LSNRCTL command not found - Ubuntu Linux 9.10

Good day, everyone! So, I've been searching all over the place to find an answer for this, but have not been successful. Hopefully I can get this resolved.
So I have the Oracle 10g XE database installed on my Ubuntu 9.10 Linux server, and it works perfectly fine. However, when trying to tie the data source to my website via Visual Web Developer, it states that the listener is not running. After reading some documentation, I go to run a terminal session and log into the oracle user on my Linux box and try running "LSNRCTL start", but I get a "command not found" error. I've tried multiple things: using root to run it, going to the actual oracle xe installation folder to run it, nothing. Anyone got any thoughts on how I can fix this? Thanks!

Hi,
I have the same issue:- lsnrctl command not found,
And when I echo oracle host & path I got:-
[oracle@ddcdevws02 etc]$ echo $ORACLE_HOST
[oracle@ddcdevws02 etc]$ echo $PATH
/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/u02/oracle/bin
Now I know that my environment is not set, but could please tell me how I can set the environmernt ??? I mean commands or detailed instruction step as to what needs to be set where & how, I mean the SID, port, Path ???, I am new to Linux as well as database .
Also In the host file under /etc/ directory I have these settings
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
10.201.60.21 ddcdevws02.hddev.healthdialog.com ddcdevws02
I don't know if this is correct or not ? But I doubt make any change in the host file, please suggest me.
Thanks
Sam

  • Lsnrctl: command not found while restoring the cold clone 11i 11gr2 instan

    Dear Experts,
    We have noted few errors while doing the Clonning of our production instance.
    1. We have upgraded our production instance database from 9i to 11gr2 using the latest interoperablity note id.
    2. When trying to restore the instance we are getting the below error. We have noted that our database is up and running but when i manually tried to restore the instance we are gettting the below error.
    bash: lsnrctl: command not found
    Please note that when ever we are clonning the instance from source to target we have noted that lsnrctl command is missing from the oracle_home/bin folder ?
    Is that a bug in 11gr2 with 11i instance.?
    3. Please find the attach log files of the clone and advise ASAP.
    Regards
    Mohammed.

  • Command not found on running binary files.

    I have a very strange problem with my new arch installation, which I never faced on other linux installations/distros.
    I'm trying to execute binary files from android-sdk, which I have them from other distros and always worked, and I get always "command not found" message. For e.g I tried to run adb(5 different files from different places), from terminal and from the folder in which is each and all times I get "command not found" message.
    Some other work though, as eclipse binary. All files I've tried worked fine, and also work fine if I run them from Ubuntu installation.
    I had this problem and for some newly isntalled packages too, as packagkit, and rutorrent. Packagekit worked after a reboot, but rutorrent gives same message.
    Any help?

  • [SOLVED] Unable to build packages from AUR (build: command not found)

    I recently hosed the filesystem on my arch install of ~8 months. I reinstalled arch today and didn't have many problems since I had backups of many important config files. Anyways, I still need to get a few programs installed from AUR, but nothing I get from AUR will build.
    I download the tarball, extract into a folder in /home/myuser/builds and then go into that folder and run makepkg -s (as always)
    It checks the files and extracts/downloads them. Then I get the following error message:
    ==> Starting build()...
    /usr/bin/makepkg: line 741: build: command not found
    ==> ERROR: Build Failed.
    Aborting...
    I've run abs and I checked out the abs wiki page, I've also installed base-devel. I am not sure what else I need to do, the error message is not specific enough.
    The packages I have been trying to install are      ttf-ms-fonts 2.0-7,      keepass 2.14-2, and I also tried ttf-vista-fonts 1-3. I am fairly certain that it is not a problem with the PKGBUILD files.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    cyrus wrote:Have you tried Yaourt?
    Nope, haven't tried that, I think mainly because I wanted to learn how to use pacman and how to build using ABS. At this point I think I know how to use pacman/abs, as much as this thread might make it appear that I dont
    I'll give it a try, as I frequently install software from AUR. In the past I think I let software from the AUR get outdated, Yaourt (clumsy name) sounds like it would help that a bit. Thanks!
    Edit: BTW, I really love Arch. I tried it out on a flash drive about 8 months ago (maybe more), and after about 12 hours I was sold and installed it on the drive that Windows XP previously held. Even considering that I had many problems during the initial install, but they were all problems that caused me to learn and were easy to resolve. Seriously, I have lots of Windows tech experience, but only Arch forced me to learn Linux. I had tried Ubuntu previously but it was such a bore, and the problems tended to be hard to find solutions for. I try to convince my other Linux using friends to try arch, but they see it as too hands-on. I don't see it that way, it is very hands off after initial configuration, and the initial config only takes a week or less on the first try and a day and a half (or so) if you re-install. Having backups of your config files is of course a huge deal, and I am glad I had most of those.
    Really, I love Arch Linux, it has taught me so much.

  • Mac 10.9.1 port: command not found

    Howdy,
    I'm fairly new to Mac, at least it hs been years since I used my G3 tower.  I am a school teacher, teaching Web Tech to high school students.  I've got a Linux Server(Ubuntu 10.10) and have set-up Apache2 and vsftpd for them to work on. It is a local(inside the school's firewall) only set-up. I've been teaching students how to build web pages and ftp on to their chrooted folder inside Apache2 tp push their work. The school purchased a Mac mini-tower(Maverick - 10.9.1) for meto work with and configure for the next year's classes. I'm very used to command line and I am trying to download "vsftpd" to install so I can get a chrooted environment. I tried:
         sudo port install vsftpd
    and got port: command not found.     I even did, man port...and got.... No manual entry for port
    I am simply looking to install vsftpd to config for chrooting reasons.
    Also, I'm still working on the complete command line of useradd for the following.  I'd like to only give them "ftp" access to  (local IPaddress -> 10.127.X.X/username) with no shell access(I made a link to /sbin/ftplogin which I assume does nothing) with NO naviagtion abilities within ftp besides their own folder.
    Thanks!!!

    Thank you. I'm so used to apt-get or Synaptic, I don't know how to install anything from a Mac command line.  I searched the Internet for MacPorts and found it and followed the basic installation. All is good. Thanks again !!!

    Hi All,
    I'm facing problem during connecting to SQLPLUS in Linux Plateform Redhat 4.....whenever I write SQLPLUS, it gives me the following Error message
    Bash: Sqlplus: Command not found.
    kindly let me know, how can I get rid of this Error. Thanks
    Regards,
    Imran

    Your environmentals are not setup.
    From the command prompt source oraenv
    ~> . oraenv
    or (depending on your os )
    ~> source oraenv
    Respond to the prompt with the name of your database exactly (uppercase/lowercase) as it is in the oratab file (/etc/oratab ?)
    This will set your ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, and PATH variables correctly for your database.
    Try sqlplus again and see if that does not work for you.

    The pkgtools package will do this for you.

  • (OEL 4.7) -bash: sqlplus: command not found after install of 10g R2

    Hi all
    I'm new to Linux and I would like your help and directions on a few things:
    After 2 days of battle with RPM's (i386 vs x86_64) i was finally able to install 10g R2 on OEL 4.7 x86_64 system without any errors.
    please check if all these settings are correct and help me how to start sqlplus? or create a database with dbca
    I followed all the directions in Doc ID: 339510.1.
    During installation i choose this path as the ORACLE_HOME
    /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/
    I did not however installed the default database.
    I then ran the two scripts at the end of the installation as root.
    Here are my settings:
    oracle bash_profile:
    # .bash_profile
    # Get the aliases and functions
    if [ -f ~/.bashrc ]; then
    . ~/.bashrc
    fi
    # User specific environment and startup programs
    PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin
    export PATH
    unset USERNAME
    :q
    ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
    export ORACLE_BASE
    ORACLE_HOME=/product/10.2.0/db_1;
    export ORACLE_HOME
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    here is my oracle env result
    [oracle@nycoralp01 /]$ env | grep -i ORACLE
    OLDPWD=/home/oracle/oraInventory
    USER=oracle
    ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
    MAIL=/var/spool/mail/oracle
    PATH=/bin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/home/oracle/bin
    HOME=/home/oracle
    LOGNAME=oracle
    ORACLE_HOME=/product/10.2.0/db_1
    here is my echo $ORACLE_HOME result:
    [oracle@nycoralp01 /]$ echo $ORACLE_HOME
    /product/10.2.0/db_1
    Can someone please tell me what did i miss or did not set?
    When i try to run sqlplus i get this error
    [oracle@nycoralp01 /]$ sqlplus
    -bash: sqlplus: command not found
    Any help appreciated

    I change it in my bash_profile
    $ vi ~oracle/.bash_profile
    # .bash_profile
    # Get the aliases and functions
    if [ -f ~/.bashrc ]; then
    . ~/.bashrc
    fi
    # User specific environment and startup programs
    PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin
    export PATH
    unset USERNAME
    :q
    ORACLE_BASE=/u01/app/oracle
    export ORACLE_BASE
    ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/10.2.0/db_1;
    export ORACLE_HOME
    export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH
    and i'm still getting the same error
    -bash: sqlplus: command not found
    Is there anything else i'm missing? do i have to restart anything?
