Lumia 520 - Internet stops working sometimes. Nee...

I have been using a Nokia Lumia 520 for 6 months.  Sometimes the internet stops working.  Only after removing and replacing the battery, the problem is resolved.  It happens say 2 or 3 times a month.  Is this a common problem?  Does it indicate a problem with the hardware or software?
Thanks

Switching the phone off doesn't really switch it all the way off, it just puts it into a kind of "sleep" mode, but the O/S is still running. How would it know that you've pressed the power switch otherwise? Even if it's interrupt-driven rather than the switch being polled constantly, the CPU still has to be running to register the interrupt (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interrupt for a description of what an interrupt is).
By pulling the battery out you're forcing the phone to shut down completely. There's no way it can continue to run without power.

    Hi,
So switch a LAN card fix this issue...seems a compatibility issue or maybe some packs or programs you installed recently cause this issue.
Have you manually check the network adapter driver from the PC's manufacture website? sometimes, it will be a time delay before Microsoft push out the driver update.
Check if issue exists in safemode with network, this mode will launch Windows with limited sets of files and drivers.
if you have a restore point, restore the pc to a previous point at which the pc is functioning fine.

  • Why does my wifi connection stop working sometimes?

    Hello.
Maybe this has already been answered and I'm sorry but I didnt know what word to use in english to find the exact problem in google lol.
Well, The problem is that my wifi connection seems to stop working sometimes, it takes about 1 to 10 min and then it just comes back. I can notice it because Safari stop to load pages, the appstore doesnt load, and I tried with google chrome : same results
I experience this about 2 to 5 times a day, it's just pretty annoying. The wifi logo shows that it is always connected, it never shows that he is reconnecting
May this be a router problem...? Or simply the computer
    My specs : 1,6GHz, intel core i5
    2go of RAM. It's a 2 years old MBA
    Thanls a lot !

    Hi CPUGenuis!
I have an article for you that addresses this situation and will help you troubleshoot this issue:
Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628
Symptom: The network connection drops unexpectedly
Your Mac may not not stay connected to your Wi-Fi network reliably.
Your Mac may stop accessing the Internet during use.
    Solution
Use these steps if your computer disconnects from its Wi-Fi network unexpectedly.
Check your range to the Wi-Fi router and reduce the effect of interference.
If your computer is too far from your Wi-Fi router or your environment has too much Wi-Fi interference, then your computer may not detect the Wi-Fi network properly. The easiest way to check for range limits with your Wi-Fi network is to move your computer or your Wi-Fi router closer together and make sure that there are no obstructions (such as walls, cabinets, and so forth) between the router and your computer.
See Potential sources of wireless interference for more information about interference and solutions.
Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network. If your computer works fine when connected to a different Wi-Fi network, then the issue may be related to your network router or ISP. In that case, contact the manufacturer of your router or your ISP.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • Internet stops working every time I try to download anything from iTunes.

Every time I try to download a movie from my purchased list on iTunes it freezes shortly after stating  then the internet stops working. This only happens on my iMac. I have 10.10 and everything is up to date on my iTunes. The internet is not affected on any other platform. To regain internet I have to disconnect from wifi and reconnect.
On a side note, sometimes when I restart my mac the finder bar disappears and the system freezes. I have to hard reboot and then soft reboot for it to work properly again. Help please!!

  • Internet stops working at random

    Hi Guys!
This is about my girlfriend's MacBook.
We have a LevelOne WiFi router, works perfectly fine for my MacBook Pro and other computers (Windows XP, Vista,...).
She can connect to the Wifi and use the Internet. However, after a while - the duration changes, sometimes it's only a few minutes, sometimes it lasts for 30 min. - the Internet stops working.
The MacBook still has full WiFi connection but she doesn't have Internet (no websites, no skype, etc). It's not dependent on what she's doing, sometimes it happens even when she doesn't use the computer.
In the Network Preferences it says that "AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet." Under TCP/IP it's set for using DCHP and also shows an IP and a Subnet Mask, however, the field for "Router" is empty. Renewing the DHCP lease doesn't help, she has to disconnect the Wifi and re-connect, then it works again.
When it works it says that it has another IP address (192.168.123.167), Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 and Router is: 192.168.123.254
You can probably imagine that this is annoying like sh*. Help us before I have to bring her to the asylum

The Internet stops working because you are either losing your association to the Wi-Fi router or your DHCP lease is expiring.
The first step to take in debugging this is to make sure your Wi-Fi router has the most up-to-date firmware available from its manufacturer installed on it.

  • Internet stops working frequently on OS X Lion

I had 10.6.X latesr version was OS X and I was happy with that. Now I have upgraded to this Lion OS and I am getting one very embarrasing issue.
Internet stops working frequently. The following will give you the feel of the issue:
    - I am starting safari and will browse for sometime.
    - Suddenly I wont be able to open any sites, internet will stop working.
    - So I check wifi, it is online and showing correctly in my Mac Book Pro.
    - I checked with my room mate his internet is working properly.
    - I changed browser I am not able to browse site in Chrome too.
Solution restart MBP or on/off wifi and restart browser then internet will start working. I am fed up of this lion problem. Does any experienced this problem? Is this a bug? Why I upgraded to this Lion?

I am facing the same issue, only with a slight difference. My entire system sort of hits a halt, apps still work, but they refuse to close.
I am using Internet Sharing to share my internet connection from my iMac's Ethernet port to the WiFi. After a while, not only the iMac's internet stops working, the internet sharing stops working too, not to my surprise. Restarting the computer seems to solve the problem but not 100% of the time, and everytime I try to restart the system, all my open apps seem to refuse to close and I have to either force quit them, which works sometimes, or do a force shutdown by holding the power button for a few seconds.
Making the Ethernet port inactive and reactivating it does not solve the problem, nor does disconnecting the ethernet cable and reconnecting it.
I have a little software installed that monitors my network activity and displays it in the menu bar. I have it currently monitoring my Ethernet port and what happens when the internet connection stops working is that the Ethernet port, although still connected and with a green light, just stops sending and receiving data, sometimes it does receive some data but it stays at 30-60 B/s.
I'm sure this is an issue with OS X Lion because I had never had this issue with Snow Leopard until I upgraded to Lion.
Realy hoping for some guidance from Apple here on how to tackle this issue, it's quite annoying to have to restart my iMac all the time. I am used to leaving my iMac on all the time cause I access it remotely often using LogMeIn on my iPad. As well as that, I have other network services running and it's quite annoying to try and access my iMac remotely and find out it is offline because Lion refuses to keep me connected to the internet.

  • Notifyd using 70% cpu, webfilterproxyd 48%, and syslogd 18.4% and internet stops working

This happens almost everytime I am online. The fan gets super loud, the internet stops working (connectivity is great but no pages will load, regardless of browser). Sometimes turning off the wifi and turning it back on allows me to use the internet for another 30 before the problem happens again. The only way to get the internet to start working again is to restart my computer.
Whenver the problem happens I find the above processes taking up all the CPU. All 3 are root processes.
This started happening about a year after I got my macbook pro brand new. I have been dealing with this forever. Have searched online everywhere over the course of months and cannot figure out the problem.
PLEASE HELP! It is so annoying having to keep restarting my computer all of the time!!
(note: I haven't updated my mac to any new software since getting it. Didn't realize I could until I saw the new Maverick update. So my macbook pro is still OS X 10.7.5 just like when I bought it.)

just saw another post...is this possible an issue with having parental controls on this account?

  • Internet stops working after waking up from sleep

My MPB has a strange and very inconvenient problem. Sometimes when it goes out of sleep Internet stops working. No matter what connection I use: Ethernet or WiFi (tried both), no site can be opened. The strange thing is:
at the same time other devices connected to the same router work fine (both wired and wireless), so router and ISP are OK.
from Mac I can ping any site by IP (and Skype works fine too).
So it looks like some service in Mac OS that is responsible for domain name resolution stops working.
    What I tried:
    Restart router - no effect
Move Mac to sleep and wake again - no effect
Restart Mac - the only cure. But in this case I have to close and open numerous applications that is really bothering.
Should I mention that all updates are in place?

Try this. Go to: System Preferences/Network/Advanced/ and click on the far right part of the bar, PPP. You have seven possible items to be clicked: instead, only click "Connect Automatically..." and "Disconnect when..." - and leave everything else unclicked.
That should solve your problem, though it'd be great if you were to post your results here.

  • Internet stopped working on MBA after latest firmware update. Help please!!!

Internet stopped working after installing the latest firmware update. WiFi still connects to router, our other mac desktop still connects to internet as usual (same network). I can't even re-install the MBA OS since it needs an internet connection!!!
    Any ideas?

    FIXED.
I swapped our wireless router for a newer one, internet seems to work fine again (we were sent a new one by our internet provider which we never set up until now).

  • Why does the plug in stop working sometimes

Why does the plug in stop working sometimes?

Is your pc. laptop, whatever Windows -ana what version, like Windows Vista, or Windows 10.
What bit is it? 32 or 64?
You can get that info by right clicking on "My Computer" Uusually on the desktop) and selecting Properties in the drop down menu.
And what version of Fire Fox are you using?
And which plugin are you using, and is it for Flash Player?
This info will help someone to answer your question.

    Try this:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • After like 10 minutes internet stops working

okay so this all started when i updated to dp 3 or something, then the internet started acting up.....no matter if i update or not (this has been going on for like a month, and i'm on the actual release of yosemite) it keeps on doing this stuff where the internet stops working.....it seems like the less plugins the better because when I use browsers such as "Netsurf" or "Opera" the internet works for like 15 minutes, but then for safari, its like 2 minutes and stops working.  In order to get back online I have to completely log off and log back on, so thats the real problem, especially because I have to use the laptop for school.  I currently tried to find the issue by having the console open on the side so when it finally says "0 B" on opera, I could check the error.  What appeared when this happened was this:
10/23/14 12:31:27.037 PM Console[789]: Failed to connect (_consoleX) outlet from (NSApplication) to (ConsoleX): missing setter or instance variable
So, great I found what the issue is, but now what I need to know is what can I do to fix this?  Please I'm desperate, because not only is this my laptop but it's my mom's.  So she has like an entire buisness set up, and due to this error....it's screwing around with her timing on getting everything in for her buisness.  Best regards,
    Tom Hancock

Slightly different issue but maybe it will help someone solve the OP problem. Just installed 10.10 and using Safari.
    This is my error message...
28/10/2014 12:41:14.757 pm Console[7383]: Failed to connect (_consoleX) outlet from (NSApplication) to (ConsoleX): missing setter or instance variable
I get this whenever I try and reply to an email in OWA (Outlook Web Access). It causes Safari to crash. Up to this point the internet is accessible without problems.

  • My iPhone5 lock screen stops working sometimes

My iPhone5 lock screen stops working sometimes.I have to restart the phone every time I encounter this problem. Sometime even when phone is locked and there's incoming call I couldn't answer simply because the touch stops working. This frequency of occurrence is increasing now.
Is this some kind of software issue because I noticed this after updating to 7.0.2 iOS ?

Because something is wrong with your iphone.
Try the basics from the manual: restart, reset, restore.
If these fail, it is likely a hardware issue.  Make an appointment at the genius bar.

  • Internet stops working after being connected for 5 minutes to wifi

My macbook pro running on os x mavericks is giving me an issue. After 5 minutes  of connection with the wifi network, the internet stops working even though its connected the network. Reconnecting fixes it for yet another 5 minutes.

Might be corrupted network preferences ..
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
See if that makes a difference.
Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.
If that doesn't help, try here >  Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity
