and see if they can assist you. If they can't, you will probably have to contact Adobe for help. This will walk you through the process with Adobe--Find your serial number quickly. One other thing, some of Adobe's boxed software comes with an unlock code rather than a serial number. You have to create an Adobe logon and then exchange the unlock code for a serial number. I ran into this when I purchased Elements. The process was further complicated when, as it turned out, the store had sold my particular copy to another customer who later returned it. The store could only unlock it once so I had to return mine for a second copy that the store had not already informed Adobe about the sale. Try the link and see if it helps. If not, you may have to contact the store regarding serial numbers/unlock codes (though my copy of Lightroom 5 did came with a serial number but i purchased my disk through Adobe so I can't be certain how retail copies are handled.

Order of installation and reboots using smpatch/updatemanager

Using updatemanager it tells me it has installed a certain set of patches and that others require a reboot and will be installed then - fine. I can then download and install further patches as long as any dependencies are met.
But if I download the patches using smpatch I get an information file telling me the order in which patches should be installed and where reboots are needed. Here's an example:

This patch bundle was generated by PatchPro.
Please refer to the README file within each patch for installation
instructions. To properly patch your system, the following patches
should be installed in the listed order:
1) 120887-06

Now my reading of the above is that I should install 1) then 2) do a reboot, install 3) and do a reboot then install 4) - as that is the listed order. And if I don't do this then I have installed the patches properly
But running smpatch update it installs 1) and 4) straight away and reports that 2) and 3) will be installed at next reboot:
Installing patches from /var/sadm/spool...
120887-06 has been applied.
NOTICE: Patch 118557-05 cannot be installed until the next system shutdown.
NOTICE: Patch 122027-04 cannot be installed until the next system shutdown.
122856-02 has been applied.
And at next reboot there is only a single reboot and both patches are applied.
So what's with the instructions in the patchpro* file? Are these just overly conservative guidelines or what?

If patch 4 is not dependant on either patch 2 or 3 then there's no problem installing it before either 2 or 3.
However sometimes I have seen an error:
ALERT: Failed to install the patch {0} xxxxxx-xx
which I believe means that the patch has a dependency on another patch which can't be installed because it needs an immediate reboot.
After doing the reboot you might find that you can go back and run in these extra patches which caused the error the first time around.
Just my interpretation for what it's worth.

After installation and first time boot, the F2 key won't work

It's all in the title, I just installed sol10u2 on my PC (mb: ASUS P5GV-MX, proc: Pentium IV 3GHz, keyb: ps2 some Windows compatible).
While installing it went OK, all keyboard buttons working, LCD 1280x1024 working, everything fine. After copying the files to HDD, I had to take out the DVD and reboot. That's OK.
After the system got through the POSTm checked the configs or something, the text screen appeared asking whether I want to use Xorg or Xsun server for my X. The problem is that when I press the F2 (continue) the screen is not repainted and it stays the same as before (every second line is shown, and every second line is blank - black), and none of the function or non function buttons work either. I can hear a beep as an error for pressing any key.
It would be nice to know how exactly should I have had to install Solaris to make it work. I mean I tried 2 times already, with the same results.

All you have to do in order to remedy this greyed out menu situation is to download the iWeb 1.1.1 update image directly from Apple here...

Install this right over your current iWeb installation. I think you will find that your situation has improved.

How do you completely disable the installation and use of add-ons for firefox 4? Is there a config setting/file that can be changed to completely disable add-ons?

I want to completley disable the installation and/or use of add-ons in Firefox 4. I don't want anybody that logs onto either of my computers to be able to use add-ons and I can't find a way to disable it in the configuration files. I've found ways to lock down other options like updates etc. but I cannot find a way to completely disable add-ons.

Surely I am able to connect to the help function when Icontact the website
of AdobeLR5.The problem is as follows,
When I open LR5 on my computer and work with it and try to open the help
function in the software, I don't get it.
When I bought the CD I was naiv enough to believe that I get an independent
working software. I learned in the meantime, that the seller does not allow
to work with, without being connected to them.
I don't believe that I am paranoid, but I like to buy something and use it
without to inform the supplier that I do it. Otherwise I could have bought
the license fpr LR5 via internet.

First of all, uninstall it with the uninstaller.
Then:
Install the ENGLISH version.
Change the language in the CC app to Korean.
Install the Korean version. (DON't uninstall the English version)
Change back the langauge in the CC app to English.
When your OS is running in English, InDesign will run in English with Korean functionality added, if your OS is running in Korean it will take the Korean User Interface, so let your OS run in English.
Every installer language will add needed plugins for the work with that language. E.g. If I install Hebrew, I get RTL functionality in German version, only if I would change the OS language it would change the language of InDesign, InDesign takes always as UI language the language of the OS if available, if not (in your case you have uninstalled English before), it takes any version which is available in the order of languages specified in the OS.
If you need to run your program in a different language than the OS but you have installed it in the language of the OS it becomes more difficult. You would have to use some system tools which are able to force a program to open with a different language. Most of those tools are freeware.

Installation of Elements 12 download hangs up at "setting up first use"

I bought a download copy of Photoshop elements 12 to load on my cloud server. Installation went smoothly until the very end when it hung up at "setting up for first use" and would not go forward. When I finally cancelld the dialog box, I received the message "Adobe Application Manager, required to strat your trial, is missing or damaged". This is not a trial and I enetered the proper serial number given to me. What do I have top do to ake it work? Adobe site is no help and customer service is a joke.

Can we use CS6 under a CC license? We have about 25 CS6 installations and need more CS6-licenses. Our other software is not (yet) compatible with CC.

We need more CS6 installations at our company. However, it's not possible to buy CS6, only CC. The software we are using in combination with CS6 is still not compatible with CC. Probably should've searched around a bit more. Just saw a similar forum post to my own in which redownloading and burning solved another user's similar issue. As of now I've redownloaded the 64-bit ISO, burned it, and so far so good (at 72% extracting files). I will repost here if it was a success in hopes that other users with a similar issue find this and benefit from it. Hope I didn't just waste anyone's time with a question that had already been answered (haha)

Gary116 please remove and reinstall Lightroom by following the steps listed in CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed. The version of Photoshop Lightroom available through the Creative Cloud Desktop application supports your Creative Cloud Membership.

Yes, there is no need to keep previous versions of software on the SSD (or on your computer).
Also, you didn't mention this but if the photos are on the SSD, you should move them off the SSD to a regular hard disk using these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

GoLive wirste wohl gar nicht zum laufen kriegen. ohnehin würde man es nicht mehr verwenden, weil es noch nicht mal CSS2 voll unterstützt geschweige denn HTML 5 und andere moderne Webstandards. Wenn überhaupt, dann findeste vielleicht noch 'ne OEM CD von Strato oder 1und1 bei eBay. Die haben das damals mit jedem neuen Hostingvertrag rausgehauen. Aber wie gesagt, es ist den Aufwand nicht wert. Illustrator sollte sich durchaus installieren lassen. Eventuell einfach nochmal die Installer im Win XP Kompatibilitätsmodus laufen lassen...

Stick the disk in, reboot holding c.
Disk Utility is a menu option about the 2 or 3rd screen in the installer. (don't install OS X!)
Because your booted form the installer disk, you can repair the disk.
Quit and exit the installer and reboot.
If your drive is not repaired, make a note of all what it says, for Apple to use.
Reboot and get your files off to a external drive,
Take the note and your comptuer to Apple for a warranty/Apple care call, they will replace the drive.
