LV Modbus library 1.2.1 - Error code 6101 (timeout)

This seems to be a common problem but did not found a clear solution. Timeout (error code 6101) appears randomly during register(s) read in Windows and Real-Time environment and with various computers. No matter which RS232-RS485 converter or short/log cable is used. Does anybody know what is the main reason for this error?

Bonjour,

  • Timeout error (code 6101) for acquisition from MODBUS instrument

I am experiencing a problem which other users have reported, but for which little useful information has been posted:
I am trying to acquire data from an instrument using MODBUS RTU protocol.  The code works as desired for a while, but will intermittently stop executing and give a timeout error, code 6101.  This code seems to be associated with the MB Serial Master Query sub VI.  In the past, I was getting this error as a result of RF noise corrupting the signal in the USB connection to the instrument.  Removing the USB cable from the noisy environment eliminated the problem.  I am now having the problem with an RS 485 line in the noisy environment, which should be very stable in noisy environemnts.
My question:  is there a coding trick i can use to reconnect in the event that a corrupt signal occurrs (or some other problem which results in the intermittent appearence of the error 6101)?   I've increased the timeout value on the MB Serial Master Query sub vi, but this hasn't helped.  Any input is appreciated.  In case it's useful, I've posted a simple version of code which generates the problem.
    Thanks,
    Paul

Thanks for your input, Ravens Fan.  I am indeed getting a popup error message with the timeout.  I agree that putting the MODBUS read in its own loop would solve the problem.  However, I'm struggling with trying to figure out how to actually do this.  Should I put the read in a case structure or a while loop?  How do I go about looping back to re-execute the read statement?  I think so called "state machine architecture" seems to be where I should be going. Some example code would be greatly appreciated.

  • Modbus error code 6101 and framing error

Using the Vi's MB INIT and MB WR to monitor the registers of a Micro-Motion sensor but keep getting either Framing error 1073807253 or timeout 6101. The communication is RS232, 1 stop bit, RTU (8 data bits), 9600 Baud and the program reads 50 consecutive registers (Floating), timeout is set to 2000 ms. Usually the errors occur after about 5 minutes or so.

    Hello Romain
Please find attached my Vi. I have reduced the amount of registers taht were originally read from 50 down to 20 and increased time delays which seems to have removed the error code problem.
However I still miss data, for example the temperature reading will be fine for a few minutes but then go to zero or a large number. The same thing occurs with other registers that are being read.
    Thanks

  • Error code -50  what does that mean

I have a ipod shuffle.  When I try to transfer a song from my library i get a error code -50.  What does that mean?

On an XP system, it might be best to start with the following document:
iTunes displays -50 error message when syncing iPod on Windows XP

  • Error Code: unable to add document

I trying to add a PDF file to ADE, but when I try to add it to the library, I receive an error code saying"unable to add document". The PDF file is a library book.

Okay. There might be one issue if the form is corrupted or due to some bad scripts it may happen. What's your default program for opening PDF? Is it Acrobat Pro/ Adobe reader? By default if you have Acrobat Pro then PDF will open in Acrobat Pro. Try to uninstall and instal again Acrobat. But before doing that do one thing. Set the default application for opening PDF to Adobe Reader. And try to preview the form. If it does not workout then first uninstal and instal Adobe Reader first. If it does not workout Uninstal and instal Acrobat Pro.
    Thanks,

  • Dbms_pipe.send_message timeout , error code 1

I recently migrated a number of standalone databases (10.2.0.5) over to a 2 node RAC (10.2.0.5 RH 5.5). We make use of dbms_pipes during schema upgrades. However, the databases that are a 4k DB block size and using a we8 character set are now experiencing error code 1, timeouts, during dbms_pipe.send_message ever since the migration occurred to the RAC Cluster. According to Oracle Docs, this is mostly likely a locking issue. I'm not considerably familiar enough to troubleshoot it. What's the best way to troubleshoot this? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

I'm not completely familiar with Oracle pipes. Any insight would be appreciated.

  • I am trying to copy iphoto library Error Code 36

I am trying to copy iphoto library from one hard drive to another and get the message The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “iPhoto Library” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36) = Need to back iy up or my wife will kill me. thanks for help

Here is something you can try:
Obtain iPhoto Library Manager. It is an inexpensive program you can download. Run it and tell it to REBUILD your iPhoto Library from your original iPhoto Library. It will create a NEW file in a destination that you specify (you can specify the other hard drive and thus get a backup all at once) and try to recreate the iPhoto Library based on the info from your original one. Depending on the problem causing your -36 file error, iPhoto Library Manager may (a) successfully recreate your entire photo library successfully on the other hard drive; (b) recreate all of your original photo library except for the part that is damaged; or (c) won't be able to finish at all if the disk problems are severe enough.
If (c) happens, you may have to copy the actual photos individually out of the iPhoto Library and into a new iPhoto Library. The actual photos are inside the iPhoto Library. You can find them by control-click once on the iPhoto Library and select Show Package Contents. The folder called Originals or Masters has the photos (originals) and a folder called Modified or Previews has the edited photos. I suggest COPYING (not moving) these folders to the external drive. You will then need to re-import the actual photos inside these folders to a new iPhoto Library.

  • Load error code 11 when attempting to open .vi from library

    Hello,
Recently a colleague sent me a .llb containing a VI and sub-VIs of a program needed for my research.  The VI opens correctly but none of the sub-VIs can be found by it and when I attempt to open the sub-VIs I get load error code 11: VI version (6.0) cannot be converted to the current Labview verstion (8.5.1) because is has no block diagram.
I am running Vista with 8.5.1 and attempting to open a library of version 6.0.  I do not know what OS the library was compiled on.  (Linux is a possibility)  The colleague who sent me the program does not know either, as he recieved it from another colleague whom he is no longer in contact with.
I am fairly certain the library was saved with block diagrams, so I do not think that is the source of the error.
Does anyone know what might be a way to get these sub-VIs working?

    Okay,
File posted.  Someone please tell me if this has a block diagram on it.

  • Help with "The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "iPhoto Library" can't be read or written. (Error code -36)" Any ideas on how to fix this?

While trying to copy my iPhoto Library (49.61 GB) to an external hard drive, I receive the error message "The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “iPhoto Library” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)"
I need to move my library because I have no more disk space.  This was going to be step 1 followed by backing up to another EHD.
More details: iPhoto version 9.6 (910.29) OX X Yosemite Version 10.10.1 (Mid 2011 Mac Book Air).  EHD= WD Elements 1 TB (purchased at B&H Photo where the sales associate formatted it for a Mac).
Any step by step ideas for help are appreciated!  I've read through a few threads but need more step by step directions.

That error message is an I/O error which can mean a number of things, among them a bad file.  Here's a couple of fixes you can try:
1 - use the free version of  iPhoto Library Manager  to rebuild the library with the rebuild being created on the  EHD as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
When iPLM finishes it will display a log file entry showing which files it was unable to use in the rebuild.  Open the old library with iPhoto, locate and delete the photos that iPLM listed in its log.  Then try dragging the library to the EHD again.
If the above fails continue with:
2 - create a new, empty library on the EHD.  Use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manage to copy the events (1-2 at a time) to the new library on the EHD.  At one point iPLM may run into the bad file and be unable to copy the event.  You can check iPLM's log to see what file it is.  Then open that library, delete the file and either try to copy the entire library by dragging and dropping or contine with the copying of events from the old library to the new library.

  • The finder can't complete the operation because some data on iPhoto Library can't be read or written. Error code -36

    Hi,
Installed a new startup drive and cannot access my photos. While copying/pasting iPhoto library from old to new drive I get,
The finder can't complete the operation because some data on iPhoto Library can't be read or written.
Getting help from Apple senior advisor caused more problems, was unable to boot up for a while. Back up now but still can't transfer iPhoto Library.
    Anyone seen this before?
    Thank you

Linc and Larry, could you please have a look at this thread? Sorry, it is in German:
Re: Fehlermeldung beim Verschieben von iPhoto
The OP is trying to copy the iPhoto library to an external drive and getting "The finder can't complete the operation because some data on iPhoto Library can't be read or written. Error code -36". This happens even when copying to the same drive.  The destination drive is correctly formatted.
The Console is showing a message I don't understand:
03.06.14 18:26:40,990 Finder[1154]: NSFileCoordinator: Sending of a providerCheckin message was interrupted. Details: Connection interrupted
    Any idea what this means?

I have a backup from Time machine of my iPhoto and I get the above error when I try to restore them. Thae backup was done with Mountain Lion and I upgraded to Mavericks. The backup is on an external drive.
    Again this is the error:

I have also tried going to earlier dated backup and get the same error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
